Welcome to the discussion thread of The Ghol-Gan Heresy (S9-23) that I'll be running. You can dot and delete in the Gameplay thread at your leisure; please post your Initiative/Perception mods on the slides (link is in my header and at the top of the page) along with your icon. You can also post your PFS info below when you get a chance, along with any special abilities you think I might need to be aware of...
Player Name:
Character Name:
PFS ID#:
Faction:
Progess (Standard or Slow):
Day Job Roll (if applicable):
You can also post your icons and Initiative/Perception mods on the slide link in my header or at the top of the thread (already have Kiboko's, Kramac's and Zaarah's there, but you might want to double-check)...
As I mentioned in my recruiting post on Flaxseed, this is going to be run at a little quicker pace as we need to finish by the mid-July (the 18th if I recall correctly, is that right Kiboko?) Most times, my PbP sessions run fairly quickly, and upon doing the prep work for this scenario, I think this is very doable...
This'll be run at high tier (10-11). We'll be starting in earnest as soon as we get a full table; as I've reserved spots for Kiboko, Kramac, and Zaarah, we need three more. The first three (other than those) to post here, that don't mind the quicker pace, are in...
I've already entered the introductory post in the Gameplay thread; you may post an introduction there, as you wish...

July 12 is the target finish date, GM.

Perhaps an archer?
Player Name: Hawthwile
Character Name: Rudzik
PFS ID#: 264524-5
Faction: Silver Crusade
Progress (Standard or Slow): Standard
Day Job Roll (if applicable): Survival: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30

![]() |

Or two?
Player Name: TriShadow
Character Name: Bo Goh Twang
PFS ID#: 151777-9
Faction: Grand Lodge
Progess (Standard or Slow): Standard
Day Job Roll (if applicable): Herbalist: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
If reroll is available at the end, then -->Herbalist: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21

![]() |

Oops, my bad Kiboko. No worries, we'll still get 'er done by then...
Welcome Rudzik and Bo! You're both in. Y'all can post in the Gameplay thread or dot & delete, as you wish. Just need one more now...
Bo, you probably don't remember, but my -1 Flyn (he was strictly a Ranger then) played with you in the Wardstone Patrol a couple of years ago; you impressed me so much that I ended up multi-classing him with 4 levels of Zen Archer, really improving his archery...

![]() |

I do remember. Glad to be of service.
Here's the cool thing, with out too much of a spoiler. After Wardstone Patrol, Bo took a level of spiritualist and used an NPC from the climax of that adventure as his phantom. I sometimes use him like a quiet guiding mentor for Bo. I really like the idea of incorporating events like that into a character's history. So, Wardstone will always have a special place for me.

![]() |

That's so cool. Yeah, I really enjoyed Wardstone; I've always enjoyed the scenarios where you go into, or close to the Worldwound. Do you remember that Barbarian or Brawler type dude, Braxus, I think? Man, that dude was one-man wrecking crew when it came to melee...I think he damn near killed the Demon boss in Wardstone with a single blow...

![]() |

Perhaps all the ranged attacks you could want?
Player Name: Steven
Character Name: Trey Hurtubize
PFS ID#: 3217-10
Faction: Scarab Sages
Progess (Standard or Slow): Slow
Day Job Roll (if applicable): Craft Alchemy: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (7) + 26 = 33

![]() |

Perhaps all the ranged attacks you could want?
No worries, TOZ, you're in! The other three are all awesome front-liners, so y'all should wreak some serious havoc in the encounters. Go ahead and post (or dot & delete) in the Gameplay thread...

![]() |

Actually, Braxus in a RL friend of mine. And yes, he absolutely destroys. He and Fendel played in the Elven Entaglement, and I was glad Braxus was there.

![]() |

I just went through the Elven Entanglement not too long ago; Flyn went through with Kramac that'll be playing here with you and he's capable of putting up some Braxus-like destruction...and you already know what Kiboko and Mvumbu are capable of from the Cultist's Kiss. This is a more encounter driven scenario, so this should be a pretty formidable party mix...

![]() |

Trey is more rogue than ranger, so he will be mainly support for the damage dealers. Entangle comes in very handy in most situations, while the Holy Bomb stagger effect tends to be less useful with an easy DC to meet. He has a lot of extracts for survivability and detection, not a lot of other offense. Plus he's hilarious to play as you might have guessed.

![]() |

Well, I've played PBP here with all of you in some aspect...looks like I've GM'ed all of you except for TOZ...and each of you has GM'ed me at least once, except for TriShadow. I can also confidently say that each of you are better GMs than I so I'll try to be at my best here...
Just a refresher on my GM style. I don’t pretend to know everything when it comes to Pathfinder rules; all of you have been playing longer and know the rules better than I. If, more likely when, I err, call me on it as you see it and I’ll fix it; I have no qualms about retconning if I screw something up. You won’t hurt my feelings as I like to think I don’t have too much of an ego. By rule of thumb, I’ll retcon if my mistake is detrimental to the PC/party no matter when it's discovered; if my mistake is beneficial to the PC/party, I will not retcon unless I catch it almost immediately. My main goal is that everyone will enjoy themselves and have fun; I try to roleplay the NPCs with that in mind, as well as to, hopefully, add flavor...
As a GM, I usually post at least two or three times a day, sometimes more, and try to keep things moving along. While I don’t normally expect that much posting from my players, since we'll be running this at a bit quicker pace, I hope you can post once a day at a minimum, and two or more when possible. Real life comes first though, especially in the crazy times we live in now, so please let me know, if possible, when you may have a hard time posting. If I have to bot you, I’ll check your profile for botting instructions; lacking that, I’ll bot you conservatively equally considering the best interests of the character and the party.
As far as initiative goes during combat...for those players in the same initiative block, I usually play things out in post order as opposed to initiative order as I’ve found that moves the combat along more quickly. But if it’s a situation where it’s more beneficial to the party to play the block in initiative order, I will do so.
Looking forward to running y’all through this scenario...

GM Otha, you are an awesome GM and I very much enjoy your balance and storytelling! Thanks for the invitation!! :-D
Below the details you asked for GM. I have to level up to 10 but I’ll be done tomorrow.
Player Name: Noral
Character Name: Zaarah
PFS ID#: 314670-3
Faction: Scarab Sages
Progess (Standard or Slow): Standard
Day Job Roll (if applicable): perform dance : 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

![]() |

Thank you Zaarah...and no worries, you're a pleasure to GM.
I see introductions are well under way, most excellent; I'll give that just a little more time and move us to the briefing this evening (I'm on EST)...

![]() |

Tag-line updated, might need to make some purchases once I doublecheck my chronicles. Trey is a bit of a mess with slow track to finish his Scarab Sages faction goals. Also, I have run this awhile back and remember broad strokes, but the details are fuzzy. Shouldn't be a problem to keep things separate, as Trey has a...funny outlook on things.

![]() |

Just posted the briefing and some initial question and answer spoilers...but feel free to ask any questions you like...

![]() |

Details:
Player Name: supervillan
Character Name: Kiboko
PFS ID#: 75577-6
Faction: Liberty's Edge
Progess (Standard or Slow): standard
Day Job Roll (if applicable): survival (hunting lodge): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (8) + 16 = 24

Yeah, I'm enjoying his flavorful speech...I'm showing my age, but the Professor's speech makes me think back to an old Cheech & Chong album my brother had back in the seventies and one of the skits on it. "Old maaan...zign zee paypaz!!!"

![]() |

He’s a bad impression of every mad scientist I have ever seen in entertainment. Add in the tiefling heritage and he thinks in decidedly inhuman ways.

![]() |

Hello everyone, Zaarah is now updated to level 10.
I wanted to grab an oil of align weapon until I realized that at level 9 Bladebound Magus my Black Blade becomes a +3 weapon and I can spend an arcane pool point to add up to +3 additional enhancements.
So now I have a Keen +5 Scimitar which does not care about Alignment DR. :-D
Have a great weekend everybody!

![]() |

I'll be refering to my companion by a different name than beak (beak died last mod to a banshee), but I don't want to make a new profile every time my animal companion dies.
I'm so sorry about that, Kramac.

![]() |

Hah, don't worry about it. I'd much rather a companion die than a PC. And you were far less deliberate about it than some of my past GMs. I once played a mod where round 1 of the first fight, he charged my wolf, crit him which knocked him unconscious. Then he actually had the other bandit 5-foot step and coup de grace the poor guy.
@Zaarah, I pushed to get my weapon up to +3 for the same reason - with Bane, I can now ignore alignment and materials based DR. Sadly, I am still powerless when it comes to the damage type DR of skeletons (unless I just punch them)!

![]() |

As probably the most mobile character, Trey will grab a pair of shiny gloves in case anyone needs saving from the Boneyard.

![]() |

GM, I have issues accessing the slides from my phone and assume that’s because it is a ppt instead of a google slides file. Anybody else having that problem?

![]() |

Hmmm...it is a PowerPoint slide, but all of my slides have been...let me check the version...

![]() |

I’m on the road tomorrow and participating in ConCurrent the next two days, but I will do my best to keep up.

Someone wake me and Kramac up when the fight is over!

![]() |

So if these things are immune to flanking, does that mean they're also immune to Outflank?

![]() |

So if these things are immune to flanking, does that mean they're also immune to Outflank?
Pretty sure that would be a yes since you have to be flanking a creature for Outflank to come into effect...but some of the other GMs here would know better than I...

![]() |

That's my understanding, yes. Outflank requires a flanked creature, so if the creature can't be flanked, no benefit.

![]() |

Yeah, I missed/overlooked that on Kramac's attacks...but it wouldn't have changed much...purple might still be barely clinging to life but with Bo's turn yet to come, I'm sure he'd have dropped it...

![]() |

Losing the +6 to hit from menacing, pack flanking and outflank does hurt Kiboko and Mvumbu in terms of accuracy - but we don't fish for crits like Kramac ;)
I was just a few hundred gp from being able to upgrade my greatsword to evil-outsider bane prior to this scenario too.

![]() |

FYI, in the hospital, awaiting a family member’s surgery; might not be able to post more till this evening...

Best wishes to you and yours Otha - my wife's in hospital too, for a chronic condition.

![]() |

Thanks, guys. Made it back home; long day but all went well. I’ll move us forward tomorrow...
Just a note that we’re making good time...we should be done well before the 12th...

![]() |

Family first always. The party will keep.
My run of this went much the same. Having an Oradin in the party means very little challenge.

![]() |

Hello GM, how many rounds of our 1 round per level buffs are gone? Thanks

![]() |

Let's see...you came through the door, take in the room and see the hole, Kiboko moves up and casts Stone Shape; seeing as how the gripplis urged you to hurry, we'll call the first round of combat, which we're in now, as the 4th round of your buffs...

![]() |

Thanks a lot!! :-D

![]() |

Hey GM - I think I'm going to go slow track for this mod (we can mix and match, right?). Kiboko still has a bit before he'll be ready for Eyes, so if I can squeeze one more Mod on Kramac, I think I will. These high level modules are quite fun.

![]() |

July 12 is the target finish date, GM.
Hmm - Do you think we'll finish on time, folks? XD
No rerolls here, GM. Thanks for the fun game (and for putting up with everyone's crazy shenanigans)!

![]() |

Yea, at that pace we could get another mod in between now and the 12th.

![]() |

Day Job ReRoll : Craft Alchemy: 1d20 + 26 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 26 + 5 = 51
A pity he doesn't have any of the boons for day jobs!

![]() |

No worries, enjoyed it...when I was doing prep work, I was pretty sure y'all would fly through the encounters with this party. Once y'all can get in synch, nothing much can withstand the sort of damage y'all are capable of putting out. The toughest encounter might've been the anaconda and Parveen's manifestation, although you weren't in serious danger there either. Zaarah chose a good time for mirror image; the upasunda might've really put a hurting on her had she not as I think every hit would've landed on her that round otherwise...
I have a couple more posts to finish things up; the next will be coming up in a short while. You'll have a decision to make concerning Parveen but it's just a formality as there is no wrong answer...
Day Job ReRoll : [dice=Craft Alchemy]1d20+26+5
A pity he doesn't have any of the boons for day jobs!
Wow TOZ! Never seen a day job roll like that...does the table even go to 50?
