"Spirits up, folks!" Father Kerndrew tries to keep everyone engaged. I think I'm going to have to make time tonight to speak with Ishirou... that much rum isn't good in the best of times.

"You did great with the camp yesterday, let's keep it up. We're going to try to discover this island's mysteries again; we'll be back before dusk!"

Gregor seeing How Sasha is sensitve about going hunting decides its better to shift the roles around for the moment...

Ive got an idea. Today Jask see if you can set some snares for food and lets give Sasha a break from the jungle. Gelik that means for today you need to see to the medical side of the base...and Aerys stay away from the booze and see if you can lift everyones sprits with some of your sea tales? is that ok? Finally Sasha stay on Guard...and Isharou see to the Camps defenses...work will put those nightmares to rest. I hope thats ok?!

With that Gregor started up the cliff by the rope to start exploring.

Woth everything settled nicely, the exploration party sets out again. with the rope securely in place the climb up the cliff only takes a few minutes and the group sets of to follow its trail left yesterday.

With most of the sturdiest obstacles already out of the way, progress is easier nd you soon reach the point where you turned back yesterday. From here progress is slower, but with time and regular advice from the trained arty members you manage to make a steady progress.

I understood you wanted approach the Dimorphodons from the upper cliff this time. If thats correct you have reached the general area after two and a half fours. You are now about 10 Minutes from the cliffside and could decide how to approach. If you wanted to take another route just tell me. and wind back.

I like the idea of exploring the dimorphodon area first.

Father Kerndrew tightens up his armor. "I'm going to be the loudest of us all, I imagine, so I'll take up the rear. Don't worry; I can rush in quickly if things turn to trouble!"

Davor grins at Father Kerndrew's comment. "As a group I don't think anything won't notice us coming. The only time we might be able to move quiet will be when the main group of us stops and just the couple of us that can move quiet scout ahead. And realistically, as dense as the woods are here, even that isn't likely to be quiet...."

Glancing around to everyone, "Hey. If we scout toward the cliff where the Dimorphodon nest might be, can anyone speak with them or charm them? I don't think they'd be much in the way of food. But they might have other uses, especially if they aren't attacking us!"

Where's the druid when you need one!?!

On the top of the cliff theres a quick discussio which way to go after they follow the trail they originally were on or to turn and its decided to keep going towards the giant bird nest on the cliff. Gregor disagrees but moves forward blazing the trail through the jungle, mile by laboriuous mile. Hacking vines and foliage away with the hand axe he sharpened up the night before. He keeps his eyes and ears open for danger as they move.

Gregor holds his hand up and then says in a whisper. we are close enough to the nest now that we should proceed with caution. Father Kerndrew perhaps you should wait for a couple minutes then follow as you will. we will be in position then to see how they react. Unless anyone else has a suggestion...

Gregor will head out being as quiet as possbile.

Before leaving: "Ishirou makes a good point! We don't know what the figures are, but there may be something dangerous behind them. Ghosts or something like that! If anyone spots them, watch but don't approach. I thought they were my former crew mates and wanted to try and save them.... All I got was wet. Until we know more, if ever, stay out of the water!"

Both of you are very carfully moving forward through the jungle approaching the cliffside, taking good care not to disturb any flora or fauna.

Unfortunately the birdlike creature are very observient and after only a short while you here a piercing shreek from the air above you. The dimorphodon has apparently spotted you. You also hear an answering shreek out from the cliffside.

You have been spotted but the creature is not attacking you here in the dense jungle.
The others are not too far behind yet, now that you can run, you could easily meet each other in 2 rounds.

Gregor scowls. He slips the handaxe back in his belt and pulls the battleaxe. Then says to Davor Is there any early reason we need to kill these creatures? Would we be smarter to avoid them and move around them.

Father Kerndrew hears the birds' screeches, and grows in concern, but waits for some call from his allies; he holds his ground, ready to noisily charge into the underbrush if called.

The Pterosaurus is following you until you have moved far enough away. Then it flies a few swoops over the group before returning to the coast.

If you want to watch for the Wreck you can spend another half an hour to reach the cliff a bit farther away from the predators.
Or you can move somewhere else in the two hours until the noon heat.

Gregor heads back and in short time they are back with Father Kerndrew. He says Bypass? and look at the wreckage from above, though I cant think what that will accomplish since we cannot get to it yet. or go inland? Im For Inland

"Well, we're not too far from the overbearing heat of the afternoon," Father Kerndrew responds. "It seems it would be a short trek to the cliff overlook. We could accomplish that, and maybe the view would give us some hint as to how to better approach the wreck."

"We can rest then, and head inland in the afternoon."

The group carefully retreats until the Dimorphodon leaves them alone and then circles back to the cliffside a bit further west.

From up here the wreck is clearly visible . The ship itself is definitely not in a good shape, with a large hole showing in the middle of the main deck and the front.
Carefully looking for details you can see a small dinghy still attached on the afterdeck, but you cannot see what shape it is in.

Hewit is able to spot the place where the name of the ship used to be but can't make out the details. You think its made of three words with the first word being "ear".

Gregor nodded. Good Information. He looked to the others to see if they had any other ideas then suggests, lets start to cut back South East inland to try and reach the other shore of this peninsuela and see what we can see. Then we can head back North West and and we will have investigated this part ofthe surroundings of our camp

Davor stares at the boat for a while. "That dinghy might be useful, but only if we can figure out a safe way to get out there.... Maybe later."

I think we have to wait out the heat of the day before we continue, right? Then that sounds good....

Its about an hour until the midday heat starts to become oppressive. Afterwards you have about 3 hours left.
If you want to return to the camp you would need to stay inside near that 4 hour window. (or travel during noontime or travel at dark.)

Heat Rules:

A character in very hot conditions (above 90° F,) must make a Fortitude saving throw each hour (DC 15, +1 for each previous check) or take 1d4 points of nonlethal damage. Characters wearing heavy clothing or armor of any sort take a –4 penalty on their saves.
A character with the Survival skill may receive a bonus on this saving throw and might be able to apply this bonus to other characters as well (see the skill description). Characters reduced to unconsciousness begin taking lethal damage (1d4 points per hour).

Silver Crusade

Hewit spends the first half of the day seeming to be lost in thought. He keeps up with the group and follows their lead as they deal with the dimorphodon. He nods an agreement as the move back to the cliff edge and look at the wreck from the day before.

"The wreck seems in rough shape." he says as he comes around. "The state of it doesn't give much hope, but if we could get a better look at some point we might be able to salvage something. I do see the name is intact on it, though I cannot make it all out. Seems to start with 'ear', but can that be right? Who would name a boat something like that?"

Hewit takes out his waterskin and takes a long swig. "How is everyone doing with their water? Don't feel we have to conserve it. Drink up, it will help with the heat."

The group decides to journey southwards, trying to get a view on the lagoon and the surrounding areas. After a further hour the heat becomes unbearable and you decide to stop and rest. For the past horu you have been slowly climbing upward and now you can sometimes climbs views of the lagoon between trees.

Mid Afternoion a torrential rain sets in. The trees only provide partial cover, so shortly you are drenched completely. The rain stops after 30 minutes and now the temperature has dropped enough to move on. The weather is still warm enough that you do not have to fear catching a cold and ypour belongings slowly dry.

After a further hour you arrive at the cliff above the lagoon stretching for miles.

Day 3 (Midsummer) - On a cliff above the South Beach
Two hours before sundown - the weather is very hot and humid

To the right a few large gaps in the Ring of The island connect the lagoon to the open sea.
In the middle of these gaps a small island stands out to anyone who casts her gaze to the west, for whereas the rest of Smuggler’s Shiv is a luscious green and a riot of jungle sounds, this island is a silent gray scar on the horizon, covered in some strage trees.
To the left the land streches in a large bow around the inner sea, without any visible features.
Far to the south east the Shiv a low mountain is the highest point on the entire island. Barren of vegetation, the jagged rise of rust-red stones juts from the earth like an immense scar.

On the cliff below you you spot a large nest but the inhabitants - another flock of 3 Dimorphodons - currently can be seen hunting fish a few miles out in the lagoon, so you are in no immediate danger of being attacked.

Davor relaxes for a bit, staring out at the sea. His time aboard the ship hadn't really been long, but it had been a step in the right direction for him. He enjoys the view of the peaceful waves.... then shrugs. "Well, the view is nice. But we should keep moving."

Pausing for a glance down at the nest.... "That's a big nest!"

How far down the cliff for that nest?

If you want to spent the night in camp you need to start walking back soon (no more exploration of hexes that do not lie on the direct path-. If you want to camp out, you have two more hexes worth of exploration

"We should think about heading back about now, I think." The Father looks around, and continues. "At some point, we're going to need to start camping out here overnight if we're going to explore farther afield, but we should let the base camp know that. We don't want them to have to wonder what happened to us if we unexpectedly don't show back up one night."

Hewit nods along with Father Kerndrew. "I agree. Both in that we should head back for tonight and that we should let those in camp know that we may be out longer than a day in the future."

Kenderella has ridden around as in a daze most of the, enjoying the sights, smells and sounds of the jungle.

Remembering something that was brought up earlier she says. "I can actually use my magic to talk to animals. But I'm unsure how much we'll get out of it. They aren't exactly intelligent. Maybe we can get them to tell us about predators or areas to stay away from though." She poders.

"I think we should continue. But if the majority wants to continue I guess I'll follow along with you. I certainly don't want to camp out here alone."

Day 3 (Midsummer) - Back at the camp
Shortly after sundown - the weather is very hot and humid

Happy to have found a way across your part of the island and seens the rest of it, you decide to return to the camp for now. Another 2 hour walk through the jungle brings you back to the cliff above the camp whrere the climbing rope is still securely attached. Below in the camp, everything looks fine and as you approach you are greeted by the others.

Willpower Aerys: 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 - 1 = 4
Willpower Ishirou: 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 2 - 1 = 20
Willpower Jask: 1d20 + 2 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 2 + 8 = 28
Willpower Sasha: 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 2 - 1 = 12

Jask had a great day hunting for small piglike creature and one of them is currently roasting above the fire. His susccess and The promises from Gregor have convinced him , that the whole situation is a stroke of good luck for him and it shows in his demeanor. 8 more rations hunted, Jask is now hopeful, takes no more Morale penalties and needs to take no more morale rolls. The same is true for Gelik

Kenderellas efforts to reach Ishirou seems to have worked at least partially. The Xianian has not managed a lot of progress on the defenses, but his mood is noticable lighter than in the morning. Ishirou was frigthened so only very limited effect of his role (defender). His morale has improved, but he is still shaken, so whatever role you give him tomorrow will have penalties.

You notice that Aerys is not immediately seen, but soon find her lying in the back of the cave with Gelik by her side caring for her.

Sasha is sitting by the fire roasting todays catch, checking you out as you approach.

Gregor enjoyed the brief rain, though it soaked them and dried very rapidly in the hot jungle air. At the cliff overlook the nest, He agrees that they should return to the base camp. On the way back he begins the discussion of where to go the next day. He suggests heading out along the cliff towards the west with the idea of going out to the point overlooking the small islands and camping overnight and returning along the south cliff the day after.

He sees Jask in good spirits and that pleases him. He sees Aerys injured and rushed to her side. He looks at Gelik How is she? What happened?

"Earlier the day one of this strange birdlike creatures visited the camp and watched us going about our business. And then our little drunk here decided to go chasing after it."

"As you might have guessed that was a bad idea and she just manged to fall a few meters down the cliff onto the beach. She is mostly onlyhurt in her pride, but that is hurt badly."

Surprised at Sasha's interest Davor slowly shakes his head. "I didn't see any, or any eggs. The creatures were away when we were there. But it's a walk of just a couple of hours now that we've cut the trail. Maybe we could return, and wait. Do you know much about the creatures? Maybe they hunt during the day so they'd be out then, and bed down in the nest at night?"

"The trail has been pretty safe so far, just hard work cutting where needed. But like I say, now that it's cut it would be quick and easy to go back for a look."

After feed the 10 cast aways, we will have 4 rations worth of food. With Gregor's stash and Jask's luck we should have a while before we begin to starve.

"Well I know a little bit about them. They have leathery wings and a beak full of sharp teeth.
Their bite is supposed to be poisonous, allowing them to hunt larger prey. They mustly hunt in small packs of 2-3."

Sasha has shown interest in these birds all the ties since you have first seen them.
The other Dimorphodon nest was occupied when you visited it, so it might be a coincidence.

Sasha easily truns the attack with her kukri, slashes at Kerndrews legs with her rapier. While the paladin drops his shield to defend this strike, the former red mantis steps in and cuts with her Kukri at the opponets shoulder. Luckily for Kerndrew the dagger is stopped by his armor once more.
