Didymus the Great |
Didy whispers a short prayer to Aroden as he sees the evidence of terrible things done to the true Gozrites.
GM_MG |
BumBum effortlessly picks the lock.
This small cell looks like many of the others in the hermitage, but it is remarkable for the bloody corpse that stretches across the small single bed. The figure, a human male, is dressed in the gray robes of the other hermits, and also wears a gold sash decorated with a badge depicting an open book. A stack of books sits on a small bed stand, and an imposing mural of Gozreh that depicts the deity as a raging elemental looks down from the southern wall.
Didymus the Great |
"What happened here? Such carnage! I guess it makes sense for demons, but who would summon the demons here to do such things!" he says, clearly getting emotional.
Despite being certain it is a lost cause, he moves to the fallen hermit to check for any possibility he might still live. Failing that, he tries to learn how the poor soul was killed.

The man here is indeed dead.
Kvothe notices a hidden door on the north wall.
Two of the books here are books holy to worshippers of Abadar—the Manual of City Building and the Order of Numbers.
The dead man here has a pair of keys on him.
GM_MG |
The secret door looks safe. It doesn't appear to be locked. However, you can faintly here some sort of movement in the next room, followed by a breaking sound. This is repeated several times.
BumBum the Clown |
BumBum will motion the party to join him in the corridor.
"Something wrecking stuff in there. Maybe's another Wrecker demon like from the church? I's wondering if that other door up there also lead to same room. We's could make two forked attack, some through door, and me's jump through secret door for surprise. Just idea, but maybe's?"
Kvothe Incruentus |
backing up a bit to point out to door to BumBum
hey, you guys might want to check that wall out, there's a door there
After BumBum checks it out
that sounds good, Didy, Ambro and I go from the hallway you and Lady Al through the secret door? Ready?
Didymus the Great |
"Hmm, the only problem I see is if they don't lead to the same place. Then we could find ourselves cut off from each other, each fighting separate battles with only half our numbers. My guess is that they won't be expecting us to come through the secret door. Let's all go through there and hopefully get the drop on those demonic jerkbags."
Didymus the Great |
Didy's tail begins wagging furiously at the compliment, and before either can react he gives the goblin a generous face lick. Immediately afterwards, the shoony retreats a step and avoids all eye contact, mortified with embarrasment.
GM_MG |
This library must once have been magnificent. Tall wooden bookcases still line the room’s walls, but many have been pulled over, spilling books of all types and sizes over the carpeted floor. Statuary busts decorate a few cases that remain standing, but others have toppled and shattered. Shredded paper and torn parchment cover the ground. Tables where hermits must once have studied ancient lore are flipped on their sides or upside down, their legs broken off. Archways to the north and south lead to reading rooms that have so far been spared from the damage to the library.
A pair of abrikandilu are here, smashing what few objects are still undamaged.

Didy gasps as the demon lands a brutal blow on BumBum. "BumBum fell, Kvothe, he fell!"
He grits his teeth in anger and steps into the doorway to fire arrows over his companions back, who violently thrashes at the demons with tooth and claw.
Thanks again for the retcon. Ambro should be at 5/30 right now. Even so, we gotta hope thees guys are close to dropping.

Both demons are badly jolted by Al's spell (Blue critical fail), and Blue drops under Didy and Ambro's assault.
Kvothe brings BumBum back to his feet with a big heal. If being down to one opponent changes your actions, feel free to retcon, BumBum. Otherwise I'll post Red's actions a bit later tonight.

Tankasaurus!!!
Ambrosius ducks and weaves under the demons attacks, making a strange chittering noise that could perhaps the dinosaur's laughter, as it acts like a playful kitten lashing out with attacks to counter the missed strikes against it.
"Ah, ah, ah!" Didy scolds, "Demons are not a toy. That one tried to eat BumBum! Now stop playing with your food. You get one more bite and then COME."
The raptor takes one more vicious bite, thrashing his head about while latched on, and then sheepishly returns to his master's side.

With that, the red demon drops. Out of combat!
Didymus the Great |
"Whew! That was a close one! Alrighty, time for some patching up. Everybody break out your sack lunches, this may take a while."
He hustles everyone back into the room and closes the door behind, to ensure no more demons wander by until everyone is back on their feet.
Assuming it has been about 10 min since we rested after the priest fight, it looks like I need to wait 20 min before I can attempt Treat Wounds again. Kvothe, can you cast another Healing Hymn on Ambro and then on BumBum? I figure we can search the room in that time. Then after that I should be able to start with Ambro, and then finally BumBum so we get rid of that Dying condition. So 40 min total for the rest (assuming no interruptions).
1st 10 min Treat Wounds on Ambro: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

2nd 10 min Treat Wounds on BumBum: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25 crit!

Lady Alhambra |
Al will take a moment to mourn for the poor books, who never hurt anyone. She casts a quick incantation to help her find anything magical, and then sets about tidying up the place, while whistling a cheery tune.
BumBum the Clown |
BumBum should be full up after that treat wounds.
"Wow's I ain't been hit like that since Mistress Dusklight! Well, I guess this place a little more cleansed now. Thanks for getting me back to performance shape Didy!"
BumBum will spend any time not being healed to poke around the room looking for shineys.
Kvothe Incruentus |
Sitting down and playing softly while everyone goes about their tasks, Kvothe casts healing hymn on Ambro and then refocuses to cast it again on BumBum, and finally refocuses to gain a focus point back in his pool before we move forward
man, I didn't get to bring the BOOM,BOOM yet.....
GM_MG |
Most everything of value has been destroyed here, although with time some of the books could be salvaged by amanuenses.
One book does appear to be of interest, however. A formula book, largely undamaged, contains a number of alchemical formulae: lesser elixer of life, moderate cheetah's elixer, and moderate eagle eye elixer.
You are able to rest and heal up with no interruptions.
Didymus the Great |
Just to clarify, our search included that small room to the north of the library with the big table, right? Just want to make sure we didn't forget about that room before we move on. Also since we had time for such a long rest, @Kvothe, can I get a healing hymn on Didy? I am just a few HP down, but we might as well top everyone off to full.
"All set!"
GM_MG |
The hall continues to the east, leading back towards the area you initially entered. There are doors on the north side of the hall; a t-junction in the middle leads north.
Yes, that room is part of the library.
Kvothe Incruentus |
sure thing buddyas he pats Didy on the head
if we're not being threatened Kvothe will cast an additional healing hymn on Didy while the are searching the initial library and taking the 10 min to refocus

Following BumBum and Didy, Kvothe moves quietly as they check the rooms.
