"T-Bone for breakfast? No wonder you're on the frontline." jokes Helios with a smirk.
Arriving at the E-Deck, he unclasps a flashlight from his belt and throws it to a nightblind party member. "Here, if anyone needs it. I can see just fine anyway, but I always have a flashlight with me."

Seeing '5ym0n' begin work on a control panel, Taerem moves to the Ysoki and uses their reach and extra limbs to work on the parts of the panel just out of reach, their Bronze Arachnid morphing to form a pair of intricate tools and mini-welder.

You manage to reroute power to your section of e-deck. A terminal by the door activates as well as the door controls and emergency lighting.

"Cool, lights are back on here. Let's see if power's still missing in the next section."

With power back on, Taerem follows down the ship's corridor, keeping their rifle slung for now. The Kasathan didn't seem the need to being actively armed in their own flagship - if enemies had snuck aboard they'd likely go after much more crucial targets than those gathered here.
"Hmm, best activate the emergency lighting, otherwise those of us incapable of seeing in this darkness run the risk of walking into struts."

![]() |

Dawnfriend frowns, as he holds a lantern, a flashlight, and a glowing hand augmentation. Not just frowns ... looks mortified. "Oh, I am so sorry, Taerem. I thought I had enough light. But I have let you down, all of you nufriends. Here, you take the lantern..." He passes the lantern to Taerem ... then the flashlight. "Actually, how about this? I'll go buy more lights ... maybe a beacon ... You guys just wait right here. I'll be back in a couple of shakes."
When the emergency lighting is turned on, Dawfriend sighs in relief. "Gree! You can keep those, Taerem, in case it gets dark again. I'll buy more later."

Hey relax! We're all new at this. said Vyn reassuringly. He had his laser rifle cocked and ready to go. It was a bit of a pain to handle and he needed to be ready just in case.

You sweep through e-deck and arrive a storage room near where you believe the malfunctions originated. With power restored and the passwords given to you opening the doors is rivial. Scattered barrels and boxes line the lowered floor of this storage chamber. A thick bulkhead to the port side leads farther onto the deck, while a similar bulkhead to the aft connects to an arterial hallway that runs the length of the deck.

5ym0n begins searching the room, hopefully with Mega Gelub 2 nearby for cover if necessary, for any sign of what may have caused the malfunction. They are obviously trying to also keep an eye out for ambushes, they equally obviously, to everyone but themself, are not doing a very good job of that.

![]() |

Dawnfriend hums cheerfully as he walks into the storage room.

![]() |

More comfortable as light is returned to the deck, Taerem takes the offered torches from Dawnfriend automatically in a daze. Coughing softly as they realise what has happened, they return them to the Skittermander with a shake of their head. "No, you are not at fault little one. It is either malfunction or sabotage" They finish as they step into the storage room and fans out, still with no rifle drawn and searches the area for clues of what caused the issues.

You don't see anything that would have caused power outages here, but most of you hear a loud clatter as an empty canister falls off of a box and rolls across the floor. Turning in that direction you see a pair of small humanoids obstructed by the boxes.

Simply following the others into the room, Taerem keeps their eyes peeled, trying to spot that which their allies had noticed. They kept their lower arms folded whilst their upper arms continued recording various data upon a wrist mounted device.
"What have we seen hmm? Sabotuers or loose experiments?" they enquire over the comms.

XperimentalDM |

A pair of human childran come out form behind the boxes in a panic. There are a boy and a girl. They both look under 8. The girl calls out, "A! please don't hurt us! We just got board and were looking around the ship!"

As the children step out, 5ym0n realizes they were pointing a "finger gun" as opposed to their real weapon,... at the wrong set of shadows. They "nonchalantly" go back to searching the room, half-listening while their companions question the children.

Dawnfriend nods. "No problem, little human nufriends. Are your parents on this ship, too?"

XperimentalDM |

"Yeah our dad works here. He's a Starfinder engimeer. We aren't supposed to wander off alone, but we got board and didn't think anything would happen. Please don't tell him, we promise to go back where we're supposed to be."

"Bringing snacks is very wise. My favorite ice cream is strawberry, but it's hard to choose. I like so much ice cream, ya know. So you don't know why the lights went out? You didn't maybe push a button or anything when it happened?"

XperimentalDM |

"Well we had just gotten here"
"and we were getting ready to open the door."
"And I had just told Si to stop eating all the jam because there would be any left."
"I only ate some there would plenty left to share, plus I found an rice cake form last time and I don't like them plain"
"Anyway we didn't even get to open the door before the lights went out."
The kids are not really consistent in their story, they claim to be exploring but also seem to have been here before. They are definitely leaving something out.
'Ok ok we came to visit our new pet and give him some food. He really likes jam. He live in the next room over. We set the trap up to keep you away from him. It's just a fire extinguisher and a paperclip. Please don't get us in trouble."

At the mention of a pet with a fairly unique description, Taerem's interest is peaked and they listen to the children's explanation. Seeing 5ym0n checking the supposed location of the 'trap' set up by the children, the Kastha moves over to help them disable it so they can move to the next room and find this pet.

Having had the trap pointed out to you it is much easier to find. You disable the thermal sensors which have been set beyond maximum sensitivity by placing a paperclip over a pair of connectors. You are pretty sure any warm blooded creature walking through the doors would have set it off. The doors are unlocked and able to be opened.

![]() |

Dawnfriend beams at the two kids as he watches the trap be disabled. "That was very ingenious of you two. You're going to grow up to be fine engineers, no doubt. Maybe you'll be able to join the Starfinder Society, too! Wouldn't that be fun?" He glances around. "Actually, they could probably join now, couldn't they?" He turns to them. "Your first mission ... stand right here, and yell if anyone sneaks up on us. OK? But don't come through the door after us!"

![]() |

”Hmm, crude but effective given the materials available to them and that they were in the pitch dark...” Taerem observes as they assist 5ym0n be reaching the high points on the trap. With it removed they squeeze through the doors and into the next chamber, their senses peeled for sounds of this missing ‘pet’.

You do not immediately spot the creature but clearly something has been moving around this room. There are panels and plates partially opened all over the place. You notice it is much warmer in this room. There is steam escaping from the coolant system creating fog like clouds. This area consists of two adjoining chambers. Four large containment capsules fill the fore room, three of which hold stasis-locked objects, including a tablet, a strange curved sword, and an odd spiral of bioluminescent coral. A crack leaks fluid from the fourth capsule, which displays a foot-wide breach near the bottom. The aft room contains several desks, each hosting a deactivated computer terminal.
You can attempt to track the creature with survival, life science, or piloting.

Cheers 5ym0n ^^
At the Ysoki's suggestion, Taerem steps back and lets the Ryphorian and Half-orc through first "Make sure you don't break anything." they warn as they step into the chamber and take a moment to examine the objects kept in stasis. "Hmm, very interesting - it would seem these have been forgotten."
