"Hold fast there, Rout, or preferably come back down," Pyotr calls up. Without joining in the climb, he tries to tend to the goblin's ailments from a distance.

Upon returning to Melcat's Folly, the man listens to Narsen's latest. "I'd be surprised if we ran into any issues big enough to give us pause. My thanks for your help, and best of luck at the bargaining table."

As the priest leaves, he mulls over what was said to Lotte. Could it have been an inside joke, a poor, naive attempt to motivate, a veiled threat perhaps?

Sense Motive:
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Aloysius:
Any reason for the secrecy? I think Narsen's gone, we probably aren't planning around Lotte, and other party members saw the ring.

Pyotr looks the ring over for any mundane (or magical) clues. "That would be quite the coincidence in my eyes," he replies. "Although, did our superiors know Fort Agate would be the new Lodge? It's easier to renovate than build, and there aren't any other candidates in this two-bit town."

Pyotr's magic helps relieve the goblin of his bleeding.

Pyotr:
Your best guess is that most of the locals fear the upper echelons of the Razmiri priesthood. Narsen didn't sound overtly threatening, but he definitely leveraged that fear to encourage Lotte's cooperation.

Aloysius and Pyotr:
The ring doesn't seem to have any magical properties. It's quite old, so any deliberate connection to the Whisper Lilies would probably be coincidental.

I don't know if the other party members saw the ring. I had found it and collected it before one of our other party members indicated it. Aloysius is a Pathfinder, however, so "explore, report, COOPERATE", right? And yes, Aloysius was being extra careful around Narsen as well as the other citizens.

Aloysius openly shares the old ring he found in the wall of Fort Agate.

"I don't want other eyes to see this, lest it result in heartache for someone," Aloysius explains, eyeing the citizens within the inn carefully to ensure secrecy. "It would seem that Fort Agate held a few secrets."

He spends his time collecting pieces of broken masonry and pieces of wood. The poop is also collected and he begins working on scrubbing the walls and floor to remove any mold that has collected.

It's just a couple Treasure Bundles, probably indicating something the Society will follow up on in the future.

Putting together some teams of villagers, who seem eager to work for good coin, the Pathfinders make good headway cleaning the fort. Victus and Aloysius clear out much of the detritus mucking up the great hall, while Rout and Erevan trim back the overgrowth dominating the approach road and Khunbish and Pyotr make the courtyard more presentable than it's been in decades. The villagers mostly keep to themselves, but they work well and make the otherwise daunting task far lighter.

With the great hall clean, clearing the caved-in stairway blocking entry to the dungeons looks like a more manageable task, as does fixing the collapsed stairs to the roof. The failings of the outer walls, including the front gate, are laid bare by the newly cleared approach road, but such repairs would require a hefty supply of stone, which Narsen evidently did not provide you. If that teetering watchtower were to be demolished, however, you should be able to salvage all the stone you need.

Pyotr starts out his cleaning duties with liberal use of prestidigitation. However, he quickly runs out of surfaces the cantrip would have much effect on, or can't find any in the open courtyard. At that point, he heaves out a massive, exaggerated sigh and deigns to use his hands. He doesn't seem inept with them, but very reluctant to look like he's putting in effort.

The next day, he seeks out Junissa Yovitch shortly after his early rising and massive breakfast. "I hope the morning finds you well! Pray tell, are you ready to show us bigshots a thing or two about your craft? Because I think the masked fellow made some good choices in hired help." He smiles, gesturing out the window to the looming Fort Agate. The watchtower likely isn't visible from Melcat's Folly. "I'm sure there will be some mundane, if quite specialized, tasks down the road we're paving. Ones better suited to those who have spent their lives honing the technique in question. Namely, controlled demolition. I don't quite recall if I've ever tried my hand there. But even if I had, I wouldn't trust myself to do so. In fact, I'd feel much less likely to be buried under tons of improperly-disturbed rock with you at the helm."

GM and Khunbish, I would like to award my promotional Hero Point to Khunbish in order to allow him to reroll that check involving the Whisper Lillies.

Aloysius spends the first day cleaning the great hall along a contingent of townsfolk. Aloysius makes sure to be kind and courteous to the servants of the village that he's specifically asked to be placed with on work detail.

"I think I've never felt dirtier," Aloysius announces to the gathered party at Melcat's Folly, "and since I'm in this state, I might as well as continue. In for a copper, in for a gold, as they say." Despite the words, the young man looks well made up, his face prettied and subtly painted.

Aloysius proposes taking his same work contingent to the ruined barracks and cleaning there. He eyes the Hellknight-in-training carefully, then utters a short sentence meant only for his ears.

"Έχουμε δουλειά να κάνουμε. Θα συμμετάσχετε μαζί μας;?"

Victus:
"We have work to do - would your team join ours?" Aloysius says in Shadowtongue.

I have put the language being used in Victus' spoiler, if you'd like to know what language is being spoken.

Fair enough, but why don't you hold onto it for now. I realized that we've reached the "1-hour mark," and I was going to award a Hero Point to Khunbish anyway for having the greatest impact against the midges. He can use that GM Hero Point for the reroll he posted, and you can hold onto yours for another day.

Khunbish takes a day off from manual labor and wanders the perimeters of the keep and the village. He notices several gardens hosting regular lily flowers, perfect places to hide the magical plants where they can grow in camouflage. He discretely plants Venture-Captain's Smine's bulbs, leaving the gardens seemingly untampered.

Pyotr flatters the stonemason boarded at the inn, who takes a long drag on her ale as he describes the job. She sighs and speaks in a surprisingly gravelly voice. "That's why I'm here, id'n it? Will say you lay the honey on nice. Must be an outsider thing. I think I can help you knock your wall down or whatever."

Aloysius and Rout set to work clearing out the barracks, making similarly short work of clearing out the junk and offal as they did before. Victus learns just how hard it is to demolish a watchtower, struggling to lead his cohort of workers to safely chip away at the load-bearing stone. The tower leans even more precariously, but remains standing. Failure means only 2 work-days.

Waiting on final actions and checks from Erevan and Pyotr, who can certainly hire the stonemason if he wants to work on the tower as well (don't forget that hiring an NPC who has a particular specialty that is in the task’s requirements allows you to add your level as a proficiency bonus to the associated skill check, even if you are untrained, and you gain a +2 circumstance bonus on the check. All other documents are up to date.

Pyotr mentally tuts at his beautiful wordplay being so casually reduced. But this is the price he pays for working with down-to-earth folk. "Yes, we might as well get it out of the way. At your leisure, though; mornings are to be savored."

"We'll soon have this town shining from all corners," Pyotr chuckles as he observes Junissa at work. "No more quaint hamlet, but perhaps we can leave some of those elements. They have their appeal, don't you think?" Though he expects the mason to agree verbally, he hopes to instead get her talking honestly about her grievances. Not a likely proposition. He notifies the others as the day winds down. "Treat her with care, nothing too snobby or humble either. Maybe ask her where she usually works next time we hire her."

Spoiler open.

Before going about his business for the new day, he goes to sniff out the innkeeper's son Wilfred. "Up for a job within the next few days, I hope," he says with a smile. Internally, he is unhappy when not using speech so flowery as to choke someone with a pollen allergy. "Some stairs in the Fort aren't up to snuff, and I've heard you'd be the man for the job once they're clear."

With the stairs a day or two away from being a concern, Pyotr goes to tackle the barracks. Or rather, oversee his hired man do so. "...of course, my mother found things for me to do around the house due to my breathing difficulties," the slight man explains to Matthild as he scrubs cleaning rags with a pumice stone, "but there's only so much that the town would stand. They insisted upon my servitude in the military, and I was just not going to bend that easily, so I ran away. It must be different for you here in Razmiran. It seems as if you're all well-suited and chosen for your roles..."

Aloysius lets his words trail off as he looks about the three women's faces for notable reactions.

The Pathfinders lead a largely productive day, completing the well, clearing out some more of the stairs, noticeably progressing toward fixing the barracks, and beginning to assemble some sizable wooden crossbeams for the gate. Pyotr starts to touch base with the innkeeper's son, who he finds whittling in the shed behind the Melcat's Folly. He doesn't look up as the Ulfen talks to him, but snorts snidely as Pyotr offers the job. "Stairs just beams set higher 'n higher. Na too hard, but if'n you outsiders need help then I'm happy to take yer coin. Bet Bessama could do just as good, adled elf brain or na." He mutters passive-aggressively "Na that you'd notice, damn heathens."

Pyotr Perception DC 14:
Wilfred has a lazy, nasty demeanor, with no love for you or your organization.

Aloysius spends the day socializing with the two non-human servants, as well as the wisewoman. All three of them respond positively to Aloysius. Matthild sighs as the envoy talks about being well-suited or chosen for their roles. "Well the role I chose was a trapper in the River Kingdoms, but the slavers who scooped me up and sold me here didn't really think I was well-suited for that. I grew up believing 'slavery is an abomination,' but abominations seem well-suited for this hellhole."
Bessama smiles as Aloysius smooths her out, initially responding very hesitantly to his diplomatic overtures. Clearly she has been treated abusively by her employers for a while now. Her smile, though, is...hard to describe. It's not quite hopeful, and a little unnerving. "And now you get to see the world. I bet your family was crushed when you fled. I'd like to have seen their faces. Maybe I'll be a Pathfinder someday. I'd love to see the Mayars' faces when I returned with swords and mages and burned their rotten inn to the ground." She gazes off into a daydream Aloysius suspects he'd rather not be privy to.
Sylvina nods soberly in response to Aloysius's story, absently petting one of her rats. "Well, we all have to make choices when people tell us where to go, what to do, who to worship. Some of those choices are easier than others, some are safer than others, and all have consequences. All we can do is choose the bend in the river, and deal with the waters we can't see when they come into view."

He and a rather nondescript Razmiri priest, at least a rank or two beneath Narsen, walk the rest of the way to the inn. Pyotr tries to maneuver him into having a talk with Wilfred. With the priest's authority, he hopes to make it take place somewhere he can at least hear, and preferably see.

"It has come to our attention your cordiality has been lacking to our honored guests," the priest says sternly, but without much hostility. "The victim of your bad manners hasn't lodged a complaint, and is being polite about it. We know nonetheless. This will go unpunished, but cannot continue. Good relations are essential and will not be jeopardized by one man being a lout. I hope you will take to this task as your peers have, and follow their directions as you would Holy Razmir! I hope there are no questions regarding something so simple." With that, he walks off, and, when he is a good distance away and out of sight, disappears.

Not sure if Erevan's failed check means no progress or partial. If no progress, Khunbish will also try. If there was partial progress and it is completed, he'll excavate the stairs below great hall instead.

Seeing the progress made to the barracks. Khunbish nods in agreement when Pyotr decides to head off to recruit a specialist for the more challenging tasks. Erevan's help is welcomed while he continues to supervise his hireling to finish up the job, but Irves, now rather restless, proves to be a distraction.

If Braderock answers he says, Have lot of work for you out at the Fort. We Pathfinders, lots of tough people like me. Safe place to work. Pays well. Other people from town already making lots of gold.

Redirecting Khunbish to Aloysius's secondary action since Aloysius tackled the stairs first. Junissa and Braderock are both available so you can do that work. @Rout: You can socialize with 2 other villagers during the day; you don't have to reroll, just choose who you want to talk to.

Day 4 Complete!

Aloysius: 4 days excavate the stairs below the great hall; delivered Envoy's Alliance tokens to Bessama and Matthild
Erevan: 2 days repair the barracks
Victus: 4 days replace the main gate
Pyotr: 2 days rebuild collapsed stairs
Khunbish: 2 days replace the main gate
Rout: Make and Impression on Braderock, ???, and ???

Cost: 4 gp (hire villagers, stay at inn)

Both servants respond quietly to Aloysius's offer for Fola Barun's tokens, the halfling with a serious silent nod, and the half-elf with an unsettling smile beneath dispassionate eyes. Victus and Khunbish lead a more productive day for laying out the crossbeams for the gate, while Erevan finishes the barracks, even filling the cots with new animal fur bedding (you may now comfortably sleep in the keep without making a camp). Pyotr's work is inhibited somewhat by his side shenanigans: his illusion works swimmingly, and a pale, quiet Wilfred dutifully shows up for work without complaint, starting at the Ulfen's every direction. Meanwhile, the goblin takes a day to better know the locals, having a productive chat with the local carpenter. "Yup, sure looks like you Pathfinders know what yer doin'. More business than I usually get, which is always nice. Well, the coin is nice. The work is hard. But it pays!"

Rout Perception DC 16:
Braderock likes you and the other Pathfinders, apparently impressed by your work ethic. You get a sense he has some lingering loyalty to the Razmiri government, though; he might need some more massaging before he could be convinced to work against their interests.

As Chall wraps up the remaining excavation of the descending stairs, night starts to fall. You all return to the inn, and Aloysius's hireling meets up with some of the townsfolk. "Maybe it's because of the dark, but I've got a bad feeling about that dungeon. You Pathfinders might want to poke around down there before anyone goes to work."

You'll still get to post actions for Day 5, but first you'll have to explore the newly-accessible dungeons. Assuming you have access to a light source:

You descend only to the end of the stairs before you hear a wet hissing sound. Three giant geckos are holed up in the dungeon, apparently hungry and territorial!

Rout Perception DC 17:
Martin seems nonplussed by you, probably out of an abundance of caution and suspicion. He clearly has no love for the Razmiri government and has a rebellious streak that has gotten him into trouble before. Edgar is more sociable (though admittedly a bit patronizing, treating you like a young child rather than a proud goblin), but would probably be more inclined to leak to officials; such cooperation is probably how he's gotten his spouse out of the aforementioned trouble.
