The vehicle allocations per one of John's posts and my sense of how we left the base were:
Truck -- John (pilot), Rar'gul
Cruiser 1 -- Beau (pilot), T'sorkel, Pokotho (T'sorkel was holding a gun on Pokotho)
Cruiser 2 (spare) -- Doc FlintbridgeIf Beau was never driving, I guess we could retcon it to put the three of you from Cruiser 1 into Doc's car or the truck.
It would be equally viable to say that T'sorkel was driving and Beau was watching Pokotho.
And, as far as piloting is concerned, mundane driving like just leaving the place does not require a check. Pretty much anyone can drive through an empty field, same as it doesn't require Acrobatics to balance when we're just walking down a hall, or Athletics to climb up an actual ladder.
The piloting checks don't come into place until we face actual obstacles or challenges, like now that we're reaching the lava. There's nothing wrong at all with Beau driving this far, and then stopping and going "Whoa. Hey. I don't want to drive through that. It looks too dangerous."
We can hop into one of the other cars, we can have Pokey give a shot at driving... we could tame the lava striders and try to ride them? lol.
I'm open to literally anything. And honestly, if the penalty for trying to drive through the lava and failing is just "trashed the car", and the alternative of not trying is also to leave it behind, then we might as well try. Worst case scenario just means losing the car, which we were already prepared to write off anyways.

Ha! Yes, I don't think they are exactly the sort of hot spring baths our pcs could use about now.
I had been thinking of the more solid areas (if such exist), like where we are traversing now.
I thought I'd mention it so that if an opportunity comes up in the future, we might have greater odds of remembering than if it was to fall to me alone.

So guys, I'm sad to say that . . . I'm going to have to cut this game. I'm sorry, but I recently lost my job and . . . I'm just not in the headspace to continue playing this. I've had fun, but I'm not very invested in it anymore, and I've got a lot on my plate right now with trying to find a new job, some summer vacation stuff (luckily everything is being paid for) and trying to figure out the absolute monster that is our health care system. I'm sorry, I know I havent been active for a while, and this is why.
I hope you guys have a fun time without me. Sorry to say I'm going.

We'll miss you, VBD. But take care of yourself and I hope you find a new job soon to help sort everything out.

I'm going to be traveling this next week for work. I probably can post, but it may not be consistent.

Given that Pokey doesn't have the greatest attack bonus or damage output, my general approach has been to apply Communal Bond and then provide Covering or Harrying Fire depending on the needs of the party.
With this being my first combat since coming aboard, as well as my first combat with this character in a PBP, I can certainly take a more aggressive or damage-dealy approach if you think that it's needed. I'm kind of following your lead until I get a halfway idea of how our party flows for combat.

Thanks GMQ. That is nice touch and appreciated.
I'd also wanted to extend that sentiment, but hadn't wanted to give rise to any potential feelings of obligation.
@Sharkbite - don't worry too much about that - just let Pokotho be Pokotho! :)
I'm sure we'll refine as we move along. We've had a little turnover in our group but generally adapted organically as needed.
That said, at times we have chatted strategy here in ooc, or if someone had something particular they wanted to do/pitch for feedback/input.

That dragon is a strange "throw-in" encounter. It doesn't serve a lot of purpose in the story. He DID spot the starship leaving the base, and knows what direction it went, but you guys already know that. He absolutely WILL fight you, but there are rules within the encounter for avoiding that, which John did quite nicely.
I probably should have skipped it, but I couldn't help but want to have a scary dragon show up.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Once again I will be attending Gencon this coming week. While I am pleased to be picking up the pace just a little more here in this game (and in a couple of other online games), I will be on a short hiatus starting Wednesday next week.
A couple of notable things I will be involved in at Gencon: on Wednesday, I'll be lecturing to librarians and educators about RPG clubs at schools and libraries. I have a few "best practices" I'll be sharing.
Starting on Thursday, I'll be very involved with Paizo's family and kid program.
Is anyone else going to be there? Yes, Dr. Flint-Bridge will be there, and I may need to post a pic of the two of us at the con in the slides (John, AKA Dr. Flint-Bridge, is local to me, so we've been friends a long time).
LOOK FOR A POST TOMORROW NIGHT REGARDING THESE STRANGE DISTRESS SIGNALS EMANATING FROM SOMEWHERE NEARBY...

GM Q speaks the truth! We'll both be volunteering with Paizo at Gen Con. It's hard to believe the year went by so quickly...
And yes -- There Must Be Photos. :)

Apologies, but life has hit a rough patch, and my motivation for my games is low. Not abandoning everyone, but please bot me as needed for now.

I hear you.
All the positive vibes in your direction. Hope you can rejoin us soon.

Once again I want to check in with all of you. Obviously I have been busy to let this group go. I find that my household has six holiday event, 5 of which we are hosting! Three still to go.
In addition to this, work is rather busy for me.
My Mom is currently in the hospital, though I'm hopeful things will be sorted out tomorrow or the next day.
WITH THAT IN MIND, I think I would like to propose a short pause here. Let's all come back here and do some heavy posting beginning January 2nd.
I do apologize. I think my mind will be ready for more RPGing as December wanes.
Alan

Indeed, but I have faith in us.
(Besides, I'm super curious about what's happening next!!)
