Wow, thanks for all the complements. I'm enjoying playing someone completely out of his element in a pseudo-noir setting.
Honestly, being able to manipulate or access the Akashic Record can explain pretty much any effect. Either you access the knowledge of how to do something or you change the official record so it always was like that. Pretty cool thing to be playing with in the narrative. Hope you guys don't get tired of it.

Thank you, Dr. Flint-Bridge.
For what, you say?
Since you prefer to have the GM roll sense motive checks, I got out REAL dice to roll the check. This is the first time since February that I have rolled REAL DICE in a situation relating to a real game.
I used my favorite dice from Black Oak Workshop.
I did take the liberty of including your expertise die.

Ha, I endeavor to please! Does this mean I get to spam Sense Motive with every post?

I have a hard time believing your bonus would be split between you and your ally. You get the full bonus, and your ally gets half that.
I could be wrong, but I think this is what we will go with.
Thanks for weighing in GMQ. I kept reading it from both perspectives, but was leaning toward this due to the Mystic and Soldier abilities that I've seen that "share" something, specifically mention the amounts the ally and the pc each receive.
I'm in the midst of a busy period at the moment, but hope to post something to gameplay later tonight.

I hate to be the one that keeps talking to people, anyone else good at diplomacy? I don't want to dominate conversations.
Doc is equally good at Diplomacy. I've still got my nose stuck in these clues from Algiada's cabin, but I can lead with the hobgob if you back me up. Doc's had a non-confrontational conversation with her before.

Not as good as Beau and the doc, but Rar'gul has Diplomacy +5. And just in case that fails, +7 Intimidate.
@GMQ: I've been meaning to ask this the last several days but keep forgetting - would the period of time when the others questioned the vesk and Rar'gul was tended to have been sufficient/appropriate for a 10 min rest? I understand if you deem it too far back.

Enjoying the banter and speculation. Some of it is even on the right track!
Some of it isn't.
I will probably post a quick lunch scene in the dining hall. You might be able to talk to some crew members or passengers there. It will certainly be a chance to check in with your old buddy Benjam.
Perhaps after that you may want to confront the goblins in the gym.
I will assume that all of you will at least pop into the dining hall. Of course you can RP any variance from that.

Yes. It took about a half hour to go over that ledger. You may certainly use that to take a 10 minute rest.
Thanks for the reply. I have updated accordingly.

That's what makes it all the more fun!
Looking forward to seeing what awaits us.

Leveled up. Put a point in diplomacy, now +7. We're going to be able to talk enemies to death.
I'm comfortable splitting into 2 groups of three for interviews except in the case of the goblins.

I'm comfortable with that. I would like a crack at the Professor, perhaps before we square up with the goblins.

Quick question for GMQ: the rules are pretty clear that medicinals, drugs, and certain poisons may all be loaded into weapons with the injection special property. What's less clear is whether spell amps and serums may also be used in injection weapons. What say you?

Just dropping in to apologise for not posting.
I have a post I'm partway through composing (lunch time and the ensuing discussion), but my current situation has meant I've not had time to complete it, nor read any new posts in the past 12+ hours. I've a busy morning ahead, but will hopefully get a catch up later in the day.
If it comes up (or already has) Rar'gul would most likely join the group visiting Kiiv (since he went there last time) and would certainly like to join the conversation with the gobs.
That being said, I'll roll with whatever you all come up with in my absence.
Apologies once again.

I’m also unlikely to post until morning (10ish hrs from now). The margarita I had was apparently all tequila.
Anywho, most likely going to gruffly accept free credits, buy some shiz from the vending machine and then head to engineering (+11 mod if rolls are needed) to double check all of Kiiv’s thingies.

I could use a Margarita as well. Maybe a quick nip before bed.
Honest, human talk to the hardest working group of PBP players on the internet:
I think I will turn my computer off for about 36 hours starting right about now. I'm observing (via local news and facebook) tear gas being fired about a block from the library where I work. Obviously we all have complicated feelings about the situation we are in right now in the United States. I suspect my personal outlook on this would find common ground with each of you (let's not get too far in the weeds, but I'll just say I have a healthy libertarian anti-authoritarian bent, yet a wish for order and safety in my home town, and of course a hurting soul for those affected directly by the tragedy in Minneapolis and other similar situations). I have friends who were protesting, and friends wearing a police uniform this evening.
Sometimes the answer is to turn off laptops and phones for just a little while. I'm going to a farm market in the morning. My wife tells me that a donut might also be in my future (sometimes it is the little things...).
The outlook in a place like Fort Wayne is probably fine. There were broken windows. There may be a few more tomorrow. No fires. No apparent injuries. A few arrests. We're a city, but we have a small town atmosphere. People will have their voice heard, then back to work on Monday.
Forgive me for waxing poetic with relative strangers. It's a long way of saying that I am hoping for lots of good posts Sunday night. I promise you'll get them from me.
Have a great weekend. Go outside for a bit. Eat a donut with me.

I hope you have a good night and everything goes okay. Man two people from online games I met are in that area.

"the type to resort to murder by tchotchke"
Classic. I physically chuckled.
Ha, thanks. Doc likes a good turn of phrase.
I was looking over our notes, and boy, does Lozu seem to be in the middle of everything. Very interested in the possible timing of the captain's death and the fact that she's been bringing him meals.
Also, we've never really talked to Grath. Perhaps Yariel could put her natural charm to work? I'm sure she would *love* to spend some time with Grath.
T’sorkel
I've never seen that word written before. Took me a while to realize what it was. :)
Reading your post, Doc, I just had the thought of Lozu telling everyone that the captain is working, but she's sitting in his office with his dead body slumped in the corner, eating his meals.

I was searching through the avatar list for a fire-horse and found this little fancy image. It isn't exactly a ratfolk, but the glowing red tattoo-like lines, long snout and fur match quite a bit better to what Yariel actually looks like.
So unless someone objects strongly, I'll swap over to it.
GM Quirk
Just thought I would throw out a few ideas of people to talk to and areas that might be accessible to you (or at least possible to break into).
First, remember that you see virtually every passenger and crew member at most meals (other than the captain, who seems to be taking his meals on the bridge or in his cabin). It's always a great place to at least check in, and possibly ask if a conversation is possible. You haven't had much of a conversation with Grath or Song yet, at least not about Algiada. You may always feel free to follow up with passengers or crew if you learn new things.
You have been in most public rooms. I suppose there may be certain places you have not specifically SEARCHED, but you know the lay of the land.
Can you get into other passenger or crew cabins? Yeah. You probably can. It might take some skill checks, and there is always the possibility of an awkward moment if you get caught.
I would say you can certainly check in with at least two other passengers/crew (or search an area) before Song serves the Rending Geese for dinner.
Doctor Flint-Bridge
I'll be on vacation without internet access for the next week (until 6/20). It looks like we've got a pretty good plan, so Doc will go along with whatever the party deems is best. GM, feel free to bot me as you find appropriate.
GM Quirk
Happy Monday everyone!
I have made a couple of posts that I hope will get our week of game play off to an inspiring start.
Hopefully Jincheroga and the goblins don't head for the showers until Yariel is done searching their room. Even more importantly, there could be hell to pay if Song gets distracted and burns the rending geese in the oven.
Doctor Flint-Bridge
Oh, it looks like Doc's new caustolance would have finished up at some point in the mid-afternoon, so she'll pick that up right after dinner. I'm mentioning it now because I will forget later.
