Thank, I'll consider it, but I already wear armor that gives me AC 12. A spell slot for a 1 AC increase is probably not worth it. Especially since I can go for shield and gain +5 AC for 1 round.

Sarya's head still hurt a lot, even after taking a healing potion. She sipped her water to try to feel better, but the motion only made her head throb some more. The elf suddenly felt hungry but didn't mention it nor made a motion to take eat a piece of cheese. She came down after the group towards the pit and looked down before saying "I think we should first clear the top side of the cave before venturing into the darkness below."

Despite her recommendation, Sarya did not move away from the pit and, instead, started to look around for signs of what creature might be passing through this place.

My thought is that there are unlikely to be additional threats below of the reptilian nature buuut If there is? What say you to me yelling down there they have a day to pack up and leave? Any lingering breeding females and young might clear out without a fight and during that day? We go back and collect our refugees?

"I do not believe that would be the wisest course of action." Kasana replied back to the Cleric. "We should figure out what's down there first before trying anything further. And yelling out that we've defeated they kin might incite them to a violent frenzy. If it turns out to be only non-hostiles left then I think we could approach cautiously and try to negotiate. And if there are more hostiles, then approaching quietly would allow us to try and defeat as many of them as quietly as possible before reinforcements arrive.

When she saw Sarya began to move forward, Kasana slinked low and attempted to stay as quiet as possible as she joined the Elf at the man-made rungs. She then drew her bow and kept her eyes and ears open as she watched her descend down into the cavern below; ready to fire should she spot anything dangerous lurking at the bottom.

@Fabian, Do cubes get attack of opportunities against us?

Also, so we don't all get swallowed up and die, do we want to strategize a bit on how best to go about this? My initial thoughts are for Sarya and Kasana to split up and run to the far end of the room allowing the rest of the party to safely enter. Then we all spread out and play keep away with it while hitting it from afar. I'm not sure how quick these things move but hopefully we're able to move around fast enough to stay out of range?

Gazul hurried down as quickly as he could, fully intent on attacking whatever it was that his allies were fighting.

As the cube approaches the two women, Sarya says [b]"Wait for me, then run to the other side of the room. She spoke the arcane words and made the practiced motion for her protective spell, then ran away and around the cube as far as she could.

Cast Blade Ward, then draw the AoO so Kasana can move without provoking. Run like Phoebe.

Sarya dropped her bow and drew her sword while positioning herself across from Gazul and attacked the thing. She also said "Does this thing die?!?!"

OOC: blade ward only works against bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage from weapons, not against 'energy' attacks such as 'acid'.

Though she managed to hit once again, she had no idea if it was actually effective; though she didn't plan to stop until it stopped moving... or she did

I was thinking of using Lightening Lure to pull him free. He'd likely take damage but the spell would pull him to me. But I was thinking if he is fully engulfed that it wouldn't be possible.

Gazul was engulfed by the ooze. For a moment he panicked, feeling that this was a death he could not escape from. But it was almost for a moment. He recalled what Cousin Okri had said...Pay attention! Gods below, stop staring at that bat and listen, because this will save your life some day. Do ye have any idea how many dwarves have died to oozes? If you're going to be a scout then ye have to know this. The more ye struggle the tighter the hold is going to be. Ye have to move slow and smooth. Go with the flow of the ooze. When it quivers, go with it. This will let ye move inside. And when it goes over something that ye can hold onto, grab it! So long as it doesn't come free, this will give ye purchase on the outside. Then pull yeself out! It's an old trick, but then again this is an old threat.

The wise words came back to him, and just in time. On the ground there was a stony protrusion, and he gripped it like a drowning man would grip a piece of drift wood. And it was enough, for when the ooze moved, it meant that his hand came onto the outside. Then he pulled, using it to drag himself out of the ooze. He kept his body as loose as possible, so that he could slide smoothly out.

He was alive...but only just. But for the wisdom of many a dwarf before him, he surely would have perished.

Sarya saw the cube ooze away from her and she took the moment to stab at it.

AoO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

She saw what was happening with Gazul and opened her eyes wide, astonished. Luckily, the dwarf managed to pull himself out of the thing, so she sprung into action, feeling stupid. She was probably next to be engulfed and she had no idea what to do if that happened. She flailed her sword at the thing, desperate to bring it apart.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

She managed to further splash pieces of its liquid around, despite having no idea if it helped.

"Gazul!" Kasana shouted in panic as the cube swallowed the dwarf whole! Too far away to immediately do anything to help, she drew another arrow but held her shot, not wanting to accidently hit Gazul while he was trapped inside. Should I fire? Or rush in to help? she asked herself as she saw the dwarf subtly move within it. Before she needed to make a decision though, she saw Gazul miraculously begin to pull himself free! As soon as he managed to drag himself out, she fired another arrow at it releasing more of its internal juices on the floor.
