GM Losonti |
Welcome, and thanks for being part of my first foray into running a PFS scenario! Please dot yourselves into the gameplay thread, and post your character details here so it's easy for me to pull them together at the end.

Day Job:
I will post at least once each weekday and once each weekend, but may post more as life allows or as is needed, like if a combat is moving quickly or there's a lot of back and forth with an NPC. Let me know if you expect to be absent for more than a day or so, and I'll do the same.
I'm still putting the slides page together for all of you but expect to have that done and the introductory post up either tonight or tomorrow. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Torvald Stonecask |
Torvald Stonecask here, alchemist hailing from the Sky Citadel of Janderhoff. Spent most of his career wandering around the Land of the Linnorm Kings and connected environs.
Yates Ashkoont |
Thanks for running this for us! I'm looking forward to it!
Player: Sedoriku
Character: Yates Ashenkoots
Class/Level: Occultist 2
PFS #: 108507-10
Faction: Liberty's Edge
Advancement Speed: Normal
Day Job: Whoops no profession skill: 0 = 0
Torvald Stonecask |
Ah whoops! Craft (Alchemy): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
Laafdahni Riverrun |
Thanks for running this game for us, GM Losonti!
Player: Warah
Character: Laafdahni Riverrun
Class/Level: Sorcerer 2 [elemental (water) bloodline]
PFS #: 289224-4
Faction: Concordance
Advancement Speed: Normal
Day Job: Profession (fisherwoman): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Laafdahni often forgets the effects that her striking dark beauty can have on others. When she does remember (or is reminded), her reaction is usually somewhat bemused, though she’s not above using her looks to gain an advantage.
Bahram al-Urgug "Jack" |
Player: mahuffma
Character: Bahram al-Urgug
Class/Level: Bard (archaeologist) 2
PFS #: 340520-3
Faction: Grand Lodge
Advancement Speed: Normal
Day Job: perform (Oratory) : 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
"So it was on ode to the epic poem, 'Home Alone'. The five of us set up all sorts of nasty booby traps for the invading toughs from inside the warehouse..."
Bahram is a half orc, obviously hailing from the desert. He has baggy pants, curl tipped boots, and a Sash that is sometimes around his head and sometimes around his waist. His demeanor, and smile, is reminiscent of a young Harrison Ford
GM Losonti |
Thanks for being in my inaugural group! Waiting on the others to report in but unless they both bring characters level 3 or higher we'll be in the 1-2 Subtier. Pretty sure that's what everyone was going for, though.
Yates Ashkoont |
Any room for a new player - I would like to play an Elf Wizard that is an evoker.
If IHIYC does want to play with us, then I'll gladly give up my seat so the new player can get a spot.

Hmm...is this adventure 'evergreen' for 1st-level characters? I could field a 1st-level character.
Another possibility: Given that this game has barely gotten started, would anyone object if we switched this to "Oathbreaker's Die!"? Without giving too much away, the rewards at the end of that adventure are much better than for "Horn of Aroden". If we did that, I would happily spend a replay to field a 3rd-level character.
GM Losonti |
Based on my understanding, it is not evergreen, unfortunately. I picked this one because it had been already played by the fewest number of players, but if folks would prefer Oathbreaker's Die, I can switch us over to that instead.
Magellia |
Magellia the Andriod escaped her slavery in the wastelands of Numeria in search of a life of freedom.
She still struggles to understand the emotions of other races.
I have played oathbreaker's die. I can use a replay if necessary but i'd really rather not
Player: Jeremy A
Character: Magellia
Class/Level: 2 (Inspired Blade swashbuckler 1/Magus 1)
PFS #: 228375
Faction: Liberty's Edge
Advancement Speed: Full
Day Job: n/a

Would you agree to a roll-off, maybe?
GM Losonti |
If the two of you are fine with doing that, that works. Otherwise I'll go with what I've seen other GMs do, which is that the first thing that gets a vote from half the party is what we'll go with.
If we end up with a situation where we're playing a scenario that somebody doesn't want to use a replay on, then I'll offer the same deal I did to IHIYC. You'll get a reserved spot at my next table and I'll make sure it's a scenario you haven't done yet.
Also: As Yates pointed out, there is one more person in the thread who came in after who'd like to play. Assuming nobody drops, that would make it a 7 player game. While this is legal, it needs to be okayed with all of you. Let me know your thoughts.
Torvald Stonecask |
I have also played Oathbreaker's Die already, so I'd prefer to stick with this scenario if feasible.
Laafdahni Riverrun |
I have played Oathbreakers Die in Core. I would rather not play it in standard now; I like playing new scenarios when I can.
GM Losonti |
Okay, that's 4 votes for Horn of Aroden, so we're going to go ahead with this scenario after all. IHIYC, let me know how/if you'd like to proceed.
Magellia, can you tell me your character number, and would you mind filling in your tag line and character profile? Look to the others for examples of what I mean.
Torvald Stonecask |
Oh! I'm also okay with adding a seventh player, especially if they're new. I don't feel strongly about it either way but I prefer to include people when possible.
Magellia |
I'm fine with a seventh. Sorry about the tagline, I know what to do I just haven't played this one in PbP before.

Thanks; I guess I'll better-part-of-valor this time.
GM Losonti |
That's totally understandable. When you get a chance, would you mind sending me a PM with some scenarios you haven't done yet?
I'm Hiding In Your Closet |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
I'll see what I can do.
GM Losonti |
Sent the thawizkid a PM, still waiting to hear back on whether he'd like to join us. Thanks for bearing with me, but I'm enjoying the character introductions. :)
Magellia |
The introductions are one of my favourite bits. My in person games haven't had any new players in a while so most of our characters already know each other :p-
Bahram al-Urgug "Jack" |
New introductions are great! It's also fun when it's new introductions with one person you may have seen a few scenarios ago. I think that we're all new friends here today.
Magellia |
@Bahram As an archeologist bard you don’t do inspire courage do you? As an andriod Magellia cannot benefit from morale bonuses
Yates Ashkoont |
Just a warning, Yates doesn't use weapons instead he is built to take advantage of improvised weapons. His archetype, Extemporaneous Channeler, gives him the effects of catch off guard and throw anything. Additionally he has shikigami style and shikigami manipulation as well meaning he can hit with an improvised weapon without an attack penalty and deal damage like it was two sizes larger. I also heavily rely on this FAQ to figure out what damage he should be rolling.
Magellia |
....Does Yates use an improvised earthbreaker?
Yates Ashkoont |
If there's nothing else appropriate nearby, or it's what the situation calls for. I enjoy the fun and randomness of using what ever is at hand instead moreso.
Laafdahni Riverrun |
I'm fine with a 7th player. The more, the merrier!
GM Losonti |
thawizkid will be joining us shortly, so I'm going to go ahead and get us started!
GM Losonti |
Scratch that, they were looking for a 2nd edition game. Off we go!
Magellia |
Btw I’m currently paying the kingmaker AP, are there likely to be spoilers?
GM Losonti |
No, I don't think so. The scope of this scenario doesn't take you into the Stolen Lands and Paizo to this day is very circumspect about the outcome of the AP beyond "there is a new kingdom there."
Magellia |
Sweet. I just recognise the surname :)
GM Losonti |
So, either the power supply or the motherboard on my computer just completely ate dirt tonight while I was writing up a post. I'm going to try and get it sorted out tomorrow morning, but right now I'm just too frustrated to be very productive tonight.
Yates Ashkoont |
Sorry to hear your computer is trying to fry itself! No worries, losing what you've written mid-post is super frustrating in addition to whatever computer troubles you are having.
Laafdahni Riverrun |
Considering how far behind I am on getting my kids through their homework, I'm not going to quibble about taking a little extra time between posts. Good luck!
GM Losonti |
Confirmed that the power supply is bad, and have ordered a new one. Should be here in a few days.
Magellia |
I am very sorry, I've had an emergency come up and I may be largely out of contact for the next 3 to 4 days.
Had a major water leak in a back country ski lodge I'm a member of and we need to walk repair supplies, new mattresses, and more into the lodge. Which is about an hours walk up into the mountains. I don't know how much we'll have to go back down to town or how much reception there will be. No laptop, thats for sure.
I'm really sorry everyone.
I haven't been doing PbP for very long so I don't really know the usual protocol here...
GM Losonti |
Oh no, that's awful! There's a couple different options. We can have Magellia be a bit more passive until you get back, which will keep her out of trouble for the most part, or I can take some basic actions on your behalf when in combat. I'll need a copy of your character sheet to do that, since I'll need to know your spells and such. It's up to you but I'll be careful with her.
