Ayita of the Hawk Clan |
Ayita whispers to the room,
I am so sorry that you lost your childhoods, children. Please try to rest in peace; may Pharasma be gentle with you.
She tries to straighten out the toys and blocks, and places one of her juggling balls with them.
Then she tries to aid in the search...

Then she tries to aid in the search...
As Ayita and her companions search the room, three giant centipedes unwind from the broken bunk bed wreckage. From her close vantage, Ayita can see that something's wrong wtih the things. They seem to lack... flesh or internal organs. They are just exoskeletons, animated by the death and dark energy of the house and its tragedy.

AYITA IS UP!
Ayita of the Hawk Clan |
Ayita moves 5 feet to be adjacent to one of the BUGZ -- so that perhaps she'll get flanking at some point too. She's thinking, first BUGZ... now they're undead BUGZ too!!!
She pulls out her rapier and tries to stab one:

Nasir al-Rafik Kamal |
"Well, that made searching a little easier..."
On Nasir's turn he will slash at the nearest centipede that has already been injured with his scimitar. If he can't get to that centipede without taking an attack of opportunity, he will attack the centipede that attacked him.
Scimitar: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Walfrenden |
Walf calls upon the magical arts and casts sleep on the centipedes.
Will save DC 16. I think the 10' radius template if centered in the far back corner of the bed will get all of the centipedes without targeting Nasir or Frantino.
On any centipede spell might work on, you should be able to perform a coup de grace, getting an auto hit and auto crit.
Frantino Kaddren |
Frantino slashes at the monster that tried to bite him.
greatsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19, damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3) + 6 = 12
"This house is beyond haunted!"
GM Derek |
Ayita's hit, although puissant, didn't see to faze the skeletal thing in front of her. The blade of her weapon is not completely effective against it.
Nasir swings and misses with his scimitar!
Walf casts magical slumber upon the creatures. The exoskeletal monstrosities don't even blink (assuming they still have eyelids now that they are animate, dead exoskeletons) and continue their attack upon the living interlopers into their demesne.
Frantino, swings his greatsword and lops off an entire section of the skeletal centipede in front of him. But. It. KEEPS. COMING! It seems to just shrug off some of his assault.
Doc for his part, moves slightly, looks inside and is disgusted by the bugs he sees.
Art/Walf - Good roleplay. I know you know they're immune to sleep, as undead. But would Walf know that? Bravo!
They have DR/Bludgeoning

"WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS HOUSE!"
Without care for his welfare, he charges in to kill the things!
AoO Bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 MISS!
Roscoe swings at the thing with his morningstar.
Morningstar: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 Dmg: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
The sheer power of his bludgeoning weapon crunches the exoskeletal centipede, damaging it even further! All of his bludgeoning dmg went through
AYITA is up!
GM Derek |
The centipedes, sensing the life in front of them, <chitter chitter chitter>, anxious to chew into the flesh of the heroes!
Ayita of the Hawk Clan |
Ayita didn't buy a decent bludgeoning weapon yet... so she aims at the center of a bug with her rapier again:
rapier attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
rapier damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
rolling to confirm rapier crit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
(oh well)
Nasir al-Rafik Kamal |
Nasir's eyes go wide after seeing the centipede continue to fight after taking so many blows.
He mutters. "Sarenrae protect us..."
With the steely resolve of many years of training, Nasir fights on. He notices that Roscoe's blow has inflicted more damage and chooses to bash the same creature with his shield in the hopes of reducing the numbers against them.
Nasir attacks the centipede that Frantino & Roscoe have already hit. If that centipede goes down before his turn, then he will attack the centipede in front of him instead.
Shield Bash: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Dmg: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Walfrenden |
Walf moves in, past Doc and Frantino, risking attacks to get at the centipedes with his earthbreaker.
I believe the move to the only free space in the room will provoke two attacks of opportunity as Walf moves past Frantino.
Walf attacks the centipede marked with red in the hope of opening a space for Ayita to attack the other centipedes
Eartherbreaker Attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16

Walf moves in and tries to duck and weave around the undead things' pincers.
AoO on Walf by purple: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 Dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 6 MISS
AoO on Walf by blue: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 Dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 2 MISS
His own hit IS INCREDIBLE, nearly destroying the thing utterly. It continues, however, barely able to keep biting.
GM Derek |
Frantino mutters to himself, "What are these things? How do I hurt them the most?"
They are undead, obviously. The centipedes are skeletal in nature and have a resistance to everything but bludgeoning damage, Frantino thinks.
Frantino's own swing at the skeletal centipede is powerful. So powerful that it explodes into pieces, its desiccated husk bursting onto everybody adjacent to it!
Fort saves, please, Walf, Frantino, Roscoe and Nasir.

I don't think I posted an action for Walf for round 4 yet, did I? I've been waiting because Ayita might kill the centipede Walf can reach (I think it's hanging on by a thread), and Walf could fail the save and be staggered again. If he is, he won't be able to reach the other one.

You haveNOT posted for Round Four. That’s a mistake/legacy on my part from last round.
