yes you are correct on damage. Remove the +2 dmg on each. I had copied from attacks macro with good hope (which does apply) and failed to remove it. Also assumed 50% damage and not critable since these are not ghost touch attacks.. I also just noticed my line about not having precise shot was lost, so if ghost in melee , -4 would apply).

The ghost was no doubt an intelligent, cunning and charismatic trained fighter in his life, by the way he moves. He appears to be adamant in carrying out his initial promise of ending your life when you refused to return the stolen ring. He appears to have no intention of coming close to the ground, in reach of your deadliest combatants, using his whip's reach to carry out his deadly promise...

Fort: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 20 = 39

As the ghost flees, Brother Rabbit quips. "Ah, I see my reputation precedes me." It doesn't make any sense in this scenario, but that doesn't stop him from saying it. He attempts to punch the ghost where its kidneys would be if it had any.

If it connects, the ghost needs to make a DC 24 Reflex save or be Flat-footed until the end of my next turn (Unbalancing Counter, a Flowing Monk ability.) Which is now, I suppose.

After the ghost flees, Brother Rabbit gives chase. Once again flying into what he presumed was inside the ghost's comfort zone, this time fist first to try and strike it across the head.

Knowledge Checks

@Dora: go back on the thread and take it all slowly. Take your time as I won't do my next post until Sahess has taken her turn. You'll see that I rolled the miss chances for everyone; you may open the GM rolls spoilers and the knowledge spoilers that Lilly successfully rolled before she left. One would assume that she would have shared all of those abilities with you all. Brother Rabbit and Mal are just being good monks and trying to help the GM by rolling their own miss chances (01-50 is a fail) but you don't have to roll these if you don't want to. I can take care of these when I tally up HPs during my turn. I would definitely advise that without a mage and without a cleric you guys must find a way to get the fighters to the action in general, because now you're operating roughly at half capacity as a party, and this one is meant to be challenging for a party working together... in a party with heavy hitters like Thrag and Sahess, I would have my bards switching to a role of buffers and enablers, because last rounds you full attack with arrows did about 4 damage after blink/incorporeal reductions, and the guy has about 200 HPs... also, I'm not exactly sure why you have two animal companions listed, but 7 HD at our level appears to be really underpowered for an animal companion and I must warn you that your pet may be one save away from oblivion. However he's been rolling really high which is great! :)

GM rolls:
Thrag arrows miss 01-50: 4d100 ⇒ (73, 13, 17, 88) = 191

The ghost decides to depart for more bardic shores, but both Mal and Brother Rabbit pummel him on the way out!
Ghost Ref DC 24 or Flat-footed: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

"Crane Style? Snake Style? yes... you seem to be masters in your arts, gentlemen, and you may yet live to see the sun again, but your efforts won't be enough to save her... or maybe even them... " says the ghost, pointing at Dora, then including Sahess and Thrag in his sweeping gesture. He then cracks a smile, perhaps the first he's ever attempted, as the ghostly visage seems to almost crack in two places. He flickers twice, as if to emphasize his point in a strange supernatural way or to entice you to try stopping him in time before he executes Dora. "Something for you senseis to meditate on, I suppose..."

In response two of Thrag's arrows clip the ghost in the shoulder. He barely registers, and he begins to lacerate Dora below. He cackles wildly, now focused on Dora until her very end. Brother Rabbit and Mal decide to continue the fight and rush the apparition- the ghost stops his cackling as fast as he started it and his whip flashes twice towards the two monks, despite the apparent unbalancing Brother had inflicted upon him! was it a ruse? yes... partly: this must have been a well trained fighter indeed in his living days...

Corrupting Touch AoO vs. Mal, Combat Reflexes, Weapon Finesse, High Ground: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 12 + 2 + 1 = 33

dmg, Mal: 14d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6, 4, 2, 4, 2, 5, 6, 5, 6, 4, 2, 6) = 64 Fort DC 22 for half

The whip, amazingly, manages to snag one of the two flying and carpet whirling monks around the leg. The resulting immediate aging of Mal is plain to see by everyone, as is the shock on his face.

The two senseis tenaciously plow forward. Mal misses, his footing disturbed by the aging damage done to his muscles and joints, who are unable to compensate for the flying carpet as it ascends a bit too fast as a result of his sudden weight loss. Brother Rabbit, however, manages to land a punch right on top of the ghost's head! amazingly a loud *crack* is heard!

The Exchange

1 person marked this as a favorite.

AC 32 when aoo taken, including mage armor which should apply, so attack would have hit. Mal confirmed a crit last round so at 3 panache now. Don’t think I’ve ever seen an npc whip specialist in anything, so thats cool. Takes a bunch of feats to make aoos with whip but definitely effective, especially when you hit like that. On another note, we should all be averting our gaze, since I believe miss chances don’t stack (can GM confirm?). I think this is the first high level game I’ve ever been in sans primary casters. Mal can sort of to cast divine spells, but with a limit of 2nd level spells, that is quite limited. Too bad Lilly had to go.

Remarkably, despite being touched by the whip, Mal is unaffected.

Celidrian Duskwalker, pathfinder savant and favorite of Zarta (much to his own chagrin), reached the necropolis, seeking the party he was late to join. Hanoris hadn't told him a great deal about what to expect here, but being it was a necropolis, he bespelled himself as he deemed appropriate until he learned more about the place. Then he entered, looking for those who he hoped would become new friends, or at the very least, good allies.

The sounds of combat caught his attention and he approached, consternation crossing his features as he took quick stock of the situation. These folks were beset by a powerful ghost with a nasty whip and it looked they were held at bay while the ghost attacked them mercilessly. Perhaps a little magic would help here. Magic couldn't do EVERYthing, he well knew, but it could help turn the tide of battles.

active spells before approaching: shield, heightened awareness, invisibility (from ring), anticipate peril, death ward, life bubble, greater angelic aspect, blink, displacement, and true seeing

if necessary, here's an init roll, using heightened awareness bonus init: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24

When he gets within about 75 feet of the ghost, he intones a few words, gesturing unseen behind the veil of invisibility, and casts lightning bolt. Might not be his best spell, but it will tell him whether the spirit has some energy resistance before casting a higher level spell.

spell resistance if nec: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22
elec damage: 10d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 6, 4, 2, 2, 3, 2, 2) = 37 dc 21 reflex for half

Once the bolt is released, and now visible, flies up to catch as many of the party as he can in his 20' aura, as he speaks to the living combatants. "Hello, friends, Hanoris sent me to catch up and join you, but it looks like you are in a little pickle already. I am called Kel, but you can also call me Wiz or Whotsee, as do my friends. How can I help you most right now, firepower or buffs?"

aura provides +4 deflection bonus to AC, +4 resistance bonus to saves vs attacks or effects made by evil creatures, also functions as a magic circle of protection vs evil and a lesser globe of invulnerability with a 20' radius.

What you see is a male half elf with pale silvery hair, dusky skin (not like a drow, more like surfer tanned), and sky blue eyes. He's flying, endowed with white feathery wings, and garbed in a pristinely clean long white traditional wizard's robe, belted at the waist, adorned with silver embroidered designs. He wears a lot of jewelry, including many rings, (though only 2 are probably magical). He smiles warmly in greeting to you all, and hovers in place, waiting to see what will happen next.

Will wait for Sahess a few more hours then will move this forward, as we have 7 players now, and thus I'm gonna trigger the "you don't post daily: you get delayed" rule. Dora I'm listing you 'end of round 3' but that's effectively just to group all the PCs together in the initiative... GAME ON! :)

Dora smiles as she feels the wash of healing on her and Rusty.

YES! Thanks so much. I thought our goose was cooked. Did Hanoris or Lilly send you after us or what? Nevermind! Your timing is perfect, right Rusty!

And GM, I am good with the regrouping of init.
Did her last actions (invis, healing, withdraw, Kn:rel) ret-con and she can change them or is she already invisible and 70' away (AOO? if that happened)?

Will assume she cast invis and song (lingered) dropped, but still in same place on map...correct me if otherwise...

Dora tells Rusty to guard (full defense) and she casts (invisibly) a CLW on herself.

clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 on herself.

Knowledge Checks

@Dora: you already took your turn for reviving finale and invis. ahead of Sahess but I'll allow you to change the wolf action. However you're not getting an extra action for CLW. I should have just bolded Rusty.

ok no worries....I was not sure if she had acted. Did the Kn:religion tell us anything? Ignore the CLW. Just Rusty :)

Sahess begins to cast a long spell. Rusty goes into defense mode.

The ghost floats down 5 feet and releases another burst of Hellfire.

The Exchange

reflex: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (15) + 27 = 42 Evasion, so no damage, I believe Mal's HP total in the bar is correct, including the healing we've gotten, since the only damage he has taken is from the 2d10 gaze that has no save.

Mal looks at the pathfinders joining them, unwilling to be suspicious at this moment," Damned glad to have you!"

He continues his onslaught of attacks, with only only one connecting. He continues to avert his gaze, incase the ghost uses its gaze again.

Oh, and everyone must also deal with this at the beginning of their turn; and Mal you were at -69 pre-Glaube 'cause you got tagged by the ghost previously; Edit: just removed the whip dmg as I realized it got negated by your Blessed Fortitude. Sahess avoids the worst of the blast, though is still quite injured (less so once Glaube heals), she finishes her spell and doubles in size in basically every dimension but still has a difficult time because the number of people blocking her shot has increased. She tries to get underneath the ghost so she can strike at it, but finds that spot already taken also. She wants to breathe ice at it, but isn't sure she can do so without getting an ally in the crossfire. Is there space to breath weapon without hitting an ally?
