@Glaube: Mal is 25' up lying on his flying carpet inside the sphere of light, so no line of sight from the ground unless you decide to pierce the illusion with a Will save and risk looking at a Symbol of Insanity; do you have a way to get there physically? you may redo your action with another spell, as appropriate for your situation.

Kel is going to ready to cast dimension door as soon as everyone gathers around or under him within easy reach... Once all have gathered (except Dora of course), he will arrange everyone to fit into the 4 way intersection just SE of the entry into this room (as well as he can recall its configuration, which shouldn't be too hard since it is a simple 4-way, but see spoiler below), and then dim door everyone there.

Mal Fought defensively this turn, so his AC vs melee attacks is 4 higher due to crane wing, unless an attack is within 4 of the improved AC. If this is the case, per Crane Riposte this provokes an attack of opportunity, and his AC is no longer improved against melee attacks. Furthermore, if any attack is attempted against him and it misses, it provokes an attack of opportunity per Snake Fang. If this attack hits, Mal can attempt an additional unarmed strike as an immediate action. Mal commonly, but not always takes this immediate action attack. Usually the reason he wouldn't take the immediate action is because he intends to use his swift next round to either fervor cast a spell, activate bane, or extend his reach. COMBAT OVER
What do you do?
Dora D Asplora |
Dora calls out
”Here I am. Who all is there? Did we win? I still cannot see a thing.“
Captain Brother Rabbit |
"How long do those wall things last? Might be worth resting there for some time. I'm feeling as fit as a spring chicken but I imagine many of us might be... less fresh."
Wizard of the Coast |
Kel hones in on the sound of DOra's voice and turns in that direction. "Ah, you went that way... We are over here... can you follow the sound of my voice or would you prefer we come to you? The Shining Children are deceased and no longer a threat thanks to our stalwart warriors." Kel will take a few steps in Dora's direction to meet her approach unless she indicates she wants him to come all the way to her, in which case he'll move further, and take her arm, guiding her back to the party. "I'm glad to find you well. I was worried when your song ended so abruptly."
Dora D Asplora |
Forgetting she is still invisible, Dora keeps asking questions.
”You mean they came out of the room? What else was in there? All I see is a bright blurry orange spot permanently no matter which way I look. “
Wizard of the Coast |
"Yes, they came out of the room, maybe following the sound of your song... one of them put up a wall of force between them and us, so I cast dimension door and brought everyone out in the hall to keep them from doing worse to you in our absence. Mal and Thrag demolished them quickly in the hallway. Very impressive displays of martial prowess. Hopefully Glaube can heal your vision soon, by morning at least. In the meantime, you might want to make yourself visible, or stick close to me until your spell wears off, so we don't lose you."
Mal 001 |
I'm assuming you can disable a triggered symbol trap if you have trapfinding, if this is not the case, please let me know
You have my thanks Kel and Glaube, you both saved my life there!

@Kel: As you enter sphere number 2, the same symbol of insanity starts glowing, assailing your mind. Your familiarity with such magical traps allows you to easily counter the subtle manipulations the effect makes on your mind, and you manage to disable it after about half a minute of work.
Thrag |
Thrag positions himself just outside the room and spares a few moments to poke each child with adamantine, cold iron, and silver in turn, just in case.
Wizard of the Coast |
Once both symbols are properly disabled, Kel will give Mal a nod of appreciation of his skill and smile... then turn back to the hallway and softly call out, "This room seems to be clear and safe now, if you'd all like to join us... Please guide Dora here too."
GM PDK |
Treasure: The four (curse-free) mummies seated on the northern wall were the leaders of the builders, and they have been buried with several significant treasures, including a +2 axiomatic short bow, a scroll of forcecage and a scroll of mage’s sword (both CL 18), a lyre of building, and a violin of blasting (functions as horn of blasting; the wielder must be adept at stringed instruments and use requires both hands).
As always, you can use these items before the end of the scenario!
Dora D Asplora |
Dora will stumble into the room once the all clear is given.
So does it lead onward or is this a ... dead...end?
Mal 001 |
It looks like a dead end to me. We found these instruments. Kel said this ones for buildin' and this ones for breakin'. Probably best not to use these inside of here, assuming you don't like being buried alive. unless I'm bad at reading maps
Mal continues on, moving to the left, on the lookout for more threats to his, and his parties, continued existance.
Wizard of the Coast |
"Yes, it's a dead end, but it might be safe-ish, as in defensible, place to rest so Glaube can recover his spells and cure your blindness, Dora. He runs after Mal and repeats his assessment, then waits for a party consensus.
Dora D Asplora |
I am fine if we want to go one more room. I may call up Rusty to ride so I don't need to pester one of you for directions. But I will stay in the back.
The fights have been tough, but Dora is not a primary melee, so feel free to keep going another room if the rest of you still have spells. She has half her songs available. Plus she is immune to being blinded (again). :P
Wizard of the Coast |
"I guess we're moving on... Perhaps I should hang back with or behind Dora, in case something comes up from behind? It's not like I'd be up front anyway..." he chuckles as the absurdity of him saying he'd hang near the back hits him... it's his modus operandi after all.
GM PDK |
After coming to a dead end the party turns around. Mal finds a secret door down the hall. Inside, lying on the floor of this otherwise empty chamber is the mummified corpse of someone dressed like someone who must have been very important in life. The corpse appears to have been moved from his proper burial place long ago by unknown miscreants...
What do you do?
Mal 001 |
Mal makes a suggestion, We already fought an apparition... Maybe that coffin we found earlier was where this one belongs? If we put him back, maybe he'll haunt us no more?
"Hmmm.. based on what I saw, and the position and equipment of this long-dead corpse, I'd say the ghost and this corpse were one and the same, and that he was the driver of the wagon... which means, if I'm right, and I'm not saying I am, but IF I am, we're missing what was once a dead body. As the good Captain here said, who knows what it might be now."
I saw the later discussion that the driver of the wagon was the ghost that attacked us, but maybe he wanted to see the body properly interred, if this even is the missing body and not just a random one, but it seems possible at least, that the dead may take more kindly to us if we treat them with respect. At least, thats Mal's thinking. Its also entirely possible its a different missing corpse and we'll just greatly piss them off. @GM, is it possible to make a heal or knowledge history to try to ID the period of the body and when it'd have been interred and match that to the earlier coffin sans body?
