Hello all and welcome to the discussion thread for our Curse of the Crimson Throne game. Settle in and feel free to talk amongst yourselves as we get ready to start.

Viria Volus |

Hello, everyone. Thanks again to Marik for including Viria on this journey. I look forward to playing alongside you all. :)

Aleziella Libuyaza |

Thanks so much for including me in your game! Greetings to everyone, may we have a great game together!
Aleziella's primary offensive tool at level 1 is slumber. It only lasts one round, but sometimes that's enough. If someone start the turn within 5 feet of a target that failed their save, they can coup de grace to take it out permanently. Of course your characters might not know that, but mine will make sure to point it out if it's relevant. Of course not all characters are comfortable doing that, which could lead to some interesting roleplay.
Given we have so much healing, maybe it's a good idea to swap out my spell prepared... @Sykes: How do you feel about me using enlarge pain on your character? Though if we're going to be indoors it might be less practical.
Do we have anyone with decent social skills?

Sykes Vorkanna |

Enlarge Pain? He got enough of that in Nidal XD
Enlarge Person would be fine, just warn him first :3
And skills wise Sykes has some knowledge and exploration ones.
(Sykes wouldn’t have a problem CDGing someone but it would probably be more dependent on how many other enemies are still up that can still fight)

Viria Volus |

Viria has a decent Diplomacy at +6 this level and will increase as she levels.

Hi, this is going to be a fun game, I think. All characters are interesting.
Combat wise, Joeseph starts a little weak. He deals 1d6 damage at a +3 attack bonus, but his AC goes up to 20 when taking the shield extract. In later levels, he'll grow more useful in combat, with studied combat, sneak attacks, and some support, probably using the alchemist's infusion discovery.
Joeseph is more of a skills guy. In 1 or 2 levels, he'll have points in all the knowledges and can add 1d6 to the rolls, which is amazing. He also has some rogue skills such as escape artist, perception, umd, stealth and disable device, although I couldn't afford thieve's tools with my starting money. Face skills wise I'll maybe be lacking. At early levels I'll have decent disguise with disguise self, and I'm not sure I'll be investing in it in the future, but I'm always open to suggestions and input. At level 2, I'll have good Gather information, but not so good diplomacy and bluff. My sense motive will be good too.
I'll also contribute with craft alchemy and probably brew potion sometime in the near future.
I just hope you can all deal with his hard personality.

Hey, Aleziella. We have the same campaign trait. Want to be a fellow junkie? We could know each other prior to the game.

Aleziella Libuyaza |

Hey, Aleziella. We have the same campaign trait. Want to be a fellow junkie? We could know each other prior to the game.
Sure that sounds great. Though it'll mess up Aleziella's plans to hide her shame, it might lead to some good roleplaying. Do you want to also have been her client?
Despite your character being old for a human, Aleziella is at least twice his actual age. We could both have been on drugs for years if we want. How long have your character been on drugs? Which of us have been doing it longer?
I figure Aleziella just recently stopped with the drugs, so she'll still be suffering withdrawals. From the sound of it, your character has been of for a bit longer.
Looks like Aleziella is the only one not NG alignment. It'll be interesting to see how that affects party dynamics. Hopefully being dazzled won't mess up things too much. I'll probably be using the bow a fair bit for the early levels as she's surprisingly decent at it at +4 attack bonus and 1d8+1 damage within 30 feet.
Oups, I see that I didn't actually do gear for Aleziella. I'm sorry. I'll get to it as soon as I'm able.

@Alezi
Well, I have an idea for our backstory. Joeseph could have hired Aleziella at some point of his addiction, but he couldn't get it up, probably due to the drug. They got into a discussion as he didn't want to pay for it since nothing happened as she (rightfully) said the pay was for her time. In the end, he paid for half as much as she asked and they both left the deal unhappy.
This could have helped Joeseph start to see the hole he dug himself. As you said, he wasn't there for much time. Aleziella could have unwillingly put some light into his mind, which sparkled when he almost died.
Joeseph's backstory also implicitly says that Joeseph's mom worked the nights as well and his mom and Aleziella maybe could have known each other which would make their business even more awkward.

Aleziella Libuyaza |

Joseph's mom died over 30 years ago... I wasn't planning on Aleziella having stayed in Korvosa that long. A few years at most.
The rest of your idea sounds ok. Though it'll make their relationship start of rather awkward. I would like it if we could eventually get to a point where we're close companions that treasure and trust each other. Of course it's still possible to get there from an awkward start.

![]() |

@Ale
I see. Yeah, the mom thing wouldn't work, but the other thing I think would be a little comical. And it gives room for character growth, I feel.
@Sykes
Well, you did read the player's guide. That's the tone of the campaign, I feel XD

Okay everyone, the Gameplay thread is up. Sorry this took so long but I had forgotten how hard it is to craft an introduction into the game. I hope you like them.

![]() |

Just an FYI. I'll be using Roll20 to host my combat maps. If you don't already have an account you will need to create one. Once done follow the link below to join the game.
Curse of the Crimson Throne: On A Knife's Edge

![]() |

Just joined the game, but I've never played on Roll20. You'll probably have to endure my baby steps.

Aleziella Libuyaza |

Do you have a premium account or something to allow access from phone? I've mostly been playing from my phone, though I do have access to a computer both at home and at work. Though I must admit I'm not sure what does or doesn't work from phone. Maybe viewing the map works.

![]() |

I have a pro account. Not exactly what benefit that would have for the players though.

Aleziella Libuyaza |

I thought it was required to use it from the phone, but it seems like it might be possible to make things work without. I do have an account. We'll figure it out when we get there.

![]() |

I did some digging and you may need to download the app form the apple/play store. They say that phone usage is not supported but that tablets are. Some people have reported that it works on their phones.
I tried it on my Galaxy S8 and it doesn't work, the screen is too small and nothing scrolls when I try and swipe.

Aleziella Libuyaza |

What I've done in the past if I have a program that I can only use from my computer, but I want to use it from my phone is to use team viewer to remote from my phone to my home computer so I can control my computer remotely and hence use the program. If necessary I could resort to that.
I think the pro version should allow to use the web version from mobile, but I'm not sure if it's just for you or for everyone.
Sorry for taking up so much time about technicalities, I'm more curious about what's happening next in the game :).

Aleziella Libuyaza |

So how are everyone doing? I find that things are way more busy with the kids not in kindergarden during the day so it's stress to get enough hours in even if I can work from home. Though I try to find time to check the forums a few times per day regardless.

![]() |

My mother has a house in the mountains and that'ss where I and my fiancée came. Very peaceful and we can get lots of work done here. We're safe. Hope everyone is too.

Aleziella Libuyaza |

I've been holding off on posting to give Marik time catch up. Hopefully he's ok and has time for us soon...

GM Whiterose |

Sorry for the delay, I'm still here. Was trying to get some work done before my girlfriend and I go away for the weekend. Will get a post up later this afternoon.

Aleziella Libuyaza |

Go away for the weekend? Where in the world do you live so that is an option? Most places have heavy travel restriction. Hope your trip goes well!

![]() |

We rented a cabin from AirBnB last week. It's just a couple hour drive from here but it's in the woods, away from all the noise. My girlfriend is a nurse and she can really use the time to decompress.

Sykes Vorkanna |

Yeah, playing an antisocial/paranoid/low charisma character is fine as long as you actually integrate it into the adventure.
Gotta be careful not to outright reject joining the group or refusing the plot hooks. If the party or plot isn’t something you want to be a part of that’s something entirely different (aka leaving a bad game) and something to be brought up but I hope we haven’t made you hate us in the short frame of time lol and this is an adventure path so you knew what the plot (band together to stop Lamm, later save Korvosa) was going to be when you submitted a character.
Hope this helps ^w^

![]() |

Well, I'm not trying to stall the story, but I do tend to avoid the 'you seem trustworthy, let's be friends for life just because you're a PC or quest giver' situation (no offense meant).

GM Whiterose |

Not a problem, just waiting for Viria to chime in before I continue.

Aleziella Libuyaza |

In this case we actually have extra reason to be suspicious because of the result of our detect magic though. It's kinda funny. Don't look too closely if you're afraid of what you might find.

Viria Volus |

Being on a different time zone to the rest of you can mean some lags in posting rates. I was sleeping when the bulk of posts were being made earlier. I will make sure to jump on the board as soon as I am able, read and make my own posts. Sorry for any hold up.
:)

Aleziella Libuyaza |

Don't worry about it. You're plenty fast. I figure we might all be different places. Personally I'm in Europe at GMT+1.

Aleziella Libuyaza |

Pbp can be slow. If you can do some more dice rolls like we just did (or perception, initiative, saves etc) to speed up momentum I'm all for it. I'm having fun with how things are going so far.

Viria Volus |

I prefer to do my own rolls, personally. I don’t think it saves that much time if a GM rolls those for a player.

Aleziella Libuyaza |

I figure it takes about a day extra per time he has to stop to wait for us to do rolls. Those quickly adds up. Though everyone have their own way to do things. It was just a suggestion, up to you all if you think it's a good idea or not.

![]() |

I also prefer the GM roll reactive dice for us. But I'm fine if I roll them too. I also think it agilizes things.
