GM supervillan |

My Ravenmoor feasters are about to begin the module's finale, so I think 1 or 2 weeks more till they finish, then we'll start here.

![]() |

Good deal, thanks for the update!

GM supervillan |

I plan to start us off on Monday 6th. Might be a day or two later, depends on my Ravenmoor table. They are almost done :)

![]() |

Oh sweet! That'll be fun.

GM supervillan |

We'll be glad to have you back along :)
This is a tier 3-4. We can certainly hang on whilst you sort out a PC.

GM supervillan |

I think Enhanced Diplomacy is too short a duration to work on Gather Info checks. The spell looks like a double strength guidance for diplo only.

![]() |

Not if you're casting it between approaching people!
Ding!
"Excuse me, sir, have you heard about the Shadow Lodge?"
"Nope."
"All right, on to the next!"
Ding!

GM supervillan |

^^I love this image :) but the spell says it applies to a "single check" and has a max duration of 1 minute, whereas Gather Info is a check that normally takes a number of hours.
Just waiting on Toshiko to check in to gameplay, then we can move ahead.

![]() |

Haha sort of like a "SWAT" team procedure for social interactions? That's a great mental image for sure!

GM supervillan |

Given that you're in a dungeon now, it's a good idea to set a Standard Operating Procedure for exploration. Otherwsie we're going to get bogged down everytime you enter a room with multiple doors.
It doesn't have to be very complicated. Could just be, for example:
"Hiiragi and Onna check each door for traps, Itami and Onna cast Detect Magic; Toshiko and Kenta have weapons ready; then we go through doors in clockwise order if we find no traps or magic auras."
I will use the Rule of Two: whenever two of you agree on a course of action that is what will happen.

![]() |

I'm good with that SOP. Kenta will happily be the one to actually open the door. Go left first until we can't or open each door in a room one at a time so fewer enemies can sneak up behind us?
"Left is right, Right is wrong."

![]() |

Good with that, with the added note:
Hiiragi has her flail ready and will cast Resistance on the first person through each door.

![]() |

Skip Kenta on that spell, he has a cloak of resistance already.

GM supervillan |

I'll wait a little longer to make sure Itami and Toshiko are happy with the plan, then I'll move you forwards.

![]() |

For the record, THIS was an excellent SOP post IMO. All the things we would have done and we now have everything we need to make good response posts before moving on to the next thing! :D

GM supervillan |

^^Aww, thanks. Now I (almost) feel bad for infecting half the party with disgusting parasites! ;)

![]() |

You mean to say that you are surprised someone who sleeps on tavern floors would get some sort of parasites, not to mention she may or may not frequent establishments in the less reputable sections of the port towns.

GM supervillan |

What was the encounter? Curious minds want to know!
A combat with a water-adapted creature. I'll give you more details after the scenario, if you like.

GM supervillan |

I hadn't really noticed what a low-skilled party we have :o
I'll try to keep it in mind for future scenario choices.

![]() |

I can't speak for the others, but I can for Hiiragi and Kenta, "LOW INT BUDDIES UNITE!"
I think most of us just rely on Onna knowing everything because bard, amirite? :P

I think it's better than low skilled, we're low skilled and we all have some manner of face skills! :D
We have like one and a half tricks, but damn if we aren't just all so beautiful! :)

![]() |

A friend of mine once said that a well-placed Wizard makes a Rogue obselete.
Of course, I told him that if you’re using half your spell slots on things a Rogue can do infinity times a day for free, you’re wasting a lot of Wizarding potential, buuuuut...

![]() |

The problem is when a designer assumes you have a wizard or a rogue and you are screwed without one or without one that prepared a specific set of spells. :(
But yes, we may definitely have some major issues on some of the more skill based encounters (though my faith in Onna was well placed :D).

![]() |

Ikari gets a semi-respectable 4 skill points per level, covering urban barbarian and cleric class skills. The only skill I want him to max out on is acrobatics, for combat use. Normally I'd go with Diplomacy and Perception next, but I think we probably have Diplo covered by others (especially Itami).
I may try to drop a couple of points in key knowledges next level, just so they're trained.

I usually take the skill point every level. I want to get at least a point in all the knowledges. Versitle Performance picks up some slack. Eventually will pick up a +2 INT/CHA headband and add another skill.
Early in my PFS career, I realized that I (then) didn't know enough about the game to compete with the optimized DPS builds. However, that usually meant that the table kinda sucked at everything else. I have always enjoyed skill characters, for their versatility. So, I started making support characters, starting with not a skill 'monkey', but a skill 'silverback ape'. My skill optimized 'Investigator' will see everything, know all about it and tell you how to kill it. Then he will step aside...like far off to the left or something. Not combat incompetent, but not much more than chip damage and flank-buddy for many, many levels. Now he can contribute, but it took a long time to get there.
Suffice it to say, I find bards a bit more dynamic than straight rogues. Decent skills with a useful spell list. The key to success with a support character is to actually be supportive. Onna won't get many (read ANY) kills, but if she's doing her job right, the team should be able to hammer the crap out of things.

So what do you guys have planned for PaizoCon Online?
I don't think I have time to get setup to GM (I have done VTT GM'ing before, but find there's quite a lot more work to it compared to pbp or F2F).
I do want to get my alchemist in on one of the tables of The Waking Rune - willing to give Hard Mode a go too :o
