Hello Rhynn,
I just wanted to mention, that I am a newbie to OP, but with some experience with the mobile App game. My Coreset is currently on route from Paizo and I cant wait to play with it.
Hoping for more PLayers to join us.

Hey Kulko,
No worries, online play is fun and happy to get more people involved in it. I haven't played this scenario myself, so chances are pretty good I'll jump in with a character if no one else does and I have some friends I might be able to convince to join us. We'll see what happens. Anyway, if you have any questions let me know I'm happy to answer them!

GReat to hear that you have some ideas to make the thing happen. I alos hope that due to the current crisis some more people will try out online play, once the immediate uncertainty is dying down.
I have got my question answered over in the flaxseed already, but I have a few concerning hero Points.
If you won a scenario your character has not won before,
your character gets a hero point. You may immediately spend
that hero point (and only that hero point) to gain a feat; the
maximum number of each type of feat you may have is equal
to your character’s tier.
If I choose not to spend Hero Point on a feat immediately then I can only ever spent them on Dying and rerolls? Is this correct?
Most people I have seen on the board tier up together with the adventure path, so every 4 Scenarios? Since there are only 3 Types of feat(Power/card/Skill) zthe fourth point is usually not spend on a feat? Or is it better to tier up faster under the new rules?
And since I can only earn a third power feat on the third tier, this is also the earliest where I can ggaina role card, correct?
Thanks in advance.
Kulko
Rhynn Davrie |
Correct, at the end of each scenario you are rewarded one hero point that can immediately be spent on a feat. You can have a number of each feat type equal to the tier, baring specific instances that would allow you to go to tier+1. If you opt not to spend the hero point, then you bank it and it can only be spent for rerolls and resurrections.
I'd recommend going in with an idea of what you want to do with the character. If you intend on taking them through the full of an adventure path, I'd rank up only at the end of the adventure as most contain more than 3 scenarios. If you rank up after every 3rd adventure your character tier will out pace the adventure and you won't be able to play it since your tier must always be within 1 of the adventure you want to play. So a tier 2 can play down a tier or up a tier, but if you are tier 5 you couldn't play a tier 3...and so on.
If you don't care about the full adventure and you are trying to catch up to friends or level up a character for a special, than tiering up early might make sense.
Yes, you'll need to be tier three before you can chose a role card. I suppose it might be possible to be awarded your role in tier two assuming you somehow got to tier+1 for power feat that early, but you still wouldn't be able to use any of the powers available on it until playing in an Adv 3 scenario.
Hope that helps!

BTW Would you be willing to give me some deckbuilding advice?
I have currently decided to go Ranged/Nature/Smash and double down on my strengths, but I am very unsure what allies or blessings to bring.
Any Advice would be very welcome since I am lacking in experience how a OP Campaign is playing out in the long run.
Rhynn Davrie |
Excellent, thanks!
Most of my advice is going to be based around what was available in the class decks as I haven't played a lot of core/curse yet. But I tend to prioritize allies and blessings that enhance my characters strengths or shore up weaknesses.
Most of the tables I've played on are a minimum of 4 players so usually I'm opting for enhancing my strengths as we have enough people to send a specialist to deal with scouted things we have difficulties with and can use those resources for extra explores to go faster if they aren't needed.
Core changes the game a bit and offers more allies that assist others, so I'd look for those helping cards where possible.
Since we are looking at a low player count currently, I'd maybe think about shoring up some weaknesses as well, look for things that add a large die to a skill you don't have for example.
Anyway, hope that guides the choices a bit.

Hey, folks, it looks like it's just the two of you in this one; I find myself with more time than I need on my hands and I'd be happy to join if you need a third. I won't sign up straight out, as I've already signed up for two other games and want to leave space if someone wants it.
I would play someone I haven't tried yet; maybe one of the characters from the Magus deck, as I own it but haven't tried a Magus yet. Maybe Kova, instead; the mechanic for that character mystifies me, which makes her interesting.
Rhynn Davrie |
Zova is definitely a strange one and on my list to give a try one of these days. I approve playing something new, I usually lean towards the odd ones myself. Still a little torn on which way to head here, was some what leaning towards Kasmir just to play opposite some of Harsk's skills, but definitely not decided yet. Still a couple days to decided.
Up to you on if you'd like to tag in, I have no objections as we are still under the player limit I set.

Looks good to me. Now or weakest spot seems to be Dex (Only D6) and Stealth, Acrobatics;Disable (missing completely).

BTW: Do I need to fill any of the downloadble Documents (Character Sheet, Deck Lst) or is it enough to just have a Deckhandler on Google drive?
Rhynn Davrie |
If you happen to have your Core/Curse or Class decks available, it would be good to verify ownership although it looks like we are waiving that requirement for use of Adventure Packs, not sure how that is applying to characters if it's restricted to Core/Curse characters or any character.
For long term play, you'll definitely want to do it though. Here's the instructions:
To verify that you own an item, simply take a quick snapshot of that item along with a note showing the date, and email that picture to Mark Koopman at morkxii@orgplayonline.com. Make sure to include your Paizo forum handle and your PFS #, please! A copy of a receipt is also an acceptable way of verifying ownership.
Other than that, having your deck handler set up and ready to roll is about the only requirements.
In other set up details, I've typically used Google Hangouts for quick discussion of strategy, turn notification, asking for boon usage. Is that something you both would like to make use of?
We also should determine expectations around posting if any. This isn't a hard and fast you must post within x number of minutes, but more guidelines of expectations so we are all on the same page and no one gets frustrated by delays. So let me know how frequently you expect/would like to post.
Harsk from Kuslik by Kulko |
I have joined one other game and they are also using Hangouts, so its fine with me.
As for Expectations, it a bit more complicated. I check the internet very often and reply easily, but I switch off notifications on most of my apps or at the very least put it on Silent mode.
I am pretty sure I will do my turn in the next evening or morning whenever I am up and I will setup my available support in the deckhandler.
Harsk from Kuslik by Kulko |
As far as I understood PbP rules demand 4-6 players in order for the game to be accepted. But I may be wrong.
Rhynn Davrie |
Nah, we are good to roll with less than 4 people, although I'm happy to take another if they come along. I've played and had it count for as few as two and you can post your own solo if you want. Bottomline, we are good to roll.
As far as other pregame configuration, I'd highly recommend making your deckhandler available to view via a link like Kuslik has done as that makes it easier to see what's going on and ask for help if needed.
I'll need to post the starting locations and such, which I'll do here in the next day or two and finally we'll need to pick who to start with if we have a preference.
Other than that, I believe we are good to roll.

I have a few rules questions:
Do we perform a harrowing on this AP? If yes I assume you will draw the harrow blessings for us correct?
Will the negative efect of the harrow apply? Will the positive effect of the harrow also apply?
When I choose a deck upgrade of a high level card of the current harrow suit, may I keep it when in the next scenario finds a different suit?

Goto the Alias.
choose edit profile
In the line classes/Levels enter
(url=https://www.google.com) Ranger #1(/url)
Replace the ( by [ and the url by your deckhandler.

If Seltyiel is typically posting in the morning EST I think it would be useful if I follow up after him. I should manage most turns between 11am and 2pm EST (1 hour earlier until the US switches to summer time too).
This would allow us to slot Bryan or the fourth player in the evening US time.
On a lucky day we might even handle a whole cycle on one day.
BR - Scenario Update |
6-1A: Powder Keg - acquired cards
Longsword (Weapon 0)
Deathbane Light Crossbow (Weapon 1)
Aid (Spell 0)
Force Missile (Spell 0)
Leather Armor (Armor 0)
Light Shield (Armor 0)
Chain Shirt (Armor 0)
War Drum (Item 0)
Mist Horn (Item 1)
Gem of Physical Prowess (Item 1)
Acolyte (Ally 0)
Porcupine (Ally 0)
Archer (Ally 0)
Sands of the Hour (Blessing 0)
The Eclipse (Blessing 1)
For successful completion we also earn 1 Hero Point that can be spent now for a feat. Please let me know what you choose.
Also everyone gets a shot at a boon for completing the scenario during Outpost III, please roll 1d20. Natural 20 wins a the boon.
Harsk from Kuslik by Kulko |
Obviously I'd like to keep my crossbow.
Otherwise I just dont really care if it is item 1 or blessing 1
Weapon 1 1d1000 ⇒ 591.
Boon 1d20 ⇒ 7.
I also take a skill feat Dex +1
Rhynn Davrie |
Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 6
I could use the Item 1 to pick up Gem of Mental Acuity. That should help quite nicely when Honaire isn't around.
Speaking of Honaire, think I'll spend my HP for power feat and pick up:
□ When the ally Honaire would be shuffled into your deck, you may set it aside and, after shuffling, reload it.
Seltyiel - Chthonicthul |
6-1A: Powder Keg: Seltyiel Rewards
Boon roll: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Tier 1, XP 1
I'm fine ceding the upgrade choices to everyone for this one; I'll take whatever level 1 boon is left after Estra chooses.
Spending Hero Point on Skill Feat: Strength [X]+1
Fumbus FNCG |
I think I remember hitting this surprise when I played Damiel, but while you'd think I should want an Item, Item 1s are not that interesting. Since no one else seems to want it as a first choice, I'll go for the blessing.
Deck Upgrade: Blessing 1
Blessing of the Elements -> The Publican
HP: Power Feat - [X] or a local check to defeat an Obstacle or Trap barrier
boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Harsk from Kuslik by Kulko |
I am not very particular as to what I get as long as its not the spell.
Boon Roll: 1d20 ⇒ 20.
Estra - Rhynn |
Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 10 Continuing as normal. =)
Estra is most interested in the spell since I have a lot of different options there. Thinking Harrowstrike or Holy Light for additional combat, but could also easily be convinced for Burst of Adrenaline (add 2 dice to Str, Dex, Con, but end turn after) for all around panic button spell.
If Burst of Adrenaline sounds good, I'll probably spend HP on spell slot, if combat spell I'll take the skill feat for Wis.
Let me know if you all have any preferences.
Harsk from Kuslik by Kulko |
hmm sounds like a nice support spell fro a check with a d6 die. But mostly for others or for escaping a BYA effect as your own dice are to small to be effectively enhanced. As for combat its the same question you asked me How do you feel about the comnbat diff so far?
Harsk will take :
At the end of your turn, you may examine the top card of your location. ([X] Then, you may shuffle your location.)
Fumbus FNCG |
boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 8 Nope!
HP: Card feat - Blessing
I could go ally or blessing, depending on what other people want. Leaning towards ally, since it's useful for me to get multiple BotElements around, but if someone has a killer ally they want, I can get something else. It's just the least mediocre of my options, haha.
I can't believe their are no good alchemical Item 1s. I'm going to want ALL the Item 2s, though. :P
Burst of Adrenaline sounds awesome, but if you think you need to improve your attack spells, I trust your judgement. :)
Seltyiel - Chthonicthul |
6-1B: Tangled Sails - Seltyiel Rewards
Deck Upgrades:
Seltyiel is happy to cede the spell to Estra, and he has no use for an Item since he only has one and it got upgraded last time. So, Ally or Blessing. No preference at all, but will roll in case we need it.
Ally 1: 1d1000 ⇒ 927
Blessing 1: 1d1000 ⇒ 391
Hero Point: Will buy Card Feat: Spell [X]5
Boon roll: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Estra - Rhynn |
Alright, spending the HP on Spell [x]6 and adding Spell 1 - Burst of Adrenaline.
In the end it's unique and cool and I can use it to offset my terrible physical attributes, plus bolster you guys. It's just all around cool, while attacks are just an attack. Good but so far I've been ok on that front. Maybe I'll just punch things to death with my occasional 3d4's. =)

Is there anything all these displayed proxys are meaning.
Can I choose the order the end of turn efects?
1. Use character power to examine
2. Decide to reshuffle
3. Use the scenario power to examine once more
And what happens because of my rolled 20 on the boon?
BR - Scenario Update |
The only really meaning is we need to have Proxy B displayed at the location before we can close the location.
It seems like both happen at the end of turn, usually when that happens you resolve then in the order you would like, so I don't have any issues with an examine, shuffle, examine form Harsk.
Winning a boon means you will get a copy of:
[ ] [ ] [ ] Undaunted Guardian: When you attempt to guard your location, check a box that precedes this reward to automatically succeed.
That typically is supplied by the organizers at some point after the close of a convention, but if you want to make use of it now you can do that. I'll just record the usage on the chronicle sheet I'm making for you.
