This is the most blatant set up for a total s+&+ storm I've seen in a while. Let's see how it unfolds :D

Nothing could ever go wrong here. Everything is fine. Why would there ever be any problems. *ominous telepathic maniacal laughter*

Gotta help a non-American here Jagrur, what does "taking the 5th" mean?

Invoking the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which says that no person "shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself"

![]() |

It took me a few tries, but once I discovered the "Polyline" option when drawing a line, it was pretty easy.

![]() |

Well....the scenario IS called "Bluerise breakout"......
Also...on Roll20 with dynamic lighting and advanced fog of war...this portion of the game ROCKS....at least for the GM. The players (who almost all had darkvision, so only could see around themselves (only) 60' was kinda fun, as one (over Roll20) said "I see it...it is coming for us"....and the rest were like 'What...what is it'.
Yeah....not exactly the best setup of a story...but one I honestly could see happening (though it should only be 1-3 people, not a group of six).

GMParty |

Yeah, the darkness aspect is always fun on Roll20. I didn't get a chance to look through things today, but I should get to it tomorrow morning to sort out the mass of posts that I was hoping wouldn't happen as I was busy teleworking and running a Roll20 game.

![]() |

@GMParty
Do we need to continue going in a line until we trigger something or do we need to wait for you to do something?

GMParty |

You really needed to wait until I was able to post before you moved after that original perception check, and I will admit I've been busy, but also avoiding dealing with trying to figure out the status of things with the large amount of posts.

![]() |

@GM, do you want us to move back to the doors? We rambled a lot but made no definite decisions. The yellow arrow showed our first movement which we can represent as our intent and begin with the first alien stepping out.

![]() |

Yes, despite all the chatter, movement-wise we have only taken pretty much the equivalent of 1 round of actions.
We can go back to post #56, roll initiative and start from there.

Nah, you ended up being ok, with just a lot of rambling like you said, which is fine. It was just slightly intimidating seeing 11 posts before I even had a chance to do anything, when there was some important information you needed to know.

Honestly you are doing amazingly. I played this at a con...it was...well....the word cluster*uck is probably a bit light of a word for it.
When I ran it on roll20 (with dynamic lighting), it almost became a TPK.....mainly because if you could not see the things to shoot at, you couldn't react and shoot at it. Though people said they felt it was super scary.
Both times, doing this IRL was past tough...doing it pbp....I tip my hat to you GMParty.....

Might be out of touch for a couple days.
Botting, if needed. Kadef would always rather talk than fight.
If opportunity offers, his latest trick is Inspiring Boost and it would be his go to action.
He's got 2 healing serums from the scenario, plus 2 of his own, that he'd be more than happy to deliver to people who are hurt.
He'll do minor tasks, like fetch things, to keep more combat able folks in combat.
If he has to fight -- the pulse caster. But if someone is down and needs immediate melee support, the baton.
Finally if a significant number of people (2 ?, plus Kadef?) rest after a fight , he'll use look alive to improve perception and initiative for the next fight.

GMParty |

The weapons are in one large locker. The kasatha guard was able to open the biometric lock to it. It's also possible that Director Ebaki could have access to it.

![]() |

Keep moving the director, Murgatroyd really wants this first kill.

![]() |

I know there's only about a 30% chance it will miss Murgatroyd, and if it hits only 25% chance it won't drop him immediately - but if he's still standing after the armor attacks, oh boy, oh boy! Finally a full attack!

I’m also going to be light on posting this weekend. Should be able to get one up later tonight and maybe also one the next couple days.

![]() |

@GMParty you ok? I think we're waiting for you right? :)

GMParty |

Yeah, sorry. Definitely hit overload of GM'ing and working from home. Had a few days off over the weekend, and finally getting caught up from that. I'll get to it today.

![]() |

It pains me greatly to say this, but Murgatroyd has a -2 penalty to AC due to the charge full action... so that was actually a hit.
Try to tap him lightly, please... minimum damage would be great.

![]() |

@GM (or anyone), can you highlight the door Murgatroyd-01 saw open please?

![]() |

Damage resistance to bludgeoning and at least KAC 16 - this is going to be a loooong fight.

therealthom |

...resistant to electricity and bludgeoning damage. He also knows that fire damage can suppress its other abilities.
Excellent! Kadef is packing a tactical baton and pulsecaster. This foe was custom made for him. At least he can still lob a grenade into the melee. :-P
I think it's worse than KAC 16. I think Party's post was indicating that your 15 would hit, but you failed the strength check. So you've got to hit the AC (which could be quite a bit lower) and make the strength check.

GMParty |

You’re both half right. Though rereading, I think that handaxe may have actually hit. I’ll fix it when I make the next post if so.

therealthom |

Brookwillow, I feel like there is still a fight left for us. Don't give up hope.
If Kadef was smarter, he might speculate that the Smoker is probably built like an airlock. You can't have both doors open at the same time. The engineering adepts among probably have some work left.

![]() |

We had the armors and the oozes as encounters - perhaps the radiation lab or the whole trapped floor also count as encounters, though I doubt it.
I think the smoker will be encounter 3 and whoever hacked the building will be encounter 4.

GMParty |

You're not out of the woods yet, I'll get around to posting some info on the Smoker in a couple hours.

![]() |

Thanks mate, happy to help (and a nice reroll also helps!)

![]() |

You smoked that smoker
*bad um tss*

![]() |

And this fight is the one big issue I have with the scenario....all this map and we are basically confined to maybe a 5x4 area.......blech.

![]() |

We can move back, give more room for the ranged folk - perhaps even use some of the leftover traps against the enemies.

The map makes sense from the perspective of how an office would be laid out, but it does have a giant waste of cubicle space and then no space for a fight that would benefit a lot from being even 1 more row of squares larger.

therealthom |

Ouch. I think Murgatroyd's down. Should have inspired him last round, but he didn't look that hurt then.
You guys are doing great execution on the enemy though. I think Jagrur and Friend just polished off vesk, the second.
Will the ysoki run for it or not?
***
I can see how this scenario would work better with a smaller party.

![]() |

Now I don't remember if my hit points were full or not - if they weren't, that hit would've dropped me even with full stamina.
It's a bit sad to sleep through the boss fight, but fighting an operative boss with no resolve points is a bit much - let's just say Murgatroyd did his part in previous combats and will let the rest of the group shine.
Unless someone heals me, then I'll jump the boss right away.
