Fitch
Level 1 Once during the adventure, the PCs can gain a +4 bonus to any non-gunnery skill check during a starship combat.
Level 2 When using the reward above, all the PCs' nongunnery skill checks made during the same round gain the +4 bonus.

Iteration-177
Level 1 A PC can gain a +2 bonus to any one Mysticism, Perception, or Sense Motive check within the Scoured Stars. This allows the PC to count as being trained in Mysticism for the duration of the adventure.
Level 2 In place of the reward above, a PC can add a +1 bonus to any one saving throw while within the Scoured Stars.

Venture-Captain Arvin
Level 1 Once during the adventure, the group can gain the benefit of aid another (+2 bonus) to all skill checks for 1 round.
Level 2 When using this reward, the benefit applies to both skill checks and attack rolls.

Celita
Level 1 Once during the adventure, the PCs gain a +2 bonus to any one starship combat gunnery roll, and that attack does not consume ammunition in the case of a weapon with the limited fire property.

Zigvigix
Level 1 Once during the adventure, each PC can requisition a weapon with an item level up to the PC’s level for the duration of one mission. The group must use this ability prior to starting a new encounter, and this ability cannot be used during Part 4. The weapon comes with a full battery or magazine.
Level 2 In addition to the reward above, the PCs can also requisition a single consumable item with an item level up to the PC’s level. These consumables cannot have permanent effects, and PCs who don’t use them during the course of the scenario must return them at the end of the adventure.

Radaszam
Level 1 The PCs can reroll any one skill check while in the same location as a fleet.
Level 2 Once during the adventure, while in the same location as a fleet, the PCs can instead activate this reward to gain a +2 bonus to each of their initiative checks for that mission.

Tower Intel: When the Overseer GM announces that the Tower Intel condition is in effect, the PCs receive a flood of data from the secured scanning towers. Once per encounter for the remainder of the scenario, each PC can roll twice on any Intelligence-, Wisdom-, or Charisma-based skill check or starship combat check and take the better result.

Character Profiles

Please have a profile header displaying a brief overview of your character's current status. At minimum it should include current/maximum SP, HP, Resolve, EAC, KAC, & saves.

In the character profile, please include a complete stat block. If you have your character sheet on a different site, please have a link to it.

I highly recommend the following template but it is not required.

Botting

Botting is when someone else makes a roll or otherwise does something on behalf of your character. Bot is short for robot.

Please include instructions in your profile and a general tactics in case someone else needs to bot your character. I highly recommend this include the dice expressions used for common actions.

Initiative in PbP

I will roll all Initiative checks for PCs and NPCs, sort them, and organize them into blocks. I will bold the names of characters that should act.

When it is your turn to act, please post. Do not wait for someone else to post just because they had a higher Initiative. If you know what you want to do but want to wait for someone else’s action to go off first, just say that.

I (and most other PbP GMs) do grouped Initiative in order to keep the adventure moving. In PbP people will have different posting schedules and often live in different time zones, Waiting for posts in order could make a single round of combat take days to resolve. Even in a normal game, that slows things down too much. In a special, you would never have time to complete anything.

Within the rules, it is as if everyone within the same Initiative block delayed until they could post.

If there are rules questions, please post them in the discussion thread. GM's are teople poo so please do not be afraid to question if I have made a mistake. One of the advantages of PBP is it allows some time to research rules questions.

Boris can alternate between Captain/Engineer, Shaan is our Ace Pilot, I'm +5 Gunnery, and Raia can alternate between Engineer/Science Officer.

Then outside of Starship Combat she can roll Computers, Life Science and Physical Science, which we don't have otherwise.

Yep, Shaan can handle piloting or gunnery and not much else. He's pretty lacking in skills generally. But he'll hit stuff for you.

You're welcome to roll for each of the preparation missions, even if you don't have an appropriate chronicle, which is to be expected at low tier. Also feel free to use aid another (which you can do untrained as the DC is only 10), just declare that you are aiding when you roll. As a general rule, I'm not picky about the order of aid and primary rolls in PbP.

FYI: Table GMs have been asked to think of us poor 3-4 player tables first (us and one other I believe) when passing Aid Tokens, so use them often!

Not that I expect there to be any starship combat in this mod (lol) but we should probably discuss roles. Boris has a decent diplomacy (+8) and not much else. Engineering is at +5 and his attack bonus would be a massive +1...

Good thought. We should try to stay away from the Jinsul fleet with less than a full table. Since we'll only have one gunner, may as well go with the Pegasus to have a better chance of that one good shot.
That's my opinion... usually any group i've been in grabs the Drake for the extra firepower so....

I used to regularly drive two hours north, south, east or west to find a game, plus my own city and online, and I came to find regional variance and assumptions fascinating ^_^

One city would gripe about a class, one city favored one ship over the other, one city all the spellcasters did the same thing. Then drive to the next city and it's all flipped!

Combination of charismatic GMs/players and a well-balanced system, is what I chalk it up to.

Heh. Agreed. I am fortunate to have 3 nice cons within an hours drive from me spaced out nicely over the year. SFS is hugely popular at one, middling at another and almost non existent at the third.

Now, I'm still hoping this mess is cleared up enough for the next Con at the end of May to happen...

Hey, all. I just received word that my work is closing permanently and I'm being laid off. I suspected this might happen, so I wasn't caught too off guard, but it still sucks to say goodbye to something I've been doing for fifteen years.

Well. Trying times indeed. Shaan, take care of yourself and your family. Sauros, get started on that ASAP for sure. Sadly you are not alone in that circumstance. We'll figure this out.


Tough times for all. Real life comes first, everyone knows. I'm also happy to slow the pace down a bit for a few to hopefully give Sauros and Shaan more time to post if you are able, despite this being part of a special. This table has been keeping great pace so far, already contributing to 2 of the 5 scout missions and I am confident you will contribute to this one as well. The way specials are setup, if every table is pulling their weight none should complete all the missions. We have so far been keeping up with GM Hmm's table and she is known for running fast paced PbP games.

My father passed peacefully earlier this week and I'm now back home. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we couldn't have a funeral and I have to self-quarantine from my child, so it's a strange way to mourn.

I'm just starting to get plugged back into my PbP games. I'll try to catch up on the thread for this one tomorrow and post in the gameplay thread to be back in the swing of things. Thanks for botting me so far and I hope it hasn't been any inconvenience.


Sorry for your loss, and the extra difficulties these times impose on an already difficult event.

We are (hopefully) finishing up a starship chase, so the order of movement and stunts have been fairly unimportant.

Ok, I'm finally getting caught up now. But I'm afraid my relative lack of knowledge of the Starfinder system is catching up with me. It looks like we're in starship combat? Can someone advise me about what - if anything - I'm supposed to be doing right now? The only starship combat I've done so far was my one other time playing SFS on PbP, and I can't say that I really got the hang of it.

Also, not sure if it was noticed but Shaan has the following boon slotted:

Ch. 2: Defender of the Fleet: Pick 1 option: a) Finest Computers: improve starship computers by 1 step (from mononode to duonode, or from duonode to trinode). Or upgrade computer's bonus by +1 (to max of +8); b) Finest Engines: increase speed of thrusters by 1 step (can't upgrade beyond what that size ship can have); c) Finest Weapons: when rolling dmg, reroll any dmg dice with a result of 1 on the die.

I never picked an option because I don't really have the rules knowledge to have a sense of what they mean or which I would likely prefer, but if the GM will allow it I'll pick one now (if y'all have an opinion) and it can apply to this current combat?

I'll probably choose thruster speed - seems like it goes with Shaan's piloting shtick - but what does mononode vs duonode vs trinode mean?

Got it - thanks. Yep, confirmed that I'll choose thruster speed.


Finest engines increases the speed of your thrusters by one step. In this case from M10 to M12. A very useful boon in this chase. Unfortunately M12 engines also impose a -1 penalty to piloting. (Almost irrelevant in this particular combat so far. It also would not affect piloting in a Drake, as the Drake would go from M8 to M10.) I should have been subtracting a -2 for the glitching power core but I forgot. Unless Raia patched it somewhere and I missed it.

To my knowledge radiation and poison go straight to HP.
