Orin grumbles to himself "Afterwards... someday I'll meet a cleaner who's actually on call..."
Orin will take an alchemist's fire in case it comes in handy later.

Wei watches the trail, taking in the signs of the caravans passing. "Do you think this would be enough to angry the kami? Broken plants and discarded items?" As the form materializes before the group, he pauses and scans the tree lines for other apparitions.

Everyone realizes that the spirits need a host to interact with the material world.
Does anyone want to host a spirit?
Wei Zhang |
Wei watches the spirit, "I have heard of spirit beings like this, those too weak to interact with our world." SPOILER opened He moves forward slowly, "While it needs a willing vessel to communicate through, it should lack the strength to control the vessel."
"I am willing to take that chance and be its host." Barring objections or better plans from his teammates, Wei steps forward holding out an open hand to the being.
Willing to be the test subject unless there's a big objection.
Orin_Thunderstone |
Orin nods to Wei "I think yer right, but'll be keepin' an eye on ya just in case..."
Emmanuel Holysmith |
"Are you sure you want to be the host, Wei? Plenty of room in my head."
Manny will nominate himself to host a spirit. If someone else picks Wei he will back off.
Hookie of Saranrae |

"Hookie have enough trouble with only Hookie in Hookie's head. Better not let spirits in, too. Oh, and also Saranrae. She am speaking to Hookie, but sometimes she sounds like Hookie stomach gurgle. Mostly She am telling Hookie to eat something. But it am holy when She am saying it." Hookie commiserates.

Wei steps forward. The spirit wraps its arms around him and they make some pottery as it shares its memories with him.
The spirit observed the thief infiltrate one of the wagons while the guards were distracted repelling the attack, and then sneak away holding a sack of clanging valuables and the relic Venture-Captain Amara Li seeks.
Because of your connection to the spirit, you may reroll a saving throw once per encounter. But you are also distracted by the snow and take a -2 Perception penalty for the rest of the scrnario.
A second spirit approaches.
Wei Zhang |
As Wei shares the details of the spirits vision, he also conveys the lingering feeling of the possession "It is still with me. Trying to help, I can feel its fascination with falling snow... So beautiful, simple. Pure." Spoiler open
He snaps himself back to the moment, "It seems there is more to learn." Wei steps back allowing another to interact with the next spirit, he holds out a hand and absentmindedly admires snow as it lands and melts...
Orin_Thunderstone |
Orin glances to Emmanuel "You may just get your wish, lets wait just a moment to make sure Wei doesn't go berserk first though."
Emmanuel Holysmith |
"Falling snow, eh? Sounds cool." Manny steps up to the strange spirit. "Emmanuel Holysmith, pleased to meet ya. Friends call me Manny."
GM Watery Soup |
Manny steps forward. The spirit merges with him and he closes his eyes, whispering, "I am the Keymaster."
Because of your connection to the spirit, you may reroll a saving throw once per encounter. But you are also distracted by the snow and take a -2 Perception penalty for the rest of the scrnario.
Led by the spirits moving aside brush to reveal wagon tracks, snagging lost scraps of fabric on trees, you quickly find your way to the caravan, stuck in the snow. Two Pathfinders approach you.
Lin Po is a short, heavyset Tian man with a round, cleanshaven face and an irrepressible sense of humor, affable even under stressful conditions. His partner Ti Lan is an athletic woman who stands a few inches taller than Lin Po, with broad shoulders and a stern demeanor.
"Thank you! We feared we would be trapped in the forest forever."
They explain the source of their predicament, starting with receiving a message from the kami within the relic shortly before reaching the village. The message was vague, but they were able to discern that the kami was trapped within, and that it was afraid that some sort of nefarious force in the forest would try to capture it.
At the time, they had a strong sense that the kami’s ward was close by, and they convinced the caravan to take a minor detour to assist a spirit in need.
Unfortunately, the detour ended up being far longer than they expected, as the theft of the relic disrupted their plans. Since then, they have been following trails left by the spirits in hopes of finding their way back to the spirit road. The have glimpsed the thief in the distance several times, still carrying their bag, but they have never managed to catch up with him.
They surmise that the spirits are trying to lead them to the thief.
You'll have an opportunity to ask one or two questions before, um, something happens.

Emmanuel Holysmith |
"Wow. I'm seeing colors, man!" Manny feels his hands as the spirit's visions fill his vision.
---
"'Sup everyone." He gives a hearty greeting. "I think the thief was trying to control the spirits using a relic and a book. So yeah. Any idea where the thief would go?"
GM Watery Soup |
Hookie: the Pathfinders don't know what the thief looks like. But Wei did declare his spoiler open ... :)
Emmanuel, Chikamin: the Pathfinders shrug. They're following blindly.
Orin: Lin Po says, "Weeks. We've been harried by nearly every forest guardian that the forest ... oh no ..."
A distant thumping can be heard as more of the forest guardians rumble. Orin felt it first, though.

The creatures are constructs, so the Recall Knowledge is Crafting. By virtue of being possessed by the first spirit, you (Wei) can Recall Knowledge even without seeing them. Because you opened the spoiler, everyone in the party can actually Recall Knowledge without seeing them, but they will take a penalty because they're hearing about it second hand from your account.
Emmanuel Holysmith |
"Yikes, snow's falling and more constructs are moving in!" Manny strums his lute to Inspire Courage among his teammates. That's a +1 bonus to attacks and damage rolls.
Manny draws his whip and moves into position.

Edit: Glimpse of Redemption, in case Orin gets shanked! Trigger: An enemy damages your ally, and both are within 15 feet of you. Your foe hesitates under the weight of sin as visions of redemption play in their mind’s eye. The foe must choose one of the following options:
1. The ally is unharmed by the triggering damage.
2. The ally gains resistance to all damage against the triggering damage equal to 2 + your level. After the damaging effect is applied, the enemy becomes enfeebled 2 until the end of its next turn.
Wei Zhang |
Wei follows after Orrin and Hookie, "Is there any sign of the kitsune?" As he comes to a stop next one of the creatures he launches into quick series of strikes before he lifts his shield into place.

Round 1:
Emory casts Tempest Storm on Red (Focus spell, DC 17 Reflex)
Uncommon, Air, Electricity, Evocation
Traditions: Primal
Cast: [2] somatic, verbal
Range: 30 feet
Targets: 1 creature
Saving Throw: Reflex Save
DC: 17
You surround a foe in a swirling storm of violent winds, roiling clouds, and crackling lightning. The storm deals 1d12 electricity damage. The target must attempt a basic Refiex save. On a failure, the target also is clumsy 2 for 1 round and takes 1 persistent electricity damage.
Emory readies his healer's tools.
Electricity damage: 1d12 ⇒ 1
Mister Gunter slams the point of his spear into the ground and with a whisper and gesture, electricity arcs from the spear to Red.
Chikamin |
Chikamin's eyes turn bright and feral as she runs forward to meet the new opponents, slashing at the first one she gets near.
1 action to go into full draconic rage, 2 for Sudden Charge.
Melee attack on Red: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Slashing damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 +4 acid damage
GM Watery Soup |
Chikamin charges at one construct, but her slash bounces off its armor.
Emory conjures up a storm.
Red Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
But it doesn't do much.
Hookie slashes at the construct, the first one bouncing off and the second sinking into its armor. It doesn't do as much damage as it should have, but it's still first blood!
Wei bashes the construct. The first bounces but the second hits.
Orin strides up to Green and drives his pickaxe into construct's skull. It crumples to the ground.
The victory is short-lived. Blue steps forward, swinging at Orin, then Hookie.

He moves ahead and then cracks his whip at the Blue guardian, trying to trip it.
Athletics vs Reflex DC: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 1 = 17
GM Watery Soup |
Blue is prone!
Lin Po fires a crossbow at Red. It autohits, which is silly, but them's the rules.
Lin Po: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Ti Lan fires at Yellow.
Ti Lin: 1d8 ⇒ 5
With each hit, a gash opens up in their armor. Their armor is broken - their AC is lower and they have no hardness any more.
Yellow steps forward, swings at Wei
Yellow, Wei: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Bludgeoning: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Hookie, you can use GOR here if you'd like.
And Chikamin
Yellow, Chikamin: 1d20 + 6 - 5 ⇒ (1) + 6 - 5 = 2
Bludgeoning: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Red strides forward (this is difficult terrain and provokes from Orin) and swings at Hookie
Red, Hookie: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Bludgeoning: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
And Wei
Red, Wei: 1d20 + 6 - 5 ⇒ (20) + 6 - 5 = 21
Bludgeoning: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Hookie: only 1 reaction per turn but if you didn't use it above you can use it here.
I would like to resolve all the reactions before we move on.
GM Watery Soup |
Wei takes 11 damage total (4 from Yellow, 7 from Red).
Red is Enfeebled 2 until Hookie's next turn.
Wei Zhang |
Wei watches Hookie focus on the RED construct as it strikes, nodding his gratitude as he sees the construct become shakey and weak.
First Action - Guarded Step; Second Action - Trip YELLOW; Third Action - Flurry RED
He weaves between the two constructs Wei places a foot behind YELLOW one while moving his shoulder into it trying to throw it off balance.
Athletics/Trip: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
As he moves behind the other RED construct he lashes out with a series of punches and kicks.
Flurry 1/RED: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 1 = 21
Damage 1/B: 1d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 = 7
Flurry 2/RED: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 1 = 11
Damage 2/B: 1d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 1 = 4
Should be flanking for both YELLOW and RED now.
Orin_Thunderstone |
inspired AoO: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 1 = 29
piercing damage: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10
crit damage + fatal?: 1d10 + 5 + 1d10 ⇒ (9) + 5 + (10) = 24 on a crit
GM: To avoid slowing things down you're welcome to roll the AoO for me. I try and leave a note on my post regarding relevant reactions so you know what's going on. That said I check in several times most days so the wait tends not to be too long.
Emory Gunter |
Mister Gunter Casts a 3-Action Heal:
Mister Gunter flouishes a complex jesture, and chants a gutteral sound that imitates thunder...He breaks a stick over his knee, and positive energy spills out of both sticks permeating the party with life-giving energies.
With renewed hope comes victory...
Everyone in the group gains: 1d8 ⇒ 7 Hit Points of healing.
GM Watery Soup |
