At this point the man speaks, his accent heavy. As delightful as this conversation is she is still our hostage.

![]() |

”Just what do you wish to accomplish with all these theatrics, young man?” Matrialda’s tone is more gentle than one would have guessed, as if she is remembering rash actions of her own youth. ”What brings a son of the Revolution to the land of the Eagles?”
Diplomacy to aid: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
”And how might we address you? We do not wish for violence any more than you appear to - tell us your problems and we’ll see if we can help.”

GM Ietsuna |

I am detaining an escaped fugitive from the Red Revolution at the request of my employer, who has insisted on remaining uninvolved for security reasons. I detest bloodshed, but I will fight if you force my hand. I have a job to do.

GM Ietsuna |

I have read, I need time to think of a response. I am not ignoring you all

![]() |

How long is the staircase? Would it be possible to get down the stairs between the man and the girl in one round?

![]() |

Martialda hums to herself as she waits for the boy to come to his senses.

GM Ietsuna |

I do have concerns about what my employer will do with this young lady, but I have accrued debt in acquiring her and I cannot afford to pay them without handing her over. I have been holed up here, thinking my way out of this.
The Red Revolution is the common name of the decades-long period of paranoia, upheaval, and public executions that still grips Galt.

![]() |

I suppose that you would be most reluctant to tell us the name of your .. "employer"? Or about the amount of your debt to him? Yet you already think your way out, because you might feel the price too high to pay. How could we help you?

![]() |

Trying to get a sense of the girl's emotional state ... Scared at all?
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
He nods along with Mallycorn's statement. "Indeed ... if there is a way we can resolve the girl's safety to everyone's satisfaction, that is preferable to things getting ... unpleasant."
Diplomacy(untrained assist): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Also, what is the distance down the stairs?

GM Ietsuna |

The girl is quite comfortable. The stairs are not that long. Literally down from first floor to basement level, so call it 10-12 feet? We don't have basements here, so I am guessing
The amount of my debt is 50 gold pieces. I, as a simple man, do not have that kind of coin.

GM Ietsuna |

I will hand over the girl and tell you all I know of my employer if I am allowed to leave here unharmed.
I have not joined the revolution, but I do sympathize with the populace.

![]() |

Fentar's tongue flickers uncomfortably, "Release the girl. You do not need to 'hand her over' to anyone."
"We do not spill blood unnecessarily. You may leave."
Fentar looks around at the others to check that they share his sentiment.

![]() |

The matriarch pulls out a hand-knit pouch and a smaller (also hand-knit) bag. ”Child, we don’t want to hurt anyone,” she says sadly, pulling coins out of the larger pouch and placing them into the smaller. She passes the small bag around to the other Pathfinders, starting with Mallycorn.
Totally fine time pay 10 gp to resolve this without injury.

![]() |

Krystiana puts 10 gold pieces into the pouch. "War is fine if there's a purpose. Every soldier knows that. The Red Revolution is a war whose lost its purpose and just consumes everything like a ravenous beast. Freeing someone from its debt would make Arshea smile."

GM Ietsuna |

He takes your coin. Thank you. This will see me clear. He lets go of the rope and unties his hostage.
My employer was a Taldan man with brown hair. Here, this is the note he sent me to arrange the place where we met.
He hands over a letter to you. It details a rendezvous location where the two met to discuss this job. The man is likely long gone from there, but perhaps the note holds some clue. The note has some residue and stains on it.

GM Ietsuna |

The young woman stands. May I see that note please? She spends a moment reading over it. A spark of recollection dawns in her eyes. I know this handwriting. It belongs to Koriana, who sometimes corresponds with my father.

"Koriana? Oh, you must mean Coriander - we passed their shop on the way into town. You said it smelled like someone left a cake outside for a week in the rain and sun, didn't you Crystal? I guess that's what happens to children who mix such dangerous chemicals together. Just you watch - she'll lose an eye to that stuff one day if she keeps it up, mark my words."

![]() |

Fentar puts a scaled hand over his face for a moment, please, gods, tell me that daddy isn't trying to scare his daughter into his worldview with some nonsense?
"Well, let's go meet Koriana." Fentar cocks his head to one side and looks at the girl, "Would you like to come along?"

GM Ietsuna |

I will accompany you on the condition that we do not go directly to my father's home.

Lotho contributes 10 gold toward the ransom. "Consider this a down payment on an honest life moving forward. If you need a way to make money, consider looking up a local Pathfinder Lodge."
He nods to the others. "Yes, to the alchemist shop ..."

GM Ietsuna |

In the cellar you find a lockbox contains several silver and gold bars stamped with the insignia of a Chelish noble house. In addition, there are three carefully folded pieces of parchment: a scroll of blood biography (Pathfinder RPG Advanced Player’s Guide 206), a scroll of seek thoughts (Advanced Player’s Guide 242), and a brittle contract promising aid from House Morilla of Taldor to the Sauer family in return for future favors.
Leaving the small cottage you trek back into town to an area known as Deadeye Cross where the alchemist shop is located.
Travelling on the road toward your destination two figures appear ahead of you travelling toward you. They are a ways off but moving closer with every step. One is human shaped and the other looks to be a cow. When you are 100 feet away from them the farmer begins to raise his hand in greeting as a four wild dogs race from the field on the side of the road and begins to attack the farmer and his cow.

"Hmm. This might come in handy later," Matrialda murmurs as she carefully wraps the contract carefully.
----------------------------------------------------
"Oh dear," the matriarch says as the Pathfinders notice the farmer. "Clotho, Fatal, Crystal, do be heroes and go give the poor lad a hand." She looks around for their new companion, wary of more dogs trying to sneak up behind the group.

"Sauer? As in Sauerton?" Fentar snorts, "how old is that thing?"

Seeing the dogs attack, Fentar rushes forward seems odd, just when we are busy...

Lotho moves forward, drawing one of his javelins. He hurls the weapon at one of the dogs.

The second throw goes wide, probably because he's too concerned now about hurting the farmer. Yeah, that's probably it.

The farmer and his cow have minor scrapes and cuts, but will recover fine now that you have intervened.
The dogs turn their attention to the group.
