Are we allowed to sell starting equipment for extra gold to buy other stuff?

Been busy, should have character done soon.

<Waves> hey there , Helaman!

If you don't like the starting gear, there is an option to just take cash in the gear section I believe.

These are the applicants so far who have submitted a character concept:

Tyne – Wood Elf Monk
Quarion – Moon Elf Bard
Juergen – Human Barbarian (missing backstory)
Ziyad – Human Wizard
Krusk – Half-orc cleric
Faris – Half-elf fighter

Let me know if I've missed anyone.

Good to see ya!

Here's my submission (markofbane). Kwin is a halfling ranger. He's mostly done. I just need to finish his background, but most of it is there and should give you the gist of it. I'll try to finish tonight or tomorrow.

Juergen background:

Juergen was born in the Stone-bear barbarian village at the base of Kelvin's Cairn in Icewind Dale. He had a harsh and violent childhood fighting to survive the dangers posed by the climate and environment in that region of the world. In other words, he had a normal barbarian childhood. At the age of 13, he underwent the normal rite of passage to manhood for his tribe: survive a week in the cold and bring back a bear pelt. It was a harsh ordeal, which Juergen barely survived. Upon his return to the village for the much awaited celebration, instead of his proud parents awaiting him, all he found were screams of death and destruction! The white dragon, whom his tribe called Frostwing in whispers, had descended upon the village from his lair for the first time in his lifetime. To make matters worse, Juergen swore there was a masked humanoid on the dragon's back who rained down fire on his village. Despite his battered and wounded condition, the teenage barbarian attempted to run to his village's aid, but the dragonfear stopped him cold, paralyzing him as he saw every member of his tribe struck down. As he saw the great beast land and take notice of him, the humanoid on back laughed at the boy and began casting magic. Juergen silently swore vengeance on the pair and ran away, expecting the bolt of magic that would end his life, but it never came. He ran and ran until he collapsed in the snow from fatigue and/or blood loss from his existing wounds. He was found by a patrol of guards from one of the towns and nursed back to health until he awoke and found himself in chains. Not for humanitarian reasons, mind you, they wanted to know why the barbarian was so far south and if there was a barbarian invasion imminent. The guards laughed at his tale of the dragon and its rider, and eventually agreed to escort the young barbarian to his homeland. All Juergen found were the cinders of his village and the frozen and burnt corpses of his family and tribe members. Furthermore, the mounds where his ancestors had been buried had been desecrated and dug up, apparently the motive for the dragon's attack. To this date, the barbarian has no idea what was taken. With no place left to live, Juergen returned to the Ten Towns in the custody of the guards, where he was jailed for 6 months prior to being released and allowed to live on the outskirts of town. It was not until a few years later, when Juergen helped the town fend off some trolls that he was allowed to live in the town, serving as an honorary town guard. It was there that he learned mastery over polearms. At the age of 18, Juergen left town with his only friend, Timmons, the local arms merchant. who was the only one to date who believed his tale of the white dragon and the rider. Unbeknownst to him, Timmons was secretly a Harper agent. They traveled together down the Sword Coast until they arrived near Greenest and Timmons recruited Juergen to aid the Harper cause and investigate recent Cult of the Dragon activity in the region. The barbarian leaped at the chance to do so: he has a pathological hatred of all dragons and one day, he will return to exact his vengeance.

Juergen is complete. Recruitment ends tomorrow at 6:00 pm EST.

I finished Kwin's background (in his profile), so he should be ready to go.

Well, it's that time (15 mins early is no big deal). Thanks to all who applied. I've decided to go with the following characters and will work out character survivability later:

Quarion
Juergen
Ziyad
Kwin

Those selected, please report to Discussion thread.
