Lief Stoutspear
”I don’t have one either,” Lief answers as he looks at the wall. ”I’ve climbed plenty of trees, and a couple low cliffs... I’ve never even tried a wall before...”
can I tell how hard it would be to climb the wall without a rope?
JohnnyBlack
"No need, Anton. M'ara says, sending Shivi flying up to look into the skylights.
Not sure how the whole know-what-your-familiar thing works. She doesn't see through Shivi's eyes, but can tell what he's seeing?
Can't talk with each other just yet, but you share an empathic link...
M'ara receives the distinct impression of enemies and danger from within the glassworks, as well as revulsion. Something is very wrong there.| Lief Stoutspear |
When nobody else suggests any alternatives, Lief shrugs and comments, ”I guess I’ll give it shot. Hand me the rope and if I make it to the top I can tie it off if anyone else wants to come up.” Once the rope is slung over his shoulder, he heads for whichever part of the wall looks easiest to climb and gives it a go...
climb: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
After a moment of trying unsuccessfully to get off the ground, he moves to a different section and tries again...
climb: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
grrr... stupid RNG... never letting me use a stinking skill...
”Hmm... sorry, everyone,” he mumbles returning to the group, ”I guess climbing buildings is a lot different than climbing trees...”
The Magician, Zomeraand
"No time like the present to prepare for a potentially dangerous situation," Zomeraand says to no one in particular.
"Armis," he whispers, as he moves his hands in a circle around himelf.

After Lief Stoutspear fumbles a while Anton Ionescu effortlessly and graciously climbs to the ceiling of the glassworks.
It is becoming a recurring theme in the campaign. :D
With rope climbing is not very hard.
Any character that wants can climb.
On the first and biggest skylight, you see an exhibition room. It is empty.
Then you move to the smaller skylights, and what you see haunt your dreams for many nights.
A furnace burns along the southeast wall of this room. Marble tables sit in the chamber, used to work raw glass into usable shapes, with nearby wooden tables cluttered with various tools of the trade. The building's furnace rumbles loudly, and you can hear them even from the ceiling. The main furnace burns at the northeast end, a large chamber that utilizes alchemically treated wood that burns with a hot blue light. As the furnace's stone pipes run southwest, they reach smaller and progressively cooler furnaces used to keep glassworking projects at the proper temperature-glass shatters if it's allowed to cool too quickly.
When your characters peek inside, this room is a gruesome display of goblin boredom. The bodies of the eight murdered staff lie in various stages of dismemberment; the goblins have been burning legs and arms in the furnace with glee and pouring melted glass on the remains. In the central alcove, a man is sitting on a chair, and another is pouring melted glass on his head.
Even from the ceiling, your character thinks they can hear screaming and sizzling sounds of skin and smell the burning flesh.
Delin Chiri
The half elf wasn't the most nimble of sorts, so she sat pensively at the door waiting to see if the others could clim up and let the others in. As she finds it harder to work, she takes a crack at prying the door open. She jams her knife into the handle area of the door and prys at the gap in the jam.
M'ara
Having Shivi return, M'ara relates the news of danger and revulsion to the others.
When the rope becomes available, she climbs up with the others, looking down into the scene below. Shocked, she frowns but also nods at the power of the harrow cards to show her what comes.
speaking lowly to the others, "I will attempt to put as many as I can to sleep... but first how do these windows open?"
The Magician, Zomeraand
”Anton will most likely climb in through the skylight, then unlock the door for us,” Zomeraand says. He stands patiently by the door, as if he had knocked, and was waiting for someone to answer.
Lief Stoutspear
Frustrated, Lief waits for a moment at the bottom with Delin and Zomeraand. Then he realizes that the roof would be an excellent place to shoot at enemies from and begins climbing the rope with a sigh.
Delin Chiri
Delin frowns at the door, and regretfully takes her knife away to press it at the underside of her thumb. She prods at her finger, careful to not cut herself as she waits on M'ara, Lief, and Anton.
Given there are goblins about she keeps a lookout. She keeps Ibbit safely tucked away in her clothing though.

Lief Stoutspear
I’m sorry... I don’t know how I missed that post!
Lief quickly moves to whichever side of the skylight will give him the best shot at the goblin pouring molten glass on the seated man and kicks out the glass. Crouching down as the goblins react to the sound, he fires an arrow at the torturer.
longbow (fe): 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 2 = 10
for: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
grrrrr
The Magician, Zomeraand
(retcon accepted, and edited to account for Lief's comment.)
Zomeraand looks down into the room and makes a quick scan of the area, searching for an ideal opportunity to burn or blast a few goblins to charcoal.
Lief Stoutspear
1 person marked this as a favorite.
I believe he's allowing you to get up on to the roof for free, not down into the room... but you can hang out on the roof with me and shoot magic at the goblins while I shoot arrows.
JohnnyBlack
Ok, surprise round!
Clarifications: Surprise round, just one action.
You all are in the ceiling unless Delin Chiri prefers to sit this one out and stay outside.
The torturer pouring glass on the sitting man is a half-elf, not a goblin.
It all happens in a flash, Anton Ionescu breaks the glass while jumping into the Glassworks.
"Greetings, s@~#bags!"
Lief fires an arrow against the half-elf torturer but misses the shot.
M'ara uses her sleep spell against the most goblins she can.
Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
Three of eight goblins fall asleep.
Delin Chiri and The Magician Zomeraand can cast something if this round if they want to, or drop down into the glassworks.
FIRST ROUND
Anton Ionescu Initiative: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Tsuto Kaijitsu Initiative: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Goblin Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Heroes Go First!
By the way, the area below the skylight if covered with glass, anyone that jumps down, or moves in the area, is affected by it (like if Caltrops), including Anton.
Glass Against Anton Ionescu: 1d20 ⇒ 7
YOUR TURN
Delin Chiri
Delin is currently at the outside door listening to see if any goblins were about, or if things kicked off without her.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
M'ara
Nodding with satisfaction as some of the goblins slump over in slumber, M'ara joins the others in jumping through the broken skylight.
She begins to plummet, but with a cutting motion of her hand, M'ara descent slows to a more comfortable velocity.
Flight Hex, feather fall at will. Not sure, can she shoot her crossbow while descending in feather fall?
The Magician, Zomeraand
Looking down through the skylight, Zomeraand draws his dagger and sends it spinning and flying at the standing with infused magical power.
Hand of the Apprentice with Arcane Strike: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Lief Stoutspear
Lief frowns at his botched first shot but quickly strings another arrow and fires again while the goblin is still unprepared for the attack.

Delin Chiri
Upon hearing the carnage start Delin pulls on the door with all her limited might. She struggles ineffectually, but eventually gets her feet planted and puts her whole body into it...
Strength: 1d20 ⇒ 8
JohnnyBlack
M'ara and the Magician Zomeraand miss their attacks, while Lief Stoutspear adds another kill to his record.
Glass against Anton: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Anton takes a step and feels how a glass piece penetrates his boot and lodges into his foot!
The caltrop deals 1 point of damage, and the creature’s speed is reduced by half because its foot is wounded. This movement penalty lasts for 24 hours until the creature is successfully treated with a DC 15 Heal check, or until it receives at least 1 point of magical healing.
He manages to reach for the closest Goblin and hit it, but he doesn't kill it.
The man that was pouring molten glass on the sitting victim quickly reacts and runs away by the big south door, while screaming for the goblins.
Two goblins attack Anton, while the last starts waking up sleeping goblins.
The first goblin attacks Anton with a dogslicer.
Goblin 1 attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Goblin 1 damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
The second one threatens him with tongs covered in molten glass, a wide and cruel smile on his face.
Goblin 2 attack TOUCH: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0
Goblin 2 damage (fire): 1d4 ⇒ 2
Lucky for Anton Ionescu both miss him.
7 goblins remain, 4 of them conscious. To follow Tsuto Kaijitsu you would need to move past them, provoking Attacks of Opportunity. Only Anton Ionescu is out of the glass, but he is hurt (and half speed) already. M'ara is still "on the glass". Lief and Zomeraand are still in the ceiling.
Delin Chiri tries to force the door, but she can't.
Lief Stoutspear
Lief takes aim at the goblin trying to wake the others (unless Zomeraand has already knocked it out) and fires...
longbow (pb+fe): 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 2 = 19

The Magician Zomeraand's spell inundates the space in front of his hand, barely reaching the two goblins attacking Anton Ionescu... and Anton Ionescu himself.
Anton Ionescu's Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Goblin 1 Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4
Goblin 2 Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
All of the Goblins fall unconscious.
Zomeraand keeps delivering! What is the DC of the Spell? Does Anton makes it?
Lief Stoutspear kills another goblin.
Just one Goblin awake.
Does M'ara try to move slowly to avoid the caltrops, or risk moving normal speed?
