Fallen rubble from an earlier excavation clogs the channel, slowing the water flow and accumulating a mass of sewage on one side. A thick carpet of moss and fungus—clearly representing a wide variety of green, blue, and ochre-colored specimens—sprawls across the top of the debris and hangs from the ceiling, with several larger mounds of fungus clinging to the walls or stemming from the hole to the east. Wispy blue tendrils descend from the ceiling and almost touch the water, creating a thin, eerie curtain of plant matter.

fungus is hanging in tendrils from the ceiling, like a really spaced out bead-curtain. No need to jump; just move through at half-speed to avoid touching the tendrils. I'll assume that's what you did, but wanted to give everyone the better picture of the situation

As the group passes through the azure tendrils, some of the fungi in this "garden" begin to animate and attack!

Ah, against Red, the attack hits.

While the mushroom man obviously doesn't appreciate being stabbed by Giovanni, he appears furious about the destruction of his flowers, and attacks Peregryne.

Giovanni and Sal both attack the creature as it leaves itself vulnerable while making ranged attacks, and Sal takes out a large chunk of fungal growth!
Their next attacks miss, however.
Endir lets loose an arrow that finally drops the creature!
and Peregryne blasts it with forceful wind for good measure, to ensure it doesn't rise again.
