T'laka gives Sully another supercharge.

Botting Yis.
Yis continues to move forward and takes refuge behind a Finger.
Tofana and Sully both miss their shots on this volley.
Now that Baroleg is so close the sniper begrugingly switches targets.

Left Baddie dead
Sully 3 damage
Tofana 12 damage
Getting close to attack range, finish it! Everyone up!
Baròleg Konstantu |
Wincing from the wound, Baròleg makes for cover.
Want to make sure I under stand the map. If I move to the first 'ledge' do I have cover from the sniper? If not, I'll head back to the stones.
Tofana |
Tofana reevaluates and adjusts her stance from the feet up and resettles her rifle on target.
"Baroleg, get to cover. I am temporarily out of ammunition. Sully, how many shots do you have left? "
I plan to advance as a move and reload as a move next turn. If the ledge provides full cover, non-snipers could advance to there, then all attack at once while Sully and I provide cover in two turns or so. Once you're on the first ledge, you'll probably be exposed while climbing to the second ledge.

Three notable plateaus rise along the western edge of this long
canyon. The ground slopes up at regular intervals, making for
steep but manageable climbs to the next-highest platform.
Eventually, the highest rise begins to connect to the top of the
canyon walls, almost 120 feet above the canyon’s base. Larger
boulders and mineral outcroppings litter the plateaus, providing
areas of concealment within the areas of gradual ascent.
I take that to mean it's like walking up very steep steps, no climb check even needed. Once you get to the first edge there it is like the ruins to the east, you can use a move action to seek cover behind rocks and things. Nothing on this side is large enough for total cover however, only partial.
Kal'rin Sylth |
Kal'rin continues to run at top spead.
Moving four times movement and taking the AC penalty. I think it will be about three or four rounds before I get close enough to do anything useful. Sorry everyone.

If your rifle holds multiple rounds, you can full attack to crit fish. That might even help you break the record you just set. :-)
GM Egg |
Yeah, we seem to be discovering that this combat is not great for pbp. So...
Tofana and Sully combine to finally take down the other sniper.(close enough)
After all this time no other ambushes have shown themselves so it seems to have been only the two snipers.
You definitely have time for a rest if you want one. And now you can search the sniper bodies, as well as the security team in the Red Fingers. And don't forget Baroleg noticed a trap on their bodies.
T'laka |
T'laka says to Sully
"Good shooting! Lets get to their high ground, I'll feel safer there I think"
they will then spend the time to meet up with the others by the snipers, pushing another dart into their rifle on the way.
"A Trap Baroleg? What is the nature of this trap? This hive could work together to disarm it"
Would it be engineering to disarm the trap?
Tofana |
Tofana reloads and sweeps the clifftop looking for another threat through her scope. Then she replies to T'laka. "There seems to be no immediate threat, but I agree that higher ground is desirable."
Baròleg Konstantu |
Baròleg tells T'laka about the trap he saw on the guards bodies as me moves to search the fallen snipers.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
"Doesn't seem to be any other ambushers at least. Let's search quick and then bandage up, in case their friends come to check on them."
Spending the RP and resting then.
Kal'rin Sylth |
Slowing to a walk Kal'rin joins Baroleg at the foot of the rise, taking a moment to catch his breath. Once he has recovered from his run he moves to each of the fallen enemy bodies and searches them.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
GM Egg |
You find the following on each sarcesian:
estex suit I, survival knife, tactical Diasporan rifle with 1 battery (? charges), mk 1 serum of healing, grappler
If anyone wants to use one of those sniper rifles let me know, the batteries won't be at full charge and I'll figure up how much they have. And in case it's not clear that's two of each thing listed.
One of the snipers also has a credstick with 350 credits loaded as well as a small datapad, currently showing a holographic projection of the terrain of this area around Blackmoon. The display shows an area further east of the canyon marked with a strange insignia.
“Fayetta’s sabotage is, at best, a stopgap. Real and decisive action is required if we’re to make the bone sages’ puppets pay for what they’ve done and make them afraid to try again. Take position at the top of Redspire canyon and kill anyone who comes through and isn’t one of our own. We’ll need to stay hidden for just a while longer, then we can finish this.”
I'll just go ahead and tell you guys, since Baroleg rolled a pretty good perception near the bodies, that the security team's bodies have nothing of importance left on them.
Baròleg Konstantu |
Computers: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 open spoiler
Going through the files on the data pad, "Instructions from the snipers' leader." He looks around, "Any signs of comms, maybe we can listen in on more planning." He glances at the map and the terrain, "Thoughts on how we can ambush them? Return the favor."
Sullivan "Sully" Carmine |
Sully's eye twitches, looking at the newly hacked datapad. "Guess we should track down this Fayetta person. Any clues as to where we might find them?"

Quote:...currently showing a holographic projection of the terrain of this area around Blackmoon. The display shows an area further east of the canyon marked with a strange insignia.
Haha thank you for preemptively covering for my illiteracy. *facepalm*
Sully points to the obvious map. "We've got a trail. Let's move once everyone is recovered."
Baròleg Konstantu |
"Agreed, let's see if we can surprise them this time." Gathering up the gear, and using the comm to notify Taylem about the security team, Baròleg gets ready to move out.
Kal'rin Sylth |
"I'm ready to go, these snipers seem to have been put here to delay us. So let's not let whomever is behind all this get what they want."
Kal'rin holsters his pistol and prepare to move off when everyone is ready.
T'laka |
T'laka needs a second to recover, not from getting shot but from the workout moving through the canyon.
"I'm ... fine ... just need .. a second"
After some ragged breaths, they're ready to continue.
"Let's go see this Fayetta and tell them what we think about getting shot at"
GM Egg |
No problem Sully.
There are no comm units to be found on the snipers.
The area indicated by the holomap is about 1-1/2 mile away. While talking with Taylehm she will mention that the place is called The Roost and it is an area of much steeper terrain. The party finds this out first hand as it is quite the tricky area to navigate. The Roost is not only a steep climb but covered in loose rocks.
Everyone please make an Athletics check to navigate the climb, unless you have some way to burrow or fly. Also, please tell me what you are doing as you travel to the bad guys and make perception checks.
Tofana |
Will rest to regain SP in the canyon.
On the trail Tofana marches silently, ramrod straight and erect. Her legs seem to move independently of the rest of her body. Even with her arms in motion when the climbing starts her torso doesn't shift and stretch with the movement of her limbs.
Her head meanwhile continually sweeps levelly from left to right, then in a high arc from right to left.

Sully concentrates on climbing, going into tunnel vision and ignoring his surroundings.
Kal'rin Sylth |
Kal'rin moves off with his fellow Starfinders quietly focusing on keeping up with the rest of the group. The run down the canyon in heavy armour having tired him more than he let on. He does his best to keep an eye on the surroundings but as the terrain grows steeper he is distracted by the effort of clambering up, down and over the rough ground.
Athletics: 1d20 ⇒ 5

If no one objects, then Yis would like the sniper rifle
Athletics: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Yis, who had spoke little to many members of the party, scrambled gainfully over the uneven terrain. The Ysoki wasn't unusued to being shot it, but somehow it felt a little early in the day to have already been targeted. It was pretty lucky that Yis had a few others snipers could concentrate on first though.
T'laka |
T'laka huffs and puffs alongside the others during the climb. Even telepathy seems like too much effort for them, unaccustomed as they obviously are to this level of physical effort.
Athletics: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Their world recedes to the next step, and the one after that, and any sign more subtle than a gun going off would escape their notice
GM Egg |
I'll give Baro a little bit longer. While we wait, and if you could do this when you post Baroleg, please go to slide 1 and put yourselves in marching order. Or if anyone wants to branch out away from the group let me know.
Baròleg Konstantu |
Sorry all, thanks for the patience! I'm good with the order.
Athletics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Baròleg rouses himself, getting a little lost in planning. As the team winds through the rough terrain he draws his Thunderstrike pistol and makes sure it's in working order.
"We should have some degree of surprise, we need to take advantage while we can." He attempts to use stealth as they get near to the camp.

As the group makes their climb Kal'rin loses his footing for a bit and falls backwards into a large rock.
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Shortly after that Baroleg slips and falls onto his face.
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
When Baroleg falls he knocks loose a few rocks that tumble back towards the people behind. Everyone is able to dodge except T'laka who takes a few small boulders to the chest.
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
As the party continues the pair leading the way hear a 'click'. Then, Baroleg, Kal'rin, Sully and Tofana are electrocuted by a mine that slipped the party's notice.
Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11 DC 13 Reflex save for half damage.
Not long after you pass the mine a large cave mouth comes into view. Once you enter it becomes clear that there is a fairly large complex built underneath The Roost. After walking around for a bit you all notice that the place has clearly been abandoned recently as several larger items such as a generator and mobile fortifications were expertly moved out of the cavern.
Also, everyone please make a 2nd perception check besides trying to reveal those spoilers.

"If they didn't know before, they do now. There's sensors scattered all around, and a holographic projector, too."
Tofana sweeps her arm to point from one device to the next. Then she cautiously approaches the projector. She'll restrain anyone who rushes toward it. It's curiously out of place, and therefore likely a trap.

Sully scales the mountain relatively easily, shaking off some concussive force from the detonating explosive. Once he reaches the top, he takes a moment to catch his breath, looking back to check on his ascending allies. "Looks like they packed up shop. Let's look around and see what we can find."
Spending a Resolve to regain stamina once we get to our destination.
GM Egg |
Still need a couple Reflex saves but some things are gonna happen now so you guys can add them as we go. And Tofana made the 2nd perception check so you guys are good there.
While taking stock of the place Tofana finds some left-behing sarcesian artwork. Most of these are odd, laser-cut rock carved to resemble sites of interest in the Diaspora and idyllic mock-ups of the destroyed world Damiar. And have a value of 800 credits.
As soon as Tofana walks over to the projector it switches on.
With a burst of quick clicks and green light, a projection coalesces into the form of a large but lithe humanoid with an elongated neck, pointed ears, and dark eyes. The figure’s head moves around as though appraising before speaking in strangely accented Common. “Greetings. I am Fayetta. I am sure you have many questions, and I would be glad to answer them.”
Baròleg Konstantu |
Thanks Egg, the post was hiding until after I submitted. Sneaky posts...
Baròleg moves to see the image better, "That would be an accurate assessment, Fayetta." He'll take a moment to introduce himself, and follow with, "I suppose the first question is, why should we trust any of your responses?"
GM Egg |
"Because I am trying to help you. I swear on the sacred remains of the Diaspora that I had nothing to do with attacking your camp. My former second-in-command, Mengian, saw your excavation as a threat and ordered an attack on the new dig site behind my back. Once I confronted him about it, he took what few radicals he could from our group and left. The snipers in the canyon were among those he converted to his irrational cause.”
Kal'rin Sylth |
Reflex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Between falling and taking the brunt of the mine Kal'rin is looking tired and a little wounded. Once the party reaches the site he finds a place out of the way to rest.
Am I able to take a ten minute rest to recover stamina?
GM Egg |
You can take a rest, yes. Looking through the complex actually takes a while so if you want to spend 10 minutes resting instead of searching that's cool.
Tofana |
"How many allies did this Mengian have? Where have they gone? And where are you?"
GM Egg |
"How many allies did this Mengian have? Where have they gone? And where are you?"
"I don't know an exact number, but not many. Mengian has called on those Wings of Damiar faithful to his cause to attack the site of your latest dig. That is the place where he executed those first members of your organization, and where you were exploring earlier today. I know only a small number of our group intend to join him, but they could still cause much harm unless you stop them,” she doesn't acknowledge the question of where she is.
"Why attack at all? What are you doing in this foul place?"
Our people have suffered uncounted atrocities at the hands of the Eoxians, and the ruin of their world is but a minor satisfaction for the horror they inflicted on us. We know they will eventually break this system’s Pact, and we shall warn others when that dread day comes.
"Mengian sees the Starfinders as willing accomplices to the bone sages’ depredations. I know that you are merely here to carry out your organization's typical activities."
T'laka |
T'laka listens intently.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
They hate speaking out loud, but must do so in this case. In a rattling, scraping voice they they
"Where are these Wings of Daimiar now? What are their plans?"
Kal'rin Sylth |
Kal'rin finds a spot to sit down to rest and checks over his armour to ensure it survived his fall.
I'm not sure if he can hear or participate in the conversation. I'm spending the resolve to restore stamina.
