"Our first assignment was to scrub the latrines. After two hours Captain Othis walked in with muddy shoes and reprimanded us. Next we did the obstacle course. Kala noticed that the first couple of feet of the log were greased and told everyone. The Captain gave a sour look at Dell Darkblade at that. The climbing wall had a trapped section that would've fallen away if anyone put weight on it. I don't know if that's normal, but she scowled at Dell after a couple of us noticed and climbed around it. Overall, she seemed pleased when we failed and angry when we succeeded.
The next day we had a sparring match. No potions, no magic, no spells, and no lethal attacks were the rules. We were fighting Dell Darkblade, Nively, Leord, and Peol. Nively poisoned Kala with his blade, and grinned when he saw how she was affected by it. The medic afterwards said it was ground Dusk Agate. Dell overheard the conversation and said that Nively didn't add the poison. He did it himself, for his own reasons that he wouldn't tell us. When we asked, he didn't seem to like when we mentioned asking the Captain about it. He said that it wasn't "our" choice, though he didn't say who he meant by "our". And he said that the Pathfinders aren't welcome here, with added emphasis. He said the Captain is tough, but she seems especially motivated to make sure we don't succeed, and his concern about talking to the Captain was for our safety, not his.
The next day we received our first assignment: security detail at and event at the Glitterfang Halls. The Captain told us about a notorious cheater known as Inysha, a master of disguise who’s been kicked out of other casinos in the past. We were to prevent this individual from entering the casino or playing any games. She provided this sketch, specifically stating that it was a sketch of Inysha." At this point, Kala produces the sketch of General Faiza and sets it on the desk before her, making sure to place it out of Captain Othis's reach. She continues: "We spotted you when you entered and were tailing you, but Raynard here saw something fishy and began tailing a woman who it turns out was Inysha. When cornered, she claimed she can't pay what we ask. None of us know anything about payment or any prior relationship between her and the Ungrounded. When we returned, we asked Captain Othis why she gave us the sketch of you and told us it was someone else. Her response was to threaten demerits for questioning our superior.
Our last assignment was to provide security for Zuhair Issawa's shipment of gems. Everything was routine, except for an ambush which we handled easily. Nef, the team leader, mentioned that while elemental gangs are fairly common outside the Vault, they normally work further afield and are too cautious to attack so openly. The elementals had this symbol inlaid on them like a tattoo." Here she pauses and indicates that Avi should show is symbol sketch to the General.
