Is Jasariel joining us for this session?
Gruvok has two games left at Level 4, after this one, but I'm thinking since Okh is also a Sorcerer, I could start bringing a frontliner if Jasariel isn't available.
I will soon have a Level 2 Barbarian, and I have a newly minted Champion. Neither are really good at any skills, though.

I'm assuming we got the full 4xp for that, so Farryn will level up to 4 and then post his stuff. Hopefully it'll be today, but I may not quite get it done.
He's really close to being able to afford something, did he get the full 38g reward for being level 3?

Oh! And. I think I've been running Power Attack incorrectly this whole time. I've been combining Power Attack and Striking to roll 4d10. A recent thread in the Rules Forum suggested that I can't do that until Level 10, and that for right now, it should just be 3d10.
The difference boils down to whether you interpret "dice" as a collective unit or singular. I've thought this whole time that 2d10 was my weapon's "dice" because of Striking. The other interpretation is that a weapon only ever has 1 dice, and everything else stacks up from there.
I'm not 100% sure which one it is, and I continue to ask people who use Power Attack to see what they think, but at this point it seems most people run it as 3dX until Level 10, so I'll start doing it that way as well.
...which also means I won't be doing it as often. Probably only against hard-to-hit bosses and constructs with hardness.

Anyone have thoughts about the new changes coming down the paizo pipe for pfs2? I'm intrigued about the removal and transfer of fame to other stuff and how boons working will be changed, but without further detail I can't make an opinion yet.
Just a heads up, there is a lot more info in that post than initially visible. You have to click to open each tab.

![]() |

Well you are quicker than me. Yes, i saw the new changes. Let's see how the entire changes will work together. That could even change again until it will be in force.

![]() |

Thanks for pointing out that post. Seems like quite positive changes, if somewhat clumsily implemented. Hard to say for sure without seeing the new guide though.

![]() |

Personally, I hate change, but I appreciate that is an issue at my end ;-)
I'll have adjusted to the idea by some time in late 2021 (when the new system is properly in place)...
...probably.
For the moment, the only PC concepts that generate a frisson of excitement for me are not exactly healthy, like a pain-obsessed Paladin of Vildeis, a child-like Gnomish Necromacer with a porcelain-doll familiar, and a Barbarian modeled on Goblin Slayer (all of which I have theory-crafted to level 20)... so I think I need to wait until I am in a better mood.
That said, I still enjoy the 2e system (the complexity of which I view as a step down from PF1, and a step up from D&D 5e), even if it is not quite as crunchy yet as I would like :-P

In other news, chronicle sheets for the last one have now been PM'ed out!

I plan to cut back on my Society play. I agree with Jasariel that I see the potential for a lot of improvements, but Paizo's track record of implementing change leaves a lot to be desired. I pour my soul into every character's mold and it really stresses me out when forces outside of my control impact them.
Plus, have you seen the Playtest Forum for Magus/Summoner? The online community is wading into such a deep level of 'Grar' that I think I need to step back from the Forums for my own mental health. I already post comparatively infrequently in the Rules Forums, and the Society Forums don't move as much as they used to anymore.
After my GameDay sessions wrap up, I'll just have:
• This group
• GMing PFS2 1/week over Discord
• Switching between GMing/playing Starfinder APs with my home group.
If I could find a group like this for SFS that would be perfect, too, but Luke_Parry seems to be truly unique in his ability to GM high quality PbPs in a timely manner <3

![]() |

I wholeheartedly feel the same about our GM, Nefreet. This has been a wonderful group to enjoy.
I think the issue with Paizo is also one of their advantages. A very small staff causes major issues getting changes/updates implemented on time and smoothly, but a small staff also allows for a really strong and unique look at how to create a good game. No large committees and focus groups and oversight, just creativity. Some fails here and there, but mostly successes.
I also try to avoid most forum chatter. Even seeing a couple posts in response to Tyranius link to the blog made my BP rise. Such utter vitriol at every possible change is hard to read.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Well I think we're all glad to have found our GM. I'm very pleased to play in this group too. Thank you everybody.

![]() |

Anyone have thoughts or links to legit answers about the new rules for pathfinder schools and the free item(s) you get with it?
For Farryn it doesn't seem super complicated. He has a field commission and that got a nice buff. He will now get a free Lore at lvl 1 and a free feat at lvl 5. Everything else seems the same.
But it will matter to Bair and any future low-level PC I build for this group. Is it one item from the list? One plus one item like the old system when you had to spend points and could spend three in one spot? Or is it ALL the items from your list as some crazy people seem to be arguing.

![]() |

On this page (http://www.organizedplayfoundation.org/encyclopedia/pfs2edplayer-basics/#p athfinder-training) it's not said that a field commissioned gets a Lore at lvl 1 and a free feat at lvl 5.
Where are the changes? I haven't seen them.

![]() |

2nd Edition Guide has the new stuff.
Interesting, apparently Farryn used to be able to get one free item. I must have missed that sneaky update cause I'm pretty sure it wasn't in there when I built the character.

![]() |

Thank you very much. I didn't noticed the news. There are something new for sure but for the field commissioned: "Each Pathfinder Training (except Field Commission) also grants a bonus consumable at the beginning of each mission." Or there is still something I missed?

![]() |

It seems that most players now only get one consumable at the start instead of one at the highest level and one at 1/2 the level.
That's how I interpret all that. Is that correct?

![]() |

It is written "(except Field Commission)". So I think the Field commission doesn't get any consumable as it was the case until now.

![]() |

Hello all, I have some scheduled time off starting tomorrow (kicking into gear tonight with prep) to help my wife out as we are expecting our next child. If things go as roughly planned, I'll be back after this weekend to continue gaming.
Go ahead and bot my PC. They should have updated instructions in their profile. I may get small moments in the next few days to post, so don't be surprised if quick comments or actions pop in randomly.
Farryn will burn the last use of his boon for a PFS Lore check if the encounter is still going on. After that Medicine is his best option.

![]() |

The next scenario is Tier 1-4. I could bring Gruvok again, but I think that leaves us once again with two Sorcerers and no dedicated frontliner, right?
I could start bringing a Level 2 Champion, if that would be preferable.
I also have a Level 2 Archer if someone else has a frontline option.

![]() |

As Dranald will be lvl 5 he will bring an archer lvl 2.
But before to play the next one we still have a little problem to solve. And I don't know how to solve it at the moment.

![]() |

Perhaps you should adopt a hit and run strategy.

![]() |

Well this strategy doesn't work neither. How can we do?
