placed the devil for you.

With the caster woman still blinded, and floating up near the ceiling, Milo finally has a clear area where he won't be hitting the mob below.

"Twist can't drum herself up there." He growls, his small fists clenched in anger.

Small bits of flame start to flicker around his hands, as he drops into a low arcane chant, the words in draconic, culminating in a glowing bead of fire racing upwards, towards the ceiling in the middle of the senate hall. It explodes in a massive conflagration... bits of charred banners and soot drifting down on the panicking crowds in its wake.

Empowered Fireball, up above the crowd... but not too far above, if only to motivate them to get the hell out faster. Will tag her on the upper edge.

The evil woman falls from the ceiling with a shrill scream before nothing only an ashen corpse thuds on the ground below. The devil is helpless against Eorsten's holy weapon slicing it into ribbons of meat.

A battered and bruised Lady Glorianna Morilla approaches you all. "Praise whichever god it was that sent you on time. It was a terrible sight to behold. Grand Prince Stavian publicly executed the man who was to be the recipient of the exaltation. A man from Breezy Creek Hamlet by the name of Kalbio. He then ordered the death of all those in attendance. The Ulfen Guard, loyal Stavian soldiers, and other less obvious forces took part in the slaughter, and it was only thanks to your timely arrival that the affair didn’t turn into a complete massacre."

"While the you have averted utter disaster, one particular event from the senate slaughter has dire ramifications for Taldor as a whole: a Lion Blade agent within the crowd managed to leap atop the presentation platform shortly after Kalbio’s death and stabbed the Grand Prince through the heart. A magical contingency whisked the grand prince away, but it was clear that the wound was fatal."

"The matter of succession is now widely contested, and while I know that Taldor’s best future lies in the hands of Princess Eutropia, Stavian declared High Strategos Maxillar Pythareus as his heir apparent prior to the ceremony. Civil war is imminent, and I intend to do everything I can do to contain the potentially catastrophic conflict."

Another senator approaches. "Earl Calhadion Vernisant must have been in on this all along as well, for he has taken mount and is now threatening anyone who tries to exit the building. If this immediate crises is to pass, then someone must slay the Earl."

Morrighan will cast good hope on everyone and vanish on herself as they approach the fracas. In the last round before we attack she'll start her Raging Song.

Good Hope:
This spell instills powerful hope in the subjects. Each affected creature gains a +2 morale bonus on saving throws, attack rolls, ability checks, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls.

Reminder: Raging Song Benefits

Outflank:

Whenever you and an ally who also has this feat are flanking the same creature, your flanking bonus on attack rolls increases to +4. In addition, whenever you score a critical hit against the flanked creature, it provokes an attack of opportunity from your ally.

Paired Opportunists:

Whenever you are adjacent to an ally who also has this feat, you receive a +4 circumstance bonus on attacks of opportunity against creatures that you both threaten. Enemies that provoke attacks of opportunity from your ally also provoke attacks of opportunity from you so long as you threaten them (even if the situation or an ability would normally deny you the attack of opportunity). This does not allow you to take more than one attack of opportunity against a creature for a given action.

Raging Song:

+2 morale bonus to Strength and +4 morale bonus to Constitution and a +2 morale bonus on Will saving throws, but also take a –1 penalty to AC.

"You don't deserve your position!" Giovanni WALKS across the battlefield, getting right up in the Earl's (and his lion's) face. Once there, his chain flashes out, attempting to grab the Earl and pull him form the saddle.

Yep, with Haste his move is 60' per action at a walk. If the ghosts have reach, then depending on specific location, he might provoke an AoO from Blue. But it "hasn't acted yet", so . . ..

Quick Greater Reposition w/ Primary Chain, Haste, Good Hope: 1d20 + 32 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 32 + 1 + 2 = 55

WOW! Uhhh . . ..

Giovanni's chain easily pulls the Earl from his seat, with Giovanni turning to his right as he moves the former Earl to a more submissive location.

CMD moves him clockwise off the lion. 5 above CMD moves him diagonally immediately to Giovanni's "right". 10 above CMD moves him directly opposite the lion. 20 above CMD moves him 1 square outside of my reach, closer to the party. (It takes 2 increments since it is the second diagonal, right?) As reposition is NOT TRIP, he gets to be standing at the end of this.

"Punish the criminal, please."

I'm betting the lion and the ghosts are about to eat me for lunch. That's okay, I think I probably just prevented a really serious injury to somebody. I'm good with that trade. Giovanni's job is to protect everybody else, after all.

The fireball washes over most of the opposition the Pathfinders face here, and when it clears it is seen that the red ghost is obliterated, and the Earl is on his last limbs. The lion seems to have resisted only some of the fireball damage due to its thick hide.

The lion and the Earl are both enraged and furious. The lion unleashes its full assault upon Giovanni, clawing and biting furiously. The Earl shifts up to flank with the lion, as he then shouts out a cry that seems to improve the skill of himself, his mount, and the babbling senator ghost.

Great luck appears to be on Giovanni's side, as even as he is flanked and being assaulted by both the Earl and his lion, they cannot land a single blow against him!

Trip w/ Primary Chain, Haste, Good Hope: 1d20 + 32 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 32 + 1 + 2 = 48

I'll assume that's good enough. It would trip me! Which provokes, but I'm the only one in reach.

Then he turns his attention to the mount, which he simply pummels.

Piercing w/ Good Hope, Raging Song: 2d4 + 9 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3, 4) + 9 + 2 + 1 = 19

Well, a natural 1 always misses, but I bet the 39s are good enough. So much less damage than my companions can do! But, my specialization has really shined, here. Nice retirement table.

Once he has finished with this set of attacks, Giovanni will adjust South, taking a 5' step. On my phone, so I can't move me.

Edit: I see Eramos posted while I was typing on my phone. If the Earl was already down before I go, I'll just pummel the mount. If the Earl was still up, then the trip will provoke from Eramos, too.

Primary Chain w/ Haste, Good Hope, Alternate First Attack: 1d20 + 24 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 24 + 1 + 2 = 45
Piercing w/ Good Hope, Raging Song: 2d4 + 9 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2, 4) + 9 + 2 + 1 = 18

Eramos comes in to secure the kill, as his blade slices deeply though the earl's shoulder and splitting him down through his chest. His arm that is disconnected from his head dropping its weapon, and his other arm reaching towards the slice.

"For... S..ta." He grows still.

The force fired from Milo is more than enough; the Allip can't withstand the attack and collapses into itself. It screams in frustration and agony.

All that remains is the lion.

Eramos swings his weapon with such ferocity that the lion can only react by letting loose a failing roar. The lion collapses to the ground.

With the Lion Blades properly convinced of Stavian’s reckless schemes and Calhadion Vernisant defeated, the adventure is complete. Lady Glorianna Morilla meets with you all at Muesello’s lodge to properly relay her gratitude for your actions, and praise your ability.

"Not only were you able to rescue many lives, but you did so while maintaining some semblance of order within Taldor. The next few months will be fraught, for the day’s events have brought Taldor dangerously close to civil war as numerous aristocrats proclaim their right to the crown."

"However, with your help swaying the Lion Blades, I believe believes that Princess Eutropia can triumph and lead Taldor into a new and golden age."

Wish to continue that plot thread? Consider the War of the Crown Adventure Path!

"You should all be wary, however, for such an important victory
might also serve as a beacon for those seeking to defame the Pathfinder Society. Your actions, as well as those other recent endeavors by the Sovreign Court, prove that seasoned Pathfinders working together can be a force for great political change. I believe that it would be in the Society’s best interests to take a reprieve from the Taldan conflict and that more notable Pathfinders should recuse themselves from actively helping Eutropia—at least, for a while."

"There is one last matter. The tragic and unfortunate death of the commoner, Kalbio. Before you arrived, he was killed during his exaltation to rise to baronship by Stavian. Members of the Sovereign Court managed to retrieve Kalbio’s body from the senate floor, but there is uncertainty as to what to do."

"Given that none of the nobles are willing to put resources into a funeral or a means of resurrection, it seems that there are to be no new inductees into the echelons of Taldan nobility this year."

Muesello adds in something in regards to Kalbio. "His parents accepted considerable debt in order to help their son prepare for this honor. It will only be a matter of time before news of his death reaches them. Breezy Creek is likely the first of many places to have casualties in the coming months. What would you think is the best thing to do to honor Kalbio of Breezy Creek?"

A few options here; you can help with a burial service, a raise dead (Using Prestige or gold if you wish), help pay off his parents debt of 1000gp, or nothing at all. What would you like to do?

Four volunteers to pay the prestige cost is 4pp per person, unless Milo also chips in in which case 3pp for 1 person and 2pp for everyone else. Will proceed with the resurrection and adjust as needed if another 24 hours pass with/without answer.

How that will affect your adventure is for you to decide, heroes.

Adventure Complete!

Primary Success
The PCs’ primary goal in this scenario is to put an end to Earl Calhadion Vernisant. So long as the PCs defeat the earl in combat at the end of the scenario, each PC earns 1 Prestige Point. In addition, each PC earns the Glorymane Resplendent boon.

Secondary Success
To fulfill their secondary goals, the PCs must succeed at two of the following four conditions. Doing so earns each PC 1 additional Prestige Point.
• Successfully negotiate with Chamberlain Eckhart to avoid fighting the constructs. Complete!
• Retrieve the documents from Calhadion Vernisant’s villa without activating the fail-safe. Complete!
• Avoid using an area of effect spell that damages the crowd while battling against Karina Deckland. Complete!
• Fulfill the conditions to earn the Always Welcome in Breezy Creek boon. Complete!

Faction Notes
This scenario is a capstone for much of the Sovereign Court faction’s activity in Taldor. By defeating Earl Calhadion Vernisant and proving themselves competent while doing so, the PCs showcase the validity of Lady Gloriana Morilla’s organization on a world stage. If the party fulfills the primary and secondary success conditions, Sovereign Court faction PCs each earn the Political Aspirations boon.

Boon; Always Welcome in Breezy Creek (Legacy):

Regardless of what befalls you in future adventures, you’re always welcome in the Taldan hamlet of Breezy Creek. Kalbio and his parents save a spot for you at every major observed Taldan holiday, and you can visit them without question. If you ever look to settle down and stop being a Pathfinder field agent, you can permanently settle on a plot of land adjacent to Kalbio’s family farm.

Glorymane Resplendent:

If you have the intelligent shield Glorymane on a Chronicle sheet belonging to any character, that character can upgrade the shield by spending 15,000 gp. This upgrade increases the shield’s enhancement bonus from +2 to +4. In addition, Glorymane gains a +4 bonus on attack rolls with its bite attacks, and the damage dealt increases to 2d10.

Political Aspirations (Sovereign Court Boon):

Following Grand Prince Stavian III’s murderous scheme, the Taldan senate is fragmented and in need of new leaders more than ever before. You can either maneuver yourself to become one of Taldor’s 222 senators or establish yourself as a clandestine agent who has the ear of Taldor’s elite. Choose one of the two boons below and cross the other off your Chronicle sheet.

Power Broker: Whether it’s due to your heroic deeds or your cunningly masterminded plans, you command the respect of many powerful people. When playing an adventure, you can fulfill and check up to two boxes on your Sovereign Court Faction Journal Card. Once per adventure you can attempt a Knowledge (nobility) check untrained with a bonus equal to 5 plus the number of Sovereign Court Faction Journal Card goals you have completed. Furthermore, once per adventure before attempting an Intelligence-, Wisdom-, or Charisma-based skill check, you can choose to use your Knowledge (nobility) bonus in place of your bonus in that skill; you are considered trained in that skill for this heck.

3 Boxes/3 Boxes Senatorial Candidate: You can select this boon only if you have another boon or vanity that grants you a noble title in Taldor. You can spend your Downtime and 2 Prestige Points in order to check one of the first three boxes that precede this boon, representing your campaigning and maneuvering to gain political support. When you check the third box, you become a hereditary senator of Taldor. You immediately gain 4 Fame, though this cannot increase your Fame total higher than twice your XP. In addition, you can check one or more of the second three boxes when expending Prestige Points to reduce the cost of any purchase by 4 Prestige Points for each box checked (minimum 0).

Chronicles will be coming out shortly.

Milo doesn't care too much if the peasant gets resurrected or not. He's no bleeding heart. People die all the time. Its just something that happens.

He's not about to throw money at it, for sure, but if pressed, he could call in a marker or two to help out. (Can put in a couple prestige, sure) Though he views it as a waste of time... once a noble, they all become as bad as the rest.
