Emilianna channels again.

Channel: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Draegoth lands another blow and it looks like Robella is barely standing. However, she clearly has no intention of giving up, because she gnashes out at Draegoth with her inhuman jaws and slashes him with her claws (7 damage). She has to catch her balance after the second claw; it seems like this last attack took just about everything she had.

Torgmund takes the handy haversack and begins stuffing the items inside of it. He hands the bracers to Draegoth. "Take these, love. They're most useful to you, I'd say."

He tosses a peridot to Yggni, who greedily begins munching on it, moaning with pleasure like someone savoring a sweet roll.

Draegoth watches the procession with an odd expression. "Hold on," he says, taking the Locked Box key and the chalice of Erastil. "The cleric who was murdered. Wasn't she a priest of Erastil? Perhaps this is why they killed her. I'd like to return it to the church or shrine here in town."

Torg gives him a look like his hands just turned into snakes. "Are you mad?? That thing is worth three hundred gold!"

Dray says nothing in return, but simply stares at Torgmund. He scowls in return for several seconds, but finally throws his hands up in defeat. "Unbelievable. Fine." He shoves the chalice at Draegoth, who kisses the grumbling tiefling on the forehead.

"We'll split up the money once we've finished clearing this place. We have at least one door we haven't opened, yet."

Draegoth nods. "Mm. And we still have to find the dwarves their possessions."

He glances through the crates in the prior room, looking for anything that might belong to the brothers.

Did they give us a brief description of their stuff, I hope?

Oh, and also, Dray is no longer raging and is now at 6hp :O

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle 1

CLW: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 + 1 = 10
CLW: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 + 1 = 9

Dayum.

You see the brothers' names on several of the crates, along with some names and addresses for locals. You are sure that the sheriff could get these things to their rightful owners (if that's what you decide to do with them).

There is one door down here you haven't opened yet. There's also the warehouse directly upstairs but I'll just go ahead and tell you that all the good stuff was down here. Just mooks to kill up there; no treasure.

Draegoth nods gratefully to Emilianna, then drags Robella to another open cell and throws her in unceremoniously, locking the cage behind her. He nods to the dwarves. "We found your things. They're down the hall here. We have one more room to check, then it should be safe."

He leads the way to the final door and looks it over.

Torg and Yig follow the monk to the final door, and the shaitan also checks it over.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

The shaitan crosses his arms, scowls at Torg, and says, "You open it this time."

The summoner snorts and opens the door.

Behind the screen:

A desk sits to the south, covered in alchemical equipment and supplies. A cot with an extra padded mattress rests against the far wall, a small chest at its foot.

A logbook sits on the table among the pieces of laboratory equipment. The contents list the members of the guild through the use of nicknames, detailing criminal specialties and assignments. It is unhelpful for disclosing the true names of the guild members, but does indicate how organized they were.

Chest: Disable Device DC15 or Strength DC18:

Inside you find an unusual and intricately made construct. You immediately suspect this might be the Gearwrights' property, and they verify as much. The construct is called a clockwork spy and it obeys anyone who winds it up. Unfortunately, it is currently broken.

The brothers explain that this is the item they had planned to give you as a reward for freeing them and locating their things. They can fix it for you if you provide the gold (500gp in materials). However, they do show you the secret compartment that Borvius failed to open. Inside, you find:

- Traveler's any-tool
- Scroll of locate object
- Scroll of cure serious wounds

Draegoth finishes divvying up the loot. (260gp each to Torg, Dray, and Em, plus one peridot.)

Dray gives his peridot to Yggni as well, which the shaitan happily pockets as a meal for later.

After a quick discussion, Dray and Torg each give the brothers half their share of the loot (520gp) to fix the clockwork creature. Dray is particularly giddy to have a "pet."

Torg leads the way back to the sheriff, Yggni carrying the skulk and Dray and Torg carrying Robella, both of them still unconscious. When they reach the outside again, Torg says, "Keep your eyes peeled. We never checked the warehouse. Don't want to get jumped on our way back to Feldane."

Draegoth, Torgmund, Yggni, and Emilianna, and the dwarfs walk the mile or so back to the constabulary, Robella and the skulk in tow. Your strange group gets plenty of looks but no one dares say anything. Upon arriving, you see Feldane sitting at her desk, chewing on a pencil, rapping her fingers on her desk. At this point, you've far surpassed her own police force's investigative abilities, and all her eggs are in your basket.

She jumps to her feet when you arrive, eyes wide at the sight of your prisoners. You detail what you found at the warehouse, show her the mountain of damning evidence against the Monchellos, and explain that there is even more to be found at the scene. She throws Robella and the skulk in a cell, gathers a handful of deputies, and returns with you to the warehouse.

Together, you arrest the few remaining mooks and seize all the evidence and stolen goods. Feldane assures you that any stolen goods will be returned to their rightful owners, and that if you wait around town for a few days, she is positive that you will receive a reward for your efforts.

She thanks you profusely for your exemplary work and tells you that she will ensure your room and board is covered for the next few days. The last thing she says to you as you leave the warehouse is, "Say, you boys want a job?"

----------

You spend the next few days enjoying free meals and drinks at the inn. You get to know Emilianna much better and even help her work on her Common. The dwarfs spend a couple of days fixing the clockwork spy and showing you how it works. They are quite impressed at your thorough dismantling of the thieves' guild. The last thing they say to you as they are preparing to continue their travels is, "Say, you boys want a job?"

----------

Almara Delisen is released immediately upon discovering the true culprit, with the promise of a full public apology to help exonerate the carnival in the eyes of the townsfolk. The carnival is reopened and does so well over the next few days that Delisen decides to stay for an extra week. Nothing like a controversy to sell tickets. There even seems to be less animosity between Chelaxians and Varisians, for now.

Delisen invites you to a lavish feast with all the carnival folk to thank you for all that you have done to protect the carnival's secrets and clear its name. She presents you with 1000 gold pieces as thanks. She talks about how they could use the additional security and Torgmund and Yggni could even be featured in their freak show if they wanted! "Say, you boys want a job?"

----------

Four days after you captured Robella, you receive a summons from Feldane. She is pleased to tell you that the owners of the stolen goods have pooled their resources together to provide you with a reward of 800 gold pieces. She reiterates that you always have a bed and a job in Ilsurian if you want it.

As you say your goodbyes and turn to leave, she says, "Oh, one more thing. Congratulations on being level 3!"
