Nyyms face turned a shade of worry. As much as he wanted to make a funny reply to Kyt. Now was not the time. Nyym worry was not only for what Tsadoc may be facing. But also who or what else heard the sound as well.

The sound came from over near the shelter we saved for us all. And in his defence.. just because they are converted does not mean they are any less skilled. They may even be more skilled. Regardless he needs our help and fast.

Nyym points them in the appropriate direction before heading off himself.

Try not to be seen by anything else as you cross over towards the safe house.

With that last bit said. Nyym preformed his vanish trip and was gone.

Yes, we are trying to avoid detection. But the time taken to get to our companion could make the difference in saving his life or losing it. Better to abandon the pretense of stealth and guarantee his safe return to us than to maintain it and cost him his life. The samurai then smiles as she quickly adds, Besides, it's more fun this way.

And with that, Aiko surges forward into a sprint after the others, drawing her daisho as she moves.

Because Nyym and Liesel-Marie were nice enough to point it out in their respective posts, let's see if anything else in the area picked up on the sound of the thunderstone:

Green Man Perception check to notice thunderstone: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28

So, it would seem that the sentries and the green man heard the thunderstone shatter. I've rolled initiative to take this into account. The new order is as follows:

Cybernetic Servants
Alerted by the sound of the thunderstone, the mechanical sentries begin to transform, curling into a disk-shape to roll out and investigate. It doesn't take the two long to spot a threat, one that has been a problem for their master.
Move Action: 30 foot move

Trelgath and Kyt see the arriving agglomerated constructs. Mechanical servants incoming! calls out the weapon master in Common as each unfold back into their tri-legged humanoid forms. One continues moving to directly engage with Trelgath while the other hangs back to aim a shoulder-mounted device at the weapon master.
Standard Action - Cybernetic Servant 1: melee with Trelgath
Standard Action - Cybernetic Servant 2: ranged attack at Trelgath

Cybernetic Servant 1 melee attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Cybernetic Servant 1 melee damage: 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Cybernetic Servant 2 ranged attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10; -2 due to range penalty

The weapon master's instincts take over as he brings his left forearm up to intercept the first servant's metal limb while using his right hand to snatch the fired projectile of the second, a net, out of the air, which is dropped at his feet with a flourish.

Clan Nikumu Converted Shadow Warriors
Trio of converted resume their engagement with Tsadok, with the one on the left approaching the half-orc to also perform a one-handed swing of its sword, bringing the blade over the converted Nikumu's right shoulder to slash diagonally at Tsadok's left arm.
No Action: 5-foot step
Standard Action: melee attack

Converted Shadow Warrior 1 attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
tsurugi damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Tsadok whirls to face his attacker, bringing Sable Moon up to meet the incoming sword and catch it in a bind.

The one farthest from the melee, perhaps sensing an opportunity, moves up quickly to attack with its own blade on the half-orc's now exposed flank.
Move Action: 10-foot step
Standard Action: melee attack

Converted Shadow Warrior 2 attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18; +2 due to flank
tsurugi damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

The converted Nikumu swings the tsurugi around behind it, then up and over in an arc to slash at the half-orc's head. Tsadok narrowly manages to block the weapon in an extraordinary display of flexibility by shifting his weight and extending a leg to catch the sword with sole of his boot.

The third of the trio, the one that was sent down the stairs by Tsadok, takes a moment to regain its bearings. From where it stood, the Nikumu notes the imminent arrival of new adversaries from the east, possible companions to the meat his teammates now engaged. A quick calculation informed the converted that it will be in their best interest to mitigate the threat of approaching attackers.

And it will start with the flying one.

The Nikumu draws a hand crossbow from the holster where it had been resting, the tiny arms snapping open. With careful aim, it fired the loaded bolt at Rocnork.

Converted Shadow Warrior 3 hand crossbow attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25; -2 due to two weapon penalty
hand crossbow bolt damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Rocnork Fort save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22

The wyvaran feels an annoying sting in his throat at the base of his neck. He reflexively reaches up and plucks out the offending item, a tiny dart. Not thinking much of it, Rocnork tosses the thing away.

Rocnork sustains 3 damage and is Healthy at 60 hit points. He takes no penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, as well as AC and caster level.

Trelgath
A wide grin is plastered across the weapon master's face as he stares at the cybernetic servant before him. He then growls in his native Undercommon, Takata, xa'huuli! Usstan inbal muth dos frnskii.Begone, trash! I have found you wanting.

As he speaks, the veins of Trelgath's arms begin to pulse and quiver and his black skin takes on a reddish cast. With a feral gleam in his amber eyes, the weapon master shifts his stance as he launches a barrage of punches at the machine.
Free Action: enters focused rage
Swift Action: spends 1 point of ki to gain additional unarmed strike
Move Action: enters accurate stance
Full-Round Action: flurry of blows with unarmed strike

unarmed strike 1: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28; +2 due to accurate stance

unarmed strike 3: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22; +2 due to accurate stance
unarmed strike damage: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 6) + 2 = 9

The cybernetic servant is rocked by the weapon master's furious assault, the sound of Trelgath's fists striking it ringing out over the plaza. And while the punches seemed to be at random, it soon becomes clear that they are anything but.

When it is over, the construct is issuing sparks from its battered body as well as some strange stuttering noises.

Cybernetic servant 1 has sustained 27 points of damage from Trelgath. It takes a -3 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, as well as AC and caster level.

Rocnork
Ignoring the the pinprick of an injury he has taken from the Clan Nikumu converted, Rocnork grunts to himself as he attempts to hover before calling forth his sand and launching it at the offending creature.
No Action: hover 10 feet off the ground (requires a DC 15 Acrobatics check)
Standard Action: ranged attack with sand blast

Rocnork Acrobatics check: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23; -2 due to strong winds penalty
Rocnork sand blast: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
sand blast damage: 3d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 5, 5) + 7 = 19

The stream of sand strikes the converted, battering it with unrelenting force before dispersing. Much to Rocnork's annoyance, however, the creature is surrounded by faint greenish aura, seemingly unaffected by the blast.

Growling, Rocnork begins moving his arms, sweeping the air about him in a circular motion. As he does this, more particles of sand begin to gather and swirl around his body.
Move Action: gather power

Green Skin
The small awkward reptile issues a series of chirps, clicks and squeaks at the green-skinned man, who groaned reluctantly at the noise. Since coming to these mountains as part of his vision quest, he has known nothing but conflict. First it had been orcs. Then the strange machine things, and finally the black-skinned elves. And now he's learned from his friend that others have come as well.

The tiny carbuncle's gem flashed a brilliant hue of blue as it finishes with a hiss.

Green Skin knows it is correct. If he wants to find some measure of peace while he is here, then something will have to be done about all of the fighting going on. Sure, he had come to an arrangement with the machines, but does not extend to the others that are here.

His mind made up, Green Skin makes his way to the door on the upper level and opens it, only to be greeted by the sounds of more fighting.

With a reluctant sigh, he reaches out to tap one of the combatants, a mechanized black elf, on the shoulder.
Move Action: reach upper level
Standard Action: telekinetic shove

Green Skin's telekinetic shove: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23
telekinetic shove damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

The blue channels of energy running through his translucent arm flare momentarily and the converted Nikumu is sent flying away from Green Skin to slam into a wall.

Converted Nikumu shadow warrior #1 sustains 7 damage, for a total of 10.

And with Green Skin's actions that brings his turn to a close. The battle map has been updated to take the actions taken into account. Next up is Nyyn.

Aiko
The Minkan slows her sprint to a fast walk as she nears the site of the ongoing conflict, having followed Rocnork. Something unseen had quickly brushed past her, nearly prompting Aiko to retaliate with her blades. But she holds back when it is revealed to be the half-drow Nyym when he springs an attack to aid the wyvaran.

She moves in closer, her gaze going up the stairs to see one the Nikumu converted. Something about it calls out to her. Aiko searches her mind to see if she can figure out what that is.
No Action: Religion check (requires a DC 13)
Religion check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

Having now seen it, she reasons that the creature seems like a zombie or any other of the walking dead. Perhaps, despite the mechanical contrivances adorning, it can be affected by power of her Divine Empress.

There is only one way to know for certain.

Aiko presents her daisho toward the abominable creature and calls out in her native Minkan tongue, Tengoku no shisen no shi-ta ni aru no wa subete utsukushi-sadesuga, kōgō wa anata ga nani ni natta ka o tashikani nakimasu. Kanojo no namae de, anata ga kyohi sa reta nokori o mitsukete kudasai! While all under Heaven's gaze is beauty, the Empress surely weeps at what you've become. A column of light descends from the sky, focusing on the converted Nikumu as though it were a spotlight. Dark wisps of smoke begin to rise from it even as what exposed flesh it possessed chars and scorches.

Converted Shadow Warrior #3 Will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6; +2 due to channel resistance, - 3 due to Critical threshold; needs a 16 or better for half damage

Unable to withstand the Empress of Heaven's divine light, the converted's muscles begin to shrink, causing the joints to flex until the Nikumu shadow warrior assumes a pose similar to the one her sparring partner Aodhàn does. The column then vanishes, and a warm light rain falls where the remains are standing, despite the cold temperature, just long enough to wash away what was left.

Converted Shadow Warrior #3 sustains 11 points of positive energy damage, for a total of 47, and is destroyed.

Kyt
Kytynna steps up as she falls into the moment, and experiences once more that curious tingling sensation emanate from her back, centered in a point along her spine between her shoulder blades. As this happens, Kyt's normal greenish-blue eyes darken to an aquamarine hue and her hair flickers intermittently to become azure white in color.

Yes, exclaims a near ecstatic Trelgath. Become power made flesh! Line the path to victory with the broken bodies of your foes!

Seemingly unaware of these changes as they are occurring, the elf unleashes a torrent of attacks on her foe in an attempt to take advantage of the weapon master's ferocious assault.

Something in the weapon master's words cause Kyt to be unable to remain in the moment. Her eyes and hair revert back to their normal colors.

Trelgath growls in disappointment. Too much "goodness" fetters your soul! You do not know how to channel your power!

Finding it hard to maintain focus in the face of his declaration, Kyt finds her attacks proving to be ineffective against the cybernetic servant.

And with Kyt's actions done, we move on. The battle map has been updated to take into account what has transpired. Next up is Tsadok, followed by Liesel-Marie to finish up the round.

Tsadok
Tsadok turns his attention to now address the other two remaining converted. As he is formulating an attack plan, a door opens near the one that is now the resting place for one of his shuriken. He sees his friend from below step through. Well, there's nothing wrong with his ears. Tsadok watches him fling the converted with just barely a touch. That's interesting. But he can't worry about him just yet, turning his head toward the other Nikumu.

He swings Sable Moon with a two-handed grip in an arcing swing towards the Nikumu's left shoulder. In order to render his arm useless.

The converted dhaerow locks its gaze with the half-orc, eyes glowing a pale shade of green. Though the strike with Sable Moon had landed precisely where Tsadok wanted, the desired effect did not occur.

As the converted have construct traits, they are immune to both being stunned and making Fortitude checks unless the effect works on objects or is harmless.

Unfazed by this, Tsadok continues his attack, drawing Sable Moon in close to then thrust the blade into the midsection of the converted. He withdraws his blade and shifts to see all of the bridge as the half-orc readies his defense.

Converted Shadow Warrior #2 sustains 18 damage.

Liesel-Marie
Liesel-Marie fairly skips into the arena, saying lightly, "Kyt, mind if I cut in?" She doesn't wait for an answer, focusing momentarily before attempting an earth-shattering blow on their shared opponent.

The hit from Agrimmosh sends parts of the cybernetic servant flying, as though it had been at the focal point of an explosion. Where they lay on the ground, its mechanical limbs twitch spasmodically before suddenly ceasing their movement.

Cybernetic servant 1 has sustained 30 points of damage from Liesel-Marie, for a total of 57, and is destroyed.

And with Liesel-Marie's actions, round 2 comes to an end. The battle map has been updated to take into account what has transpired. Round 3 will start with my next post.

Cybernetic Servant
Upon witnessing the destruction of its partner, the remaining cybernetic servant begins to calculate the odds of it successfully defeating the three organics. In the end, it concludes that, with its current load-out, such a prospect will be nigh impossible. The best option will be to retreat and return with backup.

Once again, it aims the shoulder mounted launcher at the weapons master.
Standard Action: ranged attack
Cybernetic Servant 2 ranged attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8; -2 due to range penalty, touch attack

With both hands free, the weapon master easily snatches the fired net out of the air, then with a growl rips it to shreds.

The cybernetic servant transforms into a disk and begins to roll away in retreat.
Move Action: move 30 feet west

Clan Nikumu Converted Shadow Warrior
Having recovered almost immediately from Green Skin's telekinetic assault, the converted Nikumu prepares to deal with this newest threat. With one hand, it brings the sword over its right shoulder and slashes diagonally at the larger opponent's left arm.

No Action: 5-foot step
Standard Action: melee attack

Converted Shadow Warrior 1 attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
tsurugi critical confirmation: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
tsurugi damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

The shadow warrior finishes it attack with its tsurugi pointing down by its right leg, across the body.

Green Skin sustains 6 points of damage and is Healthy at ??? hit points. Like Rocnork previously, he must make a DC 13 Fortitude check:

Green Skin Fortitude check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

Its lambent green eyes flaring momentarily, the other Nikumu continues to attack the grey-skinned half-orc. As with its previous attacks (and those of the other converted), the shadow warrior stands with more of the weight on the front foot rather than the rear. Its arm is held so that the hilt of the tsurugi is in line with the solar plexus, and the tip of the blade is directed at Tsadok's head. From this stance, it swings the sword round with one hand to the left, then arcs it round behind its back, rising so as to slash at the half-orc's left arm only to follow through, arcing the sword back round its back, but lowering the blade in an attempt to hit the opponent's left leg.

No Action: 5-foot step
Standard Action: melee attack

Converted Shadow Warrior 2 attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
tsurugi critical confirmation: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
tsurugi damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4; +3 damage due to successful critical

The execution of the double attack catches Tsadok by surprise, as up until then, all of the converted's moves had been basic. He can feel the sticky warmth of his blood flowing down the inside of his thigh.

Tsadok sustains 7 points of damage and is Healthy at 44 hit points. He also must make a DC 13 Fortitude check to fight off the effects of drow poison in his system. Failure to make this means that Tsadok will fall unconscious.

Trelgath
The weapon master's eyes narrow into slits as he watches the cybernetic servant roll away. Naut nindol draeval, mechanical uss, he hisses in Undercommon. Not this time, mechanical one.

Trelgath dashes after the servant, his right fist drawn back.
Full-Round Action: charges cybernetic servant

In almost no time, he catches up to the machine and lets fly with his punch.

unarmed strike 1: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26; +4 due to accurate stance and charge, -2 to AC due to charge
unarmed strike damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 1) + 4 = 9

Trelgath's strike connects on the fleeing machine with a resounding clang, but did little (if anything) to slow it down.

Cybernetic servant #2 sustains 9 damage. The battle map has been updated to take into account what has transpired. And with Trelgath's action done, we move on to Rocnork.

The sand discus descends rapidly as it approaches the cybernetic servant, but remains high enough to clear the risk of hitting the dhaerow weapon master before slamming into the machine with brutal force, shattering upon impact. But rather than dispersing, the individual grains of sand, imbued with Rocnork's ki, cling to the servant and continue applying pressure. It isn't long before the machine's forward momentum is diverted, to be pushed a short distance to the south.

Cybernetic servant #2 sustains 19 damage, for a total of 28, and is in the Critical threshold. It takes a –3 penalty on all attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, as well as to AC and caster level. Due to his successful use of the pushing infusion, Rocnork has moved cybernetic servant #2 10 feet to the south.

Green Skin
The burly green skin man does not flinch from the wound dealt to him by the converted Nikumu. In time it will heal. But he needs to give himself that time, and that can only be accomplished by eliminating the threat posed by the mechanized dark elves.

He begins to tap into the cosmic river of aether that winds on predictable paths, much like the world's ocean currents, radiating outward from the Sun to each world in the system, then looping back to Golarion. Green Skin only takes as much as is required to accomplish the task required of him. To take more than that would be to disrupt the delicate balance in place.

Green Skin focuses and channels the gathered energy, picturing a delicate looking but sturdy blue lattice shaped into a dome around him. He then steps away before releasing the aether in a powerful shockwave that radiates outward from him.

Thanks to the narrow corridorlike confines of his current location, the aetheric energy is able to catch the converted dark elf off its guard, impacting with greater than normal force than would have been generated otherwise.

Converted Nikumu shadow warrior #1 sustains 16 damage, for a total of 26, and is in the Wounded threshold. Nyym
Nyym takes no time to celebrate he and Aiko's take down of the converted, instead fast-footing it up the stairs to reach Tsodok, who has opponents on either side. Seeing that the half-orc is battling the one to his right side primarily, the shinobi uses his left foot to kick himself up off the stairs from the left to right side. Nyym plants his right foot to the wall to kick off and back over to his left. The triangular jump puts Nyym passing over Tsodok's shoulder.

Nyym succesfully beats a DC of 22, and thus does not provoke an attack of opportunity from converted Nikumu shadow warrior #1.

Nyym immediately ignites his dual electric kunai as he lands and spins, bringing both the right and the left blades to attack the left side of his opponent's body, ending the athletic display with the electric kunai nearly one foot apart and horizontal to himself.

While Nyym is confidant in the rotation attack back from right to left, he is less so with the attack from his right hand blade from high right to low left. But he needn't have been concerned. The spasmodic jerking from the converted Nikumu leaves no doubt about the accuracy of his attacks.

Nyym neglected to add the +2 bonus he receives from flanking with with Tsadok. He also dor got to account for sneak attack damage, which will give an average of 4 additional damage. As a result, converted Nikumu shadow warrior #1 sustains 19 damage, for a total of 45, and is destroyed. With Nyym's actions done, we move on to...

Aiko
Upon seeing the half-drow make his way up the stairs to assist Tsadok, the Minkan samurai takes the time to assess how best she can of aid. There is fighting in the plaza, but it was being handled by Trelgath and Rocnork, with Liesel-Marie and Kyt both looking to bring an end to the conflict as well.

Aiko knows it will not do to rush into that battle.

At the same time, she also sees that the conflict raging above her on the the landing with Tsadok and Nyym against these converted Nikumu seems well in hand as well. However, Aiko reasons that she can do more to end the fighting there than anywhere else. And so with that thought in mind, the Minkan rushes up the stairs. When she nears the top, the samurai springs into the air, legs tucked beneath her to gain a faster rotation, in an attempt to clear the heads of both Tsadok and his converted opponent.
No Action: Acrobatics check to tumble into a flank with Tsadok

Aiko lands, leading with shingan tō, the mind eye blade, using her wakizashi to parry aside an incoming tsurugi slash from the converted before performing a shoulder ram and finishing by leaping once again into the air, striking with tachi tachichāji, the rising sword charge.

She lands facing her opponent, her daisho held at the ready.

Converted Nikumu shadow warrior #2 sustains 12 damage, for a total of 20, and is in the Wounded threshold. It takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, as well as to AC and caster level. And with Aiko's actions done, we move on to...

Kyt
Not to be outdone by the dhaerow weapon master, Kytynna sprints after the servant, her blue crystal sword trailing in back of her.
Full-Round Action: charges cybernetic servant

Faster than even Trelgath was with his run, she catches up to the machine. Putting the crystalline temple sword over her head, in line with her spine, Kyt brings the blade down, slicing vertically.

temple sword attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27; +2 due to charge, -2 to AC due to charge
temple sword damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

She ends with her hands at waist height, the blue blade in front of her face. The move is quite a powerful one, but has the drawback of leaving the body vulnerable for a short while.

Kyt stands firm as she watches the cybernetic servant shake, sparks spraying out from its damaged chassis as the construct shudders violently one last time before collapsing to the ground. As it lies there motionless, the lights blinking through the exposed parts of its damaged body gradually slow until they finally wink out completely.

The weapon master looks over at the elf, a smile upon his face as he nods in approval.

Cybernetic servant 2 has sustained 10 points of damage from Kyt, for a total of 38, and is destroyed. The battle map has been updated to take into account what has transpired. With Kyt's actions done, we move on to Tsadok, followed by Liesel-Marie.

Converted Nikumu shadow warrior #2 sustains 24 damage, for a total of 44, and is destroyed. With Tsadok's actions done, we bring this combat to a close. Everyone gains 605 XP. This brings your current totals to 24,090 (LM, Nyym, Kyt, Rocnork, and Tsadok). Team Ruby is 1,305 XP away from tier 1 of 6th level.

Green Skin surveys the scene before him, noting the three that had been fighting the converted ones.

One woman, two men.

And while one of the trio seems familiar to him, he says nothing to any of them. He will watch and see how they respond to his presence. For while they fought as he had done against a common foe, that did not necessarily mean the three are worthy of his trust.

Down in the plaza, Trelgath lets out a long deep breath. As he does, the reddish cast to his skin fades away even as his blood vessels recede from view. The weapon master is once again in a state of calm. Much like Liesel-Marie's bloodrage, whatever state he had put himself in for the battle left him physically drained.

After a moment, when he seems to have fully regained his strength, the weapon master kneels over the broken cybernetic servant and begins rooting through its remains. Trelgath makes his way over to the other servant's shattered chassis and conducts a similar search. When he is done, he exclaims rather loudly in Undercommon, Vith! F~$!!

I need a DC 15 Society check (or a DC 17 Intelligence check if the character does not have Society as a skill) from those wishing to figure out what kind of creature Green Skin is. I also need a DC 21 Perception check from Liesel-Marie and Nyym to see if they can get some kind of hunch regarding Green Skin.

Society/Intelligence check Success:

Green Skin appears to be half-goblinoid, specifically half-bugbear, and half-elven. The typical half-bugbear view on problem resolution tends towards one of two views, avoidance or abrupt resolution. They are known to enjoy skulking and horrifying enemies, usually with the skills inherent in rogues or slayers. They also like hunting, regardless of what the target is. Ranger, hunters and the rare inquisitors seem to be fun to be around and a young half-bugbear may be swayed towards one of these roles if they encounter them. Likewise, some half-bugbears find themselves invested with magic and take to being sorcerers, shamans, or oracles.

Perception check Success:

There seems to be something familiar about Green Skin, as though you've encountered him before. Perhaps as recently as within the past fortnight (two weeks).

No one should suffer such fate as these. Thier bodies should not be desecrated in such manner as this an thier spirit should be allowed to rest free and in peace.

The samurai listens to Nyym. She can only guess at the emotions running through him as he stares at the remains of the Nikumu that lay before him. They are, because of his half-drow heritage, born of the same clan. To see them in this manner, as deceased servants of the machine, and not the beings they once were, has to fill him with some level of anger.

And yet, his biggest concern is for the people of Trunau.

There is no mistaking the strength of the conviction, both in his voice and on his face. Aiko can sense that nothing short of his own demise will keep him from seeing this mission through.

And, upon doing so, the samurai can also feel the tug of recent memory. She also has met this one before. But when? It wasn't during her travels with Calrianne, of that she is sure. So it would have been after her arrival to the town of Trunau.

She stares at Green Skin more intently now, trying to work this mystery out in her mind. Aiko pictures him without the strange glasslike limbs he has now, but instead with arms and legs of flesh and blood.

Eyes of the Sun! It can't be!

Her face is overcome with a mixture of shock and sadness.

Green Skin turns to regard Nyym. I have been to Trunau. I stopped there for a time before undertaking a ritual that brought me to this place. His voice, though a mere growl, is deep and resonant. His eyes flash a faint blue as he continues. Here, I fasted for four days and nights until a great healer revealed himself to me and taught me many things.

And now that you know why I came here, what has brought you to this place?

But he did not give off the air that he was. In Nyyms mind. Green Skin was not a threat until he dis something to prove otherwise.

I need a DC 22 Influence/Charisma check from Nyym to see if he can change Green Skin's attitude (which is currently at unfriendly). He receives a +4 circumstance bonus to the roll because of what he's said so far. Aid another check's can be done by Liesel-Marie, Rocnork, and Tsadok as well by making DC 10 Influence checks. Each successful aid another check will grant Nyym a +2 bonus to his roll. If Nyym succeeds, he improves Green Skin’s attitude toward him by one step (to indifferent), plus one more step if he beats the DC by 5 or more (to friendly). He can’t shift an attitude by more than two steps with a single check. If Nyym fails by 4 or less, then Green Skin’s attitude is unchanged, and if he fails by 5 or more, then Green Skin’s attitude decreases by one step (to hostile).

Influence Check Success:

You call yourselves defenders of Trunau? Green Skin folds his arms and when he does, it brings to mind a memory...

Relieved, the head innkeeper turned to leave as well when she took notice of Team Ruby's arrival.

Welcome back, Cham said as a warm smile formed on her plump face. I've got your room keys here. Sign or make your mark on the ledger. I'll have Bosco help you with Aodhán there. BOSCO!

Lumbering from the back came a burly and muscled man with moss-green skin. His fiery orange eyes, broad face, and sharply pointed ears gave his features somewhat of a feline cast. You called?

There you are. Please help them get Aodhán to his room.

With a grunt, Bosco reached out and easily hoisted the bouncer up across his shoulder before making his way up the stairs with Aodhán.

I'm going to miss him when he leaves, sighed Cham as she watched Bosco. Something about a vision-quest in the mountains west of here. I wish him luck with that. Turning her attention back to the remaining three teammates, the halfling continued. I appreciate your help in getting him here. He's a bit rough at times, but Aodhán is a good lad. He'd make some lucky person a good and proper mate.

If you truly are what you say, then I will aid you. But only so far as defeating whatever threat to Trunau this place imposes. I would not see harm visited upon Cham and the others.

You call yourselves defenders of Trunau? Green Skin folds his arms and when he does, there is more than a strong hint of anger present in his features. True defenders of Trunau would never traffic with the likes of these dark elves. They would be in town, ensuring the safety and well-being of its inhabitants. Not here acting as scavengers and bringing the possibility of more harm upon them.

As Green Skin speaks, the carbuncle begins to emit a cloying smoky scent.

Since you have refused to act as you should in your role as defender, then allow me to guide you in a manner most suited to your nature. You will leave this place and return to Trunau, never to return here again. If you do not, then I will have no other recourse than to use force and make you do so.

We to wish no evil befall Cham, Ruby, or any others the call Trunau home. We look forward to being able to return home once our tasks are completed. We appreciate any assistance you can give us.

Hearing the foot falls on the stairs. Nyym suddenly felt uneasy. He only knew Trelgath breafly and although he offered to be thier guild. He had yet to mention one word or show any sign of recognition toward Aiko. That bothered Nyym even more now that he thought about it. He turned to the others..

Wheres Kyt and Trelgath?

Tsadok watches as Aiko heels his winged friend. And then begins to make her way up the stairs. She comes up next to him, where he sees her hands begin to glow.

Aiko your magics will not work on me but my thanks to you. Save them for the others that will benefits from them.

And with that being said Tsadok makes his way down the stairs, It is becoming far to crowded here.

Listening to Tsadok's statement causes Aiko to stop. My magic won't work on him. How is that even possible?

She recalls her training from the elven priests of Jinin, specifically concerning the revitalization of a living creature through the molding of spiritual energy with their own physical energy, which is commonly referred to as ki. With proper training, those capable of channeling spiritual energy can heal injuries ranging in severity from the most minor to the extremely severe in any creature possessing the spark of life. The same energy can also be used to bring great harm to those animated through dark forces, such as the walking dead.

However, there also existed those possessing attributes of the undead while being alive. In Tian-Xia, they were typically referred to as ru-shi, the mortal progeny of the jiang-shi, a vampiric creature that feeds on the ki of the living. Usually rejected and mistrusted for its lineage, a ru-shi is rarely accepted into normal society. Most grow up as orphans, as few mothers survive birthing them, and most have difficulty forming real relationships with others.

Ultimately, most ru-shi feel the pull to evil, or at least moral ambiguity, and view those around them as tools and pawns. A small handful, however, have been known to reject this, vowing to destroy the undead horrors responsible for their conception.

As she watches him descend the stairs, Aiko can't help but feel both a sense of admiration and sadness towards Tsadok. If he is indeed what she thinks him to be, then Tsadok has obviously chosen to fight his nature and become a boon to society. This would also explain his initial hesitance with regard to Nyym. As one with a dark heritage himself, he might have seen the half-dhaerow as something that was "too good to be true", someone that found acceptance by others where Tsadok had not.

She hopes that the two can eventually build a better relationship with one another. In the mean time, Aiko will keep his secret, until such a time that Tsadok is ready to reveal it to the others.

Passing Tsadok as he makes his way down the staircase, the weapon master of Clan Nikumu has been catching bits of the conversation between the half-bugbear and the members of Team Ruby.

Bosco listens to the words of the bloodrager. He hears the passion in her words, something he initially finds hard to reconcile with the solemn blacksmith's apprentice that he once saw back in Trunau. From his shoulder, the carbuncle releases a scent very similar to that of ham.

Very well. Despite my companion's worry where you're all concerned, I have been moved by your words. No, the conviction behind your words. He turns to regard Liesel-Marie with a smile that was both warm and somewhat frightening.

As Trelgath nears the top of the stairs, he hears the next words uttered by Bosco. And as far as the danger this place poses to Trunau, you only have to look at the bodies lying before you to understand what that means.

The half-bugbear stretches a massive hand out, indicating the corpses of the converted Nikumu.

This is a fate I would not wish upon anyone. Not the citizens of Trunau. Not even the dark elves themselves.

The weapon master's smile fades from his lips, replaced by a serious glower. Stepping upon the landing, Trelgath speaks in Common, his barely contained anger obvious:

Don't listen to this one. He is obviously trying to fool you so that he can take you before his machine master where you too will become converted. Just like he did with Clan Nikumu.

Influence check to demoralize: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28

Bosco's features become downcast and the blue glow fades from his orange eyes, while the scent of brimstone emanates from the carbuncle with a confused trill.

The weapon master looks over each the members of Team Ruby, a sadistic grin curling his lips. This is our chance to take him down. Once and for all. And if you will not, then stand aside and allow me to do so.

The reddish cast returns to Trelgath's obsidian skin as his veins become noticeably visible on the surface and his white hair breaks free of the ponytail holding it in place to float and flare in the air. Last of all, his amber eyes darken, becoming black pits.

It's obvious that the weapon master intends to take the half-bugbear out, but Trelgath is also waiting to see what you will do. In the mean time, Bosco is shaken for 2 rounds (–2 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks). I'm not going to post a map just yet until I find out what everyone intends to do, but I will roll initiative so that you can each react accordingly.

Nyym rotates in place keeping between Trelgath and Bosco..

There is no need for needless bloodshed. As I recall. You have been down here for a time offered to be our guide once you knew our intent. We excepted you at face value and shall do the same with Bosco. Bare in mind. We excepted you only knowing what we were told outside by the Priestess. We know Bosco and he has not shown hostile actions toward us. Judging from the attacks. The machine does not want us converted. It wants us destoyed.i do not wish to fight one of my own. But if I must then I will. I swore an oath to defent Trunau and its citizens. Bosco falls in that category and will be defended.

There is a seriousness in Nyyms tone that leaves no doupt that his next move will be based on Trelgath.

Tsadok almost to his friend stops and turns as he hears the statement made by the weapon master. What is going on? Now who is friend or foe? Goes through his head. But he does not wish to find out empty handed, he brings forth Sable Moon and grasps it with both hands.

Ready yourself my friend. he says to Rocnork. Not knowing which way this will play out.

Weapons Master there is no need for this, he has proven a friend. Do not prove you are the foe.

Bosco
For his part, the subject of Trelgath's scorn, seems at a loss. He glances over at the set of stairs nearest, knowing that he can just take them and be done with the lot of them. However, such a cowardly approach was not in his nature.

I did not know what to expect when I led you there. And its not as if I escaped unharmed from it. Bosco displays his limbs toward the weapon master. While did not lose members of my clan, I too lost much that day. Do not take the anger of your loss out on them. If it will quiet the rage you feel, then I willingly offer myself up to you as a sacrifice.

Kyt
The elf stops near Tsadok and Rocnork.

What is going on?

Trelgath
The Clan Nikumu weapon master looks over at Tsadok, then Nyym, and finally Bosco. Immediately, Trelgath is reminded that he is alone in this place. While he may possess the skill necessary to overwhelm this group, even he had to acknowledge that their numbers more than balanced that advantage out.

If you are going to ally yourselves with that, the weapon master growls in Common, indicating Bosco as he speaks, then I will go my own way. But mark my words, green one. I will have your head as a trophy to take back to my priestess.

With another glance at those gathered around him, Trelgath's form shimmers, revealing a half drow and half segmented centipede monstrosity. There is a scuttling sound, as of many hard-edged legs as Trelgath then clambers down the side of the building, writhing and twisting as its legs catch hold with equal ease on both floor and wall.

Everyone gains 1,600 XP. This brings your current totals to 25,690 (LM, Nyym, Kyt, Rocnork, and Tsadok). Team Ruby is 295 XP over what is needed for tier 1 of 6th level and 3310 XP away from tier 2. Make the appropriate adjustments to your characters (if needed).

Nyyms eyes went wide at the site of Trelgath. There was some serious illusion magic at work for him. Seeing Trelgath in his actual form. Nyym had to wonder what other secrets the Weapons master held. At the same time Nyym was afraid to find out. Nyym remained on his guard till the sound of Trelgath faded in the distance. Turning back to Bosco, he let out a long slow breath. Happy that if only for the moment, they avoided a fight.

Seems you have been through much while down here. I can not even begin to know what you have suffered through. But we are grateful for you help. While I must admit I am curious as to what happened. I will respect if you do not wish to relive those moments though a tale of it. But know that you are among friends with us.

I can not begin to understand the pain of what he has been through. But it says much of him to risk it again to aid us.

Aiko looks to where Trelgath stood, then to the others.

It would seem that the weapon master is an ōmukade, the samurai says, still somewhat in shock by what she has just witnessed. When she is more settled, the Minkan continues: They are vicious and a highly aggressive type of yokai, or monster of supernatural origin. It is said that an ōmukade’s exoskeleton is so tough that it can’t be pierced by weapons. Ōmukade are extremely rare. When they are seen, they pose a threat to all in the area. Throughout history, the responsibility of exterminating these monsters has fallen on the shoulders of the bravest warriors.

DM Blayde: Technically, Trelgath is a drider. However, given that Clan Nikumu are from Minkai, using the usual spider-type didn't seem the best way to go with him. Then I came across the Japanese legends concerning the ōmukade, and with that in mind, I built Trelgath as a drow then added the drider template, modified to take into account him being a centi-drider rather than a spider. Mukade is the Japanese word for centipede, so ōmukade roughly translates into "great" or "giant centipede". Ōmukade are monstrous mukade–centipedes with dark bodies and bright orange legs and heads. They are often depicted with dragon-like features. While their non-monstrous cousins can grow up to 20 cm in length, the upper size limit on yōkai mukade is not known.
