DM Blayde MacRonan's Of Aeons and Giants: The Continuing Adventures of Team Ruby (Private Campaign, Closed Recruitment)

Game Master Blayde MacRonan

The orcs attacking Trunau have been defeated, but the danger remains - the hill giant chieftain Grenseldek still wants the treasures of the tomb beneath Trunau. In order to protect their chosen community, the members of Team Ruby must leave it and travel to deal with this most imminent threat. Yet even putting down Grenseldek and her squabbling monstrous minions may not be enough to save Trunau. For there are stranger forces at play, and a storm is brewing on the horizon...

As Nyym watches the creatures. It acures to him that since energy seams to be a food source. He might be best using his new blades instead of his energy blades should they have to fight.

Not sure if its anything just yet. But thier feeding is not constant or steady. More like irregular in pacing. Could have something to do with lack of available energy or the energy is running out for them. If that's the case, they may be on the move again soon.

Nyym continues observing as he speaks.

As the half-drow continues watching, the energy sputters out. The creatures huddled around it begin to move away and wander about.

If you're going to do something, you'll need to do it soon. You're running a great risk of possibly being spotted by them the longer you take to come up with a solution.

It would seem that our best course of action, since none of us have anything that can be used to distract them with, is to wait until the energy returns and let the creatures feed while we hopefully slip past them unnoticed.

Kytynna gives a resigned shrug. The elf turns to regard Liesel-Marie with a hint of a smile. We'll do our best to avoid a fight. But if we can't, then don't hold back from the fight either. I want all of us to come through this alive.

If everything works out like it should, you won't have to do either, says Kytynna with that warm reassuring smile of hers. Now, let's go ahead and do the damn thing, as a certain Chelish bouncer would say.

That last statement is made with a slight flicker of sadness that is replaced with fierce determination just as quickly.

After nearly an hour passes, the energy of the wrecked vehicle sputters back to existence, its return immediately drawing the glowing creatures back to it so that they can feed.

I will make this simple and roll the group Stealth check vs. their Perception.

Drow Bunker Map - Updated to take into account the following:

At the end of a long traverse of the hex-tunnel, passing occasional dripping crevices and black sludge-pools teeming with tiny white worms, but seeing naught else save for nearly transparent spiders and black-shelled arthropods with red-glowing eyes, you see a catwalk rise above you, and beyond it a ramp leading up. A metal jamb holds the remnant of a shattered glass wall, much like the one you passed at the tunnel’s other end.

This room is identical to the previous room you went through but is in somewhat better repair, with the small cell-chambers on either side mostly intact. There are traces of the black residue here, but less than in the outer antechamber. There is also smashed glass here as well (marked as 6A on the map). The ramp here leads up, rather than down, and stretches 200 feet. It rises 50 feet back to the surface level and leads into a large atrium 30 feet wide and 40 feet long.

This large chamber is crafted of stone, tile, and metal, with large windows now mostly broken. Strangely curved mosaics and carvings, looking almost half-melted, decorate the walls while vaguely disturbing statuary in an inhuman style stands at the foot of each pillar between the great windows. There are no obvious doors visible, though the empty steel window-frames offer ample egress into the unearthly cityscape beyond.

Aiko is able to surreptitiously locate the tiny steel creatures without drawing their attention. She (along with Nyym) is able to tell you they are tiny spherical spider-like constructs about two feet wide from leg to leg that are obviously not designed to engage in combat.

Moving about the room, Aiko begins examining the various displays of art. She isn't sure what to make of the mosaics and carvings decorating the walls, nor the statues, as what the samurai sees is nothing at all like the exquisite works typically produced by the elves of Jinin.

She finds herself at one of the many empty steel window frames, staring out to see what further awaits them.

Looking out, Aiko (and anyone else who does the same) can see that the atrium opens onto a plaza, with narrow avenues extending in all directions between massive angular towers of metal, stone, and glass, much weathered and scarred by time and the elements. Here and there, large, twisted green plants twine up the sides of ancient buildings, and occasionally a whisper of movement is seen through the haze of bluish radiance shrouding the sky above.

The area beyond the room looks to be fairly large and is encompassed by a faint bluish energy field that sheds dim light throughout the ruins below. However, its power is sapped by failing mechanisms and by the constant gnawing of the strange blue creatures below ground draining its force energy. While functioning, winds are reduced to calm and temperatures are increased by 70 degrees compared to prevailing outside temperatures. However, every hour there is a chance that the field ruptures and collapses, exposing those in the ruins to extreme cold and severe wind conditions.

Kytynna moves further into the atrium, standing just behind both Aiko and Liesel-Marie as she also stares out of the steel-framed window.

This place just got a whole lot weirder. We're definitely going to have to be careful while we're here. The elf continues, her expression one of awe and an almost childlike sense of wonder. Looks like we're back outside, but further in the mountain range. That may have caught the dhaerow completely by surprise while they were here. At any rate, I'm curious as to how all of this got to be here. I've never seen any kind of structures like these before.

Nyyms looked over the markings and out though the broken glass. Then back to the strange metal creatures. This place fascinated him. He could see the dhaerows obsession with this place. It was a technical wonder. It also scared Nyym with the implications should they gain such a place and its hidden secrets.

This place is like us. A place out of time. Maybe even another realm or even world entirely. If the dhaerow gain this place. The implications could be endless as well as potential disastrous.

This thought sent a chill up Nyyms spine that had nothing to do with the temperature. No, this had to do with what they were gonna face and what they may have to face in the future.

This place is wonderous and bizarre. But frightening at the same time. We no nothing of this place or what is hidden within. The implications of the dhaerow gaining such a place is even more frightening. This place, like us, seams to me to be from another time. Maybe even another place. Or world if that is possible.

Nyym looked back up to the creatures before he continued.

Those thing, unlike the other we encountered, have not reacted hostile toward us. They maybe some sort of creature that's used purely for observation give the size the one eye. This is all speculation on my part. But I do not believe we have even scratched the surface of the mystery of this place. I also have to wonder if this is something that was dormant till the dhaerow woke it or them up.

Nyym joined the others looking out the window at the area beyond. Nyym couldn't shake that feeling that usually accompanied one when they stepped into another world. That in a sense is exactly what they had done. Stepped into a world very unlike and more dangerous then thier own.

As the quartet of Aiko, Kyt, Liesel-Marie, and Nyym stand gathered near the window, a low but audible click comes from the western wall as panels on the spindly mechanical arachnid's body rotate open and lift up to reveal a pair of insectile wings that begin beating furiously against the air, accompanied by a strange tick-tack sound, until it rises from the flat surface on which it once perched. The tiny construct hovers for a moment above where it had just been resting before darting towards the closest open window.

The other spider-like construct remains where it is on the east wall, unfazed it seems by the attempted departure of its companion.

How does the group respond to this event taking place?

Question: Would arcane strike have any effect on her kinetic blade or on Agrimmosh?

Arcane Strike reads as follows: 'As a swift action, you can imbue your weapons with a fraction of your power. For 1 round, your weapons deal +1 damage and are treated as magic for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction. For every five caster levels you possess, this bonus increases by +1, to a maximum of +5 at 20th level.' And kinetic blasts count as a type of weapon for the purpose of feats such as Weapon Focus. Therefore, since Agrimmosh is obviously a weapon and kinetic blade counts as one (it is a kinetic blast with a modified form), both would benefit from the feat, granting Liesel-Marie a +2 bonus to damage.

Liesel-Marie gives a fierce grin. With a moment's thought, her form disappears into a wave of flame that harmlessly passes by her allies. In the blink of an eye, the rager is standing beside the metallic creature with Agrimmosh in her left hand and a blade of fire in her right. As soon as she's in position, she strikes with the fire against Nyym's attacker.

Moving seemingly of its own volition, the machine's vertical rectangular force screen attempts to shift location to compensate for the sudden arrival of the Erutaki. However, the protective barrier is not quite fast enough to prevent the flame blade from connecting with the metal being, which leaves a blackened scorch mark across its left side.

Nyym sees the burst of light that signals Liesel-Marie's blade rush. With no hesitation, the half-drow attempts to throw himself to his left in a roll to get into a flanking position with his partner.

The metallic creature, seemingly in anticipation of this very move, twists its torso to follow the half-drow as he pushes off with his feet to roll from his left shoulder to his right hip and buttock. As Nyym's forward momentum is bringing him back to his feet, the creature attacks once again with its halberd, attempting to catch him in a kneeling position before he return to a more stable upright position.

Cybernetic Monitor halberd attack: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (10) + 18 = 28; +2 from charge for a total of 30
Halberd damage: 1d10 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22

The machine's attack leaves a bleeding gash down the side of Nyym's thigh.

Fighting through the pain, the half-drow generates a kinetic katana in each hand. Risng from his kneeling position, Nyym puts the lightning blades in an X shape and lunges at the machine, then brings them across each other in a scissor motion.

The cybernetic monitor has sustained 37 points of damage this round. Nyym has sustained 22 points of damage and is currently Wounded at 21 hp. He takes a -2 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, as well as to AC and caster level.

Metal Arachnid
Unfazed by the fight that has just broken out in the atrium, the tiny mechanical spider continues its flight, passing through the window and into the plaza as fast as its wings will allow.
Move Action: "Running" at x4 its normal flight speed to cover 120 feet of movement. The metal arachnid is currently outside the scope of combat and thus cannot be targeted. It will be removed from the initiative order in my next post.

The map has been updated to take into account what has transpired. Next up is Tsadok...

Due to health issues, Tsadok's player has been unable to post. So with that in mind, I'm going have him delay his turn to allow the player to act when he's ready. And with that out of the way, let's get this show moving again.

Tsadok
Watching everything unfold before him, Tsadok is genuinely surprised at how quickly both Liesel-Marie and Nyym respond to the threat of the metal man. The two demonstrate an effective ability to coordinate their attacks that can only come with a high level of trust in the other's abilities. He knows that he has to be careful with how he enters the fray, because the slightest misstep on his part can cause their coordinated effort to fall apart, giving their opponent an unneeded advantage.

And so Tsadok waits, biding his time to make the most of his initial assault.

Antagonist: Cybernetic Monitor

Full-Round Action: Full Attack.

The metal man then holds its halberd diagonal, with the left side higher, right hand near its hip. Stepping to the right, the golem pushes out with its left hand while leaving the right in the same position and simply rotates the wrist to nimbly bring the point in line with Nyym's face before thrusting the weapon forward.

Cybernetic Monitor halberd attack: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26; +2 from charge for a total of 22
Halberd damage: 1d10 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20

The half-drow reacts swiftly, stepping back even as he bring his lightning blades up over the shaft of the halberd before bringing them down in an X behind the head to force the polearm's point to the floor. However, the move proves to be a trap as the metallic creature steps back, using the halberd's hook to drag across Nyym's left calf as it does so.

Nyym has sustained 20 points of damage and is currently Critical at 1 hp. He takes a -3 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, as well as to AC and caster level.

The metal man then takes a step back and turns 180 degrees in an attempt to drive the halberd's butt into Liesel-Marie's sternum.

Cybernetic Monitor halberd attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20; +2 from charge for a total of 28
Halberd damage: 1d10 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17

The simple move blasts the wind out of the Erutaki's lungs, nearly causing her eyes to cross.

Liesel-Marie has sustained 17 points of damage and is currently Healthy at 46 hp. She takes no penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, as well as to AC and caster level.

But the the metallic being isn't done yet as it lowers the bottom of the halberd to try and catch Liesel-Marie squarely in the midsection with another powerful thrust.

Cybernetic Monitor halberd attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24; +2 from charge for a total of 26
Forgoing damage to use the cybernetic monitor's knockdown strike ability.
CMB for knockdown: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (2) + 19 = 21

The blow staggers Liesel-Marie, but her unyielding nature allows her to square her feet and prevent the rager from being pushed to the ground.

I'm rather pressed for time at the moment, so I will finish up this round with another post either tomorrow (less likely) or Monday (more likely).

It's good. Thanks to the cybernetic monitor's energized alacrity ability, it is granted, among other things, an extra attack at its highest attack roll when making a full-attack action. Kind of like a localized haste spell.

EDIT I see what you're saying now. The second attack should also be at +18 as well, not +13. This also means that the third attack should be a +13, and the CMB should be +21. I will make the necessary adjustments when I get home from work. In the meantime, the rolls stands they are for this round.

Actually, that's not what I meant. The second attack is summarized as "Cybernetic Monitor halberd attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20; +2 from charge for a total of 28" (emphases mine), which I assumed you meant a total of 22 (which still hits); similarly, the first attack is summarized as "Cybernetic Monitor halberd attack: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26; +2 from charge for a total of 22" (again, emphases mine), which I assumed you meant a total of 28 - and then I realized that the two totals appear to be swapped. Since they were both hits, I probably shouldn't have said anything, but if the attack bonus was wrong (and you care to correct it), I guess bringing your attention to it was the right thing to do. Even if it's going to hurt.

Tsadok
Tsadok watches the battle unfold with the metal creature. Knowing that this creature would be tough to take down, he pauses to find his opening. As he hears the creature talking and engages in its attacks onto Nyym, he grasps his blade with both hands. As the creature delivers its final blow to the Erutaki, he makes his move.

With the metal man’s back exposed to him, Tsadok rushes forward while rotating his blade around and over the top of his head. To deliver a powerful diagonal blow to the back torso of the metal creature.
Move Action: move 15 feet (diagonal)
Standard Action: attack with temple sword

As Tsadok’s blade clears the body of the metal man, he releases his right hand from the blade so as not to slow the blades momentum. As it arcs around to an overhead position where he grasps the blade with his right hand to deliver a downward blow to the metal man’s back.

He then readies himself for the creatures response.

Due to his delay, Tsadok's place in the initiative order is now 16 and will take place after the cybernetic monitor and has been updated with this post.

Rocnork
Taking his cue from Tsadok, the wyvaran grunts to himself as he calls forth his sand and launches it at the metallic creature.
No Action: 5-foot step north
Standard Action: ranged attack with sand blast

sand blast: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15; -4 due to firing into melee
sand blast damage: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5) + 6 = 14

The stream of sand strikes with unbelievable force, battering the metal surface of the golem before dispersing. Much to Rocnork's annoyance, however, the creature seems unaffected by his attack.

Growling, Rocnork begins moving his arms, sweeping the air about him in a circular motion. As he does this, more particles of sand begin to gather and swirl around his body.
Move Action: gather power

Kyt
With an aplomb equal to that of a confident, accomplished dancer, Kytynna wastes no time, moving forward even as she shifts her weapon into a reverse grip before spinning around to bring the blue crystalline blade slashing horizontally right to left, aiming for the machine's torso.
No Action: 5-foot step south
Swift Action: spends 1 point of ki to gain additional unarmed strike
Full-Round Action: flurry of blows with temple sword and unarmed strike

temple sword: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
temple sword damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
unarmed strike 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
unarmed strike critical threat roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
unarmed strike damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
unarmed strike 2: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
unarmed strike damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
unarmed strike 3: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
unarmed strike critical threat roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
unarmed strike damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Even as her weapon finishes sliding across its surface, Kytynna is already transitioning into the next attack, shooting a leg forward as in a front kick, but then pivoting and turning so that a high side kick, followed by a low side kick which in turn flows into a side kick are delivered instead. Three consecutive kicks, performed rapidly and with the heel of her foot, that target the creature's face, thigh, and chest. Had this been a being of flesh and blood, such a combination would have surely sent it reeling back. However, to the elf's dismay, the golem does not budge in the slightest.

Though Kyt has dealt 15 points of damage to her opponent, the cybernetic monitor sustains only 5 points of that damage. It appears the creature is somewhat resistant to physical attacks.

Aiko
Even as Kyt whirls forward to attack, the samurai is moving as well. However, she is focused on a different target: Nyym.

Though she sees that the half-drow is a canny combatant, his recklessness shows her that front-line fighting is not something he excels at. Yet there he is, risking life and limb in coordinating his assault with Liesel-Marie. Such an effort cannot go unrewarded. She rushes to his side, staying clear of the fighting.
Move Action: move 25 feet to Nyym (diagonal 15 feet, then down 10 feet)

We still have need of your bravery. Are you able to continue the fight?

As she speaks, Aiko places a glow hand upon his shoulder. Nyym immediately feels a familiar warmth spread through his body.
Standard Action: casts cure light wounds on Nyym
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Nyym is cured 12 hit points and Wounded at 13 hp. He takes a -2 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, as well as to AC and caster level.

And with Aiko's actions, round 1 has come to an end. The map has been updated to take into account what has transpired. Round 2 begins now. Next up is Nyym, followed by Liesel-Marie.

Liesel-Marie
Liesel-Marie grits her teeth at the blow her friend just took.

As the flame blade disappears from her right hand, she brings the well-used smith’s hammer from her left hand to her right and grips it firmly with both hands. She calls on the flame and fury always waiting within her and calls on her magic to enhance the weapon. All of this happens in the blink of an eye, then she takes two mighty swings at the metal man.

As she swings the unremarkable weapon, the scents and sounds of a forge at work tickle the subconscious minds of those watching and a brief blast of heat as though from a furnace door washes over the them. Her first swing, coming from over Liesel-Marie's shoulder, allows the Erutaki to put the head of Agrimmosh solidly on the side of the golem's head only to pivot while switching her grip to bring the hammer around in a lateral arc that catches it full in the face.

Though Liesel-Marie has dealt an impressive 48 points of damage, the cybernetic monitor sustains only 38 of that damage due to the damage red.

Cybernetic Monitor
The creature stands still for a moment, the lights within its armor slowing down once again. Then it speaks:
REVIEWING PRIMARY DIRECTIVES. ONE: PRESERVE THE ARK. TWO: ENGAGE HOSTILE ENGRAM SEEKERS AND RETURN THEIR BODIES TO THE MEMEKEEPER SO THAT THEIR ENGRAMS MAY BE RETRIEVED AND RESTORED TO COLLECTIVE OF THE RUNE SEA.

It then turns to face Liesel-Marie fully. PRIMARY THREAT TO THIS UNIT IDENTIFIED.

It is obvious each time it says something that there is a random flutter in the metallic man's speech patterns. It would seem that her attack with Agrimmosh hurt it a lot.

It lunges, performing a series of rapid thrusts with the halberd.

Cybernetic Monitor halberd attack: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (17) + 20 = 37; -3 from Critical threshold
Halberd damage: 1d10 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19

Cybernetic Monitor halberd attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 17; -3 from Critical threshold
Halberd damage: 1d10 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19

Liesel-Marie finds herself weaving and bobbing to avoid the dangerous looking weapon. But she can't maintain the pace set by the machine. The Erutaki feels the glowing blade cut into her twice: once on the left shoulder, the second on her right arm, with each hit leaving a pretty sizable gash of seared flesh in the weapon's wake.

Liesel-Marie sustains 38 points of damage and is Critical at 8 hp*. She takes a -3 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, as well as to AC and caster level. Next up is Tsadok.

* I initially thought that Liesel-Marie had already entered bloodrage, but I was wrong. So I went back and adjusted her initial damage taken from 46 to 31 (48 - 17 is 31). Then, taking into account her temporary hit points, I knocked off 15 points from that 38 damage to make it 23. 31 - 23 is 8 hp.

Actually, I gave the cybernetic monitor a hit on her when it shouldn't have gotten one in that last attack routine. That second attack is clearly a miss thanks to the -3 penalty to its attack roll. So Liesel-Marie should have 27 hit points and only be Grazed, with a -1 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, as well as to AC and caster level, rather than -3.

This was the very first attack made on Liesel-Marie, after the cybernetic monitor attack on Nyym which dropped him down to 1 hp. I thought she was already in bloodrage, so I took off from her temporary hp rather than her actual hp, which is why it's listed as her having 46 and being Healthy. When I realized she wasn't in bloodrage, I adjusted as follows:

DM Blayde MacRonan wrote:

But then I realized that the cybernetic monitor's second hit on Liesel-Marie was actually a miss (even with the -2 penalty to her AC from bloodrage, the -3 penalty it has still caused the construct to miss). So I gave back those 19 hit points with this post:

Which is where we currently are now. As Tsadok's player has pointed out to me, my math has been off pretty much for most of this combat. And for that I offer my apologies. I've been somewhat distracted as of late, and that's not what you want to be when running a combat.

Tsadok
Tsadok watches as the metal man has focused his main attention onto the Erutaki. Preserve the ark? Engage hostile engram seekers? What are these things he speaks of… He thinks as he sees the halberd slice into her skin.

Tsadok pauses for a second, seeming to calm himself, he allows his eyes to close but a second before opening them with a snap. He moves with a quickness as he reaches the monitor he seems to shimmer a bit and it almost looks as if Tsadok is in two places. With the monitor in the middle of the Tsadoks, just before the one in front strikes the metal man’s body.

Cybernetic Monitor halberd attack of opportunity: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 20 = 27; -3 from Critical threshold
Halberd damage: 1d10 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15

I'm going to simulate a coin flip to see if the cybernetic monitor attacks either the actual Tsadok (1) or the false image (2). Lets see what we get:
Coin Flip: 1d2 ⇒ 2

Looks like someone got lucky.

The cybernetic monitor, thinking it was experiencing a phenomenon similar to the Erutaki's blade rush, calculates the highest probability of the next attack vector, and swings its halberd that way, only to watch as the weapon passes through the false Tsadok.

After shifting from his original location then back again, the grey-skinned half-orc comes in a downward diagonal motion with his blade across the metal body.

As the first strike clears the body he rolls his wrists to bring the blade’s edge to once again face the monitor and with a strong upwards swing to impact the body once more.

He watches the monitor for its reaction.

Though Tsadok has dealt 27 points of damage to his opponent, the cybernetic monitor sustains only 17 points due to its damage reduction.

Rocnork
Taking advantage of his partner's attack on the metal man, the wyvaran ends his windmilling motion by gesturing at the construct. As he does this, a portion of the particles of sand that had been gathering and swirling around his body pulls away from him, streaking toward his chosen target.
No Action: 5-foot diagonal northwest
Standard Action: spends 1 point of ki and accepts 1 point of burn to empower his kinetic blast, though the burn is mitigated by his use of gather power at the end of his previous turn

sand blast: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23; -4 due to firing into melee
sand blast damage: 4d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 6, 1, 3) + 10 = 23

As though it has been anticipating such a move from Rocnork, the cybernetic monitor causes the rectangular projection of force to shift and intercept the sand stream. The wyvaran growls to itself in Draconic, his words not suitable for tender ears.

The map has been updated to take into account what has transpired. Next up is Nyym, followed by Kyt.

Nyym
The half-drow almost hesitated.. almost.

Each member of the group pounces on the metal monitor like a pack of rabid wolves on a straggling herd animal. He blinks, for he could have sworn he saw Tsadok in two places at once. But there is no time to figure it out. Nyym slips sideways, putting him opposite of Kyt and launches another series of attacks. Planting his foot at the end of the slip, Nyym spins, forming his blade in a reverse position cutting back across and bringing the rotation from the cross-cut to a thrust with the second blade in the hopes of ending this fight.
No Action: 5-foot step
Full-Round Action: full attack with his titan grip admixed electric blast.

Nyym's face is all business and focus as he completes his attacks and turns to face the beast. Although he is still in pain, to look at him, one would not have known after watching his movements.

The cybernetic monitor has sustained 43 points of damage from Nyym's admixed electric kinetic blast. Next up is Kyt.

Kyt
After witnessing the cybernetic monitor's assault on Liesel-Marie, the elf knows this fight can not go on for much longer. Kytynna falls into the moment, and when she does, experiences a curious tingling sensation emanate from her back, centered in a point along her spine between her shoulder blades. As this happens, Kyt's normal greenish-blue eyes darken briefly to an aquamarine hue and her hair flickers intermittently to become azure white in color before settling back to its usual black. Unaware of these changes as they are occurring, the elf unleashes another torrent of attacks on her foe in an attempt to take advantage of Nyym's ferocious assault.
Full-Round Action: flurry of blows with temple sword and unarmed strike, with her first unarmed attack designated as a shattering punch

temple sword: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21; +2 from flanking
temple sword damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
unarmed strike 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27; +2 from flanking, designated as a shattering punch
unarmed strike damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
unarmed strike 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22; +2 from flanking
unarmed strike damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

She brings the sword across in a horizontal slash that the cybernetic monitor blocks with the shaft of its halberd. However, the elf takes advantage of the bind to begin her real assault as her right hand comes away from the sword's handle. Kyt deals the first blow, a thrust using the hinge joints between the phalanges of the fingers that provide flexion towards the palm of the hand. She then folds the hand immediately to switch over to the knuckles, connecting the final strike of the two-hit combination to the construct. They are delivered at nearly the same time, with the briefest of intervals. But the effect is devastating as her fist leaves a miniature crater on its torso from the point of contact.

Though Kyt has dealt 12 points of damage to her opponent, the cybernetic monitor sustains only 7 points due to its damage reduction (and that is due to the shattering punch attack successfully bypassing that defense). Next up is Aiko.

Aiko
The Minkan samurai eyes the mechanical statue warily as she steps forward to face it. She then puts her weapons to work, the keen edges of her daisho flashing with each strike.
No Action: 5-foot step to flank with Liesel-Marie
Full-Round Action: full attack with flurry of blows

tachi attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29; +2 from flanking
tachi damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
tachi attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28; +2 from flanking
tachi damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
wakizashi attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25; +2 from flanking
wakizashi damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

She leads with shingan tō, the mind eye blade, using her wakizashi to parry aside an incoming halberd poke before performing hassō happa, the Eight Aspects Explosive Blast, a technique consisting of consecutive thrusts with both weapons of her daisho.

Though Aiko has dealt 26 points of damage to her opponent, the cybernetic monitor sustains only 11 points due to its damage reduction. However, it is enough to bring the cybernetic monitor down.

Shaking as sparks spray out from its damaged chassis, the construct shudders violently one last time before collapsing to the floor of the atrium. As it lies there motionless, the lights blinking through the seams of its armor gradually slow until they finally wink out completely.

With the construct's defeat, this combat has ended. Everyone gains 870 XP. This brings your current totals to 21,720 (LM, Nyym, Kyt, Rocnork, and Tsadok). Team Ruby is 1,280 XP away from tier 4 or 6th level.

Unless someone stops her, Liesel-Marie brings the hammer down in a crushing blow against the head of the now-inanimate construct before she realizes it has actually fallen.

She drops to her knees as she lets the rage dissipate. She sucks in huge gulps of air as the calm returns. One at a time, she looks at each of her companions and nods to acknowledge how they brought the thing down together.

While I'm pretty sure Aiko will want to see to the wounded before moving on, it's something she can manage whether on the move or by waiting a few minutes. And though she would argue for waiting a bit, in the end, the decision isn't hers to make as she's just a guest here.

After sheathing her daisho, Aiko reaches into the folds of her robes as she approaches Nyym and reveals a thin baton of wood that had been fashioned from an apple tree. The Minkan lightly taps him on the shoulder and utters a single word: Naosu.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Nyym is cured 9 hit points and Grazed at 22 hp. He takes a -1 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, as well as to AC and caster level.

After putting away the wand, Aiko then produces a hinged leather and wood case that she opens, revealing five glass vials, each filled with a lavender fluid. The samurai removes one of the fragile containers and hands it to the half-drow.

Should Nyym drink the contents, he will receive the following benefit:

Cure Serious Wounds: 3d8 + 3 ⇒ (8, 1, 6) + 3 = 18

Nyym is cured 18 hit points and Healthy at 40 hp. He takes no penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, as well as to AC and caster level.

The Minkan samurai then turns her attention to Liesel-Marie, observing how physically drained she is after the battle. The overall effect reminds her of the radh quaress, the leaf dancers, who lose themselves in the flow of the movement of battle, only regaining full consciousness when the dance of battle ends. But there were marked differences between the elven form and whatever it is that Liesel-Marie practices. Leaf dancers rely on dexterity and grace rather than brute strength. They trust on their wits instead of their muscles, choosing to avoid being injured rather than being bulky enough to slough off injury. And they rely on speed, subtlety and precision to inflict devastating damage. The Erutaki's fighting style, however, seems to require that she have an extraordinarily resilient physique with an incredible musculature due to the demands that it imposes. Anyone ill-equipped to handle its rigors will suffer cumulative, physical damage to their body, stunting their body into a more fragile frame which will eventually culminate into progressive issues and causing irreparable muscle damage due to the immense stress imposed on it.

Aiko is concerned that her avel-nys, her sword-sister, may be the proverbial candle that burns twice as bright but only burns half as long. She hopes such is not the case while making her way over to the exhausted warrior. Aiko sets the wood and leather case down as she kneels on the floor next to Liesel-Marie. As with Nyym, she takes out the wand and lightly touches the bloodrager on the shoulder while saying the command word that releases its restorative magic on her.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Liesel-Marie is cured 8 hit points and Grazed at 35 hp. She takes a -1 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, as well as to AC and caster level.

Again, as with the half-drow, Aiko takes up the case and hands one of the vials to Liesel-Marie.

Should Liesel-Marie drink the contents, she will receive the following benefit:

Cure Serious Wounds: 3d8 + 3 ⇒ (4, 3, 3) + 3 = 13

Liesel-Marie is cured 13 hit points and Healthy at 48 hp. She takes no penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks, as well as to AC and caster level.

Aiko has 13 charges remaining on her wand of cure light wounds, and three potions of cure serious wounds, in addition to 6 uses of lay on hands.

Nyym felt much better after the healing administered by Aiko. He looked around at each of the other members. They had all worked well together. While he did not see if any of the others had been hit by the Monitor. He knew where it not for Aikos timely intervention after that second hit. Nyyn rummages through the remains of the cybernetic monitor until he comes across a glowing dodecahedral-sphaped object made from crystalline material and hardware that fits easily within the palm of his hand. Once it is recovered, there is a brief flash of an alien world, an indecipherable word that echoes in each member of the group's head, a trace of an odor like nothing they've ever smelled before, and finally the undeniable impression of a mind seeking desperately after wholeness. A moment later, you all find yourselves standing on what appears to be a glittering, agitated, multi-hued liquid that stretches out all around you but the “liquid” quickly reveals its true nature—it is a morass of glowing "runes", each as intricate and unique as a snowflake. These millions of “runes” merge, separate, leap, flow, and boil within the confines of the sea, each no larger than half a hand-span, but in sum making up the sea. But instead of the sound of dripping, lapping water, the sea of runes gives off a low, basso chant, as if many voices were murmuring and echoing some alien, foreboding refrain. The vision ends, and the object becomes quiescent.
