Isabella moves toward the room to assist. She looks in just as Forest reaches for the woman. When Forest grabs the woman with a controlling grip she goes nuts and lashes out at him. Her hands dent the plates of his armor and leave score marks from her nails. She hits so hard Forest is sure she had to have broken something (hit twice, dmg 14 and 9).
Team is up. She did not attack Runt when Runt cast a spell.

What did Camil's knowledge roll provide? Any info? His 'thought' suggests a revenant but that does not help Runt any. And I assume the grapple by Forest was successful? Let's see if Runt knows anything.

Lavanor was not familiar with what a revenent was, he only knew how much it terrified him. "The horrors of this place are just too much. I must push through this fear. Once we have what we need from here, we can raze the building," he thinks to himself, frozen in fear.
Forest Hunter |
"Argh! None of this would be happening if we followed my plan from the start!" Forest gripes as the cold ladies mean hands tear into his armor. He attempts to pin her that he may more easily pummel her to re-death.

Camil climbs to his feet, overcoming the supernatural terror, What Runt said, she’s an undead thing.. her only purpose in existing is to hunt and kill the person who killed her. Aldern Foxglove.
Ironperenti |
She wrests her arm away from Forest and then rebuffs his and Runt's attempts to pin her arms. Then she lashes out at you both. Forest is wary enough to dodge back and avoids those nasty claws but Runt is not so lucky (dmg 14). The woman tries to pull Runt into a bear hug but fails. "I'm coming Aldern!" she wails, "Your servants will not stop me!"

Why did the 18 to hit strike Runt? She has an AC of 19. Should I assume there were other bonuses involved? Assuming it did hit, 10 of that damage is negated by the False Life and I've updated her tag line appropriately. I assume the PCs are all up now?

Note the channeling was last round, Isabella still has an action this round. I also made a mistake and did not roll will saves for Larry Moe and Curly. I think she's trying to escape and find Aldren! I don't think she'll hurt us if we get out of her way. We could follow her to wherever she's trying to go? He waits to see what his companions think about this.
Runt PbP |
"Makes sense to me. Let's just follow her."
Kizzy Ilionescu |
Kizzy feels her fear was away as quickly as it came, she takes a moment to gather herself. Finally hearing Camil and Runt talk about following the "her" they encountered. She waits to see what happens next.
Forest Hunter |
"Uhh. Seems like a sketchy plan." Forest says, confused.
Sure, let the mean dead girl go.
Lavanor Garavon |
"It's worth a try," Lavanor yells to the group in the room before turning around.
"Move out of the hall. We're letting this creature out of here," he yells back to the others still in the hall before moving back towards the rest of the group.
Runt PbP |
"Yea, and follow her. She will lead us to the guy that created this mess in the first place."
Ironperenti |
As the team hoped the crazed woman heads out through the hall shoving everyone rather violently but not causing any serious injury. She descended the stairs with everyone in tow. In the entry hall she stops and smells the air before screaming, "I'm coming my darling!" and then pulling open one of the northern doors revealing a staircase down.
At this point, Forest and Runt have begun to fall behind. Also, as Kizzy steps off the bottom step she is blasted by heat. The manticore in the center of the room bursts into flame and lashes out with its tail stinging her (dmg 9). She quickly pats herself down to keep the flames from spreading. When she is done, the manticore stands quiet and moldy as before. Onlookers only hear her cry of surprise and see her clothes burst into flames briefly before she pats them out.
(slow down for Forest and Runt or keep up with the woman?)

Ironperenti |
Only Kizzy saw the manticore burst into flames and come to life.
The woman rushes down the steps and turns left at the bottom. The room opens up into a kitchen at the bottom of the steps not that she pauses. A large oak table, its surface covered with moldy stains and rat droppings, sits in the center of this large kitchen. Shelves line the walls, and an oversized fireplace dominates the northeast portion of the room. The shelves in the southwest wall are in a much greater state of disarray, and two one-foot-wide cracks in the wall near the floor lead south into the earth beyond the basement walls. The woman heads down a small hall. At the end of the hall she stops to open a door. Kizzy during the pause hears movement coming from the kitchen. It sounds like a bunch of tiny movements, the she begins to see rats come out of the cracks and other openings in the room.
Upstairs, Runt finally reaches the bottom of the steps and the manticore bursts into flames, to her eyes anyway. It's tail lashes out at her (dmg 11) causing flames to burst upon her clothes (this, everyone sees). She, like Kizzy, quickly taps them out and by then the manticore is back to normal.

After putting out the flames she pulls out a scroll of expeditious retreat and casts the spell. After that her little legs don't seem to slow her down much and she quickly catches up to the leaders.

Ironperenti |
The woman opens the door and moves through. Everyone follows as rats begin to poor out of the walls in the kitchen. Most find they are in a long hallway. At the end, she stops to open yet another door. Luckily, this opens on a room and everyone piles in leaving room in the hall for their team mates who are closing in from behind. This room looks to have once been some sort of arcane workshop, although little remains but broken glassware, shattered jars of pottery that contain dust and mold, and several rusty instruments and tools. A row of soggy books sits on the northern end of a workbench along the western wall. At the other end of the workbench, what looks like three iron birdcages sit, each containing a dead diseased rat. To the east, two stained-glass windows loom. The northern window depicts a thin man with gaunt features drinking a foul-looking brew of green fluid, while the southern one shows the same man but in an advanced state of decay, as if he had been dead for several weeks. His arms raised and head thrown back in triumph, his rotting body turns to smoke and spirals into a seven-sided box.
When Isabella enters the room, it appears that the man in the stained glass windows is sneering at them all. The she sees the books on the table and is drawn to read them. Does she do so?
Although Forest and Lavanor get ahead when Runt stops to cast her spell, the increased speed allows her to make up the difference. She just makes it to the hall south of the kitchen before the rats pour into the area closing off all movement. Runt closes the hall door as the velociraptor springs through. Looking at the door, she is unsure if the rats can make it under the door or not.
Up front, the woman heads out a second door from the room into a small hall with yet another door. She opens this one onto a set of steps open to the room they descend into. Piles of broken stone, dirt, and a few ruined pickaxes line the edges of this room. The floor in the middle of the room has been torn up to reveal an ancient set of stone spiral stairs, obviously of much older construction than the surrounding basement, winding deep into the bedrock below. A foul stink, like that of rotten meat, wafts up on a cold breeze from the darkness. The woman plunges into the darkness.
Camil is to the first landing when he stops momentarily.
Once Camil recovers, the woman is gone somewhere below.

Isabella pauses and, against her better judgment, stops to check one of the books in a room full of strange stained glass windows. Probably a bad idea, and yet...
