Welcome! This is a "by request" run of PFS Scenario 4-19 for Core characters! Sign up via this Google Sheet.
I expect on average one post a day during the week, and at least one post over the weekend. I generally check in 1-2 times a day to respond to questions and update, particularly during combats, but that can go up or down based on how busy I am at work. If you are not in a US time zone, let me know so I have an idea of when to expect to hear from you (and so I can put another pin in my "where are my players from" map! :) ). If you know you're going to be out for an extended period, let me know and provide some sort of botting instructions.
For chronicles, please post the following information in this format (it helps me to keep organized to have everyone do it the same way):
Player Name:
Character Name:
PFS ID#:
Faction:
Character level (for subtier determination):
Normal or Slow track:
Day Job check or Downtime activity:
Please post an in-character introduction in the Gameplay thread, and an out-of-character one here. It will help me to have a heads-up on any particularly high skill checks, attacks, or AC, or special abilities that may be unusual.
Ironshanks Magee
|
Player Name: Massee
Character Name: Ironshanks Magee
PFS ID#: 202046-8
Faction: Grand Lodge
Character level (for subtier determination): 4th

Ironshanks is a stereotypical dwarven fighter. Axe and shield, high AC. Grouchy, and older. He likes to sunder weapons if appropriate.
Ironshanks Magee

Oh, just so you know. I did play this in the last year or so in regular mode. The details are a bit fuzzy but either way I'll let others do most of the decision making, which as a 10 INT 8 CHA fighter is pretty easy.
Korum of the Silver Eyed Wolf
|
Thank you for your consideration.
Player Name: TriShadow
Character Name: Korum of the Silver Eyed Wolf
PFS ID#: 151777-18
Faction: Darchive
Character level (for subtier determination): 2
Normal or Slow track: Normal
Day Job check or Downtime activity: One day
I also have a 4th level CORE "ninja" (Fighter/Rogue 2/ Monk) if we decide to play up.
For the record, I too have played this in standard. Happy to take a back seat in the decision making.
| GM Rinaldo |
Hey, TriShadow! You hadn't filled in the google doc sign in form, so I wasn't sure if you were going to make it! :)
If you play your 2nd level, the APL will be 2.5, and the party can choose to play low tier, or play high tier with 4 player adjustment. If you play your 4th level, the APL will be 2.8, so we will be high tier with 4 player adjustment.
Other players, state your preference.

Waiting for Zordlon Moonsilver to check in, and I have a list going for a second table. I'm going to give a little longer to see if more people show interest, then may do one table high tier and the other low tier, if the levels work out right for it. Plan to get started some time over the weekend most likely.
Zordlon Moonsilver

Player Name:Zach D
Character Name:Zordlon Moonsilver
PFS: 133462-25
Faction: Dark Archives
Character Level: 2
Normal or Slow track: normal
Day Job check or Downtime activity: N/a

OK, I currently have 10 players signed up. Sorting by level, we have
4 Ironshanks Magee
4 Hannar the Wild
3 Lady Alya De Qill
3 Bemmer Anvilbrow
2 Flaith
2 Zordlon Moonsilver
2 Seebonickk
2 Xusius Xometh
2 Korum
1 Moria Dolar
With this set, I'm thinking of putting the top four together with the option of playing either tier 4-5 as four players or tier 1-2 as six; the remainder would be solidly playing tier 1-2 as six players.
Does that work for everyone? Would anyone prefer to change characters to switch tier?
Ironshanks Magee
|
Ya if one of the low crew has a higher level we could even it up at 5 players per group. Ironshanks is my only core character so he is solid as is.
As far as role, Ironshanks is very much a tank melee fighter.
Zordlon Moonsilver
|
Zordlon is my only core character available, however, I do not mind playing a pregen character at level 4 to even us out a bit.
| GM Rinaldo |
Actually, I generally prefer to split 10 people as 6 and 4, as 5 characters don't get the "4 player adjustment", so have the same challenge that six would.
Regardless, I'll go however the players prefer.
| GM Rinaldo |
I'll give a little longer for everyone to respond. Tomorrow afternoon or evening (USA Pacific time) I'll set up the second campaign thread and get things rolling. Thanks for bearing with the delay, everyone. I wasn't expecting such a large response to this one. ;-)
Korum of the Silver Eyed Wolf
|
I have a level 4, but that seems to split the current group to numbers to 5 & 5. However, I'm good with either tier makes it work for everyone else (especially Rinaldo).
Moria Dolar
|
This may show my tenderfootedness, but I noticed an Investigator class signed up. I didn't think Investigator could be in a core game? And apologies if I'm totally wrong.
| GM Rinaldo |
Nope, you are right ... I hadn't reviewed the list carefully.
GM Panic, this is a Core game, do you have a core character to play?
Korum, if you weould prefer to play your 4th level character, go ahead. If GM Panic doesn't have another character, we'll have a table of 5 anyway.
Lady Alya De Qill
|
Arr core races AND classes.
Sorry going to have to drop
best of luck everyone.
| GM Rinaldo |
OK, looks like that gives us 9 players. If TriShadow swaps to their 4th level character, that gives us
Table 1 - Tier 1-2, no adjustment
Roxxie613 / Moria Dolar (1)
Xathos of Varisia / Xusius Xometh (2)
qstor / Seebonickk (2)
Z..D.. / Zordlon Moonsilver (2)
Helikon / Flaith (2)
Table 2 - Tier 4-5, 4 player adjustment
Massee / Ironshanks Magee (4)
TriShadow / ? (4)
philipjcormier / Hannar the Wild (4)
Ietsuna / Bemmer Anvilbrow (3)
I'll get Table 2 set up, then post a link. Once that is done, we can get started!
| GM Rinaldo |
Ok, here is Table 2. You four please check in over there.
I still need to get Xusius checked in over here, then we can start up the low tier group.
Xusius
|
I am here. Sorry, we were at the hospital late last night and I didn't get to see the info until just now.

Apologies that I had not yet done this.

Nothing particularly abnormal here. I do have an alias for raging and fatigued that I intend on using, if that's allowed?
| GM Rinaldo |
There are times in the story where asking for a check would give away that something is happening, so instead of rolling secretly I am going to have everyone make several checks in advance. This way, you can also let me know of any situational modifiers that might apply, and can also flag a check as something you would spend a reroll on. In the latter case, give me a second check, and when the time comes, I will tell you if your re-roll got spent.
Please fill out each of the checks below, and mark "N/A" on knowledge skills you lack.

Thank you! She had total knee reconstruction four weeks ago. Her other leg is swollen and that's because she can't walk around yet. Should be okay, but they wanted to check for blood clots. Went back today for a doppler scan and waiting for results.

This weekend is PaizoCon, so I will be post seldom if at all between Friday morning and Monday evening. There is a chance I might check in Saturday evening, but it's not guaranteed.
Xusius
|
I am fine with that. I wasn't at PaizoCon, but I ran 7-98 yesterday and it ended up taking all my day away. It's just a busy holiday weekend.
I hear PaizoCon is a blast with the PF2 teasers. I can't wait until it comes out.
| GM Rinaldo |
Recovering from the convention, may post tonight if my brain has enough cycles. If not, could be Wednesday, as Tuesday may have "catch up from the days off" issues.
I didn't go to the banquet, but if you watch twitter for the hashtag #MyPathfinderSpoiler you can see what's been "leaked". Apparently Buhlman stated that the entire core rulebook was reworked after the playtest, so I'm hoping that the issues I had with it have been improved.
Xusius
|
He said that in a Know Direction podcast a few months ago. Based on the pieces I've seen I think PF2 is going to be a hit. I'm sure the diehards won't accept it, but there's nothing that can change their opinions. They will just have to continue being limited to PFS1 or SFS and that's fine. It is pretty apparent that Paizo needs to rejuvenate Pathfinder and attract more players from outside the current base like 5e has. If they don't do that, then PF will become a niche rule set.
Zordlon Moonsilver
|
I too was reluctant at first, but I keep telling myself, if I submit review and playtest data, it will get better. And so it did. I have even started changing some of the minds here locally. But, as you just said, I have some diehards that are just refusing.
Xusius
|
I'm the main GM and organizer of two events. I've been speaking with the players and they're pretty open-minded about it. I'm not going to just stop scheduling PFS1 sessions. We just won't have enough PFS2 content to switch completely over and no one wants that to happen anyway. We'll just offer both 1 and 2 and go from there. One event has no SFS while the other one has a big contingent.
I really see PFS2 as a means to bring an entirely new batch of players into our game play as well as to bring some of the former players back who burnt out on PFS1.
As for the diehards, every time they start their whining I start talking about how PF is nothing but a derivative of AD&D which I played and ran back in 1979, so if they want to stick with the original rules set I can run AD&D 1e. They can't counter that. Most of it comes down to them not wanting to change or not being able to play some completely screwed up characters that unfortunately exist in PFS1 due to the poor way the d20 math was able to handle expansion of PF1 rules.
Moria Dolar
|
I'm pretty new to PF in general, but I'm excited to see what 2E brings. My local group is newly founded and loathe to give up their fairly new 1E characters, but a few may come around, and our GM/Venture Agent is pretty experienced, so we'll see how my group takes it.
Seebonickk Core character

I think most of the GMs around me are going to keep running PF1. I'm glad the PF2 playtest book is being reworked. There was a bit of 4e in it that I wasn't happy about. I hope they simplified things a bit.
| GM Rinaldo |
I scrolled through the posts on Twitter with the #MyPathfinderSpoiler hashtag, and saw several things that make me hopeful - the thing I liked least in the playtest was how skills work, and it seems like there may have been some changes that will help.
Diving into work now, I hope to post this afternoon if things go well. ;-)
