Gray Son feels a little more lithe.
If you don't identify the properties, I'll let you know when it comes up.
Knowledge (arcana) to identify the school, DC 21:
-----
Spellcraft to identify the properties of the water, DC 27:
Melea Shemroe |
Preoccupied, Melea hurries over. She starts another quick scan of the water. "It seemed like protective magic, but I'm not sure that was wise. What's done is done now, though, something may come of it."
I think I already did all the checks I could regarding the water, but just for the sake of it I'll try Detect Poison.
Toral Kargar |
”I will definitely not drink from this water!“
He looks confused.
”I have to admit that I do not believe that we will be able to fight this giant construct! So it might be wise to look at what we have and try to understand what we are facing on the other side!!!“
Haro はろ |
Haro looks at the water and listens to Toral, using long and difficult words. Haro is only able to understand several of these words, but in doing so, he completely misunderstands Toral's proclamation. "You drink, I drink." he says as he pulls out a small sake cup and drinks some of it.
Haro はろ |
Haro smacks his lips and jumps a little into the air. "うまい水." pausing for a minute and repeats himself in common. "Good Water, taste very." he says.
GM Weenerton |
Waiting for each PC to give me a definitive YES or NO on drinking the water. It is highly relevant later. After that, you can check out the crack in the wall and the remaining rooms that I've labeled for you.
Melea Shemroe |
Her caution assuaged, Melea follows suit. "Hard to be too careful. But hopefully it helps." Galilah also takes a few curious laps.
GM Weenerton |
Melea and Gahilah too fee more able to slip tight situations.
Arbiscar |
As his companions seem to be reinforced by the waters, Arbiscar also tries out "Let me drink it before the orc"
"So where now?" Arbiscar points to the doors yet to be open at the east "There perhaps?"
GM Weenerton |
All but Toral have consumed the water, yes? I'll take the first 2 votes for next room to explore.
GM Weenerton |
Where to, folks? Not a good place to me to bot for now. FYI, Gray Son will no longer be adventuring with us.
Haro はろ |
Haro wonders over to the crack in the wall and sees if he can move through it to see what’s beyond.
GM Weenerton |
Haro peeks through the crack and sees two other disks, like the one they recovered from Arletta. One shines a bright light as per the Daylight spell and the other sparkles like that of Farie Fire. The gap is not wide enough for a medium humanoid to pass through.
With a whoosh, Haro sees an immense figure flash by the crack and bend down to peek an eye through and set its sights on Haro.
Haro, will save please.
Haro はろ |
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Haro blinks as daylight washes over his face. He backs up a little and says. "Very sunny, much sun."
GM Weenerton |
Just a clarification from earlier. Arbiscar asked Arletta for her disc and she handed it over. I had not addressed the request.
Haro はろ |
Blinking his eyes, he seems a little confused.
Haro はろ |
Speaking up after his eyes have readjusted to the light. "Something head, noise. Put plate into cracker." he pauses for a moment, "Crackers go on plate?"
Toral Kargar |
”What, you received a telepathic message?! From what?“ Toral asks.
Melea Shemroe |
I'm not sure if others saw it and are able to make that check.
"Don't listen to it!" Melea starts suddenly. "That voice, it may have come from a fiend that just went by. A manipulative demon, the Xacarba. It could be trying to make us work towards its vile ends."
I'll try for a Detect Evil.
GM Weenerton |
Melea, do you approach the crack to get a look?
Melea Shemroe |
Yeah, I will. Makes sense to do with others. Off for the night, though.
Toral Kargar |
"Are you completely out of business in your brains? Do you think I will look into this thing and let somebody send voices in my head! No!" Toral says as cautious as ever.
Haro はろ |
Haro feels something, ”Give cracker plate.”
Grab: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
GM Weenerton |
Melea detects a great evil beyond the wall.
You may ask 3 questions for your monster lore roll.
Arbiscar |
"What was that thing?" Arbiscar looks at Haro then at the crack "I don't like it. I will not put the disk there! We know nothing yet"
The dwarf points again to the eastern doors as a place where to continue their search.
Melea Shemroe |
I'll go with its Spell-Like Abilities, Special Abilities, and Special Attacks. Assuming success on the save, but I'll hold off on posting as such.
You won't so easily corrupt one of Old Deadeye's flock, Melea thinks. But she doesn't move, not yet certain if the voice will hear, or if it has affected her.
GM Weenerton |
Melea is able to shake off any hold on his mind.
Special Attacks poison, constrict (2d6+9), redirect spell
Spell-Like Abilities (CL 18th; concentration +25)
Constant—arcane sight, detect good, true seeing

Melea Shemroe |
"Haro has been taken by the xacarba, to some degree," Melea says. "It just tried the same on me." Without warning, she tries to touch Haro.
Casting Protection from Evil on Haro to give him another save. If he's been made unwilling:
Touch Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Haro はろ |
will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Feeling pressure on his head, Haro can’t break free from the compulsion. He will attemp to grab the disk again.
grab: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 he fails to grab it again.
GM Weenerton |
She looks you over, then seems to reach a decision. "There's some sort of creature here, inside that central chamber. I think it's trapped there. It has everyone under it's sway, and it's convinced them that it's some sort of protector, calling itself the 'Starwatcher Spirit'. It had ahold of me, too, until bumped into that sphere up there." She points to the faintly glowing ivory sphere on the raised platform. "That broke whatever hold it was, so I could see the truth!"
Toral Kargar |
Toral goes into total defense.
”Someone stop this fox!!“
Arbiscar |
"You stop Haro!" Arbiscar fights back the fox, trying to avoid its grasp. Something sparks in his mind "Let's go back first and ask Arletta permission for you to pick up the disk"
The dwarf has confidence once there, the group can make Haro to touch the sphere.
GM Weenerton |
Let's hand wave the trek back to the orb as you know where to go and Haro would easily follow the disc anywhere.
You convince Haro to brush up against the orb and he is immediately filled with a sense of ordered clarity, as if all chaos had been removed from your thoughts.
Contact with the powder covering this orb subjects the toucher to the effects of a CL 11 dispel chaos spell.
Contact with the powder covering this orb subjects the toucher to the effects of a CL 11 dispel chaos spell.
Where to next?
Haro はろ |
Haro rubs his head, ”頭が痛く” he looks to Arbiscar and bows. ”Very sorry. Voice wanted crackers on plate. Me not help.”
Toral Kargar |
Toral sighs.
”No worries... this fiend is extraordinary powerful!!“
Toral opens the doors to area A.
GM Weenerton |
The party moves down the hall toward the next door which, like all the others in this temple, is made of heavy stone and sized for a giant. On the far side of the wide hall is an ominous-looking crack in the wall.
The walls within the next room feature mosaics of a stylized cyclops wearing an ornate one-eyed mask and commanding other cyclopes. In the carving, the cyclops places the mask upon other cyclopes to reverse several aliments, including blindness and even death. A large slab in the northwestern corner holds only dust, but a smaller shelf above it bears a one-eyed mask.
The mask has a familiar magical aura, even if it’s form is unusual. This is a lesser veil of fleeting glances. It functions as a veil of fleeting glances, except that it does not grant the +4 circumstance bonus on certain saving throws.
There is an additional lingering magical essence, however, one that gives a feeling of restoration and healing. This lingering magic seems old and frail, however, and there’s no telling how many times it will work. You think that, were it placed on someone who had been blinded or petrified within this temple, the mask may be able to remove those conditions. The user will have to make a Will save, however, or risk burning out the item.
Toral Kargar |
”Very interesting!! Might come handy!!“
I assume this was all we can find.
Toral opens the next door.
GM Weenerton |
This wide room has two alcoves to the west and east. The western alcove bears mosaics of a burly cyclops with a flail and shield. In one image, a human with a conical hat hands the cyclops the flail; in each other image, the large cyclops is smashing fiends or serpent-headed humanoids with it. A large slab in this alcove is empty, but a shelf above it contains a fine-looking heavy flail and a steel shield. The smaller alcove to the east contains two slabs; above them are depictions of a pair of cyclopes servants tending to the burly cyclops’s needs.
Two serpents in the room turn and hiss at you for intruding on their peace.
For every 5 by which you beat the DC you may ask another question.
