Riltar Nobettween |
No party face? ok...
"My name is Riltar good Sir! are you in need of assistance?" says Riltar, extending his wineskin and a piece of cornbread.
Elvira Temnayakrov |
Now that he finally speaks, Elvira tries again, albeit with a little less cheer in her voice. "Hello there! My name is Elvira and we are a group of Pathfinders who have come to search these caverns for Gillmen!" she explains. "What are you doing here?"
________
Sorry, I thought he was addressing Tyrwaz!
Tyrwaz Vanirson |
"hello good person... we come in peace... can you tell us anything about this place and why you find it so special?" Tyrwaz asks the gillman..
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
and the paladin must have said something in poor form when he speaks.
GM Z..D.. |
"Well young lady you have found one. I am Uori. I have come here to listen to the waters. Us Gilman see this as a holy place as like humans did a while ago" He then notices Soterastis splashing around in the waters. "He seems to be attempting to do a ritual of the old days."
Soterastis make me a CMB check to grapple.
Elvira Temnayakrov |
"Fascinating..." Elvira mutters as she takes in what Uori has said. "Is there anything special about a full moon? Another of our companions noted that she had seen Gillmen arrive only during the full moon. Oh! Are there more of you around here? Is there anything of note deeper within?" she asks. Maybe there are even more of them? A lost community, perhaps?
GM Z..D.. |
"Well you see, this is a tide pool. When the moon is high and full, the tide is high enough to fill the pool. At this time we come her and meditate in its water. Once the tide recedes, we leave and head back home" He then thinks on her other question before continueing on. "There was some more of us that have came here, but some of them have not come back in a while. And I am sure there are others that call this place home. Rumor is that there is a necromancer about, but I never investigated."
Soterastis manages to catch a frog.
Elvira Temnayakrov |
Well that is intriguing, we should take a look around then. Perhaps another of the faithful are stowed away here. "Oh wow, more Gillmen? We should see if we have any luck finding them!" Elvira suggests to her companions.
~Grimaldi |
Grimaldi moves near Tyrwaz, "I am out of my comfort zone. Is this likely to turn... Wildfire?
Tyrwaz Vanirson |
Turning back to the gillman Tyrwaz speaks slowly for the gillmans benefit and says "A necromancer you say. Interesting. Have you gone further into the cave?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
GM Z..D.. |
"I have no need to. I come, meditate and leave." The gilman says ."But, if you are able to take care of the necromancer, and make it safer for future, we would be in your debt"
Riltar Nobettween |
"Necromancer? where? please Sir, point us in the direction of the bad man and we'll take him out for you!" says Riltar, rubbing his hands in anticipation of burning undead and collecting magical loot.
Talking about magical loot: anyone picked up that cloak in the entrance pit? not sure if our table detected it or not...
Elvira Temnayakrov |
"What are we waiting for? Let's go!" Elvira says, oddly cheerful at the prospect. It has been quite some time since I've spoken with a necromancer! Might even convince them to leave these caves and travel to Karcau. It would be safer there for them than out here.
________
I don't think we did! IIRC, we never looked into the pit as the plank was found quickly and we just crossed.
GM Z..D.. |
Elvira speaks the truth. You all flew by the pit.
I believe they necromancer resides down the eastern tunnels The gilman says pointing lazily down a tunnel.
Tyrwaz Vanirson |
"Well then... unless we see a need to backtrack a bit I suggest we move forward and deal with this abomination." Tyrwaz suggests to the group.
Riltar Nobettween |
"Let's!" says Riltar, fishing the holy water out of Janira's backpack with one hand while keeping the wand of burning hands at the ready with the other.
GM Z..D.. |
1d6 ⇒ 3
The cave’s damp air becomes increasingly stale as the PCs continue down through this tunnel, and as they approach this area, the stench of decay grows increasingly evident. The passage turns to the east and opens into a small cavern littered with bits of broken glass, rotting pieces of paper, and other unusable detritus. The body of a male dhampir lies facedown toward the back of the cavern.
Meandering around in the closed in cave are three zombies.

Pathfinders go
Riltar Nobettween |
Riltar joins Tyrwaz up at the front and readies his wand of burning hands to fill the corridor when all three zombies have arrived.
"Hey Tyrwaz: how about you go on the defensive and let all these wretches fill the corridor? when they're all at the rendez-vous I can then start the zombie roast! he he he!"
Assuming everyone agrees to this plan:
Readied action to activate wand of burning hands: 3d4 ⇒ (4, 4, 1) = 9 fire dmg, Ref Save DC 11 for 1/2.
If people disagree and want to go in the room:
Readied action to throw holy water on first zombie; Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 for 1d6 ⇒ 5 dmg.
Elvira Temnayakrov |
Elvira frowns at the unattended zombies and the Dhampir corpse, but otherwise remains silent on that front. What a shame. Now we are left to clean up his tools. At least I know he was irresponsible, wouldn't have made a great addition then anyways.
"That sounds great to me, let them up Riltar!" she says as she steps to the side. Touching the holy symbol in her pocket and then her eyes, her form briefly distorts before going back to normal. And if things go south, the zombies won't even know I'm here!
________
Hide from Undead on Elvira.
~Grimaldi |
Grimaldi nods closes her eyes and reaches out to the sky and grass, then moves to follow Riltar, not wanting to get in-front of his bombs.
Tyrwaz Vanirson |
Tyrwaz nods to the little man and waits for the magic to run its course while he hefts his sword...
readied action for if a zombie gets close
GM Z..D.. |
The Zombie's mindlessly wander towards the scent of life and fill the hallway. Once the third zombie joins the line, the Magus activates the wand, engulfing the three in fire.

Elvira Temnayakrov |
"Tyrwaz, are you... open to... new experiences?" Elvira asks hesitantly. Because otherwise, I have a feeling that I will become the next thing to be lit on fire...
If he says yes...
She moves up behind him and gently places a finger on his back. His vision spins for the briefest of moments before refocusing. Clearly visible to Tyrwaz is a pair of children just within the grasp of the zombies. "Help us Tyrwaz, you're our only hope!" they cry out helplessly.
If he says anything that isn't a clear affirmative...
"Ok! Carry on then, you're doing great!" she says as she lifts both of her hands up. Ever so faintly, a pair of tiny skeletons weightlessly cling to his sides to adjust his swing.
________
If yes, Vision of Madness on Tyrwaz. If not yes, Guidance on Tyrwaz. Both give +1 to attack rolls, but VoM is for 3 rounds and also gives a -1 to skill checks and saving throws. Tyrwaz, forgive me for telling you what you see, I'm still working out the fluff for the ability and figured saving children would likely make you fight harder (the +1 to attacks), while perhaps being less able to focus on other things (-1 to saves/skills). Lmk if I've overstepped!
Riltar Nobettween |
Riltar activates his wand again!
"Zombie Roast! he he he!"

GM Z..D.. |
reflex: 3d20 ⇒ (3, 9, 3) = 15
The second flourish of flames destroy the zombies. The bodies, which were once gilman, fall to the ground.
Among the fallen bodies, the PCs find a note written by the dhampir that details plans to start an army of undead made from the “fish people” who have been frequenting this cave.
Underneath the body you find a crossbow that radiates magic, a pouch of bolts are attached to the damphir's side.
Inside his robe, you also locate a small pearl that also radiates magic.
Elvira Temnayakrov |
Elvira looks the Dhampir's corpse over intently. How crude. An army? That's hardly discreet. Did he want all of Absalom to know he was here? With a sigh she gets up. "Glad that's over with! Let's go tell our breathing Gillman about what we found!"

"Ah! a secret door over here!! come!"

It did come from a Dhampir, so I am calling the crossbow medium sized.
Going through the tunnel
As you travel travel down this passage, they begin to hear the faint
sounds of combat and a familiar woman’s voice half shouting and half-reciting, “As the legendary Gregaro Voth successfully battled the wild beasts in the deepest reaches of the Mwangi Expanse, so shall I defeat you, foul servant of Lamashtu!”
The route to the surface leads through a maze of tight passages that include steep ascents and short climbs as they wind from west to east. As the PCs travel, they can hear the sounds of a distant battle echoing through the caves.

Riltar shoots the jiggly puff with his oversized crossbow! (think Rocket Racoon with huge gun! :P )

Elvira Temnayakrov |
"Whoa! What is that?" Elvira wonders out loud at the blob.
"Ha! I'm sure you could hit it with a little practice!" She then looks to Soterastis. "Ok 'Noble Pants,' time to shine!" she says while dipping down a nearby offshoot of the tunnel, but not before leaving a pair of tiny weightless skeletons on his back.

Yes, you know if you get too close to it, it can engulf you. It slams attacks do acid damage and can also paralyze you.
Riltar still manages to hit the blob.

GM Z..D.. |
Once two of you agreed, I moved you as a group. So you still get a full action in this combat
