I'll be away on a family holiday starting tomorrow (the 27) and back the 5th -- but given the need to unpack with small child, probably not actually able to be online to catch up and post before the 8th.

IN the meantime, enlarged Borgol will keep with the smashing and will probably Channel Smite each time he makes a primary now that displacement is gone.

When possible, he'll TWF trying to use shield slam to ground the lich (you'd think getting rushed would require a fly check, but no, strangely)

Unless there's a bunch of loot that would let us pester Maddie to make stuff, I think we're probably mostly good with moving on. That said, I would imagine at least a 3 or 4 day rest/celebration is in order.

Not that we didn't need our level 11 to deal with Zutha, but it's a little anticlimactic that a huge accomplishment like that doesn't also get you a level. ;)


Well technically you are supposed to be level 12 now. I figured that you had just leveled up, though, so I was going to wait a couple of encounters at least. But, what the heck. Everybody can level up to 12 now! :D

I'm mid job-hunt and also writing full-time (or close to it) which leaves me creatively drained a lot of the time. So long as I keep on top of things I should be alright, I just get stuck in a feedback loop of "oh I'm so far behind, I don't have time to catch up right now" or I suffer problems.
It's... not ideal, I won't lie, but I do also enjoy this game quite a bit and definitely at least want to try and stay a part of it.

I can confirm that we bought 2 new wands, and had 13 left on the last one -- so we'd have 103 charges at the moment.

I do agree with Flik that some additional - faster - healing would be good. I didn't really consider scrolls of CureCrit. That's not a bad idea (especially given how expensive a wand would be).

Could also look at one or two of Breath of Life -- it's only 1 level above Borgol's caster level -- so he'd be very likely to succeed.

Isn't there some weirdness with action economy around breath of life? I'm all for buying useful scrolls, though. And thanks for remembering about the wands we already bought. I've been in a fog lately.

Don't think so. Breath of Life is basically the 5th level Cure spell -- it's 5d8+CL (up to 25). Casting is still the normal 1 standard action. It really could just be Cure Mortal Wounds (except then we could spontaneously cast it).

The only "weird" might be about its ability to bring someone back to life -- but, there, it needs to be cast within a round of the person getting flattened.

Thanks to Fergus, I realized that I'd not boosted my Wisdom at 12 -- did that, but in doing that overwrote my spell selection. Ugh.

Will fix that.


Flik, the rapier is part of the construct. This weapon cannot be disarmed, sundered, or removed.

You identify the construct as a clockwork assassin. It has evasion and fast healing, as well as DR/adamantine. Like most clockworks, though, it is vulnerable to electricity.

No map for this fight, sorry. But one hound is in the front of the party and the other is in the back, so everybody can cluster around Flik and benefit from the fast healing while still being in melee range to attack the hounds!

This will be the last fight for a while without battle maps, promise! :D


I will be taking the next several days off from work, where I do most of my posting. My posts will be less frequent until next Wednesday, 12/8.

Okay, I've moved the dragon hoarde into the loot tracker, since we sold off and split the last bunch o' stuff.

The ring of force shield would be potentially useful for Maddie - there's no ACP so she can use it without penalty.

Tremor Boots grants Tremorsense -- which is useful against non-flying invisibles, so that might be useful.

Not really sure the rest of the items matter than much.

Maddie's going to be splitting her days into crafting and researching (to be rolled very soon), upgrading her Headband to +4 (Key Skill being Knowledge (nobility)).
It'll take 6,000 gp and require a DC 13 (CL 8th for the headband) spellcraft check, so I'm gonna double speed for +5 DC and still auto-succeed.

Anyway, that will wrap up in 6 days and then Maddie can start crafting stuff for people now that we finally have money.

And, can someone remind me - are we doing the full split and the people who grab things pay the "sell" price to the party? Thanks to the Dragon's Hoarde, we could certainly do that this time.

At the moment (assuming that's what's happening), we all have just under 16,000gp (Fergus will have about half that after 'buying' his weapons) -- which is a fair amount to work with. Especially with a crafter in the party. (Sadly, we don't have an arms/armour crafter)

Ok, based on that -- Maddie, would you have time to craft some Winged Boots for Borgol? Flying creatures have been annoying.

I'll figure out what to spend the other half of the money on, too - though I confess I'm eyeing the unenchanted armour... and maybe the shield (would we have time to commission something from a non-Maddie person?)

Any problems with Borgol finding a +2 Bashing Shield?


No problems at all! You can basically find any items you can afford while in Magnimar.

Ok, when selling stuff, I could afford a +3 bashing, so I went with that. I debated getting a better sword, but anything with a useful property is hideously expensive.

So, I'm good as long as Maddie makes the new boots at cost.

Yes, Fergus took the Heavy Crossbow and the Greataxe and still gets another 7400 to spend.
