Well, technically, I am here :)
The question is if you are ok with the name.
When the new GM of the RoTRL asked how long we were in Sandpoint, I remembered we had a talk about that and looked back for posts...and stumbled upon this.
Basically the only ones from the original group left are Lia and Rojava.
I didn't copy the name 1:1 but figured since you decided Rojava would die, Lia would probably honor her somehow...naming her first-born after her long-time companion seemed...reasonable. If you'd prefer not to go there, I can simply swap out for Kira.
On another note, it's really hard to find young female portraits...I already have most in use for other characters. For now, I'm going with this one. The haircut gives a little Pippi Longstocking Vibe :)

I like the Pipi-Longstocking look! Loved the old TV movies as a kid. I think it works well.
Roya Tani |
Glad to hear it.
Also, she has no Kit purchased.
She does not expect to find adventure - and is used to sleeping in a bed and cooking in a kitchen and all that luxury of a stationary life.
(No drama there, it's exciting to see something new, just saying someone more experienced/responsible may want to remember that she may need a bedroll and stuff before it becomes relevant...)
She does, however, have 3 board games, marbles, dominoes, playing cards and a ball(all high quality) so things will not be boring.

LOL, Auntie Gen is more of a "fun time" Aunt so she might not remember either. Asking Gen to watch your kids is like asking a younger version of Samantha Jones from Sex in the City to watch your kid...
Correna Soulburn |
Just to reiterate and clarify:
As an orphan adopted by a crusader from Lastwall, she was sent here to Roderick's Cove for safety since she was half-orc in blood and the knight wanted her to grow up far from the orc tribe who almost killed her. Correna grew up a loner in the local area having never met her knightly savior, and raised on stories about the recent rediscoveries of Ancient Thassilon. Completely fascinated, she has become a regular to call on any of the locals (or adventurers) who know or find anything of that time and place. She knows the Gravedigger Audrahni, because they speak often about their shared religion. Although Correna's friendship is new and tentative at best with the elf. Know adventuring to be her calling, Correna threw herself in studying the unique blade her step-father sent home with her, and recently found her orc-blood singing magic to her in her dreams, so she also began training in her magical bloodline as soon as she was sure of it. She thinks she may be ready soon to head out adventuring and searching for lost magic, like she has always dreamed, but the farm and her foster grandparents often rely on her and her strong back to keep the farm up and running...so she stays for now and keeps training. Although recently her eyesight has become quite sensitive to daylight so she has become quite a nocturnal sight around town, working and training at night while sleeping during the day.
DM Púca |
Alrighty, starter posts are up for Correna, and Genevieva and Roya. I'll get a post up for Grial once I know what he's in town for.
I've put links to three maps on the campaign page. The first two are a pair of slides on google slides. I was thinking that I could link to them so each one came up separately, but actually both links go to the same pair of slides. If that turns out to be hard to adjust for viewing let me know and I'll separate them into different presentations.
As places are mentioned in gameplay I'll mark their locations by numbers on the Roderic's Cove map. There's a key below with information on each numbered location below the maps on the campaign page. I'll add to it as new places in town become relevant.
As far combat and exploration would you all be up for using Roll20 to do maps? I like using it much more myself.
Roya Tani |
I am fine with Roll20, but the 20-second delay they force on free users sometimes makes me not want to check, or adjust a move, etc...so, just saying. It also seems harder to place spell effects there compared to collaborative tools, but I suppose that would be more relevant for others.
Storyteller Shadow |
I can't use it at work so it will limit me but that's ok if it works for everyone else :-)
Correna Soulburn |
You caught a ship out of Riddleport(Or other northern port), but could only afford fare South for up to Roderic's cove? That would dump you here easily enough!
=)
Grial Storm Shadow |
I think Roderic's Cove was his intended destination. He was sent by his clan to help with something (as part of an old debt he knows nothing about).
I know what Grial is there, I just don't know how long it's been since he arrived.
DM Púca |
@Grial: Shoanti are rare in the area, I'll leave it up to you to decide the nature of the debt. You could also pull from your Pathfinder connection. Maybe they sent to you look for something or to gather information about something?
The amount of time doesn't really matter much. If it's short, say a couple of weeks, you'll be less familiar with the town than if it's a couple of months.
Whatever you decide I'll work it into an opening post for you.
Roya Tani |
Still happily tagging along.
Just figure Roya would keep herself occupied with other stuff, rather than force herself into that adult conversation about boring old stuff. :)
Roya Tani |
Maybe help him out by deciding for him?
If he can't make up his mind on how long he's been here and asked for your input it seems fair to go with an assumption.
He may as well have just arrived.
You know, considering you described Correna as potentially the only half-orc in the town.
If he'd been here for months, we would probably have seen him, not like this is a huge city.
Plus if he came here to get something done, it would make sense to connect that into the plot somehow, rather than assume he was sitting around for weeks doing nothing, waiting.

Roya Tani |
Just want to say, Players Guide are usually free, so you can find it on Paizo, add the PDF to your account, and always access those from there. It's what I did :)
Roya Tani |
@Gen: That's just lazy :P
You didn't even roll.
An acid flask only costs 10 GP, for example - or 1 GP with the reduction. It has utility against swarms, or can potentially be used for other purposes(GM approval needed)
Normal gear, you don't have to go with the Spidersilk-Rope of Dark Elf origin(certainly a rare find) - regular Silk Rope is almost as good and priced at 10 GP as well.
Weapons, there are several you could buy even just as a backup, or for flexibility. Get a Cold Iron Light Mace for just 1 GP - bludgeoning and cold iron to bypass two common DR's.
Potions and Magic Items: Probably not much use for 1 GP currently, but since the offer remains available, those are basically the jackpot- you can't but it now, but come back in a week and that magic item is yours at a huge discount. Or that potion of Cure Moderate Wounds or Invisibility for just 30 GP...

Btw: I feel the "Fun-Aunt Genevieve" would prefer not being called "Aunt" publicly because that makes her feel older than she likes to seem - and probably told Roya so.
That's why I defaulted on calling her "Jenny", as that's the phonetically closest thing I know to shorten "Gen" into a nickname as would be casually used within a family. That just as an explanation, if you'd prefer a different address, do let me know, as I just went with an assumption there that would technically be defined in the background before game-start :)

Sounds good to me :-)

Oh, with the kind of adulting you do as a role model, this will be VERY interesting. Maybe I should reconsider Paladin-hood, or I'll end up paying a lot for Atonement ^_^

Whatever do you mean? Aren't we having fun yet!?
Grial Storm Shadow |
I think Grial is new in town, and came here because of his parents legacy as heroes. A friend requested aid from his father, but his father could not come personally so he sent Grial in his stead.
I'll need your help coming up with who sent the request for help, and why.
DM Púca |
Okay, so I have a few ideas, but a few more questions.
I'm assume the Sihedron Hero you'll be bringing in later in the game is Grial's father? It seems Grial's mother is an orc, so she would be out of bounds to use.
Is the character one you have used in RotRL or Shattered Star? If you're developing the character new, which of the two prior AP's events is he connected to?
How old is Grial? It seems he was born before the "Heroes" stuff of his parents. The events of RotRL happened about 13 years previously (Extended a bit from the AP default, and basically Roya's age plus a couple of years.) The events in Shattered Star occurred about a year or so later.
Grial Storm Shadow |
1) Father, yes.
2) RotRL. That's the one I'm more familiar with personally.
3) Let's say Grial is 20. He was raised by his mother's people until he was a teenager, then went to find his father's people after the events of RotRL.
Roya Tani |
If you are simply going by familiarity, if the events are not relevant, could I request that you swap out to Shattered Star, Grial?
Royas Father, Ran, was from a Shattered Star game that folded, so most of the events there are undefined.
But Royas Mother, Lia, is in an active ROTRL game in the boards run until recently by Shadow(Genevieve) - was taken over by a new GM, and named after DM Pucas character Rojava there(who perished according to the Jade Regent timeline).
All in all, there's quite a few connections drawn and it would be easier to "make up" or assume things if you swap to the more 'unused' storyline of Shattered Star.
With the ROTRL - timeline, I would prefer to stick close to what happened so far or will happen in that game.
Correna Soulburn |
No problem! This is already starting to get really interesting.
=)

Aye. I know I underestimated GM'ing PBP until I did it myself :)
Checking the books, my notes, and adapting to the players takes more time than I have, more often than not.
I learned.
I'll be patient, you update when you can, and all is good.

I know right!
I still can't believe I was juggling 30 at once!
Sometimes I do miss it though :-)
