Henric looks at Hal as if he's lost his mind. "What are you talking about? I'm sure that if they were in trouble, we would have heard something by now."

Sorry, I didn't include Hal because he wasn't up in Initiative, but he was also unaware combat was started. Although that's about to change...

Round 1

Henric and Renae, waiting outside until they can begin advancing with Hal, look at the elf confusedly as he talks about a fight about to happen.

Stryn hearing Kiley's warning moves over and attempts to stab the goblin before he can react. He does so, but only a pinprick.

Oh. That's where Kiley moved.

Kiley circles around behind the sentry. Taking advantage of any confusion her maneuver may have caused, and the probably more significant advantage from Stryn's attack, she rams her sword right into the goblin's back. The goblin immediately collapses, slain by her greatsword.

GM Roll:

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Kiley then hears a growl behind her. Looking over her shoulder, she spies a pair of mangy canines with the same flat nose, beady eyes, and protruding teeth grown grotesquely large.

The three heroes outside hear the sound of fighting.

"No, wait, I think Hal might be-" And just like that Renae heard all familiar ting of approaching battle as the sound of drawn blades and growls began to emit from the cave.

Without missing a beat, the wizard rushed into the cave, hoping that Hal's illumination spell was strong enough to light her way. Moving deeper into the cave she quickly saw the quick handiwork Kiley and Stryn had made of a Goblin sentry only to head even further and see a duo of mean looking goblin dogs.

Seeing that Kiley wasn't in the mix of with the dogs just yet, Renae took the opportunity to conjure a grease spell on where the mutts should.

Move Action: Moving a 30 Ft. into the cave to get into range.
Standard Action: Casting Grease on the two goblin dogs. That's a DC 15 vs Reflex.

The Goblin dogs are actually just out of the dim light of Hal's light spell, so you can't see them to target them. The squares to Kiley's right and above her are the very edge of the dim light, so you can target one of those squares, if you would like.

Erk, that was uncomfortable - feeling your spine drag along raw rock ceiling. Unwholesomely tall as he was, Hal's back touched the cave's roof even hunched over as he was. His posture, alarmingly poor at the best of times, now resembled a bent over reed as he waddled into the goblin-sized cavern. But duty called. It wouldn't do to sit by while the others were savaged by... goblins? He assumed goblins, but the cleric couldn't be sure amid the darkness of the cave and the chaos of the fight. He was fairly sure he heard barking. Did goblins bark? No, he didn't think so. They were just barking mad. Ha ha hah! Ah... Why was no one laughing? The elf was quite pleased with that one. Making puns in one's second language was hard too. Oh right, he hadn't actually said it out loud. He would have to tell the others afterwards. After... what were they doing again? Goblins, right!

Casually twisting his long fingers through an enchantment, Hal weaved the God of the End Times' one promise into his compatriots heads: that while death was certain, how one met it was very much within their power. It was an encouraging thought, in its own way.

Casting plain old Bless to give everyone +1 to attack over the next two minutes. Will hopefully do a bit to mitigate that -4 to attack from the surroundings.

Erratic as he was, Hal shifted the nature of the spell in the last second, changing it from the restorative to the empowering. No, this was not the time to play catch-up. The elf could be described as many things, but he was always proactive.

Might be a dumb play here, but simply giving Kiley another +1 to her attack with Guidance. This dog needs to go down considering the unfolding situation near Henric. Kiley, with Bless that's +2 to counteract the circumstantial -4. Then moving 5 ft. south.

Awhoops, there's a bit of a formatting error hiding that we were up. I was thinking the GM had more to say.

Kiley's eyes go as wide and round as saucers as the second goblin dog leaps at her. For a moment she sees the thing as a hellish ghoul coming to devour her. Her scream as it tears into her shoulder is high and shrill as she narrowly avoids having the thing clamp around her throat. She barely notices Hal's spell over her as she bats the dog off of her, and she takes a moment to study it and reassure herself that is wasn't a ghoul before trying to kill it before it can do the same to her.

Move to study the goblin dog. +1 to attacks and damage.
Attack(Greatsword, Bless, Guidance, Studied target, Squeezing) v. Gobdog: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 1 + 1 + 1 - 4 = 10 Welp, this is about to get bad.

Kiley feels her wounded leg buckle as she begins her attack. She falls to her knee and has to catch herself, leaving herself open for another attack. Her eyes lock with the goblin dog's and she sees its bloody teeth bared as it prepares for another attack.

I'm dead. I'm dead! Momma, Poppa, Ciana, Yasmin, Haley, I guess I'm about to see you soon.

We may need to consider retreating and coming back with some potions of reduce person.

There is, in fact, more. Here it is.

Fortunately, the human is able to dodge out of the way as a wolf attacks him out of the darkness.

The goblin Stryn sees casts a spell on her bow.

Round 3

As the goblin tries to run again, Stryn thrusts his rapier forward, pricking the goblin's back just enough it collapses to the ground.

Well, this wasn't good. Not only were Kiley's straits far more dire than assumed, the elf only now getting a good look at her again, the fire was also engulfing Henric's frying pan with an all-new wolf attacking the man. And to make matters worse Hal was confusing his idioms! What to do, what to do? GM Rolls:

Stabilize: 1d20 + 1 - 3 ⇒ (11) + 1 - 3 = 9 Aw man. That's the second roll tonight I've missed by just one!

Kiley tries to dodge back, but only manages to put herself under the goblin dog as it bears down on her. Her sword falls from her grasp as she tries to find someway of keeping the things teeth from her throat. She manages to keep it from tearing out her windpipe, but with her hands pushing the teeth off to the side to rip into her other shoulder and clavicle, she has no chance of breaking her fall before her head hits a stone with a crack. Kiley fights to hang onto consciousness as she feels her limbs go limp and her body god slack and numb as the shock washes over her. The pain of the bites isn't even that noticeable as she lays on the ground for a single breath drawn out into eternity as she looks up at the rat-like fangs that will be coming for her throat next. Everything goes dark as her head lolls to the side, her heavy lids closing as she slips from consciousness and begins her journey to the Boneyard as she bleeds out.

Stabilize roll doesn't happen until your turn in Initiative, Kiley.

Round 5

Stryn tumbles past the wolf to get on the other side of it with Henric so it had to try and fight on two fronts. Thrusting with the rapier, he pierces its flank. He calls out to the other goblin in his native tongue.

Goblin:

Unsure what Stryn is saying to the other goblin, Henric turns to the wolf and tries to thrust the end of his staff into the canine's face. He smacks the wolf upside the head, and it collapses in a heap.

The echoing sound of someone crashing to the ground made Renae's jump in her crest. Fearing the worse, she casts another sleeping spell, this in the same area that she had cast her grease.

For the record, Hal's light has moved so you can see the goblin dog now.

GM Rolls:

The goblin dog looks sleepy, but shakes it off and snarls.

The goblin with the bow shouts back to Stryn,

She fires an arrow at Stryn.

Oh, the end couldn't come quick enough, Hal thought. Which was quite the ominous thought coming from a cleric of the god of the End Times. But he couldn't help himself; the elf was kicking himself for not healing Kiley when he had the chance. Acknowledging one's mortality and coming to peace with death was all well and good. It was the gospel he had dedicated himself too. But being eaten alive by a disease-ridden and really stupendously ugly mutt inside a dank cave? Not so great.

With this in mind Hal hurried forward as quickly as the surroundings allowed, lanky form scurrying across the cave floor. Upon reaching the prone tiefling, so near the beast he could smell its rank breath, he turned his back to it and half pulled, half pushed her away from the dog, getting her out of immediate danger. It was critical for the cleric that she not die here. Kiley was brave, but he wasn't convinced that was a journey she was ready for yet.

Blah. Okay, this one requires some GM fiat, but I'm essentially doing a reposition combat maneuver, taking a move action to move up and a standard to push Kiley down with Hal taking her spot. Healing Kiley with her right next to the darn dog would just result in it immediately taking her out again, especially with her coming to prone. I'll take a hit, then heal Kiley in the next round. Entirely up to the GM whether Hal provokes an AoO doing this.

Of course I wanted you to roll again - it gave you a second chance to stabilize.

Hal, I'm going to say that your action does not provoke an AoO. You aren't doing the reposition combat maneuver on the goblin dog, you're doing it on Kiley. I will, however, make you flat-footed against the next attack you face, as you need time to set your feet.

This one dog, I swear.

Fort save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

The mangy mutt bit into the cleric's side, a transaction of teeth and flesh that left neither party pleased. For his part, Hal did not find being eaten alive very agreeable. And the dog was sorely disappointed at the stringy bit of meat it had clamped its jaws around; there were stick insects out in the world with more meat on their bones than the elf.

Concentration check against DC 16: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Undeterred by the canine, however, the cleric laid a hand onto the unconscious Kiley and focused solely on his magic. He did not say a prayer because he knew Groetus wasn't listening. Instead he siphoned off his divinity, pulling it through the multiverse to send it cascading into the tiefling as a curative light.
