I've sort of imagined that we learn each other as we fight. Starting out as the big warrior-y guy, and gaining knowledge as we observe it. The next time you see him you'll know how rage works, and any feats you've seen used, but that's just an assumption.
I'm curious if we're going to know our opponents before the fight starts in terms of picking spells and what not. I could easily see picking vastly different spells for different fights as I level up depending on who I'm fighting. That's actually more important early in the tournament when spell slots will be scarce I suppose.
PF rulesset actually has rules for this inside the knowledge skill set.
Essentially, if you are of the same class you know anything of that class up to your class level (makes sense). If you are not of the same class then knowledge checks are involved...
Look in Knowledge under Recall Intrigues
You make a knowledge check of a certain type depending on the class with a dc equal to 10+ class level where ability is gained.
SO for example, to know about barbarian rage you would need a Know Local Check DC 11.
Like with spell craft, this ability only comes into play once you have seen the visual effect of that class ability...so right now all you would know is "that is a big guy with an axe...probably stay away from the axe."
