A medium-sized bear would be too powerful for a level 1 druid. He'll grow up around level 5, though.

All jokes aside, I'm rather frustrated not to be able to use Horn for anything... And I've wasted a Magic Fang spell on top of that :(

yeah, I apologize for a rather frustrating encounter here. this encounter is almost always at least a little frustrating because of the flying enemies and color sprays. this particular party is having an exceptionally rough go of it with a lack of ranged-focused characters and some bad dice rolls.
It's all good - that's what makes adventure paths challenging - they're not tailored to our strengths, and we have to be ingenious in how we respond to difficult fights like this. Soon as Glim gets back up, he's going to hurl a bomb - or encourage a retreat!
Too bad Honsul is no longer with us, he had ranged attacks! :(
But I agree with Glim, even if we have to retreat now, we'll be better prepared next time! :)
Ya I am certainly wishing I had a ranged attack spell or arcanist ability... :) Oh well, the struggle of level 1 is real!

for the current question, unfortunately a 1 on the die is always a miss, even with true strike... just bad luck all around in this fight.

Got some news from Glim! He's well, but still extremely busy, so he doesn't feel like he would have the time to come back to the game right now. He'll definitely keep us updated once he gets a breather :)
Also, sorry for asking, but were the guys around the campfire threatening Garran or not? I thought they were intimidating him while low-key threatening to steal his armor… With Sigrun's post, I'm fearing I might have gotten the wrong interpretation and reacted too quickly.

they were definitely being threatening enough to warrant a fight, and the party should assume these are probably some of the bandits they have been hunting for days now.

On August, 14th, I'll cross the Atlantic and move to Indiana to spent a year studying abroad! It's the first I'm doing anything like this, and I expect that it may take some time to settle down properly. I just wanted to let you know that it might affect my posting in the days to come, but I expect that everything will be back to normal at the end of the week.

With my size I have a decent stealth roll. Possibly the best so I don't mind taking a look, even though I don't want to be up there by my unprotected self :p.
I was thinking of luring the guard to the outhouse (?) with some animal noises from my cantrip. Could ambush him there before he warns the others.
Just now would be a great time for Glim to chuck a bomb.
what are y'alls thoughts on Glim? he hasn't been around since June, but apparently was still interested in trying once things calmed down. it is hard to bot an alchemist, because they are a decently complex class.
options:
move Glim's character to the background and continue as a party of 4, letting Glim rejoin if he shows up again eventually.
kill or retire glim narratively, replacing him with a new PC
keep botting him for a while longer ot see if he comes back?
if we go with option 3, i will be passing the botting responsibility to the party to decide Glim's actions rather than me doing that work.
I've tried to reach him via PM a couple days ago just to catch up, but he has not answered.
We could retire him narratively, so there's still a spot for him if he comes back?
