Welcome everybody! I'm really looking forward to this campaign. A few things before we get started.

Prologue: As you'll see in a few minutes, I'm going to put up a few posts that will serve as a prologue of sorts for the campaign, one for each of you. These should be read more as player knowledge than character knowledge (though some are clearly from the characters' perspective, so obviously the character is aware of those). And everyone can read all of these - they're just meant to be a little taste of what's to come!

Bot Me! Section in Profile: I’d certainly rather not bot characters, but when it’s necessary, it’s very helpful to have a general idea of how you’d like your character played. Please use the below template to include a “Bot Me!” section in your character’s profile.

Here is where you include pertinent details needed to bot your character. Include dice expressions for your main attacks as well as tactics and any overriding philosophies that might guide your actions.

Cup’s a helpful soul. She’ll run her unseen servant and dancing lights to help the party explore, or run skill checks to help with anything that looks odd or out of place.

If combat breaks out, she’ll inspire courage in the first round and try to identify monsters.
In the second round, she’ll whip bad guys if she can to give a +4 aid another to one of the melee folks. She may also go around hitting people with CLW wands if they get hurt.

Seven PCs: I know I initially said I would choose five PCs and ended up going with seven. I wanted to explain a bit why I chose to do this. First, there were SO MANY great submissions that it was really difficult to narrow it down. Second, I know how games on these boards go - we're likely to lose a player or two here or there. This saves us from having to re-recruit anytime soon. Third, with our use of Automatic Bonus Progression, this allows me to not have to adjust the wealth in the adventure too much, since you'll now have to split it among seven PCs. So, I really think this will work out well for us - and don't worry, I'll be sure to add extra enemies for so that combats aren't too easy!

Introductions!: I would love for everyone to introduce themselves - I'll start. I'm Eric, a 29-year-old who lives in New York City and works in education. I've been playing and GMing Pathfinder for about 7 years, and I currently run two home games and a few other games on the boards here. I've been wanting to run this AP for a long time, so I'm really excited to finally get that chance.

I've played Pathfinder on Paizo when I was in highschool (so five years ago), and I had to stop for a few years because life became a bit hectic. Since I got into uni things have considerably calmed down, and I'm slowly getting back to it. (I'm still probably a less experienced player than you all, sorry if I make a few mistakes ^^")

I've had my eyes on Reign of Winter since I first read about the campagin, and I'm very eager to play it and have fun! :)

I'm Andrew, I'm 24 years old, I live in California, and I'm currently unemployed (for reasons I'd rather not get into here). I did computer science and game design in school, and I've been playing PF on-and-off for about 3 years, mostly online both here at Paizo forums and at Giant in the Playground.

This will be my first game on paizo and really my first PbP with strangers. I normally use myth weavers with my buddies. We still get together and game every other weekend.

My name is Ben, I live in Arizona. I started playing pbp back in the 3.5 days, on the WotC site. Uh, right. I'm 51 years old. I have a background in construction work, and currently work for a utility company.
Though I live in Arizona, there was snow in my backyard, just last monday. Around 3 inches. Approximately 75 mm for those that prefer metric. It melted off quick, but they say more is on the way.

My name is Grant. I'm 25 years old and I am an elementary school teacher in Baltimore, Maryland.

I have been playing in a IRL Rise of the Runelords campaign for about a year and a half, and I was playing in a PBP game on discord that recently imploded. This is my first PBP on the Paizo forums, so if I do not format things correctly (like the tagline code) or break a norm/ make a faux pa please let me know!

I am also currently out of the country on vacation with my mom until Friday. I do not have super reliable internet access but I will try to stay updated. I apologize in advance!

Hah, it, uh, snowed here once! We probably have a similar climate to southern Taldor in northern California; the highest mountains have a light dusting of snow right now, but that's the closest we'll get to Reign of Winter here :)

Sadly our snow won't be gone for a while. But we certainly appreciate spring when it finally shows up!

Honestly, however you think works best - if you want to make a separate alias, you can, or if you want to just describe their actions through your character's posts, that's fine too. I'm not picky.

Shalm - I’ll make a separate alias for Gritil, but only use it when we are in combat (since Gritil’s stars will be more relevant then). When not in combat I’ll kept their posts under Honsul’s alias.

It’s snowing 6-8 inches in Baltimore today too... however, I’m in Cabo at the beach and it is certainly NOT snowing :)

It's unusually warm and sunny in Paris -though with climate change, I'm not sure it's good news.

Miami has been having gorgeous winter weather - usually in the low seventies, though today it suddenly felt like summer arrived.

Here in the untamed swamps of North Florida it was 90 degrees on Monday, 60 yesterday, and back in the 80's today...

Paldo is a Golarion climate change denier. :)

If the weather is nice, the only thing to do is enjoy it. Don't get me wrong, I worry about global warming too. Often we have unseasonably warm weather here. Not this year, but pretty often February has really pleasant days. Around here, dry, warm winter means a bad fire season, if nothing else. I just try to put the worries away and just enjoy that it's a really pleasant day.
Which it wasn't for me. Snow, on and off all day long. Not to complain, the moisture is needed.

I would like to get a sense of where everyone is starting, so Garran, do you think you can do an intro post as well before we move forward?

Hey! I just wanted to clarify that In-Character Honsul easily loses track of the distinction between himself and Gritil and other people’s perception of the two of them. So in this scene, with Gritil inside Honsul’s mind, he’s still referring to them both as if Gritil was still standing in the room.

I say all of this to say - please feel free to have your characters (or you! haha) be confused about Honsul and Gritil or who/what Honsul is talking about. Neither character is particularly intelligent or wise, and I’m trying to convey that! Obviously, feel free to respond or not respond to that in character as your character would :)

I just wanted to put this out here so it can be read as an intentional mistake on Honsul part and not an accidental mistake on my part!

Honestly, I love how weird our group is, and how Heldren appears to be completely unfazed by it.

"So this is the guy with a odd mark on his forehead. Sometimes it summons the ghost of his dead twin, long story, don't ask. This is the dude who throws fireballs with his bare hands- please don't piss him off. This bloke -well, we don't know exactly what he does, but it involves Koi Beetles for some reasons. Do you know what Koi Beetles are? Yeah, me neither. There's a newcomer who sometimes grows claws, also her hair is alive, but mostly she just wants cookies. The other two carry huge swords in the middle of the street, so nothing abnormal, you know? Did I mention we've got a pet bear?"

Garran buys 1 alchemist's fire, and sells his hemp rope. To save time in character creation, I had bought a barbarian's kit. That rope was part of it. Needs to go to cut weight.

So, who wants Yuln's sword? Garran can use it, but can get by without it. One of us should certainly take it.

The winter witches will, of course, keep the cake nice and frosty, so that it won't melt before it's time to eat it, and not do anything else questionable. Happy birthday!

I'm already pretty much weaponed out, can't carry much else. That said, I don't have anything cold iron (totally forgot...).

I don't have any cold iron weapon either -but I don't know if selling my scimitar to buy a cold-iron sickle would be a good investment...

I traded my martial weapon proficiency for natural weapons, so Halleva can't make use of the sword. She'll pick up a cold-iron sickle just to have something cold iron, though.

I should have made it more clear - there aren't any cold iron weapons available in town besides the magical sling bullets and Yuln's sword.

Garran, seems you're the only one who can wield the sword!

Not sure it makes you the legitimate king of England though.

Hey companions!

This is my first game in the Paizo forums, and I was wondering if there was anyway to “turn notifications on” for posts on this forum. In my personal life, I am definitely on the Chaotic spectrum and I haven’t established a set routine of checking the forum. I was thinking if I got some sort of notification then it would be easier for me, but I haven’t been able to find an option like that yet. Any suggestions?

Normally, you have a notification system on Paizo. If you check the "Campaign" section of your profile, you'll be able to see when your campaigns have been updated. The only problem is that you still have to check your profile regularly.

If you're talking about notifications on a Smartphone, then I have no idea :/ But maybe others know?

I use the IFTTT app to give me notifications for all of my games. I think the directions here are pretty helpful.

I'm kinda familiar with IFTTT, so I'll check that out! Thank you both for the suggestions!

Sounds like a normal day in Heldren

I keep track of loot for my IRL party and can do so for this group as well. I just use a google doc sheet with a table - it’s pretty basic but gets the job done.

I can share it here with everyone and give permissions so others can edit it. Does that sound good?
