Marcus Stanic |
Just noticed, but magic missile does 1d4+1 for each one, so damage should have been 3 higher
"Why won't you die!?!"
and the lashings continue until Marcus' morale improves

Von-Dai Cress |
Oh, shoot, I did forget the +1 for each missile.
Von-Dai desperately imbues his staff with magic and flings it towards the sinspawn.

Marcus lashes out and opens the creature's throat a hiss of air muffled by the gurgle of blood are the last noises the create makes. Looking at the downed cleric the creature dies with a smile on its face.
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
Zeltyieli only took 23 (bite and second claw), but had 28 after his last CSW.
Zeltiyeli steps back and sighs, "All this blood is staining my gear... Worse, most of it is mine."
Trying to find the details on the party's healing wand and coming up blank -- I'd rather not exhaust all my spells to keep moving.
Von-Dai Cress |
I don't think we have one - do we?
Von-Dai says, "If we need to find a defensible place to hole up for a while, we can do that."
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
I thought we'd planned to get one before heading out. I might be wrong. It's certainly possible we couldn't scrape up the 750.
Zeltyieli shakes his head, "I've enough magic to heal the wounds... though I won't have much left afterward... and, as I recall, we're still in a race."
GM_Grandlounge |
We can say you bought one. That is not a problem. Spend the 750 out the party funds. If it turns out you have two, you will use them eventually. Are you resting?
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
I don't think so. A few stick-jabs and onward -- unless Von-Dai's running out of juice.
Von-Dai Cress |
I'm out of non-cantrip direct damage spells, but I've still got some pits, grease, buffs, and a burning disarm if we find someone holding a weapon and we have some distance between us and our attackers.
GM_Grandlounge |
If you are moving onwards, move yourselves and tell me the plan.
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
Still have a spiritual weapon and sound burst, as well as a few others -- but if we're running low, maybe we should rest and recover.
Von-Dai Cress |
Let's press on, I still have lots of battlefield control and buffs.
Before they move on, Von-Dai casts a spell, enhancing Marcus's strength.
Bull's Strength on Marcus
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
Sounds good.
Von-Dai Cress |
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23 +4 if this is to spot statue-like creatures
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
Zeltyieli gestures, "There's a door hidden in the wall there. Shall I take a moment to look through it?"
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
Zeltyieli nods and approaches the door, laying his hands on it and calling upon the Walker to show him - and his party - what lies beyond.
Door Sight -- see what's on the other side as if using clairvoyance, as long as the wall is less than 11 inches thick.
Von-Dai Cress |
Von-Dai looks for traps while Zeltyieli looks on the other side.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
GM_Grandlounge |
Von you don't see anything. Zel, the floor of this octagonal antechamber is decorated with a colourful mosaic depicting hundreds of interwoven, multicoloured serpents intermingled with disembodied human arms. An iron-bound oaken door sits in the west wall.
Perception Zel: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
You also see the ripple of an intense magical alarm that will go off in anyone in the room can be seen (acting like a visual sensor).
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
Zeltyieli says, "There's a magical alarm in there. Looks like a sight-sensor. Suggests there's something else interesting in there -- but I don't know how we'd bypass it."
Von-Dai Cress |
"Zel, do you have a spell that will allow you to remove an existing enchantment? It isn't an option for me right now, but we might be able to open the door and then you could dispel the sensor. If not, I might have an idea."
Does Zel have Dispel Magic prepared?
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
Zeltyieli shakes his head, "I had to use the magic I'd prepared to keep myself alive earlier."
Von-Dai Cress |
"Alright. Here's my idea. If the sensor relies on sight, it stands to reason that if all it sees is an empty room, whoever or whatever is monitoring it won't notice us." Von-Dai pulls out the Shard of Pride. "We open the door, then I use this to create an illusion of the room as though nothing has changed. We enter under the cover of the illusion, and hopefully the entity monitoring the sensor is none the wiser."
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
Zeltyieli nods, "Seems worth trying."
GM_Grandlounge |
You open the door on edge the alarm with go off. No noise. Von cast his spell. Still no noise. You carefully step into the room. No alarm sounds. You make your way across the room to another door.
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
Zeltyieli smiles, Wow, that seems to have worked, but says nothing in case the sound triggers the alarm.
Von-Dai Cress |
Von gestures to Zeltyieli, indicating he should place his hands on the door to check the other side.
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
Zetyieli nods, and places his hands on the door, whispering to the Walker to allow him to see beyond it.
GM_Grandlounge |
Zel, you see a broad central column of stone that fills the center of this octagonal chamber. A flight of stairs coils up around this column, passing through an opening in the ceiling thirty feet above. Several doors lie in the chamber’s walls. The room itself features a large amount of ancient and archaic but no less frightful-looking torture implements. Inside is one Greymaden pouring over maps and other documents.
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
Zeltyieli watches the room, then nods and releases the wall, watching it turn opaque once more. He points at a grey stripe on his clothing before miming himself as a woman -- repeating the sequence three times before looking for any recognition from his colleagues, and then holding up a single finger.
Von-Dai Cress |
Von thinks a moment, then nods in understanding. There's a grey woman in the next room, but only one. They could hopefully take her before she could sound an alarm or summon others. He wondered what made her skin grey.
I could resist the slight misunderstanding. It made me giggle inside.
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
Zeltyieli pauses, then points at Marcus' weapon, then nods.
GM_Grandlounge |
You burst into the room you see a woman in familial regalia, that of the Grey Maidens, (sorry for the confusion, or great bit depending on how it arose. I think the confusion is funny). After a moment of surprise the women address you. "Exploring what was left behind by the Runelord, I have it? Have you seen my sisters?"
Von-Dai Cress |
"Oh, you meant she was a Grey Maiden, not a that her skin was grey. Sorry, total misunderstanding. Marcus, what do you mean to their regret? They let us pass them without a fight."
Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Zeltyieli Alikathesu |
Zeltyieli shakes his head, then laughs, "What they're trying to say, I think, is that we come in peace, but will swiftly deal with situations where that's not possible," he offers cheerily.
GM_Grandlounge |
Zeltiyeli: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Grey Maiden: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
The woman, with seeming intent and maybe a slight fear of wizards, focuses on Von first.

Zeltyeli quickly casts a spell, causing a battleaxe of force to appear and attack the maiden.
Spiritual Weapon: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 for 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Marcus Stanic |
Ok, I guess we attack? Nobody is bold.
He will move up 5' and start with the whip.
