Niza, remembering the flooded basement, cringes and mutters under her breath. While running, she turns into the boggard again, ready to swim in the murky, basement full of barrels. "Here we go again..."

Swim + Boggard Bonus: 1d20 + 2 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 2 + 8 = 25

The Concordance

Male CN Half-Orc Sorcerer 7 | HP: 37/37 | AC: 20 16 (15 Tch, 17 13 Fl) | CMD: 16 (13 Fl) | F: +5, R: +6, W: +8 | Init: +8 | Perc: +1, SM +1 | Speed 30 ft | Active conditions: mage armor

Kasvot, moving quicker than he can think, seems to be having great success from simple bravado, as none of the challenges of this rapid escape even approach his strong points. I.e. holy crap have I been getting good--and lucky--die rolls. He jumps into the water and holds his breath dearly as he blunders his way along the bottom of the flooded basement, avoiding the floating barrels entirely.

Dimple dives into the water behind Kasvot. She grabs on to the back of his shirt. Surely after saving his life he won't mind giving me a ride across the water.

CON: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

I wish I had access to my chronicle sheets right now. I feel like there was a 'check the box to use NPC skill' for Nixa (but I could be totally wrong).

Ha! what is the consequence for failing that check?

DEATH!

Naw, just joking. It's 1d3 damage like all the others. If you want to visualize it, you just go up for air early and whack your head and then move on.

I looked over Niza's profile which should have all the boons and I didn't see anything like that Dimple.

I'll get an update to the next stage this evening. Hopefully we can tear on through all this skill stuff and get chronicles out tomorrow.

I may be thinking of Dragon's Demand. Pretty certain at least one AP had that.

Yeah sounds like the kobold boon from dragons demand

Earlier

Vie summons up a small floating disk and the group rallies together to take a few seconds to save historical and damning documents from the collapsing house. The disk bobs along calmly as Vie sprints to keep up with the group.

Now

Fromagalli, Kasvot & Dimples easily hold their breath as they duck under barrels and make it to the stairs safely. Vie tries to follow, but feels the leech's claws closing on his leg and looses his breath. Frantically bursting to the surface he knocks his head on a barrel before being able to slosh over to the stairs. The leech remains in the water, dead. It must have brushed up against the skittish elf.

Vie Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2

Niza and Liet-Gar chuckle at the display and then deftly swim through the water, pacing each other with strong strokes of medium sized arms. Beads of water roll off the former gnome's new form as she clambers up and out.

But look out for danger ahead! The precarious stairs leading out of the basement are falling apart, OH NO!!!

Climb to scramble up quickly, Perception to avoid unsupported boards.

Kasvot's incredible luck--or his drive towards self-preservation--finally fails him at the stairs as he looks for sure footing but never quite seems to find it.

LGZ Climb: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Niza Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

Dimple and Vie easily make their way up the steps, avoiding any sketchy looking boards. Kasvot moves a bit quicker and steps onto a rotting one, foot going through. But he catches himself while he falls... with his face.

Kasvot Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2

Fromagalli and Niza easily follow after, avoiding the rotten board and making it up safely. Liet-Gar tries to climb up the side and skip the steps. He makes it all the way to the top and then whacks his head hard against the ceiling. Head throbbing, he slips over the rail and out.

LGZ Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2

A screeching horde of squeals greet the group as they emerge into the kitchen and seek the exit. A stream of frenzied rats blocks the way out!

Knowledge Nature or Handle Animal can herd the rats to the side, granting a safe path. Or you could just wade through and trust your tough body to handle all the diseased nips you would get with a Fortitude Save.

Vie gives a screeching blast on his whistle while stamping his feet and Cuddles hisses, chirps, and chitters at the rats.
I don't really know, but I would think rats would naturally be afraid of weasels.

Dimple throws one of her flasks at the largest gathering of the vermin. "Oh Pish!" She is more than a bit deflated when it does not scare them all away. Covering here eyes with her arms, the gnome runs forward. "AHHH! So gross. Ick, ick ick! Shoo, go away!"

Taking a round to 'prep' by tossing the flask at the swarm.

I would have allowed the flask to grant a +2 to any PC that needed it, but no one failed their checks so...

Between the concerted effort to carefully herd the rabid and diseased animals back into the collapsing house and Dimple's flask toss to seal off their exit route, the group of pathfinders ensures their escape while preventing any of the gross rats from getting out.

ALL THE RATS DIE NOW BECAUSE OF DIMPLE.

Making it clear and safely out of the collapsing house, the group turns to watch as walls crumble, windows shatter and the roof collapses. The shrill shrieks of thousands of rats dying slowly fades to quiet as darkness settles back in around the group.

The only thing left to do is report their findings and collect their gold.

________________________________________________________________

A long tired walk later, they return to Saringallow.

Back in Saringallow, Mayor Trinelli congratulates the group for their bravery and resourcefulness and pays them one hundred gold for the records, as agreed. When the mayor issues a report about the findings, people start lining up in front the town hall, curious to know what happened to their kin so long ago. To underscore the meaningfulness of the their actions, the mayor encourages the pathfinders to meet with the grateful people whose families are mentioned in the records. Many tearful townspeople also seek out the group to meet and thank them, and though it will take a long time for the damage to fully heal, a grim chapter in Saringallow’s history is nearer to coming to a close.

Adventure Concluded

The Concordance

Male CN Half-Orc Sorcerer 7 | HP: 37/37 | AC: 20 16 (15 Tch, 17 13 Fl) | CMD: 16 (13 Fl) | F: +5, R: +6, W: +8 | Init: +8 | Perc: +1, SM +1 | Speed 30 ft | Active conditions: mage armor

Kasvot stands over the rubble, looking at the remains of the manor house. "So much for sending a recovery team." He turns to Vie. "Good thinking with that floating disk; we'd have never recovered as much as we did without that." Looking at all of the Pathfinders, he concludes "Well, it's a long walk back. Better get going."

Thanks so much for the game, GM, and to everyone for bringing such brightness to this!
