Since I'm carefully avoiding their table, I don't know what their situation is. Since I'm unconscious and stable, it would be easy enough for me to wake up in a new place and go forward from there.
I presume that their experiences have largely mirrored ours with a sea voyage and a shipwreck. If if works for you and the other table, I'm fine with assuming we were originally on the same ship and just washed up on different beaches.
I'm not sure how my shapechange interacts with consciousness. Once triggered, it is available for an hour, but I can switch forms as necessary. When I'm knocked out, I think I stay in my current form until the hour's up and then I revert (if necessary) to my elven body. It's not terribly important, but I thought I would share the question now when it wasn't terribly important rather than wait for a crisis when it mattered.
I'd be completely open to playing with the other group. I know and respect those guys.
I've played in a 2 player PbP before and know that my sporadic absences are enough to bring the game down. My absences are less disrupting if there are more posters to cover them up.
To help achieve the integration, I'm willing to rework back story or gin up a new character -- as long as I don't have to shop for anything more than 1st level equipment.
That said, I'd be happily willing to continue with just the two of us. PR's one of the best players and Aubrey's one of the best DM's on the boards.

Their situation is very similar to yours, they are in the middle of combat, although the party is back together and the venue is the fishers' village rather than the beach.
I would suggest that integration should be quite simple. Ujarak can be a sailor - there's plenty of those on the ship. Rish can either be another sailor, or a passenger, maybe a stowaway. I see no reason to create new characters. Please come across to the original discussion thread and you can work something out, and we can integrate you in the action swiftly.
