About Kaerishidlon Greenbriar
Backstory:
Rish was the only child of an elven couple that was considered too old to have a child. After years of prayers to the elven deity of the natural world and plants for the blessing of a child, their wish was granted. Knowledgeable in the many ways plants could be used, they spent many extended trips into the wild fringes of the elven kingdom's lands teaching their son the arts of the herbalist.
Eventually, they concluded that they had taught him all they could, but feeling he had untapped potential that they could not identify, they took him to meet the elder of a druid circle that they had worked with in years past. The elder was intrigued by the latent abilities of the young elf and accepted him into the circle provisionally. During his time with the circle, he learned much more about animals than his herbalist parents could teach him.
The circle was known for the many warriors and protectors of the forests that they had trained, and Rish's perosnality made him a natural for such pursuits in addition to the education he was receiving. During an otherwise forgettable skirmish, the bow-wielding Rish lost his weapon and surprised everyone when he manifested his claws spontaneously, aiding his squad in driving the foe away.
News of his new ability quickly reached the elder and the wise old elf understood what he had been overlooking. Starting that day, the training of Rish as a warrior began in earnest as they sought to teach him how to best take advantage of his gift.
When war broke out between elven lands and those of the human empire, Rish was one of many that came forward to protect their home. During this time, he was involved in many skirmishes, but few full-scale battles.
With the relative peace, he sought to return to the druid circle, but they gently turned him away. They were concerned that the war had changed him - and maybe it had. Thanking them for everything they had taught him, he shouldered his pack and headed home to the parents he hadn't seen for more than fifteen years, only to find their home long abandoned. As far as he could tell, they had left intentionally - things were not out of place, but nature was well on the way to reclaiming it completely.
He camped nearby for a week while he meditated on the road before him. The life of the last few years called him back, so after praying for the health and safety of his mother and father, if they were still alive, he turned his back on a place he'd called home for the second time in a month.
He had a vague plan to find some of those that he had fought alongside to offer his services. After years of service as a bodyguard and mercenary, he found himself working for and alongside humans rather than fighting them and realized he bore them no ill will. Recently, his continued practice and meditation has unlocked new abilities. Working with three humans to collect on a bounty for a thief that had taken something from a noble family's estate, he 'accidentally' transformed into a gigantic cat with massive fangs. The experience scared him almost as much as his human allies, but it was nothing compared to the thief's reaction. Afterward, Rish reflected aloud that it was much easier to put manacles on the man after he fainted - and his partners laughed heartily.
They parted ways amiably and Rish used his part of the bounty to live on while he tested this new form so he could learn how to control it. Since then, he has reconnected with an old ally from the war, a fighter by the name of Daenen Lithos, and now they find themselves working steadily with a diverse group.
