Game Master Tareth

A small merchant caravan led by Rook Bentknee, a kobold merchant, travels up the coast of the Bay of Ghed to deliver goods and trade with Rook's former adventuring companion and occasional business partner, Britta Gleamgaurd, human owner of the Frost Maiden Inn in the village of Nargenstal.

Sorry all, been busy the past several days and haven't had a chance to sit down and post. I'll try to catch up over the long weekend coming up. Boot as needed until then.

Kalisuel, thanks for the head's up, it is that time of year.

And speaking of which, Happy Winter Solstice everyone!

Apologies for recent short posts, have been feeling a bit creatively drained (or perhaps, been hitting the holiday sauce too hard...or both).

Tareth, did you ever decide what treasure Scram made it out with?

I do have that treasure, however, you've not had a chance to really look at it yet. Went from pilfering, to stashing, to whisking away with Gunnar, to potentialy falling into a mysterious pit. No opportunity to look over the take up to this point. :)

Although I suppose either Gunnar or Luthael might notice an increased level of magic about your person if they're both running detect magic when you get back.

Scram just wanted to talk to Vee one last time, but is ready to move on. If the party takes time chatting, he'll find a spot and use the short rest method to identify...starting with the strangest appearing thing.

All, unfortunately another busy pre-holiday work day. Things should slow down over the next couple of days and then I'll be able to get caught up on all your magic identifications and some lore info.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays all. I hope you all get to have a little down time and relaxation over the next few days. Cheers.

Maybe Scram's personal goal becomes to find some kind of herb, drug, or chemical substance that helps him remember his dreams more clearly. Maybe I could roll Investigation or Poisoner's Tools on stuff we come across (like demon-finger or fae-juice)...and while failing most of the time to find out anything about dreams yet develops some knowledge about poisons I can use in combat.

Sure thing. I think that's something that can be worked with. Especially if some of the exotic substances and failed attempts end up helping dream creatures manifest in the mortal world. ;)

I think we're all caught up on magic items and other background stuff. If I've missed something, please let me know.

I'm guessing Kalisuel is busy with holiday stuff, but if everyone else is good to move forward I'll do so. We can always flashback if there's something Kalisuel wants to do prior to leaving the tower.

Next question is where do you go. Dryad's tree, Nargenthal, Witch Mound, south toward the Ruby Sea? I think there was a bit of debate as to where to go next.

I concur, as usual, with Gunnar. But only because he makes so much sense. =)

With so great a thing, so close, it's hard not to just go over to it and deal with it right now, as opposed to zooming over a far far way and then seeing about coming back.

Hmm what if Rad has already been charmed by The Mound? That's why he is being so nonchalant about it. BECAUSEMIND CONTROL FROM THE FAERIES.

Speculation aside, mounds always need further inspection when encountered.

Okay. So it sounds like we've got a majority for checking out the immediate threat of the pit. (Sorry Luthael.)

I'll work on posting something shortly.

Kalisuel, hope you feel better.

Yikes! Suddenly I can't swing a cat without hitting a nat 20. ;)

I'll need to ponder what both Gunnar and Luthael discover with their investigations. Probably won't be able to get that posted until tomorrow.

Has everyone written down what magic items they are taking?

I was kind of bold about claiming the armor, so I don't want to start grabbing anything else, but if no one is laying claim to some things I make take a gander.

Like, I don't think anyone has taken the necklace? That looks very useful.

Also weren't there some potions?

I just assume that Gunnar is carrying everything, unless we want to say otherwise.

Nothing really floats my boat. Besides the carpet and oar, which are more party magic items.

Someone should wear the necklace.

The archer should probably attach the Plumb to her bow

The Rod of Bubbles looks like a death sentence for anything that cannot swim or breath underwater.

Think Gunnar would take the Staff as a backup.

cheers

Good call on the staff. Gunnar will take that as a backup. I have put it into his character sheet as a custom item, and I will update it after he uses it and finds out more game mechanics details on the damage done, etc.

He will also take one of the greater healing potions, just in case.

Not having read Scramsax's spoilers, I am not sure exactly what is going on. Once we head down, perhaps Gunnar will understand the strange situation better...Though saving forest creatures pre-transformation sounds good from the options given.

I think there were fae creatures along with the normal animals, but I may have read that wrong. I was originally thinking we could 'fish' one we want out with a grappling hook and chat it up/slap it silly etc. Sorry if the report back was confusing.

But then it looked like the worm thing(s?) was rapidly converting them all and continues to build its aberrant army...so I'm voting The Invictusol fireballs.

Also, a 5 armed rabbit would be a pretty nice thing to have, if the eternal void evil could be struck from its psyche. Just saying.

Hey all, just dropping a quick note to say that we had to put down our 16 year old border collie last night. He was a great companion and the best dog both my wife and I have ever had. Anything for Gunnar’s readied action with the staff, or should he do that as part of his regular turn? Not particularly sure what it’s game stats are yet, but it could be interesting.

Heh...weeeellll, it is a standard 5' wide 10' high tunnel and they are coming as a horde using walls and ceiling. You probably can't get all of them, but you'd get a majority. I'd go with 6 plus 1d6 or something of that nature.

Gunnar, sorry, I forgot your staff action. I don't have my notes right by my side at the moment, but it was a base Eldritch Blast spell (1d10+3 damage) that you can super charge to 3d10 if you use all the charges at once. To hit is a normal ranged attack using your spell casting stat. Go ahead and make your attack with the staff if you want before the top of this round.
