Walla Kosvan |
I'll update her entry around the 30th. I'm planning on playing her and giving her some GM credit sheets later this month at a local convention.
Kije |
Just about to start the final encounter for Thralls of the Shattered God. Assuming this character doesn't die, he'll be here!
Katswiri |
Hi everyone! Going to be gone for a long weekend, but wanted to stop in and say hi before I left. Katswiri's got one additional scenario under her belt that I haven't scanned and updated in her profile yet, but is otherwise set to go.
Katswiri |
Based off This post , I think we're going to need a replacement for Lynn. She's still on the sign up sheet, do you want to take her off and recruit for another player GM?

Ah, good eye. I had missed that post. I'll try to get that taken care of tonight.
GM MattMorris |
Hey everyone! We are getting close to the kickoff here, and I just wanted to make a couple notes!
1) Since this is a multi-table special, I'm going to keep things moving along as much as possible for us. This should allow us to contribute to the group successes and to experience as much of the content in the special as possible. To that end, I'll be botting a little more aggressively than I usually do. It's fine if you can't post every day, but I will be moving the game along every day. The more posts the better.
2) To that end, can you please make sure you have botting instructions set up in your profile.
3) Please also fill in your character details on this Slide, including the Initiative and Perception macros. This will help me move things along efficiently.
4) To save time while we are playing, I will also be putting a lot of information, such as Knowledge checks, in spoilers. If you roll a Knowledge check and you are interested in something specific, please just note that with your roll and I'll try to get you the info you are after.
5) Generally, I'll roll Perception and Initiative checks for you and let you roll your own saving throws, unless I need to bot you. Please make sure your profile is up to date with any conditional modifiers on these rolls.
Whew! Sorry for the long introduction. I usually run a bit more free-wheeling, but I want to make sure we have the best experience of a multi-table special that we can. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Katswiri |
Got my info on the slides, and updated Katswiri's profile here to include her perception with modifiers. I wanted to also give a little introduction to Katswiri, so everyone has some idea of her strengths and weaknesses, and to highlight some of her less common rules interactions.
Katswiri is a Lore Oracle, and her most stand out ability is to more or less automatically succeed at three out of combat Int based skill checks each day using her Focused Trance ability. She spends standard actions for 1d6 rounds (which usually precludes combat use), then gets to make a check with a +20 circumstance bonus. Her natural divination ability also usually is used to get two skill checks with a +10 competence bonus, for helping to guarantee a few important non-int skill checks. She can also effectively cast Augury 1/day with a 1 minute cast time if we need guidance on how to proceed. I usually flavor all these abilities as either omens or visions of the past or future, as Katswiri is a seer.
In addition to her limited use abilities, she can act as a face with a good diplomacy and reasonable bluff check, and is trained in every int based skill, so can handle a lot of skill checks even once her limited use abilities run out.
In combat, she's less exciting, mostly acting as support with buffing and healing. She's got a -6 initiative modifier, so is almost always last, and is carrying a medium load and medium armor so isn't very mobile. She usually casts sound burst or heals people depending on the situation, though can also do mediocre melee damage with her mace. She gets CHA to AC and Reflex saves in place of dex, so does have a pretty good AC though.
Katswiri has the deaf oracle curse, so she cannot hear. Mechanically, deafness:
--Causes her to automatically fail all perception checks based on sound
--Gives her a -4 penalty to initiative checks.
--Gives her a -4 penalty to opposed perception checks
--Makes her immune to language dependent spells and abilities, audible bardic performances, and some specific spells or situations (like the stun on sound burst)
--Would give her a 20% spell failure chance for casting spells with verbal components, but her curse gives her the silent spell metamagic on all her spells for free with no level or cast time increase.
To help understand the people around her, she took read lips as a language with linguistics as noted in the PFS faq: http://paizo.com/organizedplay/faq#v5748eaic9vhs
More recently, she has purchased magical Spectacles of Lip Reading, which have made it much easier for her to understand those around her without needing ideal conditions (she just needs to pass a DC 0 perception check, modified by distance and conditions as appropriate to understand someone as long as she speaks the language they are using). Most of the time, lip reading is sufficient to allow her to function pretty well, but occasionally events will require some help with someone repeating information or explaining things, like when she runs into intelligent talking objects or there are loud noises out of sight that need to be responded to.
Katswiri keeps a visual journal of her adventures, where if she has the opportunity, she will paint pictures of various important events or interesting people/scenery/objects that occur during the mission. Its mostly fluff, but it's fun, and its how she does her reporting for the society.
Katswiri is level 4, so will be playing up for this game. Given her poor initiative and relatively low HP pool, she would appreciate not being on the front lines, if possible.
Yasuka Kimune |
I also updated the profile.
The forces of Dame Yasuka Kimune (yes a noble baronetess) are Bluff and Diplomacy, as well as (but lesser) Diguise, Use Magic Device and Sleight of hand.
As she's a Mesmerist, it's something logical. Then she can act as spellcaster or light infantry in combat.
Grel Veldgott |
Grel has been updated in the deck.
There are a few buffs that will shift Perception and attacks but I'll be sure to update those on the character sheet and status bar as quickly as possible.
Botting instructions added to bottom of character sheet.
Grel is a stout, dusty dwarf. Hands crusty with bits of clay and earth as if his body secretes it. Grel has a shiny warhammer slung to his belt and a wooden shield affixed to the back of his paneled horn armor.
Recently picked up some good Wild Shape options but haven't really used it yet. Maybe this is the scenario :)
Aside from that Grel does some buffing and melee support in combat.
High perception and decent defense to be able to take a forward position and keep an eye out.
Kije |
If it needs to be lit on fire, Kije's just the man to do it! Ifrit sorcerer with the elemental fire bloodline, he's a blaster with a few support and debuff options. He'll try to go first with his high initiative to catch a group of enemies with fireball before shifting to scorching ray and magic missile as needed. Between Varisian Tattoo and Spell Specialization, Kije casts all evocation spells at CL 7 and fireball at CL 9.
Outside of combat, Kije's decent at spotting things and knows more languages than the average sorcerer (boon shenanigans). He's happy to assist with any bluffing or intimidating, and can usually help with diplomacy as well.
I'll review Kije's spells that target Will - with a mesmerist, we should be able to get most opponents severely hampered between everyone.
Walla Kosvan |
Walla is good up front in combat situations. She likes poking things with her rapier. She has decent social skills as well.
GM MattMorris |
Thanks for the character introductions, folks! We'll be finishing up mustering and doing initial skill checks this weekend, with our full start up on Monday. Please make sure characters are up to date!
GM MattMorris |
Off to the races, folks! Please notice that I also added a couple links to our maps area, one keeping track of the successes for the special and one a map of the asteroid.
GM MattMorris |
Heya folks-
I'm going to try to do the Knowledge check thing that Kije suggested. Would you guys do me a quick favor and list:
1) Your trained Knowledges and Modifiers
2) The type of info about monsters that you would generally be interested in.
Example:
Ezren
1) Knowledge (arcana) +12, Knowledge (planes) +10
2) Spell resistace, elemental resistance/immunities.
I will also always give you folks the alignment, size, type, and subtype of monsters you identify.
Walla Kosvan |
Local +4
DR; Special Defenses; Special attacks
Katswiri |
Planes: +11
Local: +8
Arcana: +10
Nature: +9
Religion: +9
Special Abilities, Spell Like Abilities, DR
Kije |
Arcana: +6
Planes: +13
Kije's most interested in spell resistance and energy resistances. After that, he enjoys weaker saving throws (if that's a thing?), spells and SLAs, and DR.
Kije |
- Diplomacy
- Disable Device
- Knowledge (arcana)
- Knowledge (religion)
- Linguistics
- Spellcraft
Alright, who wants to do what? And do we want to take time to focus on one check at a time, break into "teams" to attempt two checks at once, or have everyone try their own checks and see if we can't resolve this haunt before it acts?
Kije's most competent with Spellcraft (+11), followed by Knowledge (arcana) and Diplomacy (+6).
GM MattMorris |
People are definitely allowed to aid another on these. You just need to declare what you are doing before people start rolling if you want to work together.
Grel Veldgott |
Grel would like to help with "emergency repairs" and use Stone Shape. not sure if that takes the place of a skill check or not. I can also aid on Spellcraft with a +9
Yasuka Kimune |
I didn't see this discussion before posting... because I posted before it. I've +12 in Diplomacy and that's for long my best skill in the middle of the others.
Katswiri |
Katswiri's relevant skills:
Diplomacy: +10
Knowledge (arcana): +10
Knowledge (religion): +9
Linguistics: +11
Spellcraft: +9
She can also probably automatically pass any of the int based checks in 1d6 rounds with Focused Trance, even with a DC boost (+20 to the check).
GM, there's some RP fluff surrounding her use of Natural Divination, where Katswiri has to observe birds in flight to activate the charges to work as +10 bonuses to a skill check over the course of the day (it has two other modes with different requirements). As I noted in my into in discussion, Katswiri usually doubles up on the +10 to a skill check.
Do you mind if it is assumed that Katswiri prepared the ability as necessary in the morning before the adventure starts, much like a wizard would be assumed to have prepared his daily spells?
Kije |
1d6 rounds might find the party in bad shape - haunts don't tend to play gently. Natural Divination sounds like the best bet right now.
For round 1, so far we have:
- Yasuka: Diplomacy
- Kije: Spellcraft
- Grel: Stone Shape
- Katswiri: (Linguistics? None of the rest of us are much good at that)
- Walla: (Diplomacy? Aid or separate roll?)
I'll go ahead and roll Kije's Spellcraft before I sign off for the night so we can keep things moving.
Katswiri |
Yeah, Focused Trance usually doesn't work well in combat type situations. Katswiri will do Linguistics first, then Knowledge:Religion next round I think. She'll use Natural Divination to help ensure success if it is ruled she has it active.

Yes, you certainly could have looked at those flocks of birds this morning. :)
Kije |
Kije’s has a wand of monkry fish with plenty of charges. It would give us the ability to Take 10 on our Climb checks and a +8 racial bonus to boot.
GM MattMorris |
Each check is going to take 5 minutes, so it would be 5 charges for each check. (Fine to use it, though)
Walla Kosvan |
Is it two checks per person or two checks as a group?
If it is as a group Walla can assist in climb checks. She only has a +1 to her checks but can Derring-Do (spend 1 panache point when she makes an Acrobatics, Climb, Escape Artist, Fly, Ride, or Swim check to roll 1d6 and add the result to the check. She can do this after she makes the check but before the result is revealed. If the result of the d6 roll is a natural 6, she rolls another 1d6 and adds it to the check. She can continue to do this as long as she rolls natural 6s, up to a number of times equal to her Dexterity modifier) if needed.
Her survival is a -1.
Grel Veldgott |
The instructions are 2 climb or survival checks. Spider Climb should be auto success for all of us.
GM MattMorris |
If you guys use communal spider climb you will automatically succeed on the 2 checks. I'll move forward assuming you are doing that.
Katswiri |
Apologies, I missed Dungeoneering in my initial Knowledge overview for Katswiri. For some reason, I had it in my head that there were only 5 Knowledges paired with creature identification.
For completeness, all of Katswiri's Knowledge skills:
Planes: +11
Local: +8
Arcana: +10
Nature: +9
Religion: +9
Dungeoneering: +8
Engineering: +8
History: +14
Nobility: +8
Geography: +8
Kije |
- Bluff
- Diplomacy
- Intimidate
- Linguistics
- Perform
- Profession (merchant)
Kije automatically aids any Bluff (+9) or Intimidate (+9) attempts, but everything else would be untrained. That being said, we do have a high number of charismatic people who might be able to pull off a decent performance if we work together.
Diplomacy is probably our best bet. Kije will attempt to aid (+5) as best he can.
Yasuka Kimune |
Well: Bluff +14, Diplomacy +12, Perform (dance) +9, Linguistics +3, others untrained.
Walla Kosvan |
Bluff +8; Diplomacy +10, Intimidate +10.
Diplomacy looks to be our best with Yasuka being main at +12- Katsiri and myself auto-succeeding at aiding and Kije needing a 5.
Bluff might be next with Yasuka at +14 and Kije automatic aid, I need a 2 to aid and Katsiri needing a 3.
Intimidate- I have a +10, Kije has a +9.
Linguistics- Katsiri has a +11 and Yasuka has a +3.
Do we try Diplomacy twice and Bluff once?
Katswiri |
Katswiri can also probably automatically pass up to 3 Linguistics checks with focused trance if need be. If we fail more than once (or twice? how many do you think we feel comfortable potentially missing?) she can finish however many successes we need.
She's also going to ask if he would like to have his picture painted. Katswiri loves doing paintings for people as gifts or bob ross style as entertainment, if there's any flexibility in the skill use and Craft:Painting would be allowed.
Grel Veldgott |
wow. y'all are amazing. and I just realized we're a group of 5.
Looks like:
Diplo: Yasuka lead.
Linguistics: Katswiri lead w Focused Trance
Bluff: Yasuke lead.
The rest of us should do aid rolls. Sound good?
Walla Kosvan |
Looks good to me.
Grel Veldgott |
If those leads would make a post with the lead roll, the rest of us can cater our language to aid and make the aid rolls.
Katswiri |
Two successes! We'll finish up with a Bluff from Yasuka, and if it fails a Linguistics from Katswiri?
