Other than Wind Wall (mentioned above) Emil cannot prepare any cleric spells that create winds that might limit the mist's movement, but there are a number of Druid spells that could be effective.
If we can keep the mist at bay and concentrate on the undead suits of armor we might be able to win in stages. Emil has a magic bow in case it has DR/Magic to do damage at range.
Grenwold Houtvester
Gren has versatile weapon, so can turn weapons into +2 ones. However, he cannot swap out spells in any meaningful way. I believe that resist energy acid would be very helpful.
However, I’m fairly sure there’s no reliable way to reduce the damage from the negative energy, unless I’m mistaken. But if one PC is taking “just” 6d6 per round, with a chance at a save, I expect that is much more manageable.

I think the fickle winds is just what we need. We can attack it, but it cannot attack us. The mist cannot harm us without using the engulf ability, I think.
GM: The mist probably has some immunities, so do we know what those are?

I have had a rather rough go of life lately, I apologize for the frequent stops and starts and breaks. I'm still here to keep us going however, I'm not giving up. I appreciate you all sticking with me through the rough patches. Hopefully we can get some momentum going again!

I know you don't frequent the discord often Thael, so I'll mention it here as well. I spoke Selde's player and they are withdrawing from the game. I extended them an invitation to return at some point in the future. Hopefully we find a way to get Jillian or Selde back at some point should they be up to returning!
For now... Game on!

Glad you're hanging in there--we appreciate your diligence.
Sorry to hear about Selde, especially since she'd been my primary relationship. We'll have to play that through.
Father Emil
We appreciate your fine efforts and hope things improve soon.

Everyone: note the spells Emil cast before combat, including communal protection for evil. Assuming these enemies are evil (seems a safe bet), everyone gets +2 deflection bonus to AC and +2 Resistance bonus to Saves.
I think the fickle winds spell ought to protect against the mist, but waiting for the GM to rule on that.
Grenwold Houtvester
SL would not let me have most minute per level spells, because the mist came upon us as we approached. Definitely nothing that’s rounds per level.
Also, is someone casting communal resist energy (acid)? If nobody casts this I have to at least protect myself with my own resists.
Father Emil
Emil can cast communal resist energy, but if everyone is protected by the Fickle Winds, I would think that would protect each PC from the acid, since gaseous creatures cannot pass through the wind.
Grenwold Houtvester
Well, it’s an open question that SL has to answer as to whether we had time to do fickle winds. He told me specifically no minute per level buffs, but if he changes his mind to allow fickle winds - I’d be happy!
Father Emil
I would think we would know when we were within a minute of movement to the stricken area and could choose to cast spells before we were under attack. We weren't given any options as to when or where to cast buffs, but I'd have said take the time before we're in danger and take the chance that a minute or two might go by before we encounter unfriendlies. Since that was a big part of our plan to buff up with fickle winds and other spells prior to battle, I'd hope we can get a ret-con on this.
Emil could prepare Communal Resist Energy, but that too would require casting in advance of combat.
Grenwold Houtvester
Fickle winds or not then, if Grenwold were anywhere near the ruins of the town, he would have cast resist energy on himself and Ringo. It’s a first level spell so it’s relatively efficient. If it’s wasted and we have fickle winds, then so be it. Grenwold doesn’t know enough about the thing to make a decision about whether or not fickle winds will work, and he prefers not to die horribly to acid :D .

The monsters were not sitting in the exact same place that you left them, they had moved further ahead as they had followed you out from your retreat. My intention was to explain that they had confronted you earlier than you had expected and thus short-duration spells should be cast in combat rather then outside of it.
I understand preparation is the whole point of buffing up and saying you'd risk casting minutes in advance, but I suppose that got lost in the shuffle. It's the grey area you have when playing over PBP that you can discuss each intricacy back and forth before encounters like this.
It's fine, I'll allow you to cast all of the spells you want if you would like to go back and change your actions accordingly.
Grenwold Houtvester
We're all a bit too spread out for that, so I think we should take SL up on his offer to have it up, but maybe it'll be fair to say that it only is up for 5 more minutes or something?
Father Emil
In the future, I'd recommend giving the players a map that shows where the previous battle took place and give it a scale and a position near the edge for the PCS. Give the distance on the map that can be covered in one minute and ask the players where they pause to buff. The GM can know where the monsters are and if the players stop too close to where the monsters are, then there's a surprise round before any battle for casting spells. That way players can decide how cautious to be and there's no issues. If there's time to buff, then the amount of time that passes before combat can also be determined to see how much duration is left.

As a heads-up, I'm getting a tooth extracted Wednesday. I'll presumably be on some sort of pain killer for a few days afterward, so not sure how that will affect my posting. I'll post tomorrow (Tuesday), but I'd say feel free to bot me after that if I'm ever holding things up.
Father Emil
I can't get the Roll 20 site map to load for some reason. Neither Emil nor Pila are going to try to get down to fight the creatures down below so it doesn't matter much. Emil will cast Spiritual Weapon next round to add attacks to the mix.
Caspan Saal
I'm on vacation this week, so not sure how much time I'll have for posting. I may still have time to post today and Tuesday, but definitely don't expect to be posting Wednesday-Friday. I'm hoping to get going again Saturday evening.

FYI, I'll be traveling for Thanksgiving and likely unable to post (or not post much) from now until Monday.
Have a great holiday, all! Feel free to bot me.

Hope all is well with our faithful GM. I'm going to be extra busy this week, but if things get rolling again, I'll try to squeeze in a post to keep current. 'Bot as needed, however.

Hey gang, hope everyone is still around!
I attempted to return to normal life a little too quickly last time and I ended up making things worse for myself. After regroup and getting healthy, I think I'm ready to try and pick things back up again. Things have improved greatly for me now and I'm finally started to feel like my old self once more.
I'm going (try) and work myself back into checking in daily here once more. Hopefully we'll make it out of this mine before it collapses on you all...
Caspan Saal
FYI, I've got a new direct report starting Monday, so will be spending the week onboarding him. Compound that with another employee being off, so my covering his shift at the end of the day, and I don't know how much I'll be posting this coming week. Then Friday and Saturday is Passover, so don't expect I'll be posting then and maybe not Sunday morning. I hope to be be back to regular posting April 18.
Obviously feel free to DMPC (or PPC) me.
Father Emil
I've been slammed with taxes and work. I'll try to get a post up soon.
Grenwold Houtvester
Think I should let Caspan start and I’ll go after the next few that appear.
Caspan Saal
Hey all, I'm heading out Sunday on a LONG-delayed family trip to Greece. I won't be back until May 29. I'm hoping to start posting again May 30, jetlag permitting.
