Sorry to hold things up. I had a mood this past weekend and just could not get my head into a good place to be in character.

In my gameplay post, I did not get into the questions. Lalia has done well lining them up for us in her Friday discussion post. Do we have anyone that wants to ask a particular question?

BATTLE REQUESTS!

Since I know we have some tenderfeet, feel free to ask questions, and don't worry about getting everything 100% perfect. We're all learning.

It's best in my experience to narrate what your character is doing, and leave description of the outcome to me (i.e., don't narrate that you decapitated the enemy and then make me describe how you only THOUGHT you decapitated him, but really missed ;-) ). Be descriptive, and try to stay in character!

It is not necessary, but it can be useful to include an OOC summary of your actions at the end of your post. I found when I was first doing PbP, it helped me keep track of how I spent my Standard, Move, Swift, Free, Full-Round, etc. actions, which can be challenging otherwise.

Spellcasters, please declare ahead of time if you are casting defensively and give a roll if necessary.

@Earll, if you have conditions where you want to use Parry and Riposte, please list them in your post for ease of running (as far as I know, you're the only one with this sort of reaction, but that goes for everyone, if you have such abilities). I'll decide if they're used based on what the enemies do, and you have my word the enemies will not know of your plans in advance!

@gm dou. Tenderfoot reporting in. Plz let me know what I’m doing wrong. Also I have my equipment list with what’s in the backpack etc that I can get to you. I sent it to Malochia to get it to you but I think he’s been ignoring his equipment list still. Anyway, I should be medium load with it and light without. Unless of course I’ve done incorrect things with my equipment list which is still a possibility.

@All Earll had some RL conflicts today, but I'd love for him to get to make a combat post, so I'm going to give him a little more time to post in combat before I gently bot him to keep things moving.

@Lalia, overall, you're doing exactly what you should be doing for a post in combat. You overspent actions a bit though. In a surprise round, you can take Free actions and a single Move or Standard action. You took (by my count) a Free action, two Move actions, and a Standard action:

* Handle Fyrra - Free action
* Draw a weapon (sling) - Move action
* Load a sling - Move action that requires two hands and provokes attacks of opportunity (if threatened)
* Attack (Ranged) - Standard Action that provokes an attack of opportunity (if threatened)

I suspect you missed the actions for drawing and loading your sling, which is totally fine. I will treat this as you handling Fyrra, then drawing your sling, unless you would prefer that I retcon that you draw a melee weapon (keep in mind, if in melee with a bug, you can 5-ft step away, use a Move action to load your sling, and attack, all without provoking. You'll just provoke if you're in melee range while loading or firing).

@Dra'hir I greatly appreciate your desire to keep combat moving at a good pace. I do think it is best to give only a single round's actions in one post, because it otherwise you can end up giving instructions that do not fit the tactical battlefield. For example, you used Spell Combat, which is a full round action, but might not be in range of a creature in the first full round of combat. Just do your best to keep up with posts, and we'll have to deal with minor delays here and there. For this post, I will attempt to break up your actions over two rounds.

Also, we need to talk about Spell Combat and Spellstrike offline.

If Del or Earll don't kill that beetle (Frozen with fear or whatever), Dra'Hir is going to run up using his arcane pool to attack it.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 1 = 19 +1 from arcane pool
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 +1 from arcane pool

As our GM noted I've been dealing with RL stuff that has killed much of my motivation, and positive outlook. I think I have it to a place that is manageable, barring any more unforeseen calamities. So, I hope to be posting more this coming week.

Since cold iron came up as one way to deal with Demon's Bile:

Weapons made of cold iron cost twice as much to make as their normal counterparts (not counting masterwork costs). Also, adding any magical enhancements to a cold iron weapon increases its price by 2,000 gp. This increase is applied the first time the item is enhanced, not once per ability added.

Items without metal parts cannot be made from cold iron. An arrow could be made of cold iron, but a quarterstaff could not. A double weapon with one cold iron half costs 50% more than normal.

Cold iron has 30 hit points per inch of thickness and hardness 10.

Despite being an unusual material, cold iron weapons only cost double what their normal counterparts do. Thus, a cold iron dagger would cost 4 gp (2 x 2 gp), a cold iron rapier would cost 40 gp (2 x 20 gp), and a cold iron falchion would cost 150 gp (2 x 75 gp). Cold iron arrows would cost 2 gp/20 arrows, while cold iron crossbow bolts would cost 2 gp/10.

You can expect that the General Store would have some cold iron weapons, if you went looking for them.

So we don't get the sense that any of the apprentices are in the graveyard in a mausoleum or something?

You are welcome to search the graveyard (Survival). You found items on the ground that you think belonged to Nolaria, and you found her familiar, which is saying "Get yellow-foot!" If you choose to do a Survival check, I will decide what you find in the graveyard.

I think we should poke around the mausoleums before we leave at minimum. If nothing turns up, bakery and tavern is good with me, though I’d like to stop back at the orchard at some point and see if we can’t acquire that sap we left behind. That thing is expensive

I vote: Search about gyard and see if that affects our decisions, if it doesn't go bakery, stop by orchard to look for the sap, tavern, get a rest at the tavern for the night.

What's the in game time now? If it's nearing night I think resting in the tavern is a good idea, otherwise we can try to continue according to our investigation results. We can also re-talk to the person related to yellow-boots apprentice?

Hey folks, Del has essentially been dropped by his player at this point. There were some issues with him (no equipment, some stat issues based on misunderstandings when he was being built [my knowledge from private conversations]) etc. And we have a few new people, so I'd like to have that fifth party member for backup.

So . . . I've rebuilt Del to keep a similar flavor (halfling, same god, same backstory, same weapon), but with updated equipment, stat distribution, and feats). I've got a text version of a character sheet in my GM Dou profile. You're welcome to look.

I am planning on running him as a helpful NPC, with interactions here and there, but mostly in the background, so that you guys still are the ones playing the module.

If you are not a fan of this plan, please let me know.

I'd rather not carry anything (including the morningstar) because I might get hit with medium load. I'll update my equip list, I presume we are running around without camping gear but I can only carry 26lbs with my 8 STR. That sap is 2lbs

I just checked and I can pick it up, I'm at 19.5lbs atm, if we are assuming I'm running around without bedroll, iron pots and 5 days worth of food.

I think it’s use magic item? Del does have bless on his spell list and has use magic device, so he can if no one else

Normally, to use a wand, you must have the wand’s spell on your class spell list. This use of the Use Magic Device skill allows you to use a wand as if you had a particular spell on your class spell list. The UMD DC is 20. Failing the roll does not expend a charge; however, if you roll a Natural 1 while attempting to activate an item and fail, you can't try to activate that item again for 24 hours.
