Esdras Martalen |

Sevas, you still swamped with irl stuff? No worries just let us know.
It seems there's been some consensus reached on backgrounds. Anything else you guys want to add before I start getting the first act prepared?
I believe Esdras is good to go!

Caspian "Cass" Abernathy |

Good to go here!

Topaz of Flint |

I added a couple more pieces of gear and tweaked the spell choices, and I think Topaz is set to go!

DM Omen |

It seems Sevas hasn't posted in five days (including all of his other aliases). I've sent him a couple private messages over the last few days but haven't heard back. I'm going to give him a few more days to respond because often when real life hits us it often doesn't give us a chance to notify our online friends of the situation we're in.
You have all been very patient, so I am going to get the game started tomorrow. Expect a large opening post, hopefully early in the morning, but possibly in the afternoon. If Sevas comes back in a reasonable timeline he will be worked in easily due to the nature of his character, but if not we will continue without him with the four of you.

Topaz of Flint |

I have family in town, so depending on exactly when the start post goes up, I may not be able to respond immediately, but I will get in at some point tomorrow. Looking forward to it!

Draegar Ironhide |

I didn't, no. I'll take care of that tonight. I might poach from the other characters backstories.
Do you have any planned NPCs that would be good to have connections with?
Is there an established Skive warlord in this area?

DM Omen |

Most of the NPCs who I've already completely planned out are in the players guide.
I heavily suggest taking creative liberty and writing in some characters, even if that means making some minor changes to the world. If you want an established Skive warlord, write one in! This is the only time you have such power :P

DM Omen |

DAMAGE INDUSTRIES
I literally busted out laughing in the middle of cooking dinner. My girlfriend was very concerned about me!
Side note: I know I'm not responding to you guys in game yet. I have a tendency to...check the boards very frequently (i.e. I have RSS notifications setup), and if I respond before giving the others a chance to post I know it can often lead to one or two characters getting the spotlight.
Also, avatars! I want to see your beautiful faces!
Edit: Also, give me that knowledge (engineering) check! Or as I wrote, kwowledge. My first typo of the game :')

Caspian "Cass" Abernathy |

Hey hey! Everyone's first posts are great! I was out late and just got home but I'll put something up tomorrow morning!

DM Omen |

I am already massively impressed about the quality of posts and I am so excited for this campaign.
Also, *ahem*
AVATARS
Unless for some reason you want to not have an avatar, such as if you can't find one that really matches your vision for the character, but in that case try to find an image that does and link it in your header like Cass has. Of course you are also free to do both if you think there's an avatar that gives a good representation of your character but you also have a more detailed picture you want everybody to be able to refer to.

Topaz of Flint |

I have had an impossible time with the avatar page - it won't show me all the options and when I think I'm clicking on one, it selects another. Drives me nuts. I'll see if I can find something somewhere else that fits my mental image!

Topaz of Flint |

I added a link to an image. It's not perfect (the hair should be messier and darker) but it's the closest I found in a reasonable amount of Googling time. :)

Topaz of Flint |

Found one I liked better. Now linked in the header.

Caspian "Cass" Abernathy |

I probably should have mentioned this before - but Im usually not online on the weekends as it is my "I don't have to work!" day and I spend it doing things that don't involve me sitting at a desk typing away. Sorry it took me so long to respond.
During the weekdays I post pretty regularly though!

Topaz of Flint |

FYI, I'll be in meetings starting in an hour or so, then all day tomorrow and half of Wednesday, so I won't be on during the day while that's going on. Should still be able to be on in the evenings and early mornings though. (That's east coast US time.)

Draegar Ironhide |

DM Omen wrote:Draegar make sure you have your background and description/personality put into your alias...Also Draegar, did you ever end up on deciding some notable NPCs to include in your backstory?Friendly reminder Draegar :)
First draft complete. I've left out the names of the NPCs we discussed because I have forgotten what they were.
Here's an update for Cass. Since we went to the same school, you probably know that Draegar "died" in a lab accident when he was 16. For simplicity's sake, lets say Cass and Draegar haven't seen each other since. As a fellow technologist, you've probably heard that the Skive tribes have a tech expert working for them now, but it's unlikely that you have made the connection given that you think Draegar is dead.

DM Omen |

Nice, good work Draegar! On background as well as connections!
I'll find some time tomorrow to help you create some NPC connections. I know one character you were interested in was a local chief, somebody with some power. Any other rough ideas? I can help brainstorm and pin down if you point me in the right direction :)

DM Omen |

He has no body hair of any kind thanks to the accident. Instead, he has scars, which rather than being white, are a deep angry red. In the dark they glow faintly from within, pulsing with a crimson light where the dozens of shrapnel shards of Ettunium are still lodged in his body.
F* that's cool.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So looking over Draegar's background again I have some ideas for possible NPCs.
1) Fellow students. Some notable friends growing up, or rivals, or both. Somebody that had Draegar's back when he was growing up, or somebody that tried to make his life hell.
2) Authority figures in his childhood. Teachers in schools, or supervisors in the labs. Once again, can be friends and/or enemies.
3) Some of the scientists and doctors overseeing Draegar after his accident. Perhaps the lead researcher, whoever was in charge of the experiments being run on him.
4) The clan leader, an obvious NPC choice. Somebody willing to lead fights close to Thane's borders, a very daring chief. Perhaps somebody devoted to reclaiming the lands lost to Thane during the Berivian War. Perhaps that's the reason they're so invested in Draegar: to acquire greater weaponry to aid their raids into the inner southern peninsula.
Topaz of Flint |
I figured I'd get Topaz at least into the same general scene as everyone else, and that it made sense that she might pass by the stall and notice the scene on her way back to the rendezvous.
DM Omen |
Well done Draegar, I'm impressed you managed to get on Caelus's good side! He's a bit of a spoiler brat, I honestly didn't expect that turn of events.
But that's what I love about this method of story crafting, the unpredictability. Just wait until you have world changing decisions to make ;)
Topaz, just so you know, you can see and hear everything going on. You're basically a bystander in the crowd right now.
Esdras Martalen |
@DM Omen: I'd like to ask you about two of Esdras's abilities... danger sight and sudden insight. Both of them allow me to add a bonus to some rolls. If we were playing F2F, there would not be any issue, but as a PBP game where we can 'preview' our dice, it can be a little suspicious.
In my last post Esdras would not be able to reach the last spoiler without the ability. I honestly intended to use the ability even before previewing the result, but I know it can raise an eyebrow...
DM Omen |
At this point you guys are all 'together' so feel free to talk among yourselves! I will be mostly quietly observing during this time.
Also, it is ultimately up to you in order to decide how much you remember of each other, but if you're wanting a dice roll to help effect the outcome roll a "recognition" check, which is a d20+int+wis. If you get at least a 10 you remember them. Cass already spectacularly failed his check to recognize Draegar :P
Topaz of Flint |
As a reminder, Topaz is currently dressed in plain, subdued servants' clothes, not what she usually wears to perform.
Topaz of Flint |
I'm headed to a LARP event this weekend, so I won't be around from midday today till Sunday night, FYI.
