Hi guys, I'm back!
As Draegar said, I'm happy to wait for Topaz to play her scene. This is a long haul anyway so we need not to rush.
Topaz of Flint
You're all being very patient. (Also, Esdras, I really like the way you write the interactions with the spirits!)
And woohoo for the nat 20 on the diplomacy roll... :)

Thanks Topaz! I'm glad to hear that! The only downside is that there is no way for you and the others to interact with them.

Not yet, anyway. :)

Loving the story unfolding so far! Cant wait until we all meet back up together again.
Also, finally picked an avatar. Not really what I pictured in my head (too wizard-y) but close enough! Clicking the "Male NG crossbred human wizard" hyperlink should give you my "true" idea of what Cass looks like.
Topaz of Flint
I'm good with moving on!
DM Omen
I am feeling a bit under the weather today. I think I may have ate something last night that didn't sit well with my stomach. I'll still be around on the boards but I don't feel well enough to write up a significant gameplay post. Apologies for the delay, I will try to get us moving along tomorrow morning.
Topaz of Flint
Feel better, DM Omen!

I'm ready to move on as well, feel better!
DM Omen
Post up. I hope you enjoy reading (and listening to) it as much as I enjoyed making it.
If you guys want to spend some time describing your actions and/or reactions at the Steel Maiden Inn or the morning thereafter, please feel free to do so. I will move the story onward to the High Cardinal's cruise to Theveste either later today or tomorrow depending on responses.
P.S. To be clear, it is assumed that you all ended up in the Steel Maiden Inn. It is the largest, most obvious, most famous, and most foreigner-accepting inn near the docks and unless you went out of your way to avoid it it's almost certainly the most likely place you would go to find shelter from the storm. Including Esdras who was out conversing with a spirit when the weather changed.

Damn! Amazing post DM Omen! I'm super swamped at work today but should be able to respond with the detail a post like that deserves tomorrow!
Topaz of Flint
Yeah, seriously, well done! I need to think some before I can respond to that, but will do so soon.
Topaz of Flint
I can't really see how Topaz could be wearing her armor in this circumstance, so I've adjusted the AC in my stat line accordingly. Can I get away with the idea that it's in her backpack, even though that's not really a realistic thing to do with studded leather? :)
Also: I'm LARPing this weekend and will be out of touch. I'll be leaving midafternoon Friday (US East Coast time) and coming back by Sunday evening.
DM Omen
So the rules are ambiguous on the case of hiding armor. So let's go with what I think is reasonable/realistic.
Houserule: Light armor can be concealed under clothing with a disguise check, taking a penalty on the check equal to the armor check penalty. If magic is used to change the person's clothing (such as from a hat of disguise) you gain a +10 bonus to this check.
So overall, Topaz would be able to conceal the armor rather easily with her magical disguising gear. If anybody has reason to suspect and examine her they would need to make a very difficult perception check, or a more moderate one if they could circumnavigate the illusion magic (such as from physically patting her down or trying to stab her and feeling the resistance from the armor).
Seem good?
Topaz of Flint
Sounds great. Thanks! I'll redo my stat line accordingly.

First attempt at using the Skyseer feat - if I've done anything wrong or made an incorrect assumption - let me know!
DM Omen
Very nice post Cass. This night is a...special occasion, so I will be sending you a PM later with some details, but in the future keep this in mind.
Immediately prior to a period of extended rest (8 hours minimum) during which the night sky is visible, you may focus your mind on the future...
Normally the Skyseer feat is not able to be used without being able to see the night sky, so during a heavy storm it would certainly not be able to be used. And I promise this is not me throwing the rules book at you, there are indeed story reasons why it functions that way.
However as I said earlier tonight was a bit different, so keep an eye on your PMs ;)
Esdras Martalen
Sorry for my silence. I have a restaurant and since it is holyday here, I'm swamped. I promise to post something by the end of the weekend.
Caspian "Cass" Abernathy
Heard!
I assumed "night sky is visible" meant I couldn't use it underground. But I am 100% on board with the way you are running it. I'll make sure to keep that in mind for the future.
As an FYI - this will be Cass' nightly routine going forward. I'll probably gloss over it next time, but since it was the first time using it I wanted to write something up.
DM Omen
Welcome aboard! I hope the description of the ship leaves the proper impression. As for the luxury cruises itself with all of the nobles, I realize that it comes off a bit imposing with a fairly 'well what do we do know?' feeling. Which is intended, because by Azgaar you were just dumped into this situation with little warning or preparation!
As for what to do now: Well that's somewhat up to you. Go find some food? Talk with Marcellun? Look for the High Cardinal? Mingle with some of the nobles? Explore the ship? Climb the pillars and swing from the rafters? Up to you!
As for all of the nobles, I had considered trying to give more explicit descriptions of those present, but I realized that with the scope of those present, I would be writing a small novel. I didn't want to go through that, or to overwhelm you guys with information. So if you are interested in talking to the nobles and/or exploring the political opportunities present, tell me what you're seeking to accomplish or look for and I will give you more details that pertain to that goal.
Esdras Martalen
Guys, not sure if you noticed or are interested, but I started a recruitment for a highly modified (with amped difficulty) WotR game in these boards.
HERE is the link. You are all invited to apply!
DM Omen
Alright Esdras has changed and the rest of you have your luggage dropped off.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems Esdras plans on leading everybody back into the main room to start hobnobbing with all the nobles? If this isn't so, please correct me. If it is so, let me know what you're wanting to accomplish so I can move us forward :)
Also as an FYI, I will be unavailable starting this weekend until the following Thursday, so from Friday afternoon until Thursday morning.
Caspian "Cass" Abernathy
Im down to follow Esdras back - Cass will stick close, he feels very out of place.
Topaz of Flint
Fine by me. Topaz will have dropped off her backpack, which means the only weapon she has on her is the dagger under her skirts.
DM Omen
We haven't heard from Esdras in a few days, but based off of everybody else I assume the plan is still to follow him into the social situation.
If Esdras doesn't post within a couple hours I will move us onward, throwing you all headfirst into the snobby high-class party with a few appropriate hooks to snap your jaws around.
Topaz of Flint
OMG, Cass as geeky fanboy cornering his idols. Love it!
Caspian "Cass" Abernathy
I see Piazo has decided to erase the post I made yesterday, sigh. Sorry for the delay! I'll get something up this morning.
Caspian "Cass" Abernathy
Another post gone into the ether?! Argh. DM - please feel free to skip me. I previewed too! I wonder if me posting from work has anything to do with it.
Caspian "Cass" Abernathy
Just wanted to wish everyone an early Happy Thanksgiving before you all travel to wherever you're going!
