Max HP: 17 | AC 3 | Reaction +2 | Saves: Poison, Paralyzation, or Death Magic: 7; Rod,Staff, or Wand 14; Petrification or Polymorph: 13; Breath Weapon: 16; Spell: 12 (9 mind effecting)

Previous Round:

Derlan moves outside.

This round:

Derlan looks to see who among his allies is the most injured, then moves to them and heals them.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 ⇒ 6

Ludi, the half-giant is currently with the gith, lol. I can still apply the attack if you like, otherwise if you want to alter course before the round wraps feel free. Derlan, it's kind of your call. Ludi is pretty hurt, Ko and Jaryx have some wounds, Ekee is at -1 but she is unlikely to be a target in the near future.

The Exchange

Thanks, looking at it closer you're right, no check is needed for the AC improvement, just that I have initiative.

Dismoon continues to dive defensively here and there, keeping the gith between her and Jaryx. She hated to see Ekee on the ground alone, but needed to deal with this tower of meat first...

Map has been expanded and updated. The black circles are where the broken columns are located. Left Ludi back in the big hall for the moment in case he wants to take me up on altering action before everyone else has acted. Who is left, Jaryx and Ko I believe?

DECEASED

I can't just leave Dis out there alone, so I guess I'm taking the fight to the gith (and risking getting killed by the half-giant).

Max HP: 17 | AC 3 | Reaction +2 | Saves: Poison, Paralyzation, or Death Magic: 7; Rod,Staff, or Wand 14; Petrification or Polymorph: 13; Breath Weapon: 16; Spell: 12 (9 mind effecting)

Derlan would move to heal instead of attack.

Thri-Kreen Fighter(Tik-Tik) LVL 3 EXP 11,677

I thought they shut us in...

Mindlessly, Jaryx hacks away at anything unfortunate enough to be in front of him.

Lotulis (THAC0 = 18): 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 = 6 (strength, specialization)
Damage: 1d10 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9 (strength, specialization)

I don't know. I'm really confused by this whole thing.

Yeah, I flubbed the whole encounter pretty thoroughly. The door was never locked, only shut. Because I'm trying to push through where I've already confused everyone, I'm going a little more fast and loose than I should go. In any case, consider Ludi to have reopened the door. The undead is out of commission, only two gith are visible and Jaryx has two rounds left of being cursed following his attack this round.

Thri-Kreen Fighter(Tik-Tik) LVL 3 EXP 11,677

Ahh, ok.

Ko clicks her mandibles and dashes out the door, headed to the fight.

I'm sire I am going to have to take a round to get to them.

As Derlan heals some of his damage, Ludi manages to take a chunk out of one of the gith.

The gith facing Jaryx stabs wildly, barely having recovered it's balance after ducking the half-giant's attack. Behind him, the other gith fails to connect with Dismoon's unpredictable movements.

Spear TH17: 1d20 ⇒ 9 vs Dismoon
Damage if hit: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Spear TH17: 1d20 ⇒ 4 vs Jaryx
Damage if hit: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Round 6 Recap

Gith1 - Misses Dis.
Gith2 - Misses Jaryx.
Derlan - Heals Ludi.
Dismoon - Keeps the gith between her and Jaryx while avoiding a hit.
Ekee - Zzz.
Jaryx - Misses a gith.
Ko-Tik - Moves to join the gith fight.
Ludi - Misses the baddie.

Everyone is up, I will update map at my earliest opportunity. Note everyone but Ekee is back top-side.

DECEASED

Spear attack (THAC0 20): 1d20 ⇒ 14

Ludi stabs again, and once again misses.

The Exchange

With more of the team engaged in the clusterbang of the gith and Jaryx, Dismoon drops back about 10 ft before deftly stringing and releasing a few deadly black arrows (still with Jaryx opposite the gith)...

Longbow, hits AC: 19 - 1d20 - 3 ⇒ 19 - (12) - 3 = 4 or higher
Dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 3

She then takes cover behind one of the broken columns and tries to be forgotten...

Hide 50%: 1d100 ⇒ 80

How does rate of fire (ROF) work again? I get another bow attack after the monster actions this round?

Jaryx continues to mindlessly hack away at anything unfortunate enough to be in front of him.

Lotulis (THAC0 = 18): 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 = 7 (strength, specialization)
Damage: 1d10 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10 (strength, specialization)

Thri-Kreen Fighter(Tik-Tik) LVL 3 EXP 11,677

Seeing her new targets, Ko releases a flurry of crystaline throwing weapons.

3d20 ⇒ (13, 6, 17) = 36 17, 10, 21 Thac0: 18
3d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 5) = 10 14, 15, 17 dmg.

The Exchange

Well, if I indeed get another at the end of the round, here it is...

Longbow, hits AC: 19 - 1d20 - 3 ⇒ 19 - (18) - 3 = -2
Sheaf: 1d8 ⇒ 4

Ludi had actually hit, but the way things went down after Dis reminded me how iterative attacks worked, the exact damage will not be needed.

Firing into melee Ko 1: 1d4 ⇒ 1 1 is intended target, 2 is Ludi, 3-4
Jaryx

Firing into melee Dis 1: 1d4 ⇒ 3 1 is intended target, 2 is Ludi, 3-4
Jaryx

Firing into melee Ko 2: 1d4 ⇒ 1 1 is intended target, 2 is Ludi, 3-4
Jaryx

Firing into melee Ko 3: 1d4 ⇒ 4 1 is intended target, 2 is Ludi, 3-4
Jaryx

Firing into melee Dis 2: 1d4 ⇒ 2 1 is intended target, 2 is Ludi, 3-4
Jaryx

Ludi stabs one of the gith as it dodges Jaryx' lotulis and Ko's first chatchka finishes the creature off. An arrow grazes Jaryx and another hits Ludi. Meanwhile, Ko's next throw takes down the other gith, but one of the other's strikes Jaryx hard.

Round 7 Recap

Derlan - AFK, moving on a second.
Dismoon - Hits Jaryx by mistake, then Ludi.
Ekee - Zzz.
Jaryx - Misses a gith.
Ko-Tik - Finishes off the gith, but also accidentally hits Jaryx.
Ludi - Stabs a gith.

So Jaryx took 20 pts of damage, Ludi 4. Firing into melee is rough, but I think some of the combat and tactics material alleviates the problem. I can try and upload a copy if desired. Everyone is up, Jaryx has one round left of curse remaining. And even though Dis failed her hide, she's still in front and I would grant her a +1 AC for cover just to help her live, lol.

DECEASED

"Ow!"

Ludi can't spare a glance in the direction of the bowman who accidentally shot him; instead he keeps attacking the gith.

Spear attack (THAC0 20): 1d20 ⇒ 14 Hit AC 6
Spear damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Both gith have fallen...there don't appear to be any more nearby, but there would be one watching from the plateau.

DECEASED

What are the things next to me on the map?

Jaryx continues to mindlessly hack away at anything unfortunate enough to be in front of him.

Lotulis (THAC0 = 18): 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 2 + 1 = 23 (strength, specialization) - Crit
Damage: 1d10 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 2 = 15 (strength, specialization) x 2 = 30

I haven't updated the map yet, let me see if I can delete them from my phone...I cannot. I will update either when I get home later or when I wake up if I crash as soon as I get home. In the meantime, I hope someone has the ability to absorb that hit or negate it, because it will flat out kill most anyone but Ko or Jaryx!

DECEASED

Well if it kills me I can always roll a cleric. ;)

The Exchange

Sorry about the friendly fire, shouldve just kept running. Ill hold off on declaring anything else until we know who Jaryx just struck.

DECEASED

Sooo... am I dead?

Ko and Dis still have actions this round. Not sure if they have a way to intervene, but if not it will be a nice little tragic scene, lol.

The Exchange

I could try to taunt him into attacking me while I outrun him (kite him basically). But not sure what to roll for that.

Thri-Kreen Fighter(Tik-Tik) LVL 3 EXP 11,677

We have the slight issue that someone is going to die. If we do nothing, Ludi does. If we throw ourself in the way, we die. If we attack Jar, he does. So, we are in a bit of a pickle.

DECEASED

Like I said above, I can just die and then roll a cleric to replace Derlan.

The right move here is to attack Jaryx. Hit him and hit him hard.

The Exchange

"J..Jaryx...what have you done! No, it wasnt you...that thing inside jinxed you somehow. But what of Ekee, is she gone too?" she rushes back to check on her.

After things settle down she searches the gith bodies and dwarf's room for treasure.

Dismoon checks on Ekee. Although covered in blood and sporting a nasty wound, she finds the half-elf is still breathing. The gith had little of value on them, so she returns to the chamber that held the cursed dwarf. The blue glow points her to the orb, kicked out from beneath sand and dust during the fight. The white flashes are not as frequent or intense as during the fight.

It is a strange object with blue, green, and white patterns. The white seems to move, while the blue and greens retain their general shape. It strikes her that somehow, this object is alive. For a dwarf to make the object his focus and risk his soul suggests this object is of immense value.

Outside, the others realize Derlan has disappeared during the confusion. Tracks lead away from the ruined temple to the top of a ridge where they abruptly stop

The Exchange

Blowing the sands off the amazing object, her wild elven eyes go treasure crazy "...look at this...! Bought with the death and kidnapping but the orb is ours..." she rolls it on the back of her hand deftly.

"Jaryx...will you carry Ludi? I think we should hurry and find Derlan, those gith seem to be cunning opportunists and may not wait to take what they want from him..."

A kaleidoscope of images swim though Ekee's mind. Mostly concerning close calls in the arena. Over and over the scenes all end the same, a massive dark figure hitting her.

"No." The Half-Elf's blue eyes snap open as she moans softly. It takes her several minutes before she focus. Seeing a pointed eared form sitting nearby she manages a slight smile then passes out.

Later she wakes and attempts to move the blinding pain tells her to lie still. Looking about and spying Dismoon, the expression on the Elf's face tells a tale.

"Who? How many?

The Exchange

"Ludi was felled, and Derlan missing..." whispering closer to her "I don't know what Ko is going to do about it, he had an odd twitch to his mandibles..." "Maybe its better we return to camp and regroup...?"

Struggling to stand and wincing with the pain Ekee rises using the impailer as a cane. She moves slowly toward the large Thri-Kreen.

I am assuming Ekee was given a healing potion to aid in recovery. Even then she is only at 1 HP and weak.

"Fellow warrior Ko, I understand your anger and concern over the terrible incident involving our large companion Jaryx. You did not witness the vile magics inflicted on him by that horrible creature. But I was there, it was not his fault he was not in control of his actions. I have seen such things once before during arena combat. The consequences then were just as sad and unthinkable as our encounter. There should be no further conflict between us."

She sways slightly as she speaks tightening her grip on the impailer until her knuckles turn white. When she finishes speaking her head lowers and she takes several deep breaths.

"Dis is right we need to return to the caravan. Although I might need a little help to get there." She says with a little smile.

Thri-Kreen Fighter(Tik-Tik) LVL 3 EXP 11,677

Ko flattens her antennae against her head and clicks her mandibles in frustration before speaking.

"He lead, I challenge lead. I lead, he no clutch. I not lead, others decide. I hunt hunters. You on I, I carry You." Ko looks frustrated at the current predicament, but goes about creating a travois from her gythka and whatever skins or cloaks the others may have.

Have we checked out everything in the area?

Everything in the immediate area, yes. Well, there is a door in the ruins that was never opened, but it's an empty room, I don't see any reason to waste time on it when some regrouping is in order. I will put up a return to Farcluun's camp post later tonight or tomorrow.

The solemn group returns to camp, light two members of their crew. Farcluun waits with his silent elves and an attractive young woman as the harsh sun sits low in the sky. Along with the cooling dusk comes a light breeze that stirs the young woman's long brown hair.

"Have you found it?" Farcluun asks flatly. "I sense trouble externally and see two of your cohort have not returned with you. Time may be running quite short. Fortunately this one blundered into our expedition. She has no association with my rivals, though I now know that at least one has an agent in the region, so be aware and never go anywhere alone."

1 person marked this as a favorite.

(See here)

The new woman looks a bit nonplussed; normally you'd expect a traveler roped into Farcluun's schemes to be rather unhappy about it, but she doesn't much seem to care. Seated on a stone near the cursed oasis, she looks like just another lost soul from the wastes. Her outfit is practical and fitted desert fashion for hardships - a leather jerkin with bone studs providing defense against predators, a pack at her feet, and an impaler in her lap. A spear is strapped to her pack, though not in a fashion that would make it easy to reach, and she has a shield of stretched hide over a wooden frame next to her and a chatkcha on her belt.

Though human, she has (like most humans) a few distinguishing oddities; the backs of her ears are slightly jagged. She wears gloves and has a light, gauzy wrap to keep dust out of her mouth. Her complexion is olive, with tanned skin that has seen plenty of outdoors and a lean, tough frame. She wears a gray greasepaint on her forehead to protect against excessive sun.

N Female 1/2 Elf Gladiator (Jazst) Lvl 4 | HP 38/38| AC 4/3/2|DA -4 |MDA +1|SV 13,15,14,16,16|+1 RA| Infravision

Gritting her teeth she rises from the the travois Ko created to carry her. Ekee moves slowly toward Farcluum, stopping only when she is sure she has trespassed beyond his comfort zone. Staring the man in the eye, but taking note of the posture and movements of the Elf guard from the corners of her vision .

"Their names were Ludi and Derlan. Oh and why yes, the rest of us are just fine! Thank you for asking." She pauses assessing the man's reaction. Breaking eye contact for a moment to check on the guards and moving her arms ever so slightly away from her body to allow room for the use of her wrist razors. Should things get ugly.
"And to to answer your question. No we have not found it, yet"

Farcluun's guards remain as still as the statue of Firehand in the distance. As does Farcluun. He stares back at Ekee for several heartbeats. "You will want to rest and heal. It is critical that you make significant headway soon. If you wish for me to be concerned for your welfare, show me you are worth my time and resources."

He closes his eyes for a few minutes. "The one named Derlan lives. I believe one of my rivals' agents has taken him. Focus on your mission. I will send a recovery team to retrieve him."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

The woman stands and hooks her impaler to a leather loop on her belt.

"You must be Farcluun's... how did you put it? 'agents'," she says. "I have been similarly roped into his agenda."

Her eyes flicker over Ekee, looking over her wounds and injuries, then over toward Ko and the others.

"It seems we've been pressed into service together. You've suffered some nasty injuries there. May I help?"

The Exchange

Dismoon rolls the orb into her hand, producing it for Farcluun to observe. "We believe this will get us closer to our goal, can you sense anything about it?"

Farcluun's narrows his dark eyes, squinting for a moment. "Fascinating." As he leans in there is a flash of some sort. A cone of light emits out of the sphere, bathing Farcluun's in a soft green light. It cuts across his abdomen and for a moment his skin appears black and scaled, sinewy and glistening. Then, just as quickly the glow ceases and the brief change in Farcluun's appearance returns to that of a middle-aged man.

He smiles.

"Good, the practioner of The Way died in pursuit of my goals. Ludi? Correct? I will remember his name after all, half-elf," he says to Ekee. "I am fairly certain this is the Eye of the Earth, one of the two artifacts required to reveal the palace. The only record I could find of it was difficult to understand. The scroll had sustained damage, but it made reference to having the power to see things as they were, are, or could be."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"I aim to stop more deaths," snaps the woman.

"Your wounds are extensive," she says more softly to Ekee. "Please, I would like to help, but I will not do so without your consent."

N Female 1/2 Elf Gladiator (Jazst) Lvl 4 | HP 38/38| AC 4/3/2|DA -4 |MDA +1|SV 13,15,14,16,16|+1 RA| Infravision

Dropping her chin and closing her eyes for a moment, Ekee takes a deep breath. Then looking up and at the Human woman.

"Yes, please. Thank you." She slowly follows her to a shady spot where she sits down. Giving the woman a slight smile.

"Oh! Dis can you check on Derlan's animal and wagon?" She asks the Elf.
